Using a difference charger - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Can anyone confirm that it would be okay to use the htc 10 charger with this phone? Obviously just the brick part not the cable.

Why wouldn't it?

If the plug fits and the charger will suplly 12 volts dc at 1.5 amps or better you are golden.
I was having the issue some folks saw with the charger not always being recognized and needing to unplug the wall side of the charger for a second to get it to charge. I just stopped using that charger ans scavenged tthe plug from it to use with a variable power suplly I have on my et work bench.

[Q] Charger goes on and off repeatedly

Anyone have an issue where the charger is going on and off while plugged in?
I've noticed it with my car charger. HTC's charger is fine. I recently bought the touchstone and wanted to try it out. When I hook it up to the pogo pins, it started doing the same thing. The odd thing is that very rarely it will work correctly. I'm not sure what's causing the problem or how I can fix it, but I was just curious if anyone else had the issue.
EDIT: It happened on both stock and CleanROM/ElementalX. Not sure if it's a hardware problem or possibly the charger can't dish out enough juice. Seems like the touchstone is working for others though =S
Are you using the official charger?

Did you buy the touchstone charger for the international one x? or for the xl? I know the pogo pins line up differently on the 2 phones, not quite sure how touchstone works though.

Official car charger? No. The charger I got is the powerjolt dual which is supposed to be able to do 1A @ 5V so it seems like it *should* be able to give enough power to charge it. The charger that came with the phone is fine.

Oh the touchstone charger isn't even meant for any One X's. It's an inductive charger for the Palm Pre. I ripped out the internals so I can shove them inside the HOXL's casing and wireless charge my phone.

[Q] Is this actually an OEM Charger

Hello,
I bought this charger off ebay and the seller claims that it is a OEM samsung charger. When I try charging my tablet I get a red X over the battery and it takes forever to charge. I have read that this usually happens when not using the OEM charger. So I am wondering if this is in fact a OEM charger or if I have a different issue.
Yep thats a OEM charger for your tablet, mine does the X when charging some times but it does a full charge in about 2-3 hours.

Thanks for the reply. Mine does the X but it takes 6-8 hours to fully charge. Anything I can do to get it to charge faster?

Is the seller buzzz or something? I got two from them with the same problem. I think that it may work with their "OEM" cable, but not with real OEM ones. I compared the chargers they sent me to the one that came with a GT2, and they were slightly different. The writing is different in size, the removable plug stuck out a bit when I changed it from one to the other, and the top plastic plate (the area around the USB jack) was thicker on the one they sent me. But without the two next to each-other, not easy to tell the difference.
As someone else suggested, getting or making that adapter will probably take care of it. There are instructions on here for how to make that adapter, something about either cutting or shorting the center pins on a cable. That would make the cable not usable for data though. You could search for USB charging in the GT+ or GT2 forum.

Yes, the seller was bzzybees or something like that. They sent me two chargers and neither of them work. I plugged my brother OEM charger into my tablet and it charges like normal so I am guessing he isn't selling OEM chargers.

Yep, I guess the best thing would be to report it to ebay. I didn't because I had an extra cable so I just figured I'd make it work. Haven't worked on it yet though.
I changed the original line after charging much faster

Slow Charging?

whenever i try charging my phone through the OEM charger that i got with it,recently these days SOMETIMES i get a pop up saying something about Slow Charging...??
besides the charging doesn't start always dont know if my charger plug is loose or my cable is broken or my socket is bad or my phone port has been damaged?
any way to find out?
and does use of another charger, with a less amp output brick the phone?
i have heard stories about car chargers!
I agree. I'd suggest buying another HTC charger.

The factory charger shouldn't give you that warning. I suspect either the power "block" or the cable is defective and malfunctioning. Yes, its possible it could be the port on the phone. But trying a different charger is of course the easier factor to eliminate first.
Agree that another OEM HTC charger is the safest way to go. Technically, its been stated on here (by folks likely smarter than me) that the battery will only pull the amps that it needs, and using a higher amp charger will not have negative effects. And using one with lower amperage shouldn't damage it either. But even if this is true, things do not always function 100% as designed or as they are "supposed to". So using an official HTC charger is the safest thing to do, if you are nervous about it.
If the amp rating is the same (as it often is for most phone charges, although specs on tablet chargers are often different), I'd day using a different manufacturer micro-USB charger is probably okay (I do it all the time). But if you have to buy a new charger anyway, it might as well be an "official" HTC one.
I recently put a custom rom on my phone and i get that message when my phone hits a 100% never seen this message ever on my stock rom.

which ROM?

Phone charges only with certain charger

My phone didn't come with a charger so I had to buy one off ebay. The thing is my phone will only charge with said charger and no other, but will charge with any cable plugged into my laptop.
Is this by design or is there a weird issue with my phone? Anybody else had similar issues?
Thanks.
