Samsung Pay alternative and currently working sollution is finally here !!! :D - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi All,
For those who don't see the irony of this post its here because people keep discussion Samsung pay without knowing just how far away it is...
For those wondering and eagerly waiting for Samsung pay to become available in your area (don't hold your breath as it may be months or even years) I have found a much better alternative solution, with this method you can now root your device and enjoy a much better currently working alternative (Rooting will permanently disable Samsung Pay and trip KNOX) and at the same time your device will be protected against drops, damages and it's colour can now become easily changed
This amazing alternative solution will cost you less than $5 and has many different shapes and colours, all you need is a working PayPass enabled card and your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge and one of THESE for example If you search around you will find many more similar alternative solutions
seriously its that easy and it will work all over the world where Samsung Pay, Android Pay or Apple Pay doesn't currently work.

So you are suggesting to utilize rfid over much more secure nfc payments when rfid is already proven to be extremely unsafe?

RFID has a much longer range than NFC, making it more prone to "hacking". A guy hacking RFID can hide 5-10 meters behind you, while NFC requires the individual to basically touch your device. We can also disable the NFC in the settings of our phones in 2 seconds.
But is NFC generally safer than RFID? I have no idea, but they're probably just as unsafe.

You mean you can make your phone capable of payment by strapping a payment card to it?
Oh you're a genius why didn't I think of that!

wtf!!!
Your talking about using a contactless card?
Just to confirm, most banks provide card with Contacless enabled.
People enjoy using mobiles to pay via contactless as its easier to manage what you have spent using
(As it takes 3 days for the funds to reflect as well as update on your statement)
So your method is buying a case that fits your card inside.
Why the hell would you not just get a PayPass Sticker.....
Seems a better option IMO
But its not a alternative by any stretch
Your topic suggests there is another company you can use to replace samesung pay like Google wallet, or EE Contactless or whatever other forms there are

Hiphone Iphone clone

Has anyone on this forum got or seen anything about this Hiphone.
It's suppost to be the closest clone of an iphone yet and was wondering of you xda-devs have came across one in the flesh so to speak.....
http://www.live25.co.uk/content/say-hello-hiphone
Thanks
EWW thats ugly i dont liek it
Coders and developers needed!
NOW!For all you Hiphone Iclone users there is hope come visit and support us at http://hiphonepro.freeforums.org and spread the word so we can get the developers to listen.
This thing has so much potential!
I wonder if the developers here might help us find out the mysterys of this phone and crack it open for development the phone is excelent but the firmware is limited and undeveloped it has alot of potential to surpass the iphone with just about anything the developer wants to add
Hahaha this thing looks so stupid
It looks as if someone build a foamphone like those foamfingers people use in stadiums and what not.
Don't get it, I am sure it has lead in it.

The Americans have a big thing about lead used in products at the moment, im talking about trace amounts of lead that don't mean anything but they have blown it all out of proportion, so for example my nokia 6300 has a chromed 4 way navigation button, in the manual it says dont put it next to your skin for prolonged periods due to lead content.
it is basically scaremongering to get the US public to stop buying products imported from china
I know I was being facetious.
I am sure all phones have lead, especially on the boards and chips inside, it was a joke.

I may come across that way.
Although I have spent the majority of my life in the states, I have spent a significant amount of time in the UK.
I lived in Southampton for a job until I was made redundant the moved back and still travel there now on business.

Why would someone do anything with this phone, don't promote it, there's about as much potential in this phone as the one pictured above.

I am rich (software)

can some make this ridiculous SW (misspellings and all) for our devices, pleeaaaaase.
[sarcasm]i would love show-off this mockware to all the of those who aren't as rich as me.[/sarcasm]
eight people actually bought it? I guess that means we have eight CONFIRMED idiots on this planet.
wonder how many unconfirmed
i suspect it's mind boggling
LOL. I saw this on giz. I was ROFL'ing for like 5 minutes. And did you guys read about the dude who "accidentally" bought it? LOL
NO... We have more than 8 idiots. You have to include ALL THE APPLE STAFF who approved it in the first place. They probably only took it off when the 8 idiots complained and demanded their refund for the $1000 they spent.
This definitively looks like nice piece of software. I hope someone can develop such a useful and good looking application for our Windows Mobile devices. Otherwise, i might seriously reconsider buying an iPhone.
P.S.:
Congrats to developer of this original app. Nice way of earning few thousands $$ for few seconds of work. Way to go, good thinking!
And all this just proves that iPhone is just a toy for really rich people and true high-tech work of art only for idiots.
"I am rich" for Windows Mobile
Thanks to Julien we, WM users, finally have the chance to try this great app.
It looks like it's still in development. It's not fullscreen yet, but it's still free, so if you want to try this fine piece of software, now's the time.
Download here
YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! I just saw it here:
DL'd it and immediately ported it to my "iPhone"

i am, though, disappointed that the 'deserv' was spelled "correctly." argh, oh well. it's well worth the $2,000.00 i donated for this little gem.
Well, I guess it is still in development so it has some minor issues. I'm sure that fullscreen and misspelling will be added as soon as possible. But this is promising start and we will soon be as sophisticated as iPhone users. I also think that many iPhone users will migrate to WM devices since this app is no longer available in Apple's App Store, so we can expect at least few tousands new xda users in next few days.

Pretty run of the mill inside, but that's one hell of a chassis. what i'm amazed by is that toughbooks and toughbook slates have always been these horrifically huge things, but this actually has a decent thickness (hello toshiba thrive), isn't fugly, and manages to keep a 10 hour battery!
anyone here considering dropping $1300 on one? anyone?

You can run over a Toughbook with a Hummer or something like that and it will still work. If the Touchpad is anything like that, I can definately see the Touchpad selling well to those super paranoid types. I wouldn't drop $1300 for one, but I guess it is cool that Panasonic is making tablets.
Touchpad was 99$ /troll
However, it looks nice, but what about screen? Is it tough enough?
how is the user interface? never seen panasonic come out this technical

I am assuming they are using gorilla glass for the screen. Panasonic really needs to reveal the specs on this thing (besides the usual stuff obviously).

This.
Not for your everyday user. This would be invaluable in some business applications as well. Many restraunts have tabs implemented with their ordering systems, this would offer much more reliability. I've seen city employees with iPads mapping the sewer systems etc. Pretty exciting product for me

Apple-Samsung Court Case

Looks like our beloved Charge was mentioned as a witness in this case:
http://www.technobuffalo.com/companies/apple/apple-samsung-trial-verdict/
- rubber band patent
- 915 patent (scrolling with one finger)
- 163 patent (double tap to zoom and center content)
- iphone trade dress (Charge was not in violation of this)
what this could mean for the future for the Charge? who knows?
good side: perhaps a software update to the latest OS with valid patents
bad side: a software update reverting these violations
neutral: nothing....
Here's a interesting write up about some sketchiness among the jury and the decision. In this light, it seems almost certain that at appeal is coming, if not outright dismissals on at least some of the violations under a Rule 50(b). With this much alleged impropriety, they may even be able to get a stay on the decision.
I doubt Apple is overly concerned with a low sale volume device like the Charge in the grand scheme of things. I imagine that the most that might happen is stopping production.

sales ban
Cnet is reporting that Apple is requesting a ban on sales of the Charge (amongst other phones) in the US.
With appeals and other legal manuvering I have no idea whether this will really happen, but I wonder what it means for customers that have these phones... What would happen if you need a replacement from VZ?
It would be great if they just make them stock android devices with 4.1.1 like the nexus S...The resale value would double lol.
i would not be surprised to see VZW offer us a deep discount on upgrading to another device. probably something like $100 off the 2-year contract price of another device even if you have time left on your current contract. which is really nothing new, but it could easily persuade most out of the charge...
but whatever it is, I want dwith to let me know where he is going first, and I'll follow.... (just don't say iphone....)

tldr but I'd like to know a summary
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
First article is showing how the only device that the judge felt confident in granting a sales injunction for was one of the few devices that didn't get any judgement against it. Literally, the only device the judge thought was a slam dunk got off clean, and others that she considered to be weak cases got slammed by the jury, which when taken with the earlier reports of procedural errors and bias points further toward an incompetent or biased jury. The second article compares this case to previous attempts by Oracle, SCO, and Microsoft attempting (and failing) to shut down other FOSS projects due to fear, and speculates (with good reasoning) that this could very well be a test case for patent reform that makes it all the way to SCOTUS.
This is just getting worse and worse. The jury foreman in an interview said that he determined that prior art didn't apply because "The software on the Apple side could not be placed into the processor on the prior art and vice versa. That means they are not interchangeable. That changed everything right there." Great logic, except that interchangeability isn't part of the definition of prior art. I can just be words on a piece of paper with no actual implementation whatsoever and still be prior art, yet he managed to convince the rest of the jury using that logic. Keep in mind that this is the same guy who has a patent and admitted that was thinking of this case in terms of defending his own patent.
http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20120828225612963
Every time that guy opens his mouth, he strengthens Samsung's appeal and/or Rule 50(b) filing.

No more Samsung. Which manufacturers aren't as slimy as Samsung & Sony about rooting?
Hello all and welcome to my first thread, nice to be part of the community.
Now then I've Rooted my SG4 and flashed various ROMs and had lots of fun doing so.
Unfortunately for me, that device was stolen and I was given a new one.
Upon flashing that device I had realized this one had security I wasnt familiar with, KNOX.
(Not a post asking about the KNOX or Galaxy)
Anyhow upon further research of this unknown function, it is the devils bane to all Samsung rooters.
I find the creation of KNOX enough to encourage me to not purchase another Samsung device.
And now the plot unfolds
Id like a powerful phone that I can root with little consequence (Other than bricking or corrupting my phone)
While rooting voids warranties, at least it was possible to reset the counters in the past. (B.K)
The LG G2/3, Nexus 5 & HTC One seem to be the best devices fitting my criteria.
What phone would you choose for your rooting fun?
I have faith that someone will find a way to work around KNOX. I've been exploring different routes to getting root on my GS4 with 4.4.2. I never would have updated if I would have known. I guess I should have researched Kit Kat a little more.

Well I would stick it out with Samsung, but since it won't end with Knox, I'm jumping ship now.
I'm leaning a lot towards the g3 when it comes out. Same processor as the s5 but better everywhere else.
I just wonder if LG, or HTC have contingencies like Samsung does.
well thats all very sad. Samsung is turning into the new apple, and if LG lags on support, IDK about Sony phones never considered buying one.
That just leaves what HTC and Motorola

If you want something that will remain anti-root security free, and is both powerfull and affordable, as well as has massive official and custom developement support, the Nexus is the obvious choice.
