[Q] Charger goes on and off repeatedly - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Anyone have an issue where the charger is going on and off while plugged in?
I've noticed it with my car charger. HTC's charger is fine. I recently bought the touchstone and wanted to try it out. When I hook it up to the pogo pins, it started doing the same thing. The odd thing is that very rarely it will work correctly. I'm not sure what's causing the problem or how I can fix it, but I was just curious if anyone else had the issue.
EDIT: It happened on both stock and CleanROM/ElementalX. Not sure if it's a hardware problem or possibly the charger can't dish out enough juice. Seems like the touchstone is working for others though =S

Are you using the official charger?

Did you buy the touchstone charger for the international one x? or for the xl? I know the pogo pins line up differently on the 2 phones, not quite sure how touchstone works though.

Official car charger? No. The charger I got is the powerjolt dual which is supposed to be able to do 1A @ 5V so it seems like it *should* be able to give enough power to charge it. The charger that came with the phone is fine.

Oh the touchstone charger isn't even meant for any One X's. It's an inductive charger for the Palm Pre. I ripped out the internals so I can shove them inside the HOXL's casing and wireless charge my phone.

Charger Question

Hello everyone,
I can't find my wall charger. I had to charge my phone so I used a wall charger for my tablet. The charger's output is 5v-2amp. The oem charger's output is 5v-1amp.
My question is will my temporary charger have any negative effects on my phone since it charges 1amp higher than the oem charger?
It shouldn't. My friend used his iPad charger for his iPhone long term. It didn't have any negative effects on it.
Edit: all it did was make it charge faster. An it did have a different voltage and amperage output than his iPhone charger..

Depending on the internal circuit of HOX, it may or may not harm your phone. iDevices are pretty good at operating with other iDevice accessory and may have circuits built to prevent damage. Check if it gets very hot - if true, don't use it.

USB is a universal plug designed for up to 2 amp at 5v... Typically the phone (or device) will only draw as much as it's a capable of handling... But I concur with the above post, if you think is getting to hot just charging, probably stop...

I agree about the charging faster and this reminded me of an article that I had read recently. Check this out:

I use my touch pad charger to charge my one x. It charges a lot faster. No negative effects.

Amazon Kindle chargers work as well as OE HTC chargers, and the cable is longer. I bought a couple of the $.01 chargers from Amazon for my Inspire 4G, and while they worked, the official HTC ones charged faster. When I got the HOX, the cheap chargers would charge for a bit, but then stop. So I picked up an extra Kindle charger and it works great!

+1, also use my kindle charger for my HOX, much longer than the stock HTC cable and charges just as fast.
I charge my Kindle with my HTC One X charger and I charge my HTC One X with my Kindle charger.
My car dock is attached to a 2.1A charger, no extra heat and no other obvious negative affects.

Skyrocket support for Powermat?

i was wondering if anyone has modded they're phone to use the power mat or if they developed the case for it yet? i looked around and found nothings
I had mine working with a Palm Pre Touchstone but one of my soldered wires broke and I haven't bothered to fix it. I think I will though, it's so convenient, and I have 6 touchstones... The only downside is that it charges slowly.

i was thinking of grabbing that touchstone cover and pad but i was wondering if the cover still works for my powermat. and did you use the s2 tutorial on the tmobile s2 forums? and how slow is the charge?
I don't know if it will or will not work with the Powermat, I haven't tried it myself. As for how slow, I don't have exact numbers, it was more of a gut feeling.

So I fixed my Touchstone back and tested it out. If I use a 1A charger direct to the phone I get around 890-900 mAh charging rate, with the Touchstone I get around 485-490 mAh, so it's pretty much half as fast as without it. Overnight that shouldn't make a difference, depends on your usage pattern.

I did something similar for my nexus 4 and want to to my wife's Skyrocket.
Did you buy that usb nub? or do you make it? I made mine, but as pictured it sticks out the bottom some (not my favorite)
https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/...s/5879541927394065665?authkey=CNuurqiC6aaWjQE
I made it. I took a micro-usb cable, cut off the cable, removed the plastic coating, shortened it a bit, soldered on some wire, and then re-shaped it with Sugru (moldable silicone putty). I haven't used it in awhile though, one of the wires broke off the charging circuit and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

Need case or charger that works with pogo pins

So my spouse decided to put the wrong f'ing plug into her AT&T One X, not sure what she was thinking, but it destroyed the usb connection. My question is, are there any Pogo Pin charging options? Or cases that work via Pogo Pins that also allow me to charge the phone thru them?
Your help is VERY much appreciated!!!!!!!!!
How about a warranty exchange?
This is one option, if you're handy enough:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039020
I like this one, I think it was for the ONE X not our ONE XL.
I do not think you can find a dock that uses the pogo pins for our phone unfortunately.
You may be able to find a case that uses the pogo pins.
I searched and I can't find anything for our phone that uses the pogo pins other than the mugen $100 extended battery case
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27313234
That dock is indeed for the endeavoru one x.
The Touchstone charging mod from iElvis is cool but I don't think it will charge as quickly as you would want it to. If the phone is still under warranty just get it replaced.
You could use the Mugen battery case. It uses the pogo pings to charge the phone and then has a standard micro usb port to charge the case battery.

It charges just as fast as regular USB.
But if you want simple, the battery case is the way to go.
I'm pretty sure the one x and xl are exactly the same. It's not the international. Both phones are branded AT&T. They just have different names... I'm almost 100% sure

Nope sorry, they're comepletely different phones they just look similar, and the lte radios in the xl (at&t) make it taller. Enough so that hard cases and the official htc dock don't work with it

N4 LG charger and USB cable

I need an extra USB cable for charging my N4 in my car because I use a Scosche dual USB charger 2.1 amp. Will any USB cable be fine like the one in the link below or should I be looking for anything specific? I don't want something to mess up my N4 battery.

I was wondering the same thing. I'd like to get a couple extra USB wall chargers and micro USB cables to go with them. I'd like it to be as efficient and safe as possible for my Nexus 4 as well as friends that may need a charger. (N4 taking priority here)

Well as long as the power supplied is 5V (the usb standard) and under 1.2 amp (the output of the factory wall adaptor) you should be safe not burning out your phone. If you are just asking about a usb to micro usb cable then it shouldn't matter since the cable should supply the right voltage anyways.

The phone will only take the amps that it needs. I would get a 2A+ charger to be on the safe side.

Actually used it for my Nexus 7 and when I got my Nexus 4 I always used it for that. Never even bothered opening up my stock charger or cable. Dual port is nice if you want to charge 2 devices at 1 amp each without having a bunch of chargers plugged in.

Woah! Thanks man! I've been looking everywhere for this! Haha
I love the OEM USB Cable, especially cause it fits with all of my cases.
I would love to get the OEM charger, but after my current one acting up (usb wire for some reason keeps making it say usb charging despite being plugged into wall outlet), I'm cautious.

This is one of the reasons I bought the oem charger. Had the ac/usb issue. Changed wires and still does that. Used my gnex charger and it didn't give me problems. So I said it must be the charger itself. Bought the new one and now I'm confident when plugging my phone in. No more issues on the ac/usb charging thing

Hmm... for me, I changed the wires and it works. I think I would rather just save the $10 and put it towards the "wheneveritisreleased" Wireless Charging Orb.....or the TYLT VU when it comes out in April.
Hi guys, I have a few micro USB chargers lying around. Just wondering if using these would harm my N4:
12 V, 500mA
5 V, 2.1 A
5 V, 1.9 A
5 V, 1 A
The 12 V 500mA charger makes my phone's screen go haywire (applications opening and closing by themselves) but it does charge the phone.

at least you narrowed it down fast to the wire. in my case after swapping just the wires it was still the same. then when i used the original n4 charger on my gnex, my gnex suddenly had the ac/usb charging issue. my problem with not getting another charger was i sometimes charge both phones at the same time so i needed one more. good thing a couple of searches led me to the buychina site and now all works well.
I am very interested in this topic as I believe I'm going to need a new USB > MicroUSB cable. My cat accidentally knocked off my N4 while it was charging using the original cable/charger. While it seems the charger itself is okay, the cable is what I am worried about. The end seems slightly bent and, while it will plug into the N4 (which will report charging) it doesn't go as "easily". From visual inspection I think the problem is with the cable's microUSB end; I really hope that the N4's socket itself is not bent/damaged in anyway, but I cannot see any visual signs thereof.
I was really hoping to pick up another OEM charging kit, but it appears that (assuming they are legit ) that one can only find them on Taobao/ChinaBuy as linked above? I was hoping Amazon would have them. With this in mind, will there be anything specific to look for finding another "USB to MicroUSB cable" from Amazon to use with the existing, undamaged OEM charger? Thanks.
I'm no expert but I believe there shouldn't be any issue of you get a different cable. I've used an HTC, Samsung and Asus calls with the LG charger and there aren't any issues. If it's just the cable you need, go with Amazon. It'll be faster

Great, thanks. It seems logical that all "USB A > MicroUSB B" cables should be capable of the same thing, but I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something that would say, impair my ability to use this cable for not only charging with the OEM wall charger, but charging from my PC's USB ports, connecting to said PC via USB Debugging for rooting/flashing etc...

DUDE!!!! The 12V charger can KILL your phone.. The phone is designed for 5volts..
As long as the charger supplies 5 volts it is okay... even a 10 amp charger will work fine (if availiable ).. The current is controlled by the device (nexus 4 in this case).. It will draw how much current it requires.. Voltage on the other hand is decided by the charger.... 12volts will fry the device...

dual android car charger

Anyone recommend a dual usb/Android car charger. Preferably a 2 amp if it exists. The wife and I both have galaxy's an S3 and an S4 and it would be great if we could both charge of the same car charger. If one does not exist I suppose I could use 2 separate 2 amp ones since we have dual charger ports in the van one battery and one engine
Thanks
Monoprice has a dual port 4.2a charger on sale right now for under 10 bucks.
Lots of 3.1 amp dual chargers on eBay for like 5$. They are usually 2.1 amp on one port and 1 amp on the other port. But 4.2 amp dual charger for 10 isn't a bad deal to be honest.

I think the reason they mark one as Ipad is because the ipad requires a min of 2.1a to charge. Smartphones require less. But I don't think the usb port connector is any different. I am pretty sure you could still charge any other device through the port marked as ipad as well. I'm headed out of town for the weekend but I can try charging my other phone through the 2.1a port and let you know

It works great, it's 2.1a so iPads and some other tablets can also charge on it, and it's very small (it sticks out even less than the original cigar lighter )
It charges quite fast as well.
