Help With embedded Picture INFO ( metadata ? ) - General Questions and Answers

Im trying to move screenshots i took over time, But when i move them to PC theres no way to sort by the date i took them after transferring them ?
Im using ES File Explorer and on the phone i can sort them by date modified, So basically the date taken, But when i move them the
"date modified " Changes to when i transferred to PC so im unable to sort them cause all the dates become the same.
How can i keep the "date modified" from changing so i can keep them in order and sort them ?
I was using a OTG usb Then plugging that into the PC Then moving. If that matters ?
I havent tried dirct from phone to pc yet.

Something wrong with transfer of files

Am currently trying to flash an english rom onto my newly arrived german xdaII (ebay) but for some strange reason am having difficulty copying any files except picture files to the device from my notebook. Sorry to bore you but this is what I understand the procedure to be. Highlight file to be copied on the notebook. Press explore in active sync and highlight file which is to receive the copied file and press paste. This only works for picture files and never for anything else. It appears correct and present on the notebook's activesync but when I open the file on the xdaII it is completely empty. In fact every file except the my pictures and templates is completely empty, no matter how I try to fill them. I therefore cannot get the HimaGetDeviceData file to the xdaII to get around the country id error. I have tried a soft reset and that didn't fix it. What is the difference between that and hard reset? Is this a case of simply pressing the wrong buttons (of course I don't understand German!) or is there something more sinister lurking about? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
CT
softreset == reboot on a pc
hardreset == putting in a restore cd that came with the pc and letting it set everything back to default / formatting the hd and reinstalling windows if you build your own pc

[Q] why can't i use internal storage for photos, music and videos

Hello everyone
I have an HTC Sensation XE running on viper's 5.2.1
My phone got smashed, throwed at wall, floor, and everyplace u could think of and dropped in water
But it's still alive(even though there are no volume button, screen cracked but functional and most of all
I'm unable to insert my microsd card in(i can INSERT it,but nothing shows up on phone)
So i've been searching on google, forums and everywhere else to look
But found NOTHING.
So, can anyone please tell me how to use my INTERNAL memory space(about 1gb) for photos, videos and music
Instead of just apps(can't even download pictures on whatsapp)
P.S. i'm very poor T-T so anyone who says buy a new phone or repair the current one
I will *******************************************(i've put stars here,'cause i'm pretty sure i'll get banned if i actually curse >^-^< )

The bottom line is you can't. If your USB port still works you could look into having a non-powered USB otg cable connected to a USB thumb stick, but even then your ROM would need to be configured to think that the storage was an sdcard.
Sorry bud.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
found a solution... well sort of
After some time playing around with my phone i finally found out how to do it...
But unfortunately NOT COMPLETELY do it
Now i can download media except that i have to use only one app for everthing
Even for playing those media files(to play a photo, music or video, have to go play them in ES)
ES File explorer(maybe other file explorers work, but i didn't try them)
Needs root access(of course since i'm forcing it to do something it's not supposed to do)
All i had to is make a folder in the data folder(maybe somewhere else works)
/data/download
changed the folder properties (check all boxes read&write...etc)
And go to directory settings to change download path to /data/download
And the go to download manager setting and enable multi thread
Now i can download anything through the web
But can't make apps download media(whatsapp...etc) to the internal storage(will try to figure this out)

broken android screen, some limited remote access, need data backup

Hi guys
Due to unforeseen consequences during a holiday, a beer bottle got dropped on my phone and it cracked the screen. Now I want to take a backup of my photos before I send for repairs and I will appreciate any help I can get! Here are the details:
Phone: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Firmware: Stock Sony Kitkat, non rooted
Screen: Cracked, funny colours cannot see anything on the screen and touch does not work
USB Debugging Mode: Off
Wifi: On
Resources Available: OTG cable, AndroidLost is installed (its for finding your lost phone with a multitude of other useful features as well - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlost), MHL cable ordered online and on the way...
So firstly, I plugged in the phone to my laptop and could not open the Internal Storage as I had a pattern lock set up. But thankfully, using Androidlost I could unlock the phone remotely (it resets and disables the lock). Once it opened I could see that my internal storage was full (around 11 gigs) and I could browse all my files. I didn't have the time to transfer my files at the time so I thought I will do it later and switched everything off. This happened once more when I accessed it from another laptop but again got interrupted and decided to back it up later.
Now strangely, the third time I tried this (and on multiple laptops now), the Internal Storage is only showing 7.5gb of 11gb used, and when I open it most folders are missing and most files are missing from the folders which are present. It may be some weird issue of MTP or MSC mode or something, not sure.
I've ordered an MHL cable so I can plug in to my TV and see if the files are present if I browse through the phone. Its really weird though, wonder how the files disappeared if they have.
I also tried to access my phone through an Ubuntu machine but was not successful in mounting it.
And I also tried to put in an SD card and browse that through a laptop, and I could do that but the internal storage remained the same.
One path I was following - using Android Lost I can open any app on my phone remotely. I can install any app using Google Play store on a browser. I can figure out the LAN IP address through my router/netscan. Is there any app you think I can install to remotely make my phone an FTP server or something so I can browse my files that way? The only problem is I cannot click 'Start' or anything which most such apps require so once the app is launched everything else must be remote-doable.
Thanks for taking out the time to read this!

Very lengthy question.
So you want to make your phone an FTP server. I have a great solution for that
Install the legendary ES File Explorer from the Play Store
Select Remote Manager from the option, it will turn on WIFI hotspot and also give a FTP address. Just connect your PC with wifi and enter the addresss in any web browser you want
That's all
Hit thanks if helped

Hi Sushant,
thanks for reading the whole thing and for your suggestion.
I can install ES File Explorer. I can start the app remotely using Android Lost. Problem is, I cannot use my screen so I cannot go to the options and select remote manager.

i really really want to help OP but i cant think of the name of the app. its something like vlc, vhc, vcl, the point is. you can control the screen remotly over the same wifi network. i think if you could install the app remotly and install it on your computer, you would be able to unclock it remotly because you can see the screen on your computer.
if i remember the name i will post it for you. good luck OP!
Thank you Phurkus! I think you may be referring to VNC.
I found an app called 'VNC Server' that you can connect to using Real VNC on your computer. But after launching this app, it needs me to tap 'On' before it starts so again, no-go.
I'll search around for an app that uses VNC that doesn't require any set up on the android side besides just being installed and launched. Thanks again!

Pixel System Folders

Hi There,
So I have a Pixel with 02 (in the UK) its at 7.1.2 right now. Problem is I can't seem to see the system folders when plugging into my pc, I'm trying to get at the notification/ringtones/alarm tones folders so I can set custom ones.
I'm not sure now whether the phone is hiding system folders or my carrier is blocking them somehow. I also can't upload a screenshot as the forum won't let me yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Pull down the notification window from top of phone. Change from charging to file transfer. If you have the correct drivers installed on your pc they will install and you will be able to see everything. It might take a bit the first time. Sometimes switching between file transfers and media helps.

how to get the photos to show in file explore differently

i have the a51 and when i connect it to the pc to get photos off the phone and paste them into a pc folder and open it in the file explorer i get small icons and i get the oldest photos first. when i connect my lg aristo and my oterh samsung that i do not recall teh models they open photos in file explorer with large icons and newest photos first.
so it kind of looks like i have to do some phone settings to make this happen. i tried win10 but they are telling me i need different apps etc. but my older phones do this so the a51 should do this as well. even the nokia does thes but with that phone i have to first copy all the photos into a folder first.
anyway is there a setting on the phone that tell the files to open large and new files first? the phone puts the date and a file number on the photos automatically.
also on a side note how do i stop the pc from giving me that warning triangle in the taskbar and if i click that it tells me the phone has been disconnected or stopped working. i have even use the safe to remove hardware to eject the phone and i still get that message and i do not get it for any other phones i would just unplug those old phones and be doen with it. this phone give me that message every time
