[Completed] [Q] Samsung Galaxt S5 (Sprint) Trouble rooting

I've never rooted a phone before and was curious to get CM11 on my Galaxy S5. Since the installer isn't compatible with the S5, I figured I'd try rooting it. When I first got the phone I tried it (back in April) and it didn't work so I forgot about it and didn't try again until the other day. I looked it up on youtube and followed the instructions to the letter not missing a thing. Like I said earlier, I don't know much about rooting so the first time I tried I could have easily messed it up. Anyways, I downloaded what the video said, went through it step-by-step not missing anything and when I went to boot it up after doing whatever I was doing in Odin, unlike the guy in the video whose phone loaded up the Samsung Loading screen that had no text on the top left, mine did. I waited for a minute before retrying, following it to the letter and it did it again, so I looked in the comments. Some others were having problems and said they had to get the original ROM and do it from that to get the phone to boot. I did that, phone booted fine and here I am without a rooted phone and with no CM11.
I'm asking what I did wrong/what's going on with my phone/why can't I root it/am I just an idiot?
Root the stock version, I believe Chainfire's auto root works for the S5 (verify that before flashing anything).
Once you're rooted, install a custom recovery (ie... CWM, TWRP, or Philz) then flash the CM11 ROM you want to run.

Try using a different usb port or cable, if that doesn't fix the issue find the drivers for your device (can probably be found here on XDA or on your manufacturers/carriers sites) uninstall the current drivers if installed and install the ones you just downloaded and try again.
A good way to see if your drivers are functional is trying to connect to ADB with your device.

Galaxy S5 g900A TRWP install failure

Every time I use Odin to install TWRP I get a failure.
<ID:0/004> recovery.img
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I did set USB Debugging ON.
Tried both Odin Options > Auto reboot ON and OFF.
I've tried different cables (no change),
different versions of Odin (Odin3_v3.10.7, Odin3 v3.11.1, odin3-v3.12.4_4),
3 different date versions of TWRP plus redownloads (twrp-klte.tar, twrp-3.3.1-0-klte.img.tar, twrp-3.6.0_9-0-klte.img.tar),
and a factory reset on the phone.
Other than this the phone seems top work fine. I did successfully do this a couple of years ago, but it doesn't work now.
The phone screen says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-900A
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: OFFICIAL
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 8x8
QUALCOMM SECURE BOOT: ENABLE (CSB)

SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery
SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery
SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery
SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery
I did try multiple times to install so S C FAIL x 4
Is something wrong with the phone?
What else can I do?
The TWRP site gives five different downloads for the S5 depending on the phone you have.
Always choose the right and latest one.
I found a wonderful description of the way you should act using Odin and TWRP
The description is for the S8 but the installation is practically the same.
HELP! S8 got bricked, can't access recovery mode and OEM is locked
Can I get some help? I bricked my phone because I was trying to install twrp. It flashed but I got an error where it reset my data, after data reset I was stuck at the boot screen with the logo . I've tried steps like flashing stock rom, odin...
forum.xda-developers.com
Give it a try on your S5.
Hope this might help you .

If already fixed then please let us know how you did it ... with some details.
I no longer have this problem. I upgraded to a Moto G7.
I did read the link above and it sounds interesting. I would definitely try it if I still had the Galaxy S5.
