Hello everyone,
I got my Nexus 5 in white back in August and it's an amazing phone but I recently came across something that confused me.
As I tried to apply a tempered glass screen protector I noticed I couldn't get it to apply properly on the bottom, right under the screen. After a closer look I found out that the glass isn't even there. It's curved inwards which in turn makes it impossible to apply a glass screen protector without air.
Now the device is functioning fine but I'm not sure if this will be covered by warranty. It seems like a defect since I can't think of any physical event causing that. I've never let it fall down and it's still in perfect condition otherwise.
If I could get some advise on what I can do here or if anyone's got similar experience I'd love to hear about it.
Same here just below led notification it's nothing and came like this from factory I have my n5 since last week seen this the 2nd day but you can see it just when you move the phone in light it does not bother me I don't use any screen protector
You need to gently clamp in together on that spot, using a thin cloth to avoid scratches. Leave it for an hour and should stay gone.
Did with my Mime ghost glass. ?

Don't over do it obviously, or you could crack it.
Yes it is not quite flat. As above, clamp it for 30 minutes or so. I used some cloth wrapped around the phone and a bulldog clip.
This is a commong thing? That doesn't sound good, I kinda hope it's covered by warranty, I'll contact the vendor to see if they can replace it.
They're all the same. Just a design flaw.
Replace it and you'll most likely see the next one is no different.

Every one of them is like this. It may even be intentional rather than a flaw. We don't know. Its just the way the N5 is.
So, I dropped my Moto X Style a couple of weeks ago, the screen broke and the touch stopped working from the top-half of the display.
Decided to change the screen myself, so i bought a new one and watched a couple of videos with instructions.
Everything was fine, till I reassembled the phone.
I tried to turn it on and got the initial vibration, and if i wait enough i can hear the receiving notification ring, but the screen dont turn on and neither the touch works.
Someone went through the same problem? Am I forgetting something?
did you check to make sure all ribbon cables were in place? I just changed mine yesterday and had no problems, except for not realizing the new screen and front frame didnt come with the speaker grill/plastic things or the front flash/led, luckily i didnt throw those out. im stoked i was 2 for 2 yesterday, successfully did a glass only repair on an s4 (dont see what all the fuss is about....) and the moto. id say take it apart again and make sure you got all the connections in place, otherwise check and see if they will offer a replacement for a bunk screen, if not, they shipped me 2 replacement screens (i think due to user error on my girlfriends end, she bought it, and is prone to that kinda thing ) i could probably sell you for what it cost, unless she wants to send it back for whatever reason

I need to fix my XT1575 as well and am looking to buy a screen. Is it just the glass or the whole display? Also, how much does it cost?
Whole display +front frame (realized after I put mine in that it doesn't include the speaker grills or front Led, so save those!) and I'll have to double check but I believe 90~ish (whatever the going rate is in eBay) noticed on the one I installed that you can see one of the lights through the screen in one spot at a certain angle with white screen, 8ll post updates if anything goes bad though to avoid seller, but as of now still working great /light new
I just got done replacing my screen as well. Bought it off eBay for about $80.
I am posting to second Skinnykinney's warning about the front LED. Don't forget to pry it out of the old frame!!! I am going to have to take mine back apart because I just noticed the new frame didn't include it.
And another thing, don't take the silver screw out when you take all 20 of the t4 screws out of the back! The silver screw holds in the power and volume buttons and you might loose the teeny little springs if you remove that screw. You can leave the silver screw in when disassembling.
There are a couple of videos on YouTube about disassembling the Pure, but neither of them mention those two important things. All in all its pretty easy though.
Yeah I didn't even know about the tiny microscopic springs until I watched a different video that showed them, so those are also long gone.. Don't really notice it though luckily still functions just fine, just annoying thatci have that big old hole where that led went, never could find the little sucker, thankfully I have no reason to use the front camera ever just gotta tape it up to keep lint/other pocket debris out of it
Can you show me the videos ?
I don't have them offhand but it was one of the few videos they have on Facebook, and there's one on xda

The phone itself is really easy to breakdown though I used a hairdryer to loosen back adhesive just be careful of the ribbon cables near power button the rest is pretty straight forward and the back should just stick back on without needing to use new adhesive

Hi guys and gals, so I have determined the cause and solution in some cases of pink screen line.
NOTE: I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR FURTHER DAMAGE YOU CAUSE BY TRYING THIS! THIS IS MEANT AS A LAST RESORT BEFORE REPLACING THE ENTIRE SCREEN/DIGITIZER!
Problem :
Problem is with the flex ribbon cable that attaches to the screen. I had the pink line and had smashed my screen, so I ordered a new one and replaced it.
Cause:
The high heat of our device melts the glue that attaches the ribbon. I learned that because after speed testing kernels on the device with the new screen, the line eventually reappeared.
Solution:
Heat can also fix the problem, if it hasn't gotten too bad. If you can find the pressure or position where the pink line goes away, use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the area at the top right of the screen, usually at the selfie camera. Heat from above so you're heating the screen and the top of the device. Once it's hot, but not too hot (yes frustrating but only do this as a last resort before buying a replacement screen), then allow to cool naturally back to room temp. If the line was absent the whole time heating and cooling, there's a chance you've fixed it.
DANGEROUS LAST RESORT:
THIS IS 90% CERTAIN TO CRACK YOUR SCREEN! Now, if this didn't work, and you're Very adventurous, you can search Google for s7 edge ifixit, and see how you can CAREFULLY heat the glue around the whole screen. Don't remove the screen, as it WILL break! But perhaps you can get a pick or card into the top just enough to see the flex ribbon, use same pick or card to lightly press the ribbon as you heat and cool as per above instructions.
It would've been awesome if there was a video tutorial.
Someone tested it ? Some video tutorial could be really helpfully to repair this. What temperature should i go ? I think the best option will be to use a hot air soldering station but i need more info.
Best regards RufleX

Hello.
I work allot with prints directly. Scripting flashing repairing and debug in field. So I can asure you on a fact this will work.
The only part I'm questioning is the fact if they did use glue for a flat cable. Since logic wise for differemt prints ypu use a lock way cheaper and easier to replace parts.
If they dis use glue this fix will only be a temporary one. Since the glue will spread more and more. Each time you will do it this way.
So like I said. What the best man said is true. It will work. Only if it is glue. It might be possible it will only work for like 3 months or so. Depends on the ammount of glue and connector type they use. Can't say anything about that part. Only reason I reply because no one else did since u asked this question.
Yesterday was a really hot day (well for England) and part way through, I noticed a very thin pink line appear. The phone was hot but not entirely my fault.
Anyway, it disappeared a few minutes later and hasn't returned. Slightly worrying though.
Back today. Pressing hard on the top right actually makes it thicker. Gone again as I type this message.
Is it covered by warranty?

Ill go with the first guys suggestion. As i ve done this before with many electrical products. I will not go sticking objects into my waterproof phone.
Did anyone try to open in via the back and push something in to hold the connector like in this s6 edge video ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed2VvM7uEIE
there is a whole group on this problem
see fb group

I had this issue repaired under warranty. What surprised me from the beginning of owning this phone was just how hot it would get when the screen was on, firmware updates and so on. Sometimes almost too hot to touch. Since the repair it only ever gets mildly warm. I didn't get a repair sheet when the phone came back but I wonder if it was just the screen that was replaced or whether the screens have been redesigned?
Has anyone tried the last resort?
Nothings helped I brought it back to shop where i bought it . my device has 2 years warrenty . I get a new device.
it is not because of heat, i used mine for 2 years, during the summer (40c) with heavy use, and i have no pink line. it's just a manufacturing defect.
I picked up a used s7 edge with a cracked back glass. It is now showing this pink line issue. I started to notice it after it had been in my front pocket. I know it did not get hot in there ( sure would have noticed it there ), but it was definitely put under pressure when I would sit. Most of the time the line would go away by turning the screen on and off a few times and would stay gone until I carried it in my pocket again. The other day it came up and would not go away. I finally downloaded LCD-Test and swiped through the RGB screens a couple times and it went away and hasn't returned. On doing some experimentation I found that by pressing near the front camera I could create the issue but it would go away when removing the pressure. Confirming that it is indeed a physical issue that seems to latch on if pressure is applied for enough time. I have a new back glass coming and am wondering if the heat I will apply in removing the glass will help with this issue. " Will post result when completed " I am also looking in to a case that will take the stress off the top corner of the phone when it is in my pocket. Any Ideas ?
Pink Line Issue
Hi everyone, I have a question about pink like issue on S7 edge.
I've been living with the pink line since early this year, recently the line is getting too thick I couldn't bear with it anymore, so I decided to get it changed.
The question is, I've read threads that says the pink line appears are because of design flaw. So if I replaced the screen (which costs a bomb) will that appear again after a year of use?
Side note, my pink link appears about a year after I bought this.
Any owner who suffer also from pink line issue, are you still facing same issue after screen is replaced?
Thanks for your time.
Carlos
Here's a new observance of the pink line issue. After a day with no problems hanging around the house. Yesterday morning I went out into below freezing temps. Pink line came up almost immediately. ( Something in top of phone changing due to temp ? ) Upon getting home got it to reset and left it inside the rest of yesterday and all of today. ( No pink line ) interesting.

Once again today, have stayed inside and no pink line.
1. Try the flashing colour solutions
2. Try some pressure at Samsung logo
3. Try to get warranty fix by Samsung if your phone isn't damaged
4. Here is a video on how I permanently fixed mine :good:
youtube.com/watch?v=dacCTRU6snY
Thank you man, I replaced the screen and after a fex months the line appeared, it dissapeared whan I pressed or lifted the screen a bit so, for me, was easy to lift it a it than heating and glueing because that part off the screen didnt have glue.
Tnx for your post I fixed the line.
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8+ Rogers, on June 8th.
I have had no problem on using my phone after all.
I did some facebook and texting on my bed and left my phone on table located right next to my bed right before sleep.
When i woke up today (June 17th. 2017), I found that my phone has been all bented, and screen has been shattered. but funny thing is the tempered screen protector has been safe but only phone itself has been all messed up. Phone smells like a smoke slightly as well. I turned off my phone right after.
I do not know how to upload pics here, so i uploaded all to my Google drive. Check it out. and share it.

Maybe your girlfriend got mad about something? ??
Jokes aside, try giving it back from where you bought it and explain them (even if the whole story sounds weird)
Tbh, it seems extremely weird (at least for me) that this damage was done by the phone itself
Looks damaged more than exploded
Specifically it wasn't charging.

I think for the phone to do that to itself it would need to exploded... That's just weird.
Definitely seems like it was caused by a physical force outside of the phone, it's not possible for a phone to bend like that by itself under any circumstances. Even the battery exploding would not cause a bend like that, maybe being ran over by a car would? Remember that the S8 is built like a tank, not a single person that I've ever seen attempting a bend test has been able to cause any sort of bend to the frame, let alone bending the phone enough to break the screen.
The smell of smoke is completely understandable in an extreme bend like that, because the bend can damage the battery and cause short circuits inside the phone. I doubt that you can get a refund, because there's no way that damage like that could be caused without an external force being applied to the phone. The only logical conclusions that I can think of are you bending the phone in your sleep (not probable, since you need tools to bend it like that), or someone else bending it. It could maybe be possible to cause damage like that by bending the phone against a table, but it's not possible by using only your hands. You should probably investigate more on who could have done it, very strange
I am not a black consumer or trying to rip samsung off. I have been an loyal consumer of samsung. I have used every Galaxy s series phone so far and had no problem with my s series. Yeah it looks like a car went over, but i did not any car driving around in my room last night. Plus the tempered screen protector on the screen has been no damaged at all.

Tempered screen protectors can bend a lot more than the display without breaking
I'm sorry to say this, and I am NOT questioning your honesty.
But when batteries fail and expand, they release tremendous amounts of heat that would discolor the AMOLED panel and most definitely explode from the force of having to bend the phone and crack it like that.
Both the back and front panels on the S8 are structural and need a tremendous amount of force and heat to part.
External force bent the phone and cracked it. Who did it, why and when is up to you to find out.

No arguing with, I am just very disappointed with what happened to my phone over night. what i've known so far, is that most of tempered glass screen protectors are fragile.

what does being a black consumer have to do with your issue? nevermind, i get it...
1st either you are very tired or drunk and already bend it without your conscious before you put on desk.
2nd your girlfriend is mad with you and purposely bend it and off course she won't admit it.
3rd your staying place had some very anger evil ghost spirit.
Lastly sorry to said I don't think you will get any replacement nor-matter what kind of story you tell, unless they is a video recording proof the phone did it itself.
Hey guys so I bought my z fold 2 about a month ago on ebay. I got a pretty good deal on a Verizon variant because they unlock after 60 days. Well today I was playing with my phone and I realized that mine doesn't open up completely flat. There's a slight angle to it. I'm too scared to try trying to give it a little force to open all the way because I dont want to break something. I guess I can take it in to get repaired but it doesn't really affect it functionally. It just messes with my ocd bad that it's not completely flat when opened. It's just a slight angle you wouldnt even notice it unless you looked for it but I know it does indeed not open all the way because my mother in law and father in law both have the z fold 2 and theirs opens flat unlike mine.
Also I've had the most expensive spigen case on it since day 1 and I've been extremely careful to keep it clean and free of dirt and stuff so I'm not sure exactly what it is going on. My main concern is since I bought it on ebay I won't be able to use the warranty to get it fixed right? Or will I be able to. And if anyone has any ideas maybe I can fix it I'm open to suggestions. Thanks guys.

The angle you are mentioning is from the inside or outside after unfolding?
Mine is flat from the inside but when u put it on a desk both sides will not touch the table.
My screen isn't flat. It has a slight angle to it. Like say if the left half is flat. The right half curves upwards just slightly. Like I said it doesnt affect it functionaly but it kills my ocd knowing it should be straight.
So I was messing with my phone right now and I go to unfold it and it like snapped open completely. There's no angle anymore. It's flat. Idk what happened or what was wrong with it or what fixed it or if the problem will come back but I thought I'd let you guys know.

It doesn't do it anymore but yes when it was doing it even without the case it would not open all the way
Did you ever resolve this? I've had the same issue with my fold 3. I believe it opened 180 degrees when I first got it a fee weeks ago. Then I noticed one day that it only opens to about 175 now. Everything works, but it is annoying
I'm getting the same issue not sure what it is but I have a theory. I just came from outside where it is cold(Winter) then when I come into my home to unfold my zfold2, It wouldn't open all the way. By any chance was it winter in your area when this occurred?
Gotta replace your whole folding screen
Hi there! A guy on Reddit said that he managed to fix it using his vacuum cleaner. He kept on vacuuming the hinge several times a day for a week, and he finally managed to make it open 180ยบ flat again. My wife has this same issue. I'm gonna try this.
Anyway, I feel like this foldable smartphones are still in "beta". There are too many issues with the screen (bubbles, vivid pixels, strange lines, dust inside the hinge mechanism...). And Samsung's service is absolutely poor. Would never recommend the Z Flip, even though it's a fast phone with nice cameras.
Fold the phone, then carefully slide a piece of a sticky note in the gap between the hinge and the front/rear Cover an move slowly towards the top of the phone. You may have to repeat this process several times until all dust, hair and other unwanted stuff comes out. Tested working on Z Fold2, where it is slightly easier due to the bigger gap and the Fold3. Both phones fully unfold again.
I keep doing this once in a while to keep the phones in this condition
i have the same issue as well, if you google it ... it seems to be quite a common issue .. I tried to use those can air blowers .. which didn't really help and my inner screen starts flicking after a few days
Sent the phone back to samsung and requested for them to clean the hinge, but was told I need to replace the entire hinge for about 550 USD.

I should have left mine alone cuz I made it worse paper is too weak and tears inside so I guess I made an expensive paperweight.
