Water Damaged but gets to Bootloader

So I wanted to see if my phone would survive a 20min dip in the pool and well it just may have. I waited a day for it dry and had it in rice to help draw out the water. It wouldnt turn on. I took it to ATT and they put in a new battery and it turned on but turned off. I left it hooked up to the charger overnight and woke up this morning to find it at the please insert SIM screen. Now I can only get it to the bootloader screen and it turns off. Anybody have some suggestions on things I can try to get it running again? Nothing is off limits since it not like i have to worry about breaking it....

Update: Plugged it back in the charger and it went all the way to sense again. It says low battery and to connect to charger even though it is, so I'm thinking new battery?

First all leave it to dry some more,another day or so,then try it,i would also get another battery .
by the sound of it the device had not dried properly before you tried to power it on.

I just went to ATT to try another battery, but it wouldnt turn on now. Maybe the battery contacts on the phone need to be replaced, is there a place to get parts or to test what needs to be replaced. I have a multimeter and soldering iron.

When you dried it did you have the pc board exposed or has the case still been sealed?

still sealed. it turned on, i refuse to believe there is still water in there even if that is the fact.

Get a bag of rice, fill a large bowl halfway and put the disassembled device ontop then fill the rest of the bowl of the rice and leave for a coule days or so. It fixed my soaked Palm Pilot over 10 years ago.

Good luck, you may be lucky and it dries out fine, but if water has been in there whilst the device was on for some time, then it may be not good news.

I Refuse To Believe A Fact.. (there might be a tee shirt here )
But anyway I'm quoting someone that would know. Our devices are like ships in a bottle. Just 1 spec of moisture across 2 legs of an integrated circuit under power will lead to certain failure.

Update: Last night I gave it another go and the phone turned on again. Earlier in the day I tried bringing it to ATT but a new battery didnt help. When it turned on for me, it would switch from battery mode to charging mode when I plugged in the charger but would still say battery low please plug in charger. Also the charging light doesn't come up when I plug it in, though the led mightve been shorted. Should I be trying to Task 29 and reflash or is this definitely a hardware problem?

Update: Today, I task29 and reflashed the rom with no problem. I even made a phone call and received a call. The speaker may be dead because it didnt ring, but it did vibrate. The main problem seems to be the power management. The phone says the battery is low and turns off after a few minutes. IT does recognize the charger in the taskbar but still has the low battery message pop up. Is there a piece of hardware that is involved in the power management that can be replaced? N5 dead, won't charge/turn on

OK, so long story short:
- Had water damage screw up the digitizer on my screen, middle vertical 1/3rd was unresponsive to touch, after time there'd be a million fake input events hammering the device
- Order replacement screen from Aliexpress
- Replacement screen is completely bunk (and crap quality), take video showing the seller the difference (my screen still displays perfectly so I can show nice A/B comparisons)
- I leave my phone on I think with the original screen, which probably will kill the battery very fast (as the device doesn't go to sleep during the fake input events)
- Phone dead
Now, there is nothing I can do to charge this freaking phone. I've tried everything from leaving it on a 2A charger for 24 hours, every button combination imaginable with volumes + power, disconnected the battery to hard reset, nothing, nothing is happening. I don't think its charging at all because normally the battery/charging circuit has a bit of warmth when charging, but there's absolutely nothing. Tried a Qi charge, nothing. Slow PC trickle charge, nothing.
Is my phone dead dead? Does anyone know how to try and potentially force a charge to the battery? I'll buy another battery from Aliexpress but I'm hesitant to spend too much money on it as the screen is pretty much bust and Nexus 6 is around the corner. I just want to get my pictures and stuff off the phone.

Water usually ruins more than one single thing. I never advise people spend money trying to fix anything, like the screen in your case, cause often more ends up being wrong.
Keep your money in the future and just replace water damaged devices.
I think you are out of luck anyway... Sorry to say.

If your phone doesn't turn on.. Then no, you can't recover your files. Tough luck. Backup all your important files from now on!

Just an FYI as I have managed to fix the dead battery issue. I ordered a battery from AliExpress (this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/100-...T9-BLT9-Battery-Free-Shipping/2005328706.html), and it arrived today.
I plugged in the battery, and the phone turned on when I asked it to (success!). Now can I save my old battery? I plugged it into a 2A charger, and pulled the old battery connection (while the phone was at the homescreen). The phone turned off, however turned on immediately to the low-level charging screen (battery icon with lightning bolt in it), this is with no battery plugged in. So I quickly plugged in the old dead battery while it was at that screen, and BOOM, it started to charge!
Left it on for a good bit, charged to 75%, and now I've got it connected to the PC and pulling my entire /sdcard/ contents before I wipe it.
Just an idea if anyone else has a super dead battery!

Shocked the board

I was removing the inner plastic of the phone and accidentally shocked the board in this area. After that I can't charge my phone or see any display although I see Google pop up a few times with the digitizer flickering. Now without that battery I can hit power and it would vibrate. But other than that I can't see anything.
Here some pictures. Is my phone dead? I tried changing the USB charging ribbon L piece but that didn't work out. Wasnt OEM and poor fitment.

Without the battery I can power and it would vibrate without nothing on display. With battery it does nothing. Although I saw a red light briefly. I can NFC charge it. But won't power still. Not sure if I should spend any more money on this used banged up $80 n5.

Which part of the phone is or board is it linked to. Also I did anther experiment without the battery back light comes on see grey if I tap the online I see pixelated rainbow or TV black n white lines. Weird..

The area that you are pointing to has the battery connector right beside it. It could be the battery or the board.

Question even without the battery wouldn't the phone turn on and work as normal without the battery?

I've never been able to get an N5 to boot without the battery being connected, even an almost dead battery would allow the phone to boot as long as it is connected to a charger.

Well oh well thought I had a chance to fix it when the backlight and the phone would power on with 99% no display. Battery seems to charge through NFC but what's odd is that with the battery I can hold power nothing happens. Without battery it vibrates and I think it boots up but I'm not completely sure. I'm guessing because I would go into recovery and I can feel it vibrate once going into bootloader second time I hit the power button then it vibrates again. I think first option is to start

Don't worry, it can be fixed. I just fixed mine yesterday after spending 2 days contemplating buying a Nexus 5x due to this one being broken. For a few days my mic wasn't working then I realised that pressing hard just below the camera hump got it working again as you can see in the link below I replied with my solution, I suspect the problem isn't the long connector on the left but maybe a loose component behind it on the other side of the mainboard. I jammed some folded paper behind the board and now it works fine. Jamming it in front of the board worked but from time to time the screen went off and I had to reset the phone for it to work again.

Pixel XL power off by its own and won't turn on

Hi Guys,
I need help here. I can't send the phone back for warranty because I've imported it from else where. Also I didnt root it or install any mods or whatsoever. Running 7.1.2
I was just surfing the net, nothing fancy was loaded. It was in battery saver mode which means it should be in the range of 20ish% when all of a sudden it just shut down. Thinking it was perhaps low on battery and it shut down by itself I put it to charge, but there was no indication that it was charging.
I tried turning it on by holding on to the power button for almost a minute and nothing happens even when I waited for 10 mins and try again.
So i tried going to recovery mode but pressing power and vol. down button, after waiting for almost a minute there was a short vibration and thats it. And if I continue holding on to it, there was 5-6 short vibrations.
Is there anyone who can help me on this?

Maybe test the charger on a different device to be certain there is power going to the phone. Then leave it plugged in, walk away for 1 hour. Come back and try again... I've had devices seem to be completely dead because there was literally nothing in the battery. Plugged them in for a while, came back, worked like a charm. Of course this might be a long shot. Still worth a try. Good luck!

Tak the battery Out.
Rub the (+ & -) Polaris on your hair or a carpet (so it gets an electric energy) for 30 seconds.
Now place your tongue on tye polarises if you fell an electric shocked your thongue that means battery works fine.
Or else Its A problem in the battery

Doesn't seem to work.. Any more ideas?

Couple months back my pixel turned off while using it and called support, they replaced it under warranty. I never found out why it went dead. I know this don't help..

Just a quick update. I found a phone repair company whom were willing and is able to try repair my phone.
Will be back to post their findings if they are indeed able to do it.

Red Blink Errors - No Screen

So I have no idea what's going on with my phone:
It consists of 3-4 sucessive red LED flashes, can see a charge icon on the screen for like 0.25 ms (literally haha), and then it shuts off and this process just repeats.. any idea what is going on?

If it matters: The screen was cracked, and subsequently replaced, but that was some time ago..

I was having the same issue... Try holding the power button for 10-20 seconds too and see if that brings it out of its coma...it helps with my phone

1. I tried different charger, in fact 3 different ones.. still nothing
2. Service? What kind of service?
3. I held power down, it gets to the huawei splash screen, for again.. 1 sec than restarts

Tried that, took the battery out, plugged it in.. no more flashing red LED.. i see the huawei screen now, but it boot loops. If I insert the battery in while its plugged in like the above, than it does that led flash, and no screen.. so i'm thinking bad battery??

Last time your phone was working, did you use all the battery (until 0% and then power off by itself ? )
You can search a new battery on the Internet,
With the Model code at the top of it, you will find easily a new replacement battery)

If your battery goes under a certain level of charge, ie close to 0%, it's possible the onboard security prevent it to charge normally.
You can try the freezer trick, it helped me to recover an ipad with the same condition.
-Put your phone in a ziplock bag to prevent frosting and humidity.
-Let it rest at least 1h in the freezer
-As soon as you get it out of the freezer, plug it in a wall charger and wait at least 15 min before turning it on.

You should claim your warranty, contact your vendor.

I don't believe so, Its my backup phone so there is potential the battery would have hit 0% as I don't frequently use/charge it..

I had the phone unlocked/screen swapped.. doubt huawei will honor warranty

Hi there.
Did you managed to fix that? I have same problem. I just replaced screen with new one.
Firstly I connected new screen to motherboard and it worked perfectly. I put it all together, glued new screen to frame, connected flex'es to mobo and... nothing. Red light blinks, and screen flashes with "HONOR powered by Android" screen if I disconnect battery and just plug to usb.
Battery is not a problem, before repair it had about 70%, and now it's voltage is around 4,05V.
Any ideas?

same thing was happening to my huawie honor 8 for some time now... i brought a new screen n that didn't fix the problem ,,,,, the person that fixed the screen for me said it needed a power boost( or something to that extent) n in like a hr or so after not being able to start just the screen blinking it came on!!!!!!! i was ecstatic tbh... sadly like a week n a half- a month later the **** stopped working again ... the red light comes on when it charges n every thing but the screen doesn't fully respond just stays blank. i definitely think its a battery problem but not too sure
