No, but my Boost S5 is flashed with a Sprint rom, working very well.
Sent from my LG G3

Can't do it. When you repair the MEID you break the IMEI certification which breaks your signal. Unless you or someone else knows of a way yo get around this...?

I bought a used sprint gs5 off ebay for about 150 after reading a few articles I found video a google searching this subject.
I can't remember where I saw it, but one post highly suggested buying a spesific sim card.
I bought the card as well for about 12 bucks.
After I got the phone and the card I called Boost support. They pretty much told me I'm screwed and said the phone was not compatable. I knew better.
I found a number from a youtube video and called some boost store in Michigan, they were a little aprehensive at first, then finally told me they can do it for 50 I told them I had seen other offers of 20 for this service. They agreed to the 20 if i pay with h google wallet. I agree and give them the IMEI and SIM numbers. They walk me through a few easy steps and after a. reboot, the phone was on Boost service with full LTE.
I had also had a custom rom instaled which allowed me to block and remove bloatware and unlock Hotspot.
I'm quite sure any Boost agency can do this if properly motivated. They obviously try to get you to buy the phone from them for 500 instead.
The happy ending is that I now have a pretty sweet S5 on boost for 30 a month, hotspot, growing data all for under 200.
I see the phones getting cheaper all the time. I bet it could be done for much less now.

You don't need to pay anyone or flash anything. Period. If you look at the list of allowable sprint phones on boost the s5 is on it. Mine is for sprint and I'm using it on boost. You just call boost and say you have an s5 that needs to be reprogrammed. They send the programming straight to the phone. Then you just have to tell them you need the lte Sim card sent to you for boost. That's it. If you paid you got ripped off.

that is what I thought as well, but I tried for a week to get it activated and everyone (3 different customer care agents and 2 storefront techs) told me I had to buy a Boost S5 because my 900p was not compatible when I knew it indeed was.
I'm quite sure Boost corporate has told them all to not reprogram used higher tier phones

I just called for a friend and did it 2 days ago because she didn't know what to say. You just tell them you bought an s5. If they ask if it's for boost you say yes. I don't know why they wouldn't do it for you.

I tried that. I lied and told them it was a boost phone.
3 seperate occasions on the phone, a few tries online and twice in a storefront (not necessarily in that order) they all told me the system rejected it as a non compatable phone.
I agree that I got ripped off a bit. Apparently any one of them could of probably done it.

I just wanted to add my experience. I just purchased a Sprint S5 off of eBay as well and just went to the Boost store to have it activated. The guy did it all for free. Didn't even need to change the SIM card.

I just got a used S5 on amazon literally 4 days ago. First thing I did was go to a Sprint store and got a Sprint SIM card for the S5. I got it for free luckily. If you can't find them sprint will mail them to you for free. Then I called Boost Mobile and they activated my Sprint G900p to boost. Now I am using ressurection remix ROM. Though I had to flash a Universal boost mobile apn fix to get it working on this ROM. Everything works. What exactly is the problem?? On their website the S4, S4, S6 is able to go to boost. Unless you got a fake phone it should be fine. Download AnTuTu Officer to see if your phone is fake. Based on the same situation with the S4. I had to call at least 5 or 6 times to get my phone activated. Some customer reps are idiots and some know their job. Try that app. And just try back with boost.

I have a friend who has Sprint Galaxy S5, moved over to Boost, and now wants to move back to Sprint. She's taken the phone to corp Sprint store, but the tech has had a problem "re-skuing" the phone. There has to be a method out there. Anyone?

That's REALLY sketchy. Why were they able to do it ONLY after you paid a fee? Aren't they a dealer store? Shouldn't they do their job without an extra charge? As far as I know, they shouldn't have charged you at all for putting your sprint phone on their network. I'm not saying you're at fault at all, you were just trying to get a working phone...they are the ones at fault. Crooks

I know it. They just wanted me to buy their GS5 for 500 bucks instead.
I just recently tried it again with a Galaxy Note 4, Same story. All the storefronts say it can't be done, Boost coustomer care won't do it either. They have to have been instructed to not flash phones anymore.

Buying off of Craigslist

I was thinking of buying a Verizon Galaxy S3 off of craigslist. I know with tmobile and AT&T, all you have to do is put your SIM card into the phone, and it works fine. You don't need to call and activate the phone, you can just swap SIM cards. I know with Sprint, if the ESN is bad, Sprint will not activate the phone for you because of its past non-payment history. With Sprint, you cannot swap SIM's because they have none. Since Verizon uses SIM cards with the Galaxy S3, will this be an issue? If I get a SIM card from Verizon, can I just put it the phone I bought and have service?
I have a galaxy nexus and swapping the sim card between that and my s3 works with a problem. I also got a replacement for my wife's phone and when I picked it up, I just popped my sim card in it to check that everything was working. So in short the answer is yes (unless someone else knows something I don't know). You should be able to put your sim card in a new phone, power on and be online.

True, VZW uses SIM cards, but be careful. I remember reading how one poor guy on here got his ESN blacklisted from the network because it was stolen.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
When I bought my Bionic, I called Verizon to clear the ESN with them. They let me know that it was actually deactivated from the line (and that it was clear).
SIM swap is eh but calling Verizon with the ESN is even better. Just trust your instinct first.

Definitely do this. I was warning you but this guy basically told you what I was leading into. 10 minute phone call that could save you $200+.

Heads up.. I've bought an incredible 2 from craigslist before and checked that the esn with Verizon was clean. After selling it on ebay, it was listed as stolen. Not a fun experience.

Always check ESN's, and in fact why not meet in the store to make sure you can have it activated before you buy, while providing you with a safe place to meet without getting robbed. It only makes sense to protect your investment.
Also, be aware that TMobile and ATT can also block IMEI numbers due to unpaid bills on the account. I've just recently learned about this myself when my friend got burned when he purchased a t mobile HTC one s off craigslist. He was able to use it for about a month when it disconnected his service. I guess when he contacted TMobile they said the guy who bought it from used his upgrade to buy a new phone and then didn't pay his bill.
Just wanted to pass this info on.
I've bought a few vzw phones off craigslist and always meet in the store for the deal. Hand the phone over to them and once its cleared good I pay them. Never had any trouble. Vzw never gave me any grief for doing this in store either.

I'm swapping a Droid Charge(+money) for a Galaxy Nexus tonight. When I asked the guy at the store yesterday, he was saying I'd need a third phone (like an old one) to do this. Something about deactivated phone before it can be activated. Sounds legit? Note the charge has a SIM card and the Nexus uses a micro-SIM, or me and the other guy could presumably just swap SIMs and be on our way.
What if I just say I want a new SIM card, but I want it to be a microSIM--and I put it in my new nexus. The other guy does the opposite, and we're both good to go. Seems like a good idea.
Anyone have experience swapping phones with different size SIMs? Note that I don't have time to get adapters or cutters.
Thanks

Get a sim cutter...u don't need a third phone if u can put your sim right into the other phone...I swap all the time and went through the whole different size sim cards swap...I also have an adaptor for a micro sim to fit a regular slot...paid like $6 for both at a local cell shop..u don't even have to go into a store.....

With sims they have to have a third phone if it is cross account and different size cards or u loose unlimited data...don't know why but that is the way it is setup
I bought my Verizon GS3 off of craigslist. I met with the person at a verizon store, bought a sim card (my droid charge sim needed to be cut and I didn't know about cutters), confirmed with the Verizon rep that the phone had a clean ESN, and then they swapped it onto my plan right there. I retained unlimited data, and I made sure my phone was activated while also having had the person sign a written document stating she had sold me the Verizon Galaxy S3 (and I listed the MEID # beneath the battery).
I'd recommend paying attention to the moisture sensors on the battery and beneath the battery on the phone to make sure that it hasn't been exposed to liquids. I forgot to do that Nevertheless, my phone runs wonderfully!
Know that by doing this through craigslist you void the Verizon and Samsung warranties, even though you can register the phone on Samsung's website if it's unregistered and get their 50% off 1 online accessory...
Agree with people above. Meet at the store and pay after they clear the phone. Dont forget to check for the sd card, people usually pull these. Bargain down if they pulled it. Here is a vzw site to check the esn.

Sim cards are free at verizon.
Also, they even continued the existing insurance from my old phone to the used s3 i bought.

i didn't get one either.........i had bought a few phones from ppl off CL, had them meet me at the store, made him deactivate the phone off his line and cleared the esn with the reps at the store w/ me, but they wouldn't let me do the transaction in the store, i had to leave the store to do it because they said it was infringing on their business, so we went down the road to mcdonalds, did the transaction, and when i got home i swapped my lines out and everything was ok
Thanks for the response and ideas, guys. The swap went down great--it was a few days later than I thought it would be, so it gave me some time to research the issue and read your ideas.
There was a guy at the store who took both phones, swapped them, gave him a SIM card and me a microSIM. He mentioned putting the numbers on dummy accounts while he switched, so that may be a useful keyword. He didn't give me a problem and was awesome but YMMV, FYI. The first store I went to seemed a little iffy about the idea.
Anyway it was a Charge+money swapped for a GS3. My wife is very happy. I'm still happy with my GNex/CM10.

BestBuy / Sprint N5 comes with a locked SIM slot?

I am solving this as we speak, so I will update, but went to BB, bought the N5 (I have my reasons why I bought there, not from Play store)
The box states, software lock is in place to prevent the use with non-Sprint sim cards. Also Sprint brochure in box, and no pin-tray key in the box. In other words, the phone is packaged for Sprint specifically.
I bought it, I will call up Sprint and T-Mobile (which is who I want to use) and see what's up.
Anyone else has info?

I really hope that being simlocked to Sprint doesn't affect Android updates down the line. It shouldn't, because it's technically not a "Sprint variant" of the phone, but you never know.

Wait till you get the phone. For all you know, it may be SIM unlocked like the version from the play store. For other phones like the S4, Sprint does have the 90 day requirement before unlocking it for use with International SIMs.
On the Nexus 5, hopefully, they haven't locked down the US bands (like they do with the S4 and other phones). The play store version is not locked.
The http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701 thread shows you how to flash the stock images - but again, no guarantees that it will do the trick till you actually try it out.
I didn't want to risk this, so I just bought from the play store. I asked the play store person if the phone was guaranteed to get timely updates direct from google, and he gave a "Phones purchased from the play store will get timely updates from google" response. I'm guessing it was a canned response, but I do hope that Sprint doesn't cripple the version sold by Sprint/Bestbuy etc.
That's pretty crappy. I'd return it.
No, Flashing the stock image will not remove the SIM lock. The SIM lock is stored in a different place.

Update
Sprint Tech Support confirmed the phone is locked. The problem is that they COULD unlock it, but the phone needs to be activated first. To activate the phone, I have to add it to a plan (a 2 year contract). Without that, they cannot do anything with a "cold" phone. Thus far I got nowhere .. the plan is definitely to return it if they do not budge.
I purchased mine from the Google play store as well.
Why would sprint sell it at a subsidized price of $150 or $50 for new customers without locking it to their network during your 2 year contract.
Also, I bet sprint will only unlock it for international use during the 2 year contract. Just like the iPhone and s4.

Well sure, I understand that with the subsidized phones, but I paid it up front - I paid the full $450 for a Nexus. I wanted an unlocked phone ... it's a bum deal.
I am trying to find out whether a friend of mine could activate it on his account, I get it unlocked, and then we re-activate his iPhone back ... not sure Sprint will go for it.
Ugh .. I just want a Nexus 5 you know? ... and this seemed like a fine way of getting it (My old Captivate died finally for good on Tuesday. and I do not really have $350 just siting around, so the $100 markup was my financing "cost" to get 18 month of payments (I have no interest financing through best buy; my other card has high interest .. it was not a bad financing plan). Ugh .. if only Sprint let me unlock it.
Returned it. will get the tmo version next week. i really wish the wait on play store was shorter. my phone is dead ... waiting is too painful.

I don't think Sprint has any clue what they are talking about. I had a 200 dollar BB giftcard so I went in tonight and purchased a "Sprint" N5 and I don't even have Sprint service Ran by the AT&T store and picked up a micro sim, popped it in and everything is working perfectly. The device is definitely not locked to Sprint. Full LTE data with AT&T without having to configure anything.

I am using one right now with my AT&T sim and everything is working. The device even has an imei number which Sprint phones usually do not have(or at least didn't used to when I had Sprint). They only made one version of the device for North America and it is compatible with Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T.
That is very strange. The T-Mobile did not work. Makes me sad.

Sprint does not have a sim card for my N5 :( What should I do?

My Nexus 5 is due to be delivered tomorrow afternoon, I cannot wait!
Until now...
I went into my local Sprint store last week to make sure I'd be able to walk in and activate, and to make sure they had some of the sim cards necessary to activate the phone on their network, which they did at the time and said there should be no problem. Fast forward to today.Called up the store to check and make sure they had one for tomorrow. After listening to the assistant manager tell me that they Play Store version of the phone could not be activated on their network, AT ALL, I explained to him that they could in fact do so, and I'd like to know when they'd have the sims in or where he could direct me to find them. He told me they may or may not get them in the next few weeks, and I couldn't get one anywhere else.
Since that call, I've spoken to Sprint Customer Care, who directed me to sprint worldwide, who was then going to direct me to Telesales before the rep found out that Telesales does not sell the sim cards individually anymore.
Now I'm not sure what I should do..... If I'm not able to get anywhere with Sprint, should I just move my number somewhere?
Recommendations?
Ask them for a SIM card for the Galaxy S4 or for the HTC one (don't tell them that it is for the Nexus). Those will get your Nexus up and running just fine.
Edit: The sprint reps on Sprint's community forums seem to be pretty helpful too. Post a thread there and ask a Sprint rep for help.
I went to sprint store and had none. Went to another, they had plenty. Depends on sprint stores and most have no problem giving away for free, popped it right out of the back stockroom. Try calling ahead to see if in stock if no luck nearby. Also, on Sprint Worldwide eChat, you can order one for free or overnight I think for $13? May be backorder still though as I last saw from them, but worth a try. As said before, an HTC One or S4 UICC (SIM) card will work in the Nexus 5. Good luck.
I'm on Sprint also and was lucky enough to find "the last one" at my local corporate store. I was reading a few weeks ago that Sprint up and lost 15,000 sim cards. Stolen, lost, missing, etc. Who knows. I cant find the article that I had read though.
Ebay has been a bunch of peoples friends as of late
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...+card&_nkw=sprint+sim+card&_sacat=0&_from=R40
One other thing. If you can get a hold of any sprint sim card, you can chop them down to fit fairly easy.
Thank you very much for the reply.
That may be where I messed up talking to the local store. I asked if they had an HTC One Sim that he could use. He was adamant that he was "directed by people much higher than myself" not to switch Sim cards between phones lest he lose his job.
I will indeed try again differently.
I drove and called around to a bunch of stores looking for a sim card for my gf and her brother, but never found any. The misinformation and frosty reception I got everywhere - It's like Sprint didn't even want people to stick around on their network.
Sprint international chat finally put in an order on the 11th. They were backordered and finally shipped out today, should arrive by Friday. So, 11 days to wait with the phone in hand!
(And I've been trying to get one or both of them to ditch sprint and go to tmobile this whole time )

Trying to join Sprint as a new customer CONFUSION everywhere! Lol

Call Sprint store. Tell me they can't activate a new phone I have to purchase from them. Tell them the phone is unlocked and works on Sprint they said they don't know how to do it.
Call second Sprint store ask for the IMEI number and tell me they can't find a record for it, cant activate it, they are busy sorry goodbye.
Call Corporate office tell me yes I can activate it but this phone does not qualify for a month to month service and even though it's unlocked I will be locked into a 2 year contract as a new customer.
Does that sound right? I only have 14 days to decide if I want to stick with the service? How could I be hit with a penalty for leaving if they have given me nothing up front?

Call Sprint store. Tell me they can't activate a new phone I have to purchase from them. Tell them the phone is unlocked and works on Sprint they said they don't know how to do it.
Call second Sprint store ask for the IMEI number and tell me they can't find a record for it, cant activate it, they are busy sorry goodbye.
Call Corporate office tell me yes I can activate it but this phone does not qualify for a month to month service and even though it's unlocked I will be locked into a 2 year contract as a new customer.
Does that sound right?

And yet, you still want to be with Sprint. I'm so lost.
From what I've heard, you can't bring your own phone to sprint's month to month service. You can if you sign a contract though, but you knew that already.

This is your chance to run far away. There are tons of other services that provide better pricing and service than Sprint, unless you're in that 5% of the country that Sprint would get better service, somehow.
It's all because of my job. I work in a large concrete building where there is ZERO AT&T service.
Verizon and Boost Mobile work well, so since Boost uses Sprint towers I was looking to join them.
Can you activate this phone on Boost Mobile? I need another suggestion along those lines.

Nope. Boost requires you to buy a phone from them. Why not just use Ting?

If you want to use the Sprint network with your Nexus 5, try signing up with Ting.com (a Sprint MVNO). They're very responsive to users and prices are much better than Sprint's. You'll need to order a Sprint SIM from them for $10 unless you can pick one up elsewhere.
It will work on sprint. You have to get a LTE sim card from them. Do not let them tell you otherwise. That's all you need. Pop it in and reboot. I'd call sprint and ask them to send you one.

Would they have to add the MEID for 1x/EVDO or all Nexus 5s in their database already? A prepaid option like Ting may be a good way to go but if you could figure it out how to flash to Page Plus that would be cool too.

Are you a masochist? If I were you I would run as far away as possible from Sprint. You said you don't get AT&T coverage at work. What about T-Mobile?

I was wondering that myself. If T-Mobile has good 3/4g in your area it will be a great experience on this phone.

none of that is correct. i assume you have a 32gig model. you must remove the last number from the imei and the system will recognize it. you can go on the new month to month framily plan since you are bringing your own device. bringing your own device is the same as purchasing one through the new easy pay program (where you have no contract, just obligated to pay phone off).
Hey and you can join my framily while your at it. Your bill would be $40 a or lower at the base. PM me for details. ?

You didn't buy your N5 from T-mo by any chance, did you? There have been issues with activating N5 purchased from T-mo, onto Sprint because Sprint didn't have those IMEIs loaded into their system (phones purchased from google had that issue for the first few days after launch, but it was quickly addressed. But phones purchased from T-mo reportedly still have the issue)

Bought Moto G For Sprint, Turns out it's Locked To Boost

I'm not quite sure this is the proper area for this post I'm sorry. Feel free to move it.
I bought a used Moro G the person claimed it was for sprint and I was in a rush and didn't give it a good enough look when I bought it. Well come to find out it's BOOST. Now I'm out the money and still need a phone.
Is it possible to flash this phone from boost to sprint? And if so can anyone direct me to and possible free software that does this? I've been on Google for a couple of hours and just keep coming up with a bunch of crap that's not helping me at all.
Thank you for the assistance!
Honestly kind of curious to see what the answer is to this. Have you considered calling Sprint and seeing if they could activate it? Probably where I would start.
Only way to use it on sprint is to have it activated on boost for 12 consecutive months then they will unlock it. Nothing else you can do bro. Sell it but unfortunately they aren't worth much money anymore. I have had mine for a year and a half and I still love it but I can't sell it for more than about $15-$20. Its sad I know. Switch to boost...
Well I paid 50 for it and it's in good shape I imagine SOMEONE will give 50 bucks for a decent phone in my experience. But I don't want to use boost much less Sprint. Thing is I'm stuck in a contract with AT&T 1 phone is broke another is in poor condition and to top it off our service has been dreadful. So we were just going to have Sprint but it out and that way the bill will at least be cheaper as well.
There is one guy that does flashing. Claims he can do boost to Sprint ehh :/
