Hello Guys, I bought this Moto x Style few months back. The mistake what I did was charging my phone while playing a game, and the charger pin got bend after which the charger is not working properly. Not working properly means it has to be bend somehow and then it charges and sometimes it Doesn't charge also. I think the charger pin got damaged from inside and I tried the charger on other phones also, still the same.
Does it come under warranty?
If not which is the best charger. As I am in india I dont see the moto turbo charger in the market.
Is the Nexus 6 charger compatible, As I saw some posts about it on the Internet.
Please suggest me the best thing possible.
Thanks
I had just given my turbo charger for service in India. It had stopped working through no fault of my own. Motorola has informed me (only after continuously emailing/calling them) that turbochargers are not available separately in India and it will take more than a month to replace it.
If you have bent your pin they will definitely check the charger for damage as they are very careful with accepting turbo chargers due to the shortage in India. Best bet would be to buy a third party charger (I suggest Tronsmart from Amazon) which will cost you approx Rs. 750-900.

Hello everyone,
Since a google search did not reveal other people having the same problem, decided to ask around here.
Purchased the Moto G a few days ago and only had to charge it once since then. Really happy with the phone as value for money is amazing.
This morning I used it with Navigation and when I got the 14% left of battery notification, connected my old car charger which worked fine with every device until now. To my surprise, the phone did not show any signs of charging and battery kept on discharging.
Got home, tried the cable that came in the box and same results. Connected the phone to a USB port on my PC and it charges. Tested my old phone with car charger and that works just as I knew it would.
Obviously, there's nothing wrong with the car charger which has an output rated at 5V and 500mA (same as USB port).
Asked moto support about this issue and they advised to turn off the phone for at least 5 minutes and try charger again. This time, when connecting the phone, it just turned on as I had left it turned off and after boot still no signs of charging.
The moto support website states that it should work with pretty much any charger.
Any advice besides from testing other car chargers?

motorola branded. Around 6€ if I remember correctly
I found an odd youtube clip from an aussie on the road complaining that none of the chergers he kept buying were working, what he eventually did was short out the green and white points in the charger as they apparently are left dead or have resistors on them but you could do the same by splicing a regular cable and twisting the green and white wires to the phone.
tried it earlier and it seems to work, so am adapting a cheapo usb wired charger first then will tinker with some cables.
My Moto G charges on every wall charger except Kobo's, the only 2A one. My generic auto charger has 1A and 2A sockets which both work. I suspect your auto charger is out of spec, 5V +/- 0.25V (USB 1/2). My Walkman didn't like my desktop ports, and support says custom computers may not work.
Wikipedia has a good section on Power (7) in the USB article. Forum won't let me post the link!
sure I have replied to one version of this anyway although a bit late this does come up first in a google.
so the issue is the phone has its floating point thingy locked so it it doesn't work with most in and out chargers even the posh ones only provide power.
so taking a hint from a crazy aussie who was butchering chargers I took a different approach and butchered cables.
the principle is the same the white and green wires in cable or the white and green terminals in the charger need to be bridged or joined together. if you feel the wires are a bit thin to cut into or you like me break them a lot then you can use a USB extension cable and splice that instead.
I chopped off the end off a data cable and patched one directly into a standard micro usb charger where I'd broken the tip and it works a treat as indeed do the other mods.
much easier than hacking the phone IMO.
Hi,
My Moto G came with a 500mAh wall charger but this device is supposed to charge up to 1500mAh.
So I decided to switch it with some other charger I had here at home.
I found a 700mAh ZTE charger (no data cable) and a 850mAh Sony charger (removable USB data cable).
The ZTE one works wonders.
The Sony on the other hand makes the touchscreen go crazy, it doesn't report the correct commands.
This really surprised me because the Sony charger came with an Xperia phone and seems much higher quality than the ZTE or the stock Moto ones. Maybe the data cable is a factor as well.
Still, when using the Sony cable for USB data, it doesn't mess with the phone at all which makes this even more weird.
I've also used a Car adapter charger with a nokia cable without issues.
After that I'm worried that non-moto chargers may damage my device in the long run.
I don't want to use the stock 500mAh charger since it is too slow, I could try to buy an original Moto G high power charger but I'd rather not since I have to ship it to my country. I can probably get a high power charger from another brand in a retail store here, but I don't know if I'm going to have touchscreen issues or worse, damage my device.
Any suggestions or compatible wall chargers ?

Any charger that doesn't surpass the Amperage limit Motorola imposed should do the job. The higher the value, the faster it charges.

But my issue is that some chargers will mess with the touchscreen (and who knows what else). I've read that the moto Razr also had this issue and some users said that it would damage the device.

Use your ZTE charger, then. You said it works wonders, so no need to use the Sony if it causes some weird actions

If I haven't had this exact thing happen to me, I wouldn't believe you since it shouldn't happen. But on my old HTC Sensation, if I used an old off-brand iPod charger I got off Newegg years back combined with my Kindle USB cable, it would happen. Any other combination of cables or chargers were fine. Even then I would just make sure to turn off the screen immediately after plugging it in and it charged perfectly fine. Usually (99% of the time) you won't run into this issue. Just plug it in and it should be ok.
Lately, the original 25W charger that came with my Moto X Style has broken off and I'm looking for a new fast charger for the phone.
I've come across this - https://buy.mi.com/in/item/3173700004 - Xiaomi 9V charger. It is QC3.0 certified, so I suppose this would fast charge MXS as well which is QC2.0 compliant device. It would cost me approximately 10$ along with Xiaomi's USB cable.
What do you guys think about it? Are there any other good options with at least QC2.0 certification? I'm from India, so if anyone from India has ever bought any good QC certified charger, please shed some light on this post.
Edit 1:
Got this charger delivered on 3rd May 2018. So far it is doing a great job. I ordered 2 Mi cables along with it. It takes ~60 minutes to charge the phone from ~5% to ~80%. The USB cables are just okay. It would be better to buy a better quality USB cable along with it. So for the price that it is sold for, it's just great and does its job well.
Good option
Have been using the same since the time it was launched in India with my style. Works fine. Haven't noticed anything strange. Charging time's are fine too . Just be careful with the cables at the joints.

I would have to buy Xiaomi's USB cable too along with it. Will that be okay? And since how long are you using it?

I did the same to avoid delivery costs . The cable transfers charge fine . Just take a little care of the joints .My dad's using a note4 and the inbox cable survived a year only of careful usage .
As for the quick charger I bought it around Jan this year . Quick charge works fine on all compatible devices .
Hi
I live in the EU? I'm having a hard time finding an extra original charger - is it not possible to buy an extra (EU Outlets)?
Can I use chargers for other phones? I have a charger for Huawei (SuperCharge) saying: 5V-2A or 4.5V-5A OR 5V-4.5A.
I've seen them on Aliexpress. Just look for the original ones.
Because I am concerned that always fast charging the battery might impact on its life, I only use the Oppo charger if I need a fast top-up. Otherwise I use an old, slower charger from a phone that I no longer even own. It works fine, as I'd expect.
I contacted Oppo as I wanted a UK charger but they couldn't help. Ended up getting a genuine one off eBay. I actually have an EU charger as mine was from the EU. I was actually thinking about putting it on eBay. Interested?
I have a basic cheap qi charger I used with my last phone, never had an issue. With my Mi 10 Ultra it only charges correctly like 1/10 times when I place it down on the charger. The weird thing is it shows it's charging, the pad and phone get warm which means electricity is flowing somehow, but the phone drops in battery instead of charging... I don't even know what to say or do. Kind of tempted to buy that 55w wireless charger though.
I had a similar issue but found that I had a few stock apps going in the background draining the battery quicker than it could charge (it was a cheap low wattage charger). Force closed the apps and killed a couple of processes and it steadily increased. Not ideal but I took that as a sign of using a cheap wireless charger.
Still on the stock chinese Rom until I get out of unlock jail so if you're on the EU Rom this might not help.
I bought the 55W wireless charger with my phone and it's brilliant.
I tested my previous Samsung 15w wireless charger & Huawei 15w charger with the Ultra and the charging speed was a trickle (according to Accubattery app) and near unusable on the phone so will probably go for the Xiaomi 55w charger from Aliexpress which some sellers seem to be offering the 65w charging brick with.
Will sell the 2 chargers I have whci should pay for the replacement
Does anyone have a source other than aliexpress/baba for the 55w wireless charger? I don't want to wait over a month for it.
Eh... I found other sites where it cost more and took longer to ship. I decided the fastest way to get it was to buy it from the fastest shipping seller on aliexpress and not delay any more
mine seems to have stopped saying fast charging when using my wireless charger, possibly since moving to the EU rom.
Just as proof this phone has something fundamentally wrong with its Qi charging compatibility, the charger only draws 2-3w from the wall when it's not working right. It uses 8+ when it's charging right. That's not the charger. The phone is doing something wrong.
2-3w appears to be what it draws when it's doing the detection algorithm to make sure it's compatible and will accept a charge. It does the same thing on my old s20+ but then goes up in wattage when it's actually charging to 9+.
I am using the 20W wireless car charger together with the 55W wireless charger (with 65watt GAN charger), and both of them works fine and fast. Just to beware that the car wireless charger is quite heavy and may stress your AC vents.
Something has definitely changed since moving to the EU rom. On the CN rom, it would activate the fan in my Huawei charger and say fast charging, now no fan and no fast charging.
Have you added it as a bug on the EU forum. It's ok noting it here but it needs to go on the bugs list to be noticed
