Charger Question - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello everyone,
I can't find my wall charger. I had to charge my phone so I used a wall charger for my tablet. The charger's output is 5v-2amp. The oem charger's output is 5v-1amp.
My question is will my temporary charger have any negative effects on my phone since it charges 1amp higher than the oem charger?

It shouldn't. My friend used his iPad charger for his iPhone long term. It didn't have any negative effects on it.
Edit: all it did was make it charge faster. An it did have a different voltage and amperage output than his iPhone charger..

Depending on the internal circuit of HOX, it may or may not harm your phone. iDevices are pretty good at operating with other iDevice accessory and may have circuits built to prevent damage. Check if it gets very hot - if true, don't use it.

USB is a universal plug designed for up to 2 amp at 5v... Typically the phone (or device) will only draw as much as it's a capable of handling... But I concur with the above post, if you think is getting to hot just charging, probably stop...

I agree about the charging faster and this reminded me of an article that I had read recently. Check this out:

I use my touch pad charger to charge my one x. It charges a lot faster. No negative effects.

Amazon Kindle chargers work as well as OE HTC chargers, and the cable is longer. I bought a couple of the $.01 chargers from Amazon for my Inspire 4G, and while they worked, the official HTC ones charged faster. When I got the HOX, the cheap chargers would charge for a bit, but then stop. So I picked up an extra Kindle charger and it works great!

+1, also use my kindle charger for my HOX, much longer than the stock HTC cable and charges just as fast.

I charge my Kindle with my HTC One X charger and I charge my HTC One X with my Kindle charger.

My car dock is attached to a 2.1A charger, no extra heat and no other obvious negative affects.

2 in 1 charger usb cable ?

Im looking for and bought on ebay is one of those square ac/usb extra battery chargers along with a true samsung droid charge cable like what I got with the oem phone. Eveything I am finding is either generic or a samsung cable that is generic or from a different samsung phone. The one that actually came in the box with my phone seems to fit the best over all that I have tried or bought.
Micro USB only come in one size. Each one will prob have different voltage or what not but should fit the same as your stock cord.

Partly true-all microUSB comes in the same size. However, all USB operates at 5V, so there is no voltage difference. Amperage may vary from charger to charger though. A normal USB port is designed to run at 500 mA. The stock charger can provide up to 1A, but the kernel regulates it. I have an LG cable for charging in my car, and my OEM cable roams around my house.
So, are you looking for a battery charger or a phone charger?

Not looking for the batteries as I just use the charger. Ended up buying one and the battery will sit around as I have enough. I did also buy some samsung usb cables but again none look or connect as well as the one that came with the phone for some reason. They work so thats what counts.

[Q] 2 Amp Charger?

Has anyone tried a 2A charger with the One X? Will it actually pull more than one amp?
I have an hp touchpad charger that I use from time to time. I don't notice a big difference in charge time over the stock charger. Is there a way I could test this?

I use my iPad 3 charger and don't notice any significantly faster charge times.
The phone will only accept a 1A charge period.

Nexus 5 draining in the car

I bought a dual usb car charger from eBay that is supposed to output 5v 2A on one socket and 5v 1a on the other, but while leaving it like that in my car it still drains the nexus 5. Tried to only have the nexus 5 connected to the 2A socket aswell but still discharges over time.
What can be the issue here?

Probably either a bad USB cable(s) or chargers that are not putting out the amperage as advertised. There are a couple posts you can find in the accessories forum that show the effect of low vs high quality USB cables. Summary: there is a big difference.
I've personally been on the hunt for good cables and charges for a while and recently bought a car charger that charges while I listen to music and use Waze while driving. Very happy now, we'll I am, my wallet isn't.
Try current widget while hooked up to the charger. You can test how many amps you are drawing.

It may be like the post above, drawing USB charge. I think I read somewhere there is a mod to enable fast charge.

Tried some different cables in the truck now at lunch, the ones I used before got minus even while charging, these were cheap flat cables from China, tested with an Asus one i had laying around and that gave me ~700+ mah. So from -70mah to +700mah is quite the difference just by switching cables.

I just ordered this fast charger from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QEX83LA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
mind it doesn't come with a cable, but you could use the HTC stock one since it's of good quality.
If you want a long cable like me, I also ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MLP6HLS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've got this one http://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Unive...d=1427977501&sr=1-2&keywords=quick+charge+2.0
As long as it says Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 any of them should work.
Any UK ones recommended under £10??

Judging by the quoted spec of 5/9/12V it is the HTC TC P1000 charger, not the TC P900 as shipped in the box (of my EE unit)

can you take a picture of your charger of dose it say Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 on it ?
Anyone in the US (not sure about other regions) can waltz into a verizon store and pick up one of these:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/acce...er-with-fast-charge-technology-for-micro-usb/
Price isn't terrible at ~$35. I'm not on verizon and I don't like all the red, but who cares at the end of the day. Also, the USB cable it comes with has a light on the end. which is handier than I thought it would be. IE: stabbing your phone in the butt when trying to charge it in the dark. I do not regret getting this charger for a second.
I ordered this one. http://www.shopandroid.com/ventev-q...llport-micro-usb-wall-charger/5A255A20425.htm
should be here today.

Is there any way to tell if the phone is actually in quick charge 2.0 charging mode? I bought a car adapter that is certified but I'm curious how to know if it is actually working or not in that charging mode?

(If you can't catch it then it's a quick charge... lol!) Yes there is a way, if you plug in a slow charger you will get a pop up message telling you that you are using a slow charger. I charge my m9 from my PC as it has a built-in USB port for fast charging phones, which can even be used if the PC is powered off.
Will this charger charge the M9 faster? I don't know if it supports that Qualcomm fast charging 2.0 though?

I've had great results from the Choe brand QC chargers LINK. Used it with my M8 now using for my M9.
I got the Anker Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charger.
It works. Light glows green when my M9 is plugged in. Charges stupid fast.
Takes up one space on the power strip.

I've had pretty good luck in general with Anker stuff, but I've never used one of their quick chargers.

I bought that same charger. Would you be willing to download the free app called Ampere and see what it reports for current when you are using that charger? I am having a very weird issue where Ampere is only reporting about 250mA with that charger but if I use a different charger that is not Qualcomm certified I get upwords of 1500 milliamps. I'm wondering if Ampere is just not capable of handling the calculation on a phone with the Qualcomm Quick Charge technology or if there is something wrong with the charging of my phone.
I just bought these two, and it said I will have them by Sunday; it's Friday!
Two fast charge ports on the wall charger and 1 on the car charger, and the rest of the ports are 2.4 amp 5 volt.

Battery mod charging issue

Anyone run across this?
Both the Tumi and the Incipio battery mod will not charge unless plugged into the supplied charger, 30 w one that came with phone.
I'm aware QC 2.0 charges will not technically charge the Z Force at turbo speed but charges it faster than a standard charger.
So using a 2.0 charger it charges the phone fine but will not switch to charging the battery mods. This is using a usb c cable and a micro usb cable with a USB micro to usb c connector.
It just sits there saying g waiting to charge. But once I use the supplied charger it charges the moto mod battery.
Interesting...I wonder if it has anything to do with tripping the "turbo power" message...there are chargers out there (have to be usb-c to usb-c) that will turbo charge our phones...but not as fast as the OEM charger...I'd be curious to see if those work to charge the power packs
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
The funny thing is even when I use the supplied 30 watt charger that came with the phone it charges about 300 mah/rate. Heck my 2.0 chargers charge the phone at 1600 mah/rate. So I don't know. I know if it's not fixed soon I'll be returning the incipio wireless battery mod back to best buy in a couple days.

Yea I dont know. The guy didnt sound too convincing. They could also be just saying that. But he did readily admit it was a known issue.

Well spoke to Motorola customer tech support today. They advised the issue I'm having with th eastern mod, tumi and incipio, is a known issue.
They also advised the only way to charge the phone and have it then switch to charging the battery mod is to use the supplied charger. No other charger will work.
I can't believe they would not think of this issue coming up. Very disappointed.

Moto tech support was way wrong. I went to local Verizon store and tested out the Verizon usb c vehicle and house charger. Both turbo charge my phone and both then charge the battery mod.

So if it charges with the Verizon charger I wonder why my Platinum Quick Charge brick or car charger won't work... That's odd

Looks like your charger is QC 2.0. It probably only produces 10W (2A X 5V). The Moto Z charger produces 15W (3A X 5V). Your Z Force charger produces 28.5W (5.7 X 5V).
I think the min. W to TurboCharge is 15W.

I suppose that would make sense, though I hope the software update would add support to QC 2.0. I'd hate to rebuy all my fast chargers for the 3.0 capability. If anything I think they should require that the phone reach 100% and then the battery starts charging, if the 2.0 chargers cannot charge both simultaneously. I love Motorola phones but their support is in SERIOUS need of a reform.

It will never support QC. QC is incompatible with it. Phones that have USB C and QC are out of spec. Have a look at this thread for more info on it.

Wireless chargers do the trick.
I had the same issue but had a qi wireless charger in the drawer here at work. Set it on top and it's now charging the Incipio battery mod, so it's all good. Irritating that a Samsung OEM usb-c charger from my S8 won't charge the mod though.

You can't (uninstall mod manager), at least not on Oreo. Disabling and re-enabling doesn't change the behavior.
I had the issue mentioned here, my moto mod battery was not charging. I switched to the cable and plug that came with the phone and it started charging. Thanks to the folks on here that mentioned it as a possible fix.
