How to Root, install TWRP, Xposed on Samsung A9 SM-A9000 2016 - Android General

I have my Samsung Galaxy A9 SM-A9000 bought here in the Philippines.
you need to download the following; with their links provided
Odin3 v3.10.7 (im using)
Stock 5.1.1 latest A9000ZZH1APD3 HK TGY firmware using Samfirm
Stock 6.0.1 A9000ZZH1BPI3 HK TGY firmware using Samfirm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
download TWRP
A9000-TWRP-PA7_kernel.rar
BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip
for Xposed framework
XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
xposed-v86.0-sdk22-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160709.zip for Lollipop
xposed-v86.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160904.zip for Marshmallow
Procedure.
1. Using Odin3 flash your downloaded firmware HK A9000ZZH1APD for SM-A9000, phone will reboot, wait until it return to the main screen.
2. reboot and press Center, Vol Down and Power button (download mode) and flash the A9000-TWRP-PA7_kernel.rar, then wait until it return to the main screen.
3. reboot and press Center, Vol UP and Power button, you'll be in the TWRP recovery, flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip this will take times, it will shows that it is updating with green background, just wait again until it will return to main screen. *i swear just wait until it returns to the main screen*
4. reboot and press Center, Vol UP and Power button, you'll be in the TWRP recovery, flash xposed-v86.0-sdk22-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160709.zip then it will reboot again, it will take longer *or not* wait until it return to main screen.
5. then install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
Voila! you have rooted with TWRP recovery and installed xposed framework. oh by the way if you're looking for effective adblocker for xposed, google pl.cinek.adblocker-1.8-free-www.kekaku.com.apk the most effective adblocker had been created! if you want to get rid and to disable pre-installed Knox on your Samsung, flash KNOX-FREE_TEKHD on TWRP recovery.
hopefully this will be helpful to Samsung Galaxy A9 SM-A9000 2016 users and also, I hope my account has enable uploading files...
enjoy!
to admin, how to enable uploading features on file servers of XDA? thanks!

This looks great, if I don't sell mine in forthcoming days, I'll definitely do it...thx

Could you send me or upload the TWRP file please? I couldn´t find it anywhere.

links for download provided.

up! I got the HK 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, same procedure. in regards of having error on Google Play Store, YOU MUST NOT update the PLAYSTORE if it showing in your notification, restart for at least 2-4 times, it will not show the notification that requires to upgrade it. just a FAIR WARNING, if you accidentally upgrade the Google Play Store, it will give you error. the remedy, try again re-flash with the latest firmware, then this time avoid updating the erring app.
good luck!

Thanks for your advice! Questions:
1. already have version Odin3_v3.12.3. I can use this version, or should I use Odin3 v3.10.7?
2. The SD card need to be removed from the phone, (In the process of firmware update) or its better to format?

No it's ok with the SD inserted during flashing, no problem with the latest odin I think.

Thanks! I have already updated to 6.0.1 Everything works fine so far.

Radio switch in the settings mode RDS and the sound switches to mono. If you disable RDS, the sound remains mono until you restart the phone.

SM-N900W8 4.4.2 Kit Kat Available

The SN-N900W8 Version of the Note 3 is finally seeing its Official Kit Kt Update.
The first carriers seeing the update are in Canada. Hope The rest of America will see it soon enough.
Please check Software updates in your phone or go to the usual sites to download and install via ODIN.
Please also report if you install this version in phones from other regions/providers, like South America.
Regards
You can download it from:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900W8
Just be sure to use your correct model and Odin version according to the instructions in each site.
Everything is under your own risk as usual.
I updated via ODIN without doing Resets or CleanUps, and it upgraded to 4.4.2 pretty nice, while keeping all my apps and without losing data.

Can you point me in the right direction.
I did an updated to 4.4.2 (KK) with Kies successfully, but I can't get root back.
Tried CF-Autoroot as before, but my recovery always says "recovery is not seandroid enforce" and just reboots to normal phone without supersu.
Any help by anybody would be appreciated.

Friend: I think you better go and read the info in the Android Development Threads. The information there is very complete and fine.
Please be aware that the current root methods over 4.4.2 are for other models not the W8.
I think somebody needs to jump in here and test ways to do root. To be Honest, I don't do root with my Note 3, as I still have to find a reason to do it. For me everything is working nice without Root.
I was thinking about flashing official 4.4.2 for Telus/Koodo, but I haven't really seen anything that says it's rootable at the moment, so I'm hesitant to upgrade to stock 4.4.2. I'm really just looking for the latest Telus/Koodo modem from 4.4.2 (currently running MJ4 baseband), I'm pretty happy with CM11. Can I just extract the modem.bin from the 4.4.2 file from Sammobile and flash it with Odin?

Probably can't un-trip the knox but so what... I don't expect to get warranty so I'll do the best way, Odin and correct firmware. Then you'll have to re-root again. But you're knox tripped, meh..

If you have the time can you do a step by step guide on how you did the kit kat update, together with root and twrp, and if possible tell us where you got the right files from? Its kind of confusing what we can install and not install on our phones since there are so many different models for the note 3 and no one wants to trip knox if they dont have to.

Here is a quick and dirty guide of how I flashed and rooted 4.4.2 on my Bell Note 3.
1 download carrier firmware from sammobile
2 unzip to single tar file (N900W8VLUCNB7_N900W8OYACNB7_N900W8VLUCNB7_HOME.tar)
3 put phone in download mode (make sure you see the red/white text at the top i.e. if knox is tripped etc.)
4 open odin 3.09 as admin
5 click AP and select the tar file and then click start
6 wait
7 once phone is booted
8 download CF Root -> CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
9 I used odin supplied in the CF zip (Odin 3.07)
10 Select AP then -> CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5
11 Click Start
12 Wait for phone to reboot
13 Enjoy Root
At this point I also installed TWRP 2.7.0.0

Didnt know there was an ND5. There wasnt even an ND5 when I downloaded the kernel source code from samsung. And nope, There like 2 knox files in the entire firmwares which is just left behind crap I believe. Absolutely does not give you a knox bootloader and crap tho. Do make sure your tablet is a T230NU model and not just a T230 model.
Thanks a lot for this. So if I'm rooted and want to install system updates I would first backup data to sd card via titanium ,(or to pc?) , then factory restore via settings, Odin with this firmware, install updates, then vroot + terminal supersu, then restore backups.... correct? I'm still trying to figure out what bloatware is safe to remove...a guide on how to clean a out of the box tab 4 7.0 would be greatly appricated....
Will this Root my T230NU?
Hi, I am new to the Android market and I was wondering if this "stock" image will root my Samsung Galaxy 4 T230NU.
I am a formerly iDevice owner and I am quite familiar with Jailbreaking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello Ed,
I'm kind of new as well however I can tell you that this process will not root it. In my case, because I updated the software I had to use the stock Rom in order to downgrade and then root it. ShinySide explains the.. Rooting procedure in another post

So I rooted my Tab 4 7" and then decided to switch to Nexus 7 and sell my Tab 4. Both great devices but the specs and updates draw me to try Nexus after the Tab. Anyway, I went to Sammobile to get the Stock rom and inadvertently ended up with the Nook version. OOOPS. Had to reflash but the second firmware I downloaded from Sammobile (at about 1 hour each, ugh) kept failing. Even after wiping the Cache and resetting I could not flash with Odin. Tried placing the image on the SD and installing in Recovery and still no luck. Then I turned to the ONLY source for self support of Android and found ShinySide with the stuff I needed. Downloaded with the Mega link which took 20+ min instead of an hour and it flashed straight away and my Tab 4 is back to being a Tab 4 instead of a Nook. Just wanted to give props to ShinySide for his efforts on behalf of the community and his patience to put up with noobs even when they do/say silly stuff!
Thank you so much!!

HI so i tried installing twrp recovery for my SM-t230NU And it got stuck in bootloop after trying to load custom recovery. Not a single Tar file md5 file worked until i got this rom and USED odin to install it. Odin just kept crashing on me till I got here and used the md5 file provided. Any luck i finally got my unbricked after 16 hours of searching.

Lollipop has finally arrived for SM-N9005, here's how you can achieve awesomeness!

Since no-body has started a thread for Lollipop on our beloved SM-N9005's, I thought I'd start one for us
Here's what you need in order to achieve awesomeness:
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005 ONLY!)
The firmware file located here: https://mega.co.nz/#!qk12UYYB!4fg39KkeatkTtcShS4rUljWpU1rGnMC9XL3C17z8Crk
Or here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/43185/N9005XXUGBOA5_N9005VFGGBOA2_VOD.zip/ (UK Vodafone) others can be found at http://www.sammobile.com
Odin - located here:http://www.mediafire.com/download/vwuqru9m1jp9wbw/Odin3_v3.09.zip/
The Samsung drivers installed, if not they can be found here:http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
1. First you need to download the firmware package, once done, extract
2. Then you need to install the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 drivers (if you have not already done so, if you have, proceed to step 3)
3. Extract Odin.
4. Open Odin using right click, run as administrator.
5. Their is a .PIT located in the firmware folder you extracted in step 1. This is for the 32GB variant ONLY! Using this on the 16GB variant will most likely result in a brick! If you have the 16GB variant, skip to step 6. If you have the 32GB variant, flashing with the .PIT is optional. If you wish to use it, click pit in Odin and locate the extracted file from step 1, and select the .PIT.
6. Click Bootloader and select the file that starts with BL.
7. Click PDA AND select the file that starts with AP.
8. Click CSC and select the file that starts with CSC.
9. Click Modem and select the file you haven't yet selected.
10. Then you need to power off your device.
11. Once done, we need download mode, to enter this you need to hold Vol Down + Home + Power at the same time. Once done you will be prompted with a screen with a load of writing about custom roms etc, press Vol Up to continue.
If you're using the .PIT (remember 32GB variant ONLY!!) On the left hand side, make sure auto reboot is checked, repartition is checked, F. Reset Time is checked and Phone Bootloader Update is checked.
Once all these details are entered correctly and you're happy to proceed, press start.
Let it do its business, it usually takes around 8-9 mins to complete. Once done you're running pure awesomeness on your device.
Please Note: I can't stress enough that the .PIT file is for the 32GB variant ONLY!!!!! if you're running the 16GB variant, DO NOT USE THE .PIT FILE!!!!!!!!
Also, I take no responsibility for bricked or damaged devices, by participating in the above, you take all responsibility for yourself and for your device. You have been warned my friends. Happy flashing!

does the room working perfectly ?
will it trip knox ?
Works like a treat mate. It won't trip knox because it's official Samsung
The Batterylife is, in my opinion, quiet amazing.
Got nearly 4 hours of screen time, with highest brightness, nearly 2 hours phone callin, more then one hour of skype, more then one hour 9gag and wlan/mobile data permanantly on.
Did anybody try the towelroot method by flashing the ND3 Kernel and reflashing back this kernel ?
what about video camera and playback of vids??Mine was freezing on startup and then rebooting

My BL,CP,CSC and UMS options in Odin 3.09 are shaded out and can't be selected.
Can I just add the zipped package to AP and flash that with the PIT file?
Windows 10 preview, Note 3 N9005 3UK
Does this ROM have pt-br language? Works normally in Brazil?
Official ROM or Leaked?
I can't quite figure out one thing, this ROM is an official one or a leaked one? Cause I don't see anything in sammobile for N9005

S6 - SM-G920i Firmware

Hey everyone,
I have a g920idvu1aod1 Samsung that I bought off of eBay, pretty sure it came from Latin America. Anyways, is there an OTA update or a firmware I can flash to get to 5.1.1? Everyone else seems to have this update but when I go into settings, there's nothing.
Any ideas?
India currently has the latest 5.1.1 firmware for the 920i. Download from: http://samsung-updates.com/details/48408/Galaxy_S6_SM-G920I/SM-G920I/INU/G920IDVU2COF8.html and flash with Odin.
The phone isn't from India though, like I said in the OP. It's from Latin America.. will it still work if I flash..? Because I believe that it's a different baseband version. Mine ends in AOD1.. the one you gave me ends in COF8.

Doesn't matter, still works.
The letters at the end are just the version number.
So long as it is for a 920i you're sweet to go. (My phone is from Australia, works fine on Indian firmware.)
edit: This link here should be faster to download the Samsung-updates, it's the same one I used on my phone.: http://d-h.st/YOpx
Use the "Download Now" button, not the normal "Download" Button for a direct link rather then a dodgy looking .exe file

Alright, I'll try it out tonight! Do I just put this file in the "AP" section of odin and I'm good to go?
Do I have to be in "downloading" mode? Sorry, I'm a noob

Spot on mate. Put phone in Download mode, then flash with ap section of Odin.
Backup anything you want to keep first as this will erase absolutely everything on your phone and update your bootloader, baseband, modem etc. to the latest versions and start up like a brand new phone again.

Dunno, only used it for 5 minutes.
Basically just wanted the new baseband, bootloader and modem then flashed back to a modified bogg for the system itself.

GPS fix - I was fighting with my GPS for quite some time until I found this config.
I was inspired by @Imprezzion post here. Updated drivers, Odin and added GPS config file that worked for me.
Note: GPS fix is optional - if your GPS works fine just ignore it.
Please follow the !_ReadMeFirst.txt:
Code:
Installing Samsung USB Driver
-----------------------------
1. Disconnect from internet (to prevent Windows Update overriding the drivers).
2. Run the Setup.exe (when finished, you'll see info that installation was unsuccessfully - that's fine).
3. When done, turn off you phone and power it up by holding: Vol.Down + Home + Power.
4. Push Vol.Up as requested and connect phone to your PC with USB cable.
5. Wait for drivers to install/recognize the phone.
6. Hold Power button until phone shouts down.
Before flashing anything with Odin
----------------------------------
Always TURN OFF your phone and enter
Download mode by pressing and holding
Vol.Down + Home + Power. Next press Vol.Up.
Then:
1. Run Odin on your PC.
2. Connect phone to USB.
3. Press BL button and select: BL_N9005DXSGBQA1.tar
4. Press CP button and select: CP_N9005XXUGBPI1.tar
5. Press Start button.
6. When phone restarts you can disconnect it from USB.
If you experience problems with GPS
-----------------------------------
Override your gps.conf(/system/etc/) file with the
one in "\GPS fix\gps.conf"
Back up your original file - just rename.
Restart phone.
Download(Google drive)

Make sure you use TWRP 2.8.7.0. The new ones don't support aroma installer.
For custom roms I do recommend combo from my signature.

I downloaded the latest stock rom from sammobile and in my bootloader at the end of bootscreen (galaxy note 3 n9005) it shows powered by android.
In this one you posted here it is without Powered by android logo. i downloaded this : N9005DXSGBQA1_N9005OLBGBOK3_N9005DXUGBOK3_HOME.tar

The bootscreen logo has nothing to do with boot-loader AFAIK. The N9005DXUGBOK3 is quite old (2015) and it is from Singapore ROM not EU.

Europe networks and phone models .
I was having the same problem like you.But last month i found the cure. Not the bootloader is the problem. The modem.I updated to last bootloader and modem and when i try gps i saw a lot of sattelits but no lock. Also i remember last year i have an older bootloader and an older modem ( PI1 ).I tryied 3 different new modems and bootloader but the same. Then i remain with new bootloader and try that modem. And all was good.A lot of sattelits and lock in seconds. So modem is the big problem. ?
