Hello.
I have been using this device for almost a year now. I have experienced four times now that my fingerprint sensor doesn't work. I'll just find out it is not working anymore. and then after some time it works again. what maybe the cause of this issue? It's a bit of a big deal for me. I haven't rooted my phone. I didn't study yet the fantastic effects of rooting. Maybe one of these days.
Thanks a lot.

Just got my Pixel 3 the other day and have started to put it to regular use, I'm coming from a Pixel OG that only missed swipes if my finger was damp or such. At first I thought it was due to my case but even without it on the swipe gesture on the fingerprint sensor is more miss than hit. I'm not talking about unlocking which happens every time, but trying to pull down notifications or quick settings with a swipe on the fingerprint sensor (yes it's enabled).
Anyone else with this issue or do I possibly have a finicky sensor?
Thanks
I've had some issues with mine but not a ton, yet. It works fine for unlocking as you said but sometimes swiping down doesn't do anything and I have to swipe a few times or just pull the shade with the screen. I believe I saw a post here or on reddit about it a few weeks ago. Not sure if it's something that can be addressed via software fixes or not.
That's not encouraging to hear, that's a feature I use all the time. And on my pixel OG it worked flawlessly so this is definitely not usual performance.

It's not "usual" and likely not working as intended but it's not a problem specific to your device. Assuming it's something they can adjust with software it should be fixed in an update vs an RMA for your specific phone. That's kind of what I was getting at with my reply.
Yes I understood it as it being a problem on more than mine but made me think it could be a hardware issue. Hopefully that's something that can be addressed with software.

only time i had the issue was with a case on. other than that.. its been perfect
I've noticed similar behavior on mine. If I slow my finger down a bit it's typically 100%. But if my finger moves too fast, it doesn't always work.
works 1 out of 3 times for me. I'm using a skin, no case. Anyways, i would only use the feature in "one-hand-mode", and it's a big stretch for my finger the way that i carry the phone...
I have tried reinstalling the os, root and unroot. Before the newest update I could get into the debug menu, *#808#, there I could see that the accelerometer is giving faulty data. After the update I can't even get into that menu again.
Seems to be a faulty sensor and something with the software. My facking phone is 2 days old........
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?
Yeah autorotate sucks for me. Anytime I'm on YouTube and try to watch in landscape it's hit amd miss and i have to keep moving phone to get it to work

Damn. Sounds bad too.
I noticed this while playing Asphalt8 using the accelerometer to steer. It would work for a bit then get stuck trying to drive me into the side of the road!!!
Thinking it may be a bug in the game, I looked at the raw sensor data using Physics Toolbox Suite and saw the same thing. The sensor outputs sensible data for several seconds, maybe even a couple of minutes. Then the values stop changing for about 12 seconds. The length of time the sensor works for is random but the 'dead time' is always about 12 seconds!
Has anyone found a solution to this? Even a hint as to whether it's a software or hardware problem so I can decide if I should send the phone back or wait for an update.
Thanks
Okay thank God someone else has the same issue. I was wondering what was so wrong for the longest time ?
Extremely annoying issue.
It's a software issue. Confirmed.
When I reboot the phone the issue dissapears. Meaning there is something wrong in the OS that tilts the gyroscope readings. At least there is a workaround... Hope OP fixes it soon
I used an OnePlus 5 for 2 years. Now I bought a 7 Pro. I'm wondering doing a downgrade due to this issue. Incredible how a company like oneplus and a premium phone has a software bug like this and there's still no update yet. Months without an update...
The fingerprint sensor also has a bug... Sometimes it simply doesn't work. The touch stops...
OnePlus! Where are you?
I got a newish Note 10 plus, so I add my fingerprint and it works very well, first try, almost everytime, works wonderfully.... when i first add it... Slowly over the courses or 2-5 days it starts having a harder time recognizing it, untill it finally just wont recognized it at ALL. No screenportector and no other issues. What could be causing this what could I do to try and fix it?(Getting a new finger is not a possibility, I already looked into it)

Were you able to get it working properly?
Btw. from my experience, there are people who are not able to use fingerprint scanners. Unfortunately. For instance - my mother got an Ipad some years ago. Fingerprint worked for 1-2 days, then it stopped. She was not able to unlock with her finger anymore. New scanned fingerprint worked again fine for 1-2 days... Now she has Dell laptop with fingerprint scanner. Same issue. I tried to scan her finger on my Note 10. Same issue, it worked only for a few days..
Hello,
The FP reader was working great for me until today after I installed the update. Now it fails more than half time, where before it was almost flawless. Anyone else?
Mine is unchanged. Finicky unless I breath on or moisten my thumb. If I do that the FPS is flawless, perfect first time every time.
Perhaps deleting the old fingerprints and redoing them will fix it.
anybody got this problem? Fingerprint scanner in my xperia 5 III started asking me to clean it so many times and then just stopped working. I think somethings is wrong because when i am touthing it is buzzing but do not recodnising my fingerprint. Tryed to reset phone but still the same resolts. Sometimes its working but most of the time is not.
Help anybody?
someone just reset his fingerprints and this helped but i also red poeple faced same problems like u.
sad to say but souds like a hardware problem at your phone maybe.
what Android version are u.??!!!
12 and i am pretty sure its a hardwere cos i have don already evrything i could to fix it, and i am sending it back to tech support
One other thread had a suggestion of recording one fingerprint twice.
My fingerprint scanner stopped working at all recently... I think it worked worse after android 13 upgrade, but honestly I believe that it's a hardware problem... Is there a chance Sony will move to scanners like in Samsung and iPhone, that appears on the phone screen?
