Red Blink Errors - No Screen - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

So I have no idea what's going on with my phone:
It consists of 3-4 sucessive red LED flashes, can see a charge icon on the screen for like 0.25 ms (literally haha), and then it shuts off and this process just repeats.. any idea what is going on?
I've attached the video here: https://youtu.be/rnW2euEdKaE
If it matters: The screen was cracked, and subsequently replaced, but that was some time ago..

Hi,
Did you try another charger ?

Definatly for some service

I was having the same issue... Try holding the power button for 10-20 seconds too and see if that brings it out of its coma...it helps with my phone

Hey all, thanks for the suggestions.
1. I tried different charger, in fact 3 different ones.. still nothing
2. Service? What kind of service?
3. I held power down, it gets to the huawei splash screen, for again.. 1 sec than restarts
Any other suggestions, thanks!

I don't know if it's exactly the same thing, but perhaps Is this a way to make your phone working again

Tried that, took the battery out, plugged it in.. no more flashing red LED.. i see the huawei screen now, but it boot loops. If I insert the battery in while its plugged in like the above, than it does that led flash, and no screen.. so i'm thinking bad battery??

It's certainly the battery,
Last time your phone was working, did you use all the battery (until 0% and then power off by itself ? )
You can search a new battery on the Internet,
With the Model code at the top of it, you will find easily a new replacement battery)

If your battery goes under a certain level of charge, ie close to 0%, it's possible the onboard security prevent it to charge normally.
You can try the freezer trick, it helped me to recover an ipad with the same condition.
-Put your phone in a ziplock bag to prevent frosting and humidity.
-Let it rest at least 1h in the freezer
-As soon as you get it out of the freezer, plug it in a wall charger and wait at least 15 min before turning it on.

You should claim your warranty, contact your vendor.

I don't believe so, Its my backup phone so there is potential the battery would have hit 0% as I don't frequently use/charge it..

Hi there.
Did you managed to fix that? I have same problem. I just replaced screen with new one.
Firstly I connected new screen to motherboard and it worked perfectly. I put it all together, glued new screen to frame, connected flex'es to mobo and... nothing. Red light blinks, and screen flashes with "HONOR powered by Android" screen if I disconnect battery and just plug to usb.
Battery is not a problem, before repair it had about 70%, and now it's voltage is around 4,05V.
Any ideas?

same thing was happening to my huawie honor 8 for some time now... i brought a new screen n that didn't fix the problem ,,,,, the person that fixed the screen for me said it needed a power boost( or something to that extent) n in like a hr or so after not being able to start just the screen blinking it came on!!!!!!! i was ecstatic tbh... sadly like a week n a half- a month later the **** stopped working again ... the red light comes on when it charges n every thing but the screen doesn't fully respond just stays blank. i definitely think its a battery problem but not too sure

vox - turns itself off with no reason ;/

hi,
as you can see, I've got quite unusual problem with my vox.
the phone screen goes black, it blinks once the right green diode for half a second (could this be an error code?) and turns itself off. (not saving any changes made, or sms sent/recieved)
it usually happens when I make a phonecall, or browse the net, but lately it has started to happen randomly, when I browse the menu, or use any other programs.
What's interesting, is that after turning the phone back on form such a malfunction, the battery status shows it's below 20% and turns itself off again almost instantly.
The only solution I've found so far, is to wait some time, switch it on again, and pray that the battery indicator would show the state before malfunctionong. If it does, the phone could work as long as the battery remains charged (or turn itself off again, as it happens more frequently lately)
Does anybody hav some clue what could it be? malfunction of the battery, or phone itself?
I dont think it's a software issue, because just yesterday I replaced WM6.1 (drGonzo) with wm 6.5 ( the 2.1 ver by frauhottelmann)
and it still occusrs.
Same problem
Yeah i am also facing the same problem with my Vox...it is around 1.5 yrs old...and i know its battery is dying...but it happens even the battery is fully charged...
Is it really because of the battery or some hardware...
Dude its due to battery .May be you are charging your machine through USB. Your battery need replacement..It will show you full battery. Its false showy.
I faced the same. Now I happy after changing my batttery
FIrst of all check the battery mates.
Me and my friend both had the vox that with full battery charged suddenly turned off after a call...and definitely was THE BATTERY.
Now I bought a double capacity for about 10 euros shipped...and my vox stays on without intensive usage (3-4 calls of 4 min each, and about 10-15 sms for about 8 (EIGHT) days)
Try to empty the battery completely and then recharge it completely!
To really empty it, put it in boot loader and unplug the cable. Let it sit until the screen turns off. Then recharge it without turning the device on.
My phone has started doing this recently, it doesnt seem to be as bad if I put it on Aircraft mode, but it always turns off randomly after a while at least, I am going to try frauhottelmann idea now.
Also, if it works I would like to flash it to WM6.5, how can I check to see if I need the USLP? I got the phone second hand so I am not sure what the phone was originally.
Had this problem for a few weeks now. Just put it into boot loader mode to see if it works. Shall let you know later or tomorrow

Since i m facing the same problem and that now it is confirmed that it is due to battery, I wished to try FMs idea. but its now more than 2 days in bootloader, my phone is still not discharged completely. is there any other way to completely discharge the battery?
Well, seems your battery has plenty of life! LoL
BTW I suggest you to activate BT and WIFI...then run TCMP into loop and maximum volume...
the phone should run out fast...when the phone suts itself off..you could do the FM's thing just to refine the discharge.

yap, its the battery alright. facing the same issue, but the battery is warn out due to intensive charging from my car...
so, incoming new battery
actually i think i have a different kind of problem... my mobiles do not restarts instantly, the screen first fades to grey (as if the lcd is damaged with only grey and white vertical lines visible), and then to black and then it restarts. has any one faced similar problems? Can this be solved by changing the battery?
and i dont know but somehow each time i set the correct TIME in the clock, after sometime my clock slows and shows the wrong time(as in case of a wall clock with weak batteries).
any suggestions?
This method worked for me....

An easier way to turn the phone off other than having to remove and rinsert the battery if the power button does not work, is to open the Sim card door.

[Q] Blank screen when turning on phone?

Hi, I'll explain what happened.
My phone recently turned off (the screen kind of fizzled away to black) So I assumed this was the battery running out. When I got home I put it on charge and as I usually do waited a few minutes, then tried to turn on, to charge whilst on, the screen lit up the phone vibrated and the start up tune played, but only a lit up blank screen appeared?
I thought it might need more charging so I removed the batter to turn it off and put on charge again, whilst it was "charging" there was a flashing amber light for about 4 seconds at a time, this never turns steady or green, when just leaving on charge.
After numerous batter removals and replace the phone still does the same thing when turned on, but now with no sound, and still appears if the screen is on but blank and the four soft keys are lit, then if I press the power button or if I leave it, the screen goes off itself until I press the power key again (this same thing that would happen if going to lock screen). All of this happening with a now flashing green light?
I tried to access phone by USB cable and although laptop picks up fact something is plugged into USB, it doesn't appear on HTC sync or memory card doesn't appear.
When trying to hold in volume down and power on it's as if it's going to the right screen but still blank.
Stock rom on phone, S-OFF
Anyone have any ideas, without replacing phone?
Thanks
its seems like your phone has bricked.
1. First try this
2. if step 1 doesnt work, follow this

Have you tried a new battery? My phone went completely black while charging and it showed no signs of life, no charging light nothing. It was a new battery with about 60Percent charge when I put it on the charger. I noticed like you did, I tired to charge more but not even a light would come on. I happened to have another fully charged battery I kept as a spare. When I put the spare battery in, the phone sprang back to life! I threw the other battery away and have had zero problems since. So I suggest you try a new fully charged battery before you do any thing else. Strange thing was the battery I was using was fine the day before and even had the 60 percent charge when I put it on charger. I'm not sure how it happens but somehow the battery just died on charger. So give a new battery a try and see if it will also help you. If it doesn't, then likely it's failure of your device. But please do try because the exact same thing happened to me and the new fully charged battery fixed the problem! I'm hoping it will also fix it for you! Best of luck! You can get a good battery online for under 20 dollars. I recommend Anker extended battery. I really hope this works for you! Let us know.

Phone acting weird and won't charge unless it is power off.

Hi everyone,
I have several problems with my AT&T 8X. First, the screen keeps on cycling through the brightness level non stop, so its constantly changing the brightness. I've tried to turn off the auto-brightness but that doesnt seem to help and this only happen after the phone booted up and I touch the screen so Im thinking it's a software issue. ANother one is that when the phone is one, the computer wont recognize the phone and it won't charge, both AC and PC charging. To charge the phone I would have to power it off and plug it in. It wouldn;t have been so bad if it wasnt for the fact that whenever the phone is power on again, there's a high chance that it will boot loop and I'll have to do a hard reset to fix it. All of these looks to be software problem to me. Hard reset doesnt seem to fix them though, does anyone has any idea?

I actually did drain the battery and charge it up again. I had to remove the screen though since it wont charge keep keep boot loop every 3 seconds. so I had to take out the screen and charge the battery separately by manually hook up the wires to it. And htc service center is no longer an option since it is no longer under warranty, which is why I opened it up in the first place lol.

You'd taken out the battery?? Thats a really hard work!! Battery is hidden inside right? and we'll have to remove everything just to reach the battery!! Did you do it on your own? I'd actually heard removing battery is very dangerous and we should be very careful since it's behind the screen and the connecting wires are too thin :silly:
If you take off the screen, there's a cable that connect the screen and the components to the battery, all you have to do is unclip the cable and hook the wire to the battery correctly (positive and negative side) and just plug it in to charge for 30 mins. Since the phone won't turn on, the battery left to be charged fully rather than keeping going into bootloop.
You don't actually have to remove the battery, just need to separate the screen from the back.

Shutting down after startup

Hi,
there are some threads about the bootloop problem, but I couldn't find exactly same problem: some days ago my phone landed into the bootloop. It was a bit spooky with battery charging state, it was jumping for different states - 3%, 99%, 24% after every loop. So I bought a new battery and replaced the old one. Now the phone starts to LG logo (with starting sound), but after 10 seconds I can hear the power-off sound and the phone turns off. It seems to be a "normal" shutdown, not the "reset-bootloop": I hear power-off-sound, LG-power-off-logo and LED is blinking blue for about 10 seconds. After that it repeats infinitely. Also, if I turn the phone off it stays off, but if I put the charger in it, it's starts from itself again and again. Did not tried the hard reset until now. Any ideas, guys?
update: tried hard reset. it's starts until "optimizing apps", if it's done, i can see for a second the "first setup" screen and then it's immediately shutting down. same problem with the old, original battery.
edit: for the first time I saw message "high temperature" on the screen, before it was powered off. But the phone is not even warm...

What you describe is exactly that happened to the Mrs's GF2. One day it was fine and then all of a sudden the battery drained really quick. Now she can only get to the optimizing apps screen before it shuts down again. Ordered a new battery but that doesn't look to be the solution from your findings. :crying:
My phone has the exact same prblm n i was thinking of buying a battery but now that i have read your post i am doubting my battery purchase.
By the way have u found any fix also are u sure the battery is genuine n not some poor replica?
I had this problem when I had flux in my battery port causing a battery connection problem. Sometimes it said temperature too high and other times temperature too low. I was able to fix it by taking out the motherboard using 90% alcohol and a toothbrush to clean the battery port in the motherboard. Then I let it dry and problem was gone. Now I'm not saying this is exactly your problem but it just means that there's most likely bad connectivity to your battery. It could be your battery, the cable or the port.
Mrs received her new battery and it seemed genuine. Put it in and the phone is 100% dead. No power, no charging, no life.
Its not all bad news as she bought a Honor 6X which is a far better phone.
I tried all the hints I could find (except cleaning it with alcohol), but nothing help to start the phone again. Could be defective heat/temp sensor on the motherboard.
Battery was from "Polarcell" - that's a pretty good one manufacturer with satisfied user reviews on amazon (also had good personal experience with their batteries). Just for info: phone doesn't even start with original battery anymore - same problem.
I already switched to Honor 9 (excellent phone!), but will give another try and clean the battery attachment port with alcohol today. Will give you an update later.
If you plug the phone into the charger does it even show the battery charging symbol at all?
From what I've been reading the temp sensor is in the battery and sends the temp signal through the battery connector to the motherboard. So if you replace the battery it's like plugin in a new temp sensor. However if the connector is bad then that's the only thing that I can think off that would prevent the phone from starting. If the port is bad I don't know if it can be fixed or not.
Had no luck yesterday with port cleaning. Still the same error.

Yes, but it's more complicated. If the phone is turned off and you plug USB in, it starts to boot from itself (without pressing the power button). In most cases it's going up to LG logo and powering off again. After powering off I can see battery charging symbol for about 5 seconds, after that it's changing to battery symbol with an thermometer. While the phone is in this bootloop, it's charging. From the point with this battery temperature symbol it stops charging. I read something on reddit about getting it up to 100% could solve the problem. So, I tried to plug it on and off about 50 times to get fully charged, got it up to 100%, but it's still rebooting. Can't get into recovery, but it's possible to get into the "hard reset"-menu, where I can wipe data. After this the phone boots normally (at the first sign), it's starting optimizing apps, I can see the "first-setup"-screen (that one with language chooser) for a half second and it turns off again. Same behavior with both batteries - new one and the original.

That's a lot of combined symptoms. I have no idea what could be wrong with yours exactly. I would try to bake the motherboard with solder flux as a last resort. I had to do that with my G flex 2 twice to bring it back to life. I'm not sure if it would fix it in your case, but at this point you don't have much to lose.

I've already spent enough time with trying get it back to life. Loved this phone, but I had to send it to LG service every half year (3 times!) and got it every time with a new motherboard back. My brother had to send his one two times within a year because of several problems (no vibration, no sound through 3.5 jack...). Furthermore it was not possible to root or unlock the bootloader since Android 6 (what I've got with the last replaced mainboard, but what was not available through the software update!). So, just for me it was a very bad experience and for sure I'll not buy an LG phone for the next 10 years.

Oh, that might void your warranty if you changed battery yourself. As I can see you're from Germany, EU, so you should ask for DAP (defective after purchase) act from service to get refund for your phone.
I've never heard about DAP. Do I give them my phone and get from them some money back or what is that about? Is it an manufacturer service or general refund possibility in EU?

Poco F2 Pro does not turn on when charging

Hey!
Yesterday I've stumbled upon a very serious (to me) problem, to which I cannot find any solution anywhere - I guess nobody so far reported anything like that.
My phone went out of battery (discharged to 0% and turned off, it was when I really could not plug it to charging).
When I connected it to charging, there was no reaction apart from the red light at the top of the frame, indicating that the phone is charging, but has low battery.
Apart from that, the phone looks like it is dead. It does not respond to anything - cannot be turned on nor enter the recovery/fastboot mode. The screen simply remains black, while the diode located in the pop-up camera lights red. As soon as I disconnect the phone, the red light goes off too.
I've had exactly the same problem once in the past, but then it came back to normal after 2-3 hours of charging with the red light on. Then the light became yellow, indicating the battery is "normal" and the screen regained functionality and the system booted like normal. This time however, it has been charging for over 24 hours and the phone still plays dead and the annoying red light is still there, giving me hope that the phone is not entirely dead.
How can I fix that? Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong subforum, but that's my first time. I only used your custom ROMs and kernels back in 2015-2017, but never posted anything.
Any feedback on the problem will be greatly appreciated!
I take it you tested with another cable and or another charger?
Which rom currently?

thank you for answering!
The charger and cable does not matter, the issue is still there. The phone detects that it is being charged, right now it has been charging for about 25 hours with several breaks for several minutes (I tried turning it on with the charger unplugged).
ROM is the latest official stable MIUI release. On this particular phone I haven't unlocked bootloader or messed with software in any way.
don't bother, send it back to the seller.
.
okay, thank you. I will wait and see if anyone else got any suggestion.
Put some pressure on the right hand top of the phone or try to bend it a little bit on that spot.
When it is charging then, send it back to the reseller under warranty.|
It happened with a few users and they got under warranty a new F2 Pro. (EU).
How long did you press on power on to turn it on? It take less than 5 sec to power on normally.
Once I have to press for long time to turn it on.
I got the same problem just now. Did you discover a fix?
