[Q] Hidden Menu? - Verizon LG G5 Questions & Answers

Is it disabled on our variant?
I tried *#546368#*987# with no success. Apparently, it works on the AT&T variant (if you switch the 987 with the model number for the AT&T variant of course).
I did find two codes that work, looks like Verizon's Hidden Menus.
Here are the codes (press call, the service code for both is 000000):
##3328873
##7764726987
I also looked around with QuickShortcutMaker and ShortcutMaster Lite, nothing. Oh and activity launcher!
Any ideas?

My Verizon non. Of the code is working

Verizon has a bad history of disabling the menu but some Verizon models they offer a code to turn it on, along the lines of enabling hidden menu Verizon lg.
##3328873 then 000000 is one not much use
##228378 send
Quik shortcut maker brings up a load of stuff helpful but not the hidden menus

No service
My verizon g5 can't seem to connect to my mobile network. So frustrating and I can't find a fix

[Q] No Hidden WIFI in Mango RTM 7720!!

I have the LG-E900h on AT&T.
Got the 7720 build 2 days ago but when I go to Wi-Fi, Advanced, there is NO + button at the bottom, just Select and Delete.
Anyone else have this issue, or know a way to fix it??
Im using a HTC 7 and ive got the + all ok

just waiting for at&t to enable visual voice mail for my Samsung focus
HTC HD2 with zune updates and no hidden wifi options here too
FYI please turn on yr WiFi first... If WiFi is not turned on the plus button will not be seen..
Wi-Fi is on, I can see other networks that are broadcasting the SSID, but still no + sign under Advanced.
No "+" under Advanced on WiFi settings on my LG Quantum from AT&T either (using RTM Mango).
Maybe there's a registry setting somewhere to show the "+" icon.
Hi
I have a LG with mango a no hidden wifi.. On my other phone HD7 Hidden wifi is present
so LG did not enable Hidden wifi
Any way to enable the hidden wifi function?
According to AT&T
http://att.deviceanywhere.com/LGQuantum/tutorials/14501
The "+" sign should be there on the LG Quantum!?!?
I just checked, and I'm happy I have it, but what would I need it for?

[Q] trouble finding apn menu

I have 2 N5's, but under settings>more>mobile networks I dont have Access Point Names. All i've got is Data enabled/Data roaming/ Network mode/ system select/ and carrier settings. So now I would like to put my AT&T sim in and actually use LTE, but no APN menu. These are Sprint N5's not that that should change anything. Thx for any help.

I wish, just Update PRL, and Update Profile. so far I have not been able to find it anywhere
Now on my Samsung Galaxy Note LTE, it's easy to find lol.
by the way, just to help someone help me, I'm on kit kat build version: KRT16M. Baseband M8974a-1.0.25.0.17; Kernel: 3.4.0-g9eb14ba
On my Nexus 5, it's located under "Settings", then right under Data usage there is a "More..." tab.
That takes you to a new screen and under "Mobile networks" is the APN.
I'm on Telus, if that makes any difference.

I also think you have to have a sim card in place for the "APN" to be visible or active.

Yep, that's right where I'm used to seeing it. I'm guessing that Sprint has "hacked" the 4.4 OS and hidden the APN menu or something. I went into the store today and asked where it was and they didn't know (no shock there), but when they tried to update my tower settings they did a *#*#72786#*#* to reset the phone, and then did the *#*#8232#*#* and did some stuff that they wouldn't allow me to see.....
Anyone have an idea if the T-mobile N5's have been "molested"? IE APN menus and such are where they should be?
ok, after some more digging, it looks like the APN settings are all under the data menu using the *#*#3282#*#* to access it. It's all broken up instead of being in one list like in 4.3 and prior, but it looks like it's all there. now to find some apn settings for Sprint and AT&T to do some testing.

Its my understanding these are the same model phone. You might want to try just putting in your AT&T SIM if you haven't done that already. On my previous phone (Verizon Note 2), that changed carrier specific settings and loaded the APN automatically. You shouldn't have to do any dialer menu magic for GSM service. When I activated my Nexus 5 on AT&T we just stuck in the SIM and the AT&T rep configured stuff on his computer, nothing more needed to be done on my phone.
Yup, it worked without a hitch. Soon as I put in the AT&T sim the APN menu was right were it should be. Service was fast and clean. Putting the sprint sim back in proved problematic, but nothing a system restore couldn't fix. Thanks for all the help

Force LTE only

Does anyone of you know the secret code to dial in the dialer to access the network settings. I remember using it once in my old android device and theres is an option for LTE only. In the setting the option is LTE/WCDMA/GSM therefore I can not force LTE only
Dial *#2263# and then click band selection then LTE then LTE all when you want to change back just click band selection then automatic

No, it works without Root.
Go to the dialer and enter *#0011#.
Click on the menu icon on the top right and press Back.
Click on the menu icon on the top right again and press Key Input.
Type in Q and press okay
Then repeat step three, but enter 0000 this time. Wait until the Main Service Menu pops up (it can take up to 20 seconds).
Go to UE settings and Information -->Setting-->Protocol-->AS-->Frequency Lock-->LTE Cell Locking
Select the LTE band that you want your phone to lock into.

Doesn't anyone know how to force LTE then? Or just even how to switch between the options of LTE/GSM ect
I'm having the same issue with my international version of my S6 too, no possible way to force LTE only bands?
Same problem here. Only way for me is to to toggle WCDMA and Lte

2 ways to do this.
1. Root your phone and install Advance Signal Status in playstore. Once installed, open the app > go to Additional Info > Device Information > and look for Set Preferred Network Type dropdownlist. You can choose LTE from there.
2. You need Root + Xposed Framework. After installing Xposed, Download Intelli3g module and from there, you can toggle Fast And Slow Network Mode. Just be sure one of them is set to LTE only.

So Im going to bump this due to the fact i had ran into this problem exactly. I bought my s6 edge out right from the only store that would do that at the time which was wind mobile. wind your supposed to get 4g max is what the icon says but after using the Advance Signal Status apk with being rooted and all that showed to be working was 2g/3g everything else was n/a. **** you wind your a horrible company. Anyways after millions of dropped and echo filled calls that didnt drop or the turtle like so called high speed internet. i went to telus got a sim card and a plan and put in the sim card and i get a 3 g signal and the apk shows the same thing. i called tech support and this guy went above and beyond the usual script those idiots read over and over when they dont know what they actually do there. at the end of the call he says im sorry my coworker is saying if it was from wind you wont get lte on that phone with us. i had no way to choose lte through my phone settings and it was driving me crazy. so after a little research and a little playing around with the band selection by going *2263# first selection in the list. i tried going straight to lte only and it went over switched from 3g to 4g+ aka lte also verified by the advance signal status the only **** active was the lte section... so i thought yes i did it so i try a call and wtf immediately the phone would end the call every time and incoming went to voicmail every time. so i then started to try the different lte combos and to save someone time i ended up with the lte+cdma(prl) and after that it stayed with lte band and the phone calls work.
just because some tech support told you you cant run some sim cards on some phones unlocked or not because of frequency's of the carrier, but thats noy true and i proved that to my self today. have some patients and make sure you have a back up ready and waiting just in case at all times ive learned the hard way too many times saying this flash is a quickie im good lol nooope ...anyways i will also be getting a wind sim to work on the s4 wind says it cant be done but i say other wise i will post my findings on the appropriate pages.
i hope this helps some people

ATT 5.0.1 to 5.1.1PR LTE connection issues

Hey everyone. I managed to go from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1PR but now I'm running in to an issue where I cannot send/receive data (play store, email, maps, etc). I can, however, send text and make calls. I went through the hidden menu setup with no luck. I've already tried the following: Restart (obviously), Factory reset, Reinstalling 5.1.1, APN settings. All no luck. Has anyone had a similar issue or does anyone have an idea of how I can fix this? Thanks!
I'm in the same boat and have done the same. I should of rooted and just removed what bloat I could. Which carrier are you using? Also, did you unlock your phone before going to 5.1.1PR? I didn't unlock my phone using the unlock code so I wonder if that could be causing an issue?
Funny. I'm having the exact opposite. I have LTE data, but cannot call or receive calls. I bought the phone stuck at AT&T logo thinking there was an att tot file. Instead used 950 5.1.1 PR.

I can replicate your situation by using LTE Band 4. When i try to make a call it immediately ends.
If you try Band 17 do you still have the same trouble? Did you try playing around with the LTE Bands and LTE-CA config?

If you have also rooted your phone, you can try getting rid of 80% of the Claro settings and brandings (boot animation etc...) deleting (or moving safer-moving) the /cust/CLR_PR folder and all of its contents. I moved the entire folder to my downloads folder and rebooted. First reboot I didn't get any boot animation, instead I got a dialog box with the good old android is working spinner, but subsequent reboots are now using the stock LG boot animation and configs. GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto is also now available from the standard network operator menu...
One thing I will point out is that I am NOT SURE if I am actually getting LTE speeds, I only see the 4G icon, not the LTE icon in the status bar. About Phone -> Network is showing LTE though.
Good luck, if you try this and blow something up, please don't blame me - but hey at this point what do you have to lose?
Why can't we just flash back to AT$T 5.1?
I tried band 4 and then I lose my signal altogether.
I checked speed and download was in the high 30s upload only around 3 or 4.

Well....I figured it out..at least what my issue was. Sort of feel like an idiot...lol. Even though the network auto detection found Cricket I went into the APN settings and plugged in the data below. It immediately displayed HSPA+ in the top right corner where the signal is. I confirmed it got me online so then I dialed the 277634#*# to set the LTE using the settings from the initial post. It should be LTE because the HSPA+ would be half the download speed. Looks like my typical results on the LTE Moto G. This may not help the user who can't make calls but has data. Hopefully it helps others.

Awesome, glad its working... I started comparing the XML configs between CLR_PR and the original files in /system/etc, /system/media, etc.. but soon i gave up, just too much to go through, so I deleted the entire directory after i realized that if an overriding config was not found in the cust folder android would happily look in the original location and just use whatever defaults it had.

Sure, I used ex file explorer, enabled root explorer, navigated to "/cust" and then deleted the folder. That should be it, i don't think there is any type of persistent backup of the contents there.
Wow, for me after I flashed the 5.1.1 PR I got the 2G/3G/LTE option right away, and it was set at 2G/3G/LTE already. Also LTE worked just fine from the beginning, didn't even have to enter hidden menu. We use band 4 here, maybe the phone is already set for that band? But the LTE option appearing right away is weird I guess.
Now I don't know if I should root it to remove the Claro branding (especially the boot animation, hate that one)...

Many parts of the world use 4G to represent LTE and H/H+ to mean 3G data. In the US, we get 4G for H/H+ and LTE because of carrier marketing. Since you removed the custom Claro profile, the phone is now showing the default symbol for LTE as "4G".

Telstra Xperia Z3 not working with iiNet Data

My friend received an Xperia Z3 from Telstra as part of his plan and I got an iPhone 6 as part of my iiNet one. I hated the iPhone 6 and he hated the Xperia, so we swapped after looking up online that they are both unlocked out of the box. Everything seems fine except that my mobile data doesn't work, in the upper left corner it shows iiNet (the right carrier) but I cannot seem to get my mobile data to work. Is this a problem with the unit itself or with the fact that we swapped phones?
You'll need to configure your APN settings since Telstra phones only come with their settings.
Visit iiNet's website for their APN settings then head to Settings -> Mobile Network -> APN and add them there. Save then enable.

Their website doesn't actually have it as far as I can tell, have sourced it for you here.

Thanks for your fast reply. I have entered the internet and mms an settings as two separate entries into my apn settings and restarted my device but if I turn off WiFi and mobile data on, chrome still tells me I am offline if I try to load a website. Do you know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for helping a technology newb like me out, I really appreciate it

Hmm that's weird. Had the same problem on Reddit where a Canadian couldn't get their M7 to work with iiNet mobile data but their calls and texts were fine. Are you absolutely sure that the internet one is selected in Mobile Data settings?

Yeah it is... For the apn type for the inter net one, do I type "default or internet"? Or just one of them?
I got it to work in the end but thanks for all your help
For anyone interested in how I did it, continue to read:
Firstly I went to Settings > More under Wireless and Networks > Internet Settings (note you need WiFi to do this) and then selected Optus because iiNet runs under Optus and then the APN settings were changed automatically and mobile data now works
Sent from my D6653 using XDA Free mobile app
Ahh yes, the Optus APN, slipped my mind.
FYI for anyone else, the Optus APN works with all MVNO's using the Optus network (Virgin Mobile, iiNet, Exetel etc.).
Glad it's all sorted out.
