Note 5 Sprint clean esn swappa activation issue - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

On swappa the MEID say clean/whitelisted. When I tried to verify in Sprint chat they claim it's attached to another account that's closed. They also said the account needs to be reviewed. I have no idea what any of that means and when I asked the rep left the chat. Does anybody know whether the phone can be activated with Sprint still or if there are any other solutions? Thanks

Call Sprint themselves. You should be ok, if you ran the meid, swappa is pretty accurate.

Locked Sprint Samsung Transform

Couldn't find a section for this phone. Anyways, my dad bought one of these and the guy he bought it off apparently stopped paying his account. Sprint locked the phone and he's trying to reactivate it elsewhere that is not Metro. Is there anything he can do? I read something about rewriting the esn but I have no idea. Help, please

Unfortunately until the past due balance is paid, the only line that device will be able to be activated on is the one that is suspended. NOW, if the account is not completely cut off, the other person can activate a crappy esn or a defective device for that matter, and that will instantly free up the Transform.
So the person would just have to activate a crappy phone and transfer the esn? Like activate said crappy phone as the main one?

Sprint Nexus 5 Sim

Nexus 5 arrived today and I was pretty excited to activate it until I found out that Sprint sent me the wrong sim card. *Sim cards are now on backorder with Sprint. *Does anybody have one lying around that they would be willing to send me?

oaliaso and CRIME INC. I did call all the local Sprint stores and Best Buy locations to no avail. Thanks for the tip though.
Was in the same boat, went to the local corporate store and they gave me a SIM card right away. I would call ahead just in case though, they only seem to keep a few of them in the store and order them as they need them.
I don't have sprint and never will, but I'm just curious. Why is it such a hassle to get a sim card? With any other carrier, I just walk into a store and they hand me one.

How can a service provider sell service without SIM cards? That's like selling a car without the keys to start it. No wonder people are jumping ship on Sprint like crazy.

Because this is the first phone that Sprint has ever allowed on their network that was bought from another source (google play store) other than themselves. Not to mention they're CDMA / LTE and this is the first experience as a company that they had to deal with people actually getting sim cards to activate / use their phones instead of replacing one they already have.
To expand a touch on lilotimz statement. All Sprint branded devices that require a sim card come with a sim card in the box from the factory. The N5 is the first non-Sprint branded device most stores will encounter.

Cause they are terrible, I used to work for them. Hell, I even carried a T-Mobile phone because service was so bad... From dialup 3g, to spotty lte that's slower than Tmobile hspa, to dropped calls.
And Sims, every store were dicks about those. Even if they had any, they wouldn't give them out unless they were making money, was insane! Basically, corporate didn't send many of those and very few phones need them. So, they save them for activations... If a customer needs them, nope, upgrade... Nope.

Just another reason to not switch to sprint.
You can use gs4 SIM and iphone 5 SIM according to Sprint

Trying to join Sprint as a new customer CONFUSION everywhere! Lol

Call Sprint store. Tell me they can't activate a new phone I have to purchase from them. Tell them the phone is unlocked and works on Sprint they said they don't know how to do it.
Call second Sprint store ask for the IMEI number and tell me they can't find a record for it, cant activate it, they are busy sorry goodbye.
Call Corporate office tell me yes I can activate it but this phone does not qualify for a month to month service and even though it's unlocked I will be locked into a 2 year contract as a new customer.
Does that sound right? I only have 14 days to decide if I want to stick with the service? How could I be hit with a penalty for leaving if they have given me nothing up front?

From what I've heard, you can't bring your own phone to sprint's month to month service. You can if you sign a contract though, but you knew that already.

This is your chance to run far away. There are tons of other services that provide better pricing and service than Sprint, unless you're in that 5% of the country that Sprint would get better service, somehow.
It's all because of my job. I work in a large concrete building where there is ZERO AT&T service.
Verizon and Boost Mobile work well, so since Boost uses Sprint towers I was looking to join them.
Can you activate this phone on Boost Mobile? I need another suggestion along those lines.

If you want to use the Sprint network with your Nexus 5, try signing up with Ting.com (a Sprint MVNO). They're very responsive to users and prices are much better than Sprint's. You'll need to order a Sprint SIM from them for $10 unless you can pick one up elsewhere.
It will work on sprint. You have to get a LTE sim card from them. Do not let them tell you otherwise. That's all you need. Pop it in and reboot. I'd call sprint and ask them to send you one.

Would they have to add the MEID for 1x/EVDO or all Nexus 5s in their database already? A prepaid option like Ting may be a good way to go but if you could figure it out how to flash to Page Plus that would be cool too.

none of that is correct. i assume you have a 32gig model. you must remove the last number from the imei and the system will recognize it. you can go on the new month to month framily plan since you are bringing your own device. bringing your own device is the same as purchasing one through the new easy pay program (where you have no contract, just obligated to pay phone off).
Hey and you can join my framily while your at it. Your bill would be $40 a or lower at the base. PM me for details. ?

You didn't buy your N5 from T-mo by any chance, did you? There have been issues with activating N5 purchased from T-mo, onto Sprint because Sprint didn't have those IMEIs loaded into their system (phones purchased from google had that issue for the first few days after launch, but it was quickly addressed. But phones purchased from T-mo reportedly still have the issue)

I bought a used sprint gs5 off ebay for about 150 after reading a few articles I found video a google searching this subject.
I can't remember where I saw it, but one post highly suggested buying a spesific sim card.
I bought the card as well for about 12 bucks.
After I got the phone and the card I called Boost support. They pretty much told me I'm screwed and said the phone was not compatable. I knew better.
I found a number from a youtube video and called some boost store in Michigan, they were a little aprehensive at first, then finally told me they can do it for 50 I told them I had seen other offers of 20 for this service. They agreed to the 20 if i pay with h google wallet. I agree and give them the IMEI and SIM numbers. They walk me through a few easy steps and after a. reboot, the phone was on Boost service with full LTE.
I had also had a custom rom instaled which allowed me to block and remove bloatware and unlock Hotspot.
I'm quite sure any Boost agency can do this if properly motivated. They obviously try to get you to buy the phone from them for 500 instead.
The happy ending is that I now have a pretty sweet S5 on boost for 30 a month, hotspot, growing data all for under 200.
I see the phones getting cheaper all the time. I bet it could be done for much less now.
You don't need to pay anyone or flash anything. Period. If you look at the list of allowable sprint phones on boost the s5 is on it. Mine is for sprint and I'm using it on boost. You just call boost and say you have an s5 that needs to be reprogrammed. They send the programming straight to the phone. Then you just have to tell them you need the lte Sim card sent to you for boost. That's it. If you paid you got ripped off.
that is what I thought as well, but I tried for a week to get it activated and everyone (3 different customer care agents and 2 storefront techs) told me I had to buy a Boost S5 because my 900p was not compatible when I knew it indeed was.
I'm quite sure Boost corporate has told them all to not reprogram used higher tier phones

I just called for a friend and did it 2 days ago because she didn't know what to say. You just tell them you bought an s5. If they ask if it's for boost you say yes. I don't know why they wouldn't do it for you.
I tried that. I lied and told them it was a boost phone.
3 seperate occasions on the phone, a few tries online and twice in a storefront (not necessarily in that order) they all told me the system rejected it as a non compatable phone.
I agree that I got ripped off a bit. Apparently any one of them could of probably done it.
I just wanted to add my experience. I just purchased a Sprint S5 off of eBay as well and just went to the Boost store to have it activated. The guy did it all for free. Didn't even need to change the SIM card.
I just got a used S5 on amazon literally 4 days ago. First thing I did was go to a Sprint store and got a Sprint SIM card for the S5. I got it for free luckily. If you can't find them sprint will mail them to you for free. Then I called Boost Mobile and they activated my Sprint G900p to boost. Now I am using ressurection remix ROM. Though I had to flash a Universal boost mobile apn fix to get it working on this ROM. Everything works. What exactly is the problem?? On their website the S4, S4, S6 is able to go to boost. Unless you got a fake phone it should be fine. Download AnTuTu Officer to see if your phone is fake. Based on the same situation with the S4. I had to call at least 5 or 6 times to get my phone activated. Some customer reps are idiots and some know their job. Try that app. And just try back with boost.
I have a friend who has Sprint Galaxy S5, moved over to Boost, and now wants to move back to Sprint. She's taken the phone to corp Sprint store, but the tech has had a problem "re-skuing" the phone. There has to be a method out there. Anyone?

That's REALLY sketchy. Why were they able to do it ONLY after you paid a fee? Aren't they a dealer store? Shouldn't they do their job without an extra charge? As far as I know, they shouldn't have charged you at all for putting your sprint phone on their network. I'm not saying you're at fault at all, you were just trying to get a working phone...they are the ones at fault. Crooks

Unlocking Sim through tmobile...

Very easy process. I bought a phone off contract. Called tmobile, they let me unlock it instantly. Simple process, give them the imei and Sim card number (tmobile), and have an activated Sim from the service you want to use.
Turn phone off, replace Sim with working Sim, turn phone on. Profit.

They didn't tell me that once. They did tell me I could use this phone abroad, on their network. They were very accommodating with me. Bought the phone on Monday, called yesterday, but didn't have phone with me. Called back today and it took 20mins.

When you buy the V10 form TMO, did they ask you to join any plan?
I got V10 at $630 and on a pay as you go plan.
and they need me to add another $100 to that account and wait for 14 days to unlock.
didn't these apply to you?
I had to get a prepaid plan, which was $40 I believe. Also, I believe they did the unlock as a courtesy since I already am a customer, and have been for several years.

I was able to get them to unlock it without all of that. Just got it permanently unlocked. No $100 refill. No 14 days. It's only been 2 days since I bought it and I'm already unlocked.
I simply kept asking over and over, said please, asked them to make an exception, explained to them that I know it is not true that the $100 is a requirement because I have had T-Mobile unlock a phone for me without all that in the past. Then I finally asked him to elevate this to his supervisor. That's when the magic happened.
If you aren't getting anywhere, try that. If the rep is being super stubborn, just call back. You'll get someone different.
The key here is to be super nice, polite, sincere, and to use the magical key words: "please make an exception."
I'm telling you. Works every time.
Hi Guys
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
But I just got the LG V10 unlocked from T Mobile!!!!!! You guys can do the same too!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
I bought this phone with pre-paid plan. called two days ago, the TMO representative said me three rules to unlock a prepaid phone are:
1) you use the phone with a TMO phone number:
2) passed the 14 days since you first make a call (passed the 14 days return period)
3) add another $100 to your prepaid account.
This is not same thing that I was told before I bought the phone!! Before I bought the phone, I actually called the TMO unlock department to make sure they can unlock the phone for me if I pay the full device only price.
Alright, Here are the steps to unlock the phone today:
1) call the T mobile pre-paid department. tell them I bought the phone for a few days and found out the t-mobile signal is extreme bad at work and also not good at home (this is true to me!). So I want to cancel the pre-paid plan. The TMO representative says if you don't use the phone for 180 days. the account will automatically expired and cancelled.
2) then I said I want to get the $10 on my account refunded because it is tmo's signal issue. I also told them I am more concerned on the device that paid in full can't work with other carriers.
3) the TMO representative asked: if they can unlock the device, will I still concerned about the credit in my prepaid account? I said if you can unlock the phone, I don't care about the $10 in my account.
4) TMO rep then asked my email account and send in the instructions to unlock the phone. followed the email. the phone is instantly unlocked.
The whole process took only about 15~20 minutes. very easy.
tips: try to call in the evenings, their offshore representative is more easy to talk with
hope this helps you guys!
I believe same strategy can be apply to you guys with post-paid plans.
Cheers!
Call tmobile and ask them, it's simple really. Just get a prepaid sim, activate it and put $100 on account. They say wait 7 days, but you can usually call and unlock within instant to 3 days. You can do this with any phone.

best and simply way
It still requires you to become a T-Mo customer and pay 100$ in advance though. It's hardly a great method unless you're already on T-Mo or find a way to get back that 100$ credit.
I've tried the "human" factor; called 2 shops and talked with 2 chat operators on support with no success; they haven't granted me any exception even though my cause was legit.
BTW, what would happen in this scenario:
I buy the phone. Put "someones" T-Mo sim-card and that person calls the support right away. Would they unlock the phone assuming that person is on T-Mo for 1+ year?

Yes that will work if the person has not unlocked over 2 phones in the previous year. The sim card must be in the phone for at least 2-3 days to register the phone on the person's T-Mobile account. For more details check out the official T-Mobile unlock policy.

This looks like a loophole in the t-mobile unlock policy. Has anyone tried that? If the device is associated with a canceled account, the account balance must be zero, including all pending charges

Crazy to see this whole unlock thing again. It first started out with the galaxy s6 when they introduced that unlocking app. Went through hell with tmobile to get my s6 edge unlocked to work with cricket (AT&T). You cannot unlock any phone anymore without the app and getting around the whole 40 days thing was highly annoying. After I got my phone unlocked, all worked nice and dandy until my phone decided not to make or take calls on lte.. While on lte all incoming calls will not come through and outgoing will not go out. Had to force the phone to stay on hspa for get and receive calls. Sucked. Sold thag phone and just got the international version downside of international version (at least for Samsung) is that the radio isn't optimized so I always have very low bars of lte and often jump to hspa... Most times I have 1 bar of lte. Unless I'm really close to a tower where the signal goes go 3 or 4 bars.

So I finally got some clarity as to why I can't unlock yet. I have to wait the 14 day demise period?!
I have been struggling to get this phone. Since I'm in Canada I have to either buy from Swappa or ebay and none of the sellers are willing to pick up the phone and ask tmo to unlock it for me which is ridiculous. Is anyone aware of any 3rd party sites that can unlock this device? One's like cellunlocker say they cannot do it due to the tmo unlock app or whatever it is. If anyone knows of a site to make it happen that would save me a lot of headaches and I could just buy one already!

No there is no current vendor or method to unloc other than tmobile directly..
3 months ago there was, all 3rd party vendors with remote access to tmobile activations were able to inject imei and have them made eligible for unlock via the device unlock app.
That loophole has since been closed. It now requires direct contact with tmobile and must meet the requirements.
I just bought walmart tmobile $30 kit activated. Bought $100 refill off ebay for $53. Called for 3 days until my phone showed up on the network. They unlocked after having supervisor authorize exemption.
You can close / cancel the account, after they refund you with a master card with remaining funds. Ymmv
