Xiaomi Mi 9V 2A QC3.0 Charger for Moto X Style? - X Style (Pure) Accessories

Lately, the original 25W charger that came with my Moto X Style has broken off and I'm looking for a new fast charger for the phone.
I've come across this - https://buy.mi.com/in/item/3173700004 - Xiaomi 9V charger. It is QC3.0 certified, so I suppose this would fast charge MXS as well which is QC2.0 compliant device. It would cost me approximately 10$ along with Xiaomi's USB cable.
What do you guys think about it? Are there any other good options with at least QC2.0 certification? I'm from India, so if anyone from India has ever bought any good QC certified charger, please shed some light on this post.
Edit 1:
Got this charger delivered on 3rd May 2018. So far it is doing a great job. I ordered 2 Mi cables along with it. It takes ~60 minutes to charge the phone from ~5% to ~80%. The USB cables are just okay. It would be better to buy a better quality USB cable along with it. So for the price that it is sold for, it's just great and does its job well.

Good option
Have been using the same since the time it was launched in India with my style. Works fine. Haven't noticed anything strange. Charging time's are fine too . Just be careful with the cables at the joints.

I would have to buy Xiaomi's USB cable too along with it. Will that be okay? And since how long are you using it?

I did the same to avoid delivery costs . The cable transfers charge fine . Just take a little care of the joints .My dad's using a note4 and the inbox cable survived a year only of careful usage .
As for the quick charger I bought it around Jan this year . Quick charge works fine on all compatible devices .

I got the Getwow fast charger from Amazon. So far, it works as it should. I have not experienced any problems. It was 15.99. FYI, Getwow also has a car charger version.
I got a Puregear as a spare. works just fine
Saw the other day. Shop, Android central had the samsung oem. Which is odd bc samsung last I thought didn't have then in their website to sell.
I have a Tenergy fast charger and a Power Partners Fast Charger. Both work as good and even better than the OEM Samsung charger. I got them on Amazon and they were about $20 - $25. The Power Partners charger comes with a 20 awg usb cord but it's 3 feet. They recommend using the provided cord for the best results. The specs are insane though. 5V-4A, 9V-2.22A, 12V-2.5A, or 20V-1A. I have tested it on several devices and they charge twice to three times faster (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 especially) and I haven't had any issues with heat and/or battery life nor faster battery depletion. The Tenergy is 5V-2A, 9V-2A, or 12V-1.5A and works perfect as well. The only thing about the Power Partners which hasn't been an issue just very.......different is that is has a pretty high pitched current noise. It's like a whistling noise when charging but it is cooler to the touch than the OEM Samsung and Tenergy chargers.
got my tenergy charger on friday, works wonderful
I ordered the Getwow home and car charger set from Amazon and it doesn't work. Still trying to find a good backup as well..
have the getwow unit and verified AC charger works. are you using the getwow or samsung cable. you need to use a data cable(just in case you weren't aware) and not a charge cable.

I'm using the cable they provided. Tried both cables they sent, nothing. Used the cables in my laptop and Xbox One and the phone charged.
This one from Verizon is the best one out there and I've tried them all.
I did buy the getwow ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q6H51F0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) since having two ports was a great idea (one QC plus one 2.1A port). The first 2 didn't work and the replacement 2 are working well.
One more thing: it is not QC certified (not listed on QC's website)

I didn't know the base plug lit up too, I thought it was just the micro usb cable end. I wanted to get that originally, but it was too expensive for me.

And you can see this light from across the whole house and the red ring of light goes out when the phone is completely charged.
Great Charger, I don't even use the stock Samsung one anymore.

Slow charging... Anyone else?

I've seen a few things online with no charging problems. Mine will charge but super slow. Overnight it will only charge to about 73%. Tried battery calibration and still nothing. Any tricks or fixes I don't know about?
Are you using the original charger and cable? You need at least a 2amp charger and the original cable to charge properly.

He is right. Older chargers are not 2 amp, and so they will charge, but very slowly. You don't have to necessarily use the original cable, or the stock charger. Really any cable will get you fast charging as long as the block that plugs into the wall is a 2 amp. Chargers that will charge tablets usually work. My wife has an LG G3 and the charger for that works as well.

Totally untrue and very bad, maybe even dangerous, advice...
Use a sub-standard cable with a 2 amp charger and you run a very serious risk of overheating, damaging the phone or charger, and even the risk of an electrical fire.
Always use good quality cables and chargers, and read other people's recommendations as to what are good. Buying a cheap set just to save a few quid could cost you your phone, or much more.

I agree if you buy a cable that ignores safety standards you could cause a fire, but that to me just has to do with being a cheap cable. Here is some information that supports what I am saying:
http://www.extremetech.com/computin...ks-or-how-to-avoid-blowing-up-your-smartphone
To quote that article "USB 1.0 and 2.0 specs, a standard downstream port is capable of delivering up to 500mA (0.5A); in USB 3.0, it moves up to 900mA (0.9A). The charging downstream and dedicated charging ports provide up to 1500mA (1.5A)"
Also, "You can plug any USB device into any USB cable and into any USB port, and nothing will blow up — and in fact, using a more powerful charger should speed up battery charging."
So perhaps I should explain to the person that asked the question, if your cable is more than a few years old, it may still charge slowly. You need it to be at least USB 3.0. But most cables sold in the last few years are USB 3.0.
Using a cheap quality cable, sure, that's always a bad idea no matter what. Using an older cable, the worst that could happen (assuming it's not in poor condition) is that it will only let .5amps through.
I charged mine last night for 7 hours and it only has 22% battery.
I originally bought a One Plus One in February 2015. It broke and I had to go through the extensive RMA process. Since they shipped the replacement phone to me, I have been noticing more and more problems. The latest being the charging. I cannot get it to charge correctly. Since the RMA process took a month (Feb 22 - March 22), I'm very reluctant to do it again. Considering selling this and going back to AT&T. Or at least some company that has phone support/any support.
I plugged it in 5 minutes ago at 7% battery and now its dead.

Are you using the original charger and cable?
Thanks for input guys. I do not have my original charger anymore. My wife's new kitten has made quick work if several chargers. I purchased one yesterday at local Verizon store. 2amp chargers are actually hard to find. So this is what I got. It charges fast again. Charged my phone from 5% to 71% in about 40 minutes. This model actually States 2.1 amp.
A great replacement is the original Blackberry Playbook charger with the non-removeable cable. Almost as fast as my original charger and a sensible price as well.
Install any ROM except the ones based on Omni.. (like the SlimROMs) and flash boeffla kernel. Keep the AC Charging Current up to 2200A. It says it may damage the USB Cable or charger but nothing ever happened to my Galaxy S3 (on the same kernel) or OPO. It charges extremely fast with the original USB cable and charger. Try it! Worked for all my friends!

5A cable in 2 meter/6 foot length?

Anyone, find a longer type C cable to replace the one shipped with our Mate 9? I just purchased a 2 meter cable from Bestbuy that was certified fast charge but it does not show up as Supercharge when charging. I noticed that our cables actually have 5A molded into the cable at the type C end and the one I purchased from Bestbuy was rated at 3A. I Googled but could not find anything. Just wandering if anyone else has found anything.
Thanks, Dhatw.
Looking for this myself for a while now. Actually I'm looking for any charger that supports the super charge feature, regardless of length.
Be careful if ordering off of Amazon, I bought one that was supposedly an OEM Huawei Mate 9 charger, but it wasn't. Slow charging...
I believe I read that Supercharge connectors have extra pins that aren't on a standard type-C cable, so you may need proprietary cables.
None of my longer usb c cables supercharge.
Not horrible speed though, about the same speed of my nexus 6p with quickcharge.

One of the very unfortunate parts of having this SuperCharge technology is that only Huawei's cables and chargers will work with it. I have seen some on Aliexpress, but I don't think they were longer than the original. I've also never found the car charger for sale.
I agree that a "regular" type C fast charge cable is not too bad as far as charging speeds. I just didn't want to mess anything up and also would like to get all that I can from my phone and charger. I emailed Huawei to ask them if they have a longer cable but don't expect a positive reply if at all.
Dhatw.
This is the first phone with Supercharge. With the P10 about to come out, and probably more, perhaps Supercharge accessories may become a little easier to come by before too long, due to increased demand/market.
Where do most people place their supercharge? I find that when I do need to fast charge, it's either at work or while I am away from home. At home, I just leave it on the charger over night, so I do not see a need for it to be at home. Also, I heard that leaving it on supercharge over night could eventually cause a quicker wear and tear on the battery as opposed to just standard charging?
Anyone else do the same thing?
I have mine at home for when I need a quick charge, but I normally use slower chargers, as I believe it's better for the battery. I also normally only charge to about 90% or so, and don't let it get below about 40%, unless I know I'm going to need a full charge. I most commonly need a quick charge in the car, but that doesn't seem to be available yet.
SuperCharge ONLY works with the Huawei charger brick, and Huawei USB A to C cable.
With that said, USB PD works with this device quite well. My Pixel XL charger actually puts more current/power into the Mate 9 than it does my Pixel XL! Measured at the wall, the Pixel XL maxes out at about 18W... the Mate 9 hits 20W. It's not as good as SuperCharge, but it's close. There aren't too many reputable, good type C chargers available right now, so your best bet is to buy the charger on the Google Store for $35 that comes with a quality 6 foot USB C cable as well. I personally have Apple's 6.6 foot/2M cable as it is the longest/best charging cable for type C you can buy right now at $19.

I haven't noticed any issues. The phone doesn't really get warm either. This is using an e-marked (chipped) cable as well, so if it fails, it's Huawei's fault for breaking USB spec.
Has to be a certain gauge or something for this cable.

I bought a couple of these on AliExpress, they look excactly the same (so they are 'short') and they do work with SuperCharge, very happy with them!
I think you would need a REALLY REALLY thick cable if you want to charge with 5 A and have a longer cable.

Supercharge Cable

Hi,
I understand that the "Supercharge" charger is different to my Samsung charger (for example) as it supplies 40w, however can anyone tell me, is the supplied "Supercharge" type C cable any different from a normal type C USB cable.
I have a few expensive Anker corded type C tables, and I don't want to replace these if there is no difference between the "Supercharge" cable, and the normal type C cable.
Thanks!
I guess there is a difference between cables. I get "Super charging" with the original cable only. With all my other cables, phones says "Charging".
The cables are 5A cables. Most cables you find are not rated 5A. I bought a bunch of them in China and they works with other phones just fine.
Hi,
As told by previous posts, huawei fast charge 22W or 40W (maybe more with upcoming m30pro) only works with 5A compatible AND certified cables.
They're can be identified with the 'purple' color inside the connector - like the 'blue' in the 'fast usb DATA' standard 3.0 or above cables.
Usually they're (5A ones) also compatible with other 'quick charge' technology like samsung, etc.. except oneplus.
I've bought a bunch of them in China for good price (~2 or 3 usd) but be careful to check the 5A certification and avoid low-cost, it do not worth it... They'll not gonna worked or if...they'll be warm, hot or burn soon enough to regret the so little spared money between the certified ones.
The longest certified one I bought is 1,5m.
I looked for a 2m, but not working, but the cable sucked too.
May be a good fabric will do.
But keep in mind that for that kind of heavy intensity charge tech, size does matter... LoL... the shorter the better [emoji849]
I may wrong but the PD certified cables, v2 or v3 at least, could also work, because they aim to support 60W or 100W for the top quality ones.
But need to be checked.
Cheers
Edit : except it is a 'need' for 'now', I advise to wait for 2020 to renew your 'cable management library' with the USB 4 (if something change with this release) cables which will spread worldwide soon next year !!
Tapa'DoC'eD
I dont know about "certified" but all of my 5A cables work for supercharging.
I got this 2m one and it works fine.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NZB194V
I personally don't like fabric coverings as it feels like it will wear out faster.
I meant 'certified' like the 'build for' in a tech way, not like some others like lighting or hdmi which stand for 'have paid the taxes to be able to...'
[emoji846]
Thanks for the share.
The bought 2m one was just marked as 'work with' and of course received without the 'purple' connectors, and no fast charge. marketing ≠ technique. I'll take a look at your link.
Cheers

Do they really super charge or just regularly charge?
The main reason for doubting is that Huawei already complains about compatible USB headset which isn't from Huawei. I would guess they could easily filter out if the cable is Huawei or not. The USB cables provide some information (or IDs) which the interface could read. Therefore I would guess Huawei is filtering out what belongs to them and what not. If they do it on the headset why not as well on the charging cables?
Anyway... The q remains: Does it really work?
Yes really. It says supercharging on the screen and it charges my phone in an hour vs several hours
This cable works for sure

I think it only needs to be quick charge 2.0/3.0 capable. Didn't the OP say he had trouble using the original pixel charger that came with his phone? I actually ran into issues using my original pixel wall charger with some wireless car charger mounts. They worked fine with QC chargers.

I ordered one too for 10 bucks it's worth a try.
They sent two of these to me. Both show max 8.4 watts no matter what cable/plug I use and I have many. It also does not present itself as a Pixel Stand - those features are not available.
To add, I noticed the stands get in a state that bounces power on/off very quickly and doesn't stop. I would avoid these.

Yes, bouncing like a bad port on a router/switch. It goes from charging/not charging very quickly over and over after about 3-5 minutes of charging.

Sorry for any delayed responses here (holiday) though I have just caught these testing results.
I just received an additional (2) of the same chargers and all seem to charge fine here. (Pixel 4 XL)
All being used with Samsung AC Fast Charging AC adapter.
Check to see if the AC adapter you are using has both 5v & 9v output. (Must have 9v for the FAST to charge)
-
Can you post a photo of the AC adapter that you are using ? (all photos could be of assistance here.)
The stand itself is 20w so fast charging would more or less come down to the AC plug.
** Keep in mind that the OG cable and AC charger plug that came with the PIXEL phone is not compatible
with this charger that will hit at SLOW. (mentioned in OG post)
I tried several, from the OEM to choetech to aukey to zte. I used the cable it came with, OEM a to c, OEM c, third party c; i tried both type c and qc3 chargers...all with no success. I wouldn't think the pixel stand feature shouldn't have anything to do with charging speed, though I can't say for sure

I believe the PIXEL stand software features only become enabled when detecting a FAST CHARGE at 13.5w.
(which is capable when using AC adapters of 9v & more)
The only AC adapter I personally have found to be non working was THE OG stuff & USB C to USB C
Most USB C to USB A seemed to work with no hitch.
USB C adapters, had no issues with them either. worked fine.
Can you snap of picture of the AC adapter labels. ?
See if we could narrow down the issues.
also one last .... check the actual charging wattage using the app Inware. (Battery Tab)
The lock screen charging message will ONLY show Charging Wireless - not rapid charging (which is easily misleading) though is running at FAST WIRELESS CHARGING speeds.

Using with LG stylo 5 fast adapter and the chargingspeed is fast. between 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours total. Using with Usb C to Usb A cable 3 ft.
My only issue really was trying to get the extra software up and running. I couldn't figure out why or how to do it. strange as I moved my pixel phone upwards while resting on the dock all of a sudden it just appeared out of nowhere to activate all the extras. weird device for sure but works.

---- II personally didnt even know there was such software initially for as it only showed up about an hour later sitting on the charger. Please let us know how it all goes and if you have any trouble along the way.
Knowing they are knock offs, I am kind of curious to see what the long run holds. Thanks for the info.

I am using the original lg fast adapter plug.
9.0v 1.8amps and 5.0v 1.8 amps. working well with stand.

I ordered a pair of these stands as well and am still waiting for them.
But I did order this one before that from amazon https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Y9J68TC
and it also gets recognized as a pixel stand. (only when using samsung or QC3 adapters though)
