Anyone, find a longer type C cable to replace the one shipped with our Mate 9? I just purchased a 2 meter cable from Bestbuy that was certified fast charge but it does not show up as Supercharge when charging. I noticed that our cables actually have 5A molded into the cable at the type C end and the one I purchased from Bestbuy was rated at 3A. I Googled but could not find anything. Just wandering if anyone else has found anything.
Thanks, Dhatw.
Looking for this myself for a while now. Actually I'm looking for any charger that supports the super charge feature, regardless of length.
Be careful if ordering off of Amazon, I bought one that was supposedly an OEM Huawei Mate 9 charger, but it wasn't. Slow charging...
I believe I read that Supercharge connectors have extra pins that aren't on a standard type-C cable, so you may need proprietary cables.
None of my longer usb c cables supercharge.
Not horrible speed though, about the same speed of my nexus 6p with quickcharge.

One of the very unfortunate parts of having this SuperCharge technology is that only Huawei's cables and chargers will work with it. I have seen some on Aliexpress, but I don't think they were longer than the original. I've also never found the car charger for sale.
I agree that a "regular" type C fast charge cable is not too bad as far as charging speeds. I just didn't want to mess anything up and also would like to get all that I can from my phone and charger. I emailed Huawei to ask them if they have a longer cable but don't expect a positive reply if at all.
Dhatw.
This is the first phone with Supercharge. With the P10 about to come out, and probably more, perhaps Supercharge accessories may become a little easier to come by before too long, due to increased demand/market.
Where do most people place their supercharge? I find that when I do need to fast charge, it's either at work or while I am away from home. At home, I just leave it on the charger over night, so I do not see a need for it to be at home. Also, I heard that leaving it on supercharge over night could eventually cause a quicker wear and tear on the battery as opposed to just standard charging?
Anyone else do the same thing?
I have mine at home for when I need a quick charge, but I normally use slower chargers, as I believe it's better for the battery. I also normally only charge to about 90% or so, and don't let it get below about 40%, unless I know I'm going to need a full charge. I most commonly need a quick charge in the car, but that doesn't seem to be available yet.
SuperCharge ONLY works with the Huawei charger brick, and Huawei USB A to C cable.
With that said, USB PD works with this device quite well. My Pixel XL charger actually puts more current/power into the Mate 9 than it does my Pixel XL! Measured at the wall, the Pixel XL maxes out at about 18W... the Mate 9 hits 20W. It's not as good as SuperCharge, but it's close. There aren't too many reputable, good type C chargers available right now, so your best bet is to buy the charger on the Google Store for $35 that comes with a quality 6 foot USB C cable as well. I personally have Apple's 6.6 foot/2M cable as it is the longest/best charging cable for type C you can buy right now at $19.

I haven't noticed any issues. The phone doesn't really get warm either. This is using an e-marked (chipped) cable as well, so if it fails, it's Huawei's fault for breaking USB spec.
Has to be a certain gauge or something for this cable.

Thanks, order placed. I expect it will fast charge, but not supercharge.
I bought a couple of these on AliExpress, they look excactly the same (so they are 'short') and they do work with SuperCharge, very happy with them!
I think you would need a REALLY REALLY thick cable if you want to charge with 5 A and have a longer cable.

I just received the official Universal 22.5W Dual Port USB Type-C Charger from the Google Store only to discover that only one of the ports offers rapid charging (as noted at the bottom of the Nexus 6P lock screen). I tested this using the USB Type-C cable provided with this charger. No other device was being charged in the second port during my testing.
Major bummer since this is not a cheap charger. Anyone else run into this?
it says on the box that it "Intelligently diverts 15W to the port that need the most power" I'm guessing this isn't true?

Spoke with Google support and they said the exact same words. They confirmed that when two rapid-charging-capable devices are plugged in, only 1 of the devices will receive rapid charging. I don't have two rapid-charging-capable devices to confirm their claim unfortunately. The weird part is that it seems like only 1 port is dedicated to rapid-charging, while the other port will only provide "regular" charging. Going to return it.
It's quite straight forward from the rating itself. If both the port were able to radip-charge, the power should be 30W instead of 22.5W.
Ill have 2 phones to test mine with Monday. I'll post a video/picture for you guys.

Yes, but it makes it sound as if either port can deliver the full 15a if needed or if only one device is plugged in. If this isn't the case that is misleading and disappointing.
This is the second time I have seen someone post that the chargers Google is selling do not rapid charge. I have both the dual port 22.5w and 15w and both charge rapidly for me. Granted I only have my 6P plugged into the dual port. I was really worried after someone on G+ claimed the only way they were able to get the dual port to charge rapidly was with the type c to c cable that came in the 6P box.

Or rapidly charged my 5X with both cables ( the 5x one and 6'one that came with the charger)
My 22.5 W charger from the Google Store does the exact same thing. The port closer to the end of the charger gives "rapidly charging" and the other port just gives "charging" on my 6p with the other port free. Guess it isn't so automatic after all.
My wife's 5x shows charging from either port though. It seems the 5x has a lower threshold for displaying "charging rapidly" as it also shows this when charging from a 1.8 A charger that I have.

You should read people's post most thoroughly. He did NOT say that his 22.5w wouldn't rapid charge, he said it would only rapid charge from 1 of the ports.

This is because there is no RAPID CHARGING technology in either the phone or the charger! While either port can support 3A, they can't both do 3A simultaneously! Hence it is 22.5W rated and not 30W rated.
Hmm, interesting. I haven't noticed this yet. When I do plug my phone in (top port), I'm pretty sure it said "Charging Rapidly," but I'm going to confirm this when I get home today. Part of me thought it was taking longer to charge my phone through this charger than the charger that came with the phone, but figured it was just my perception.

You're not understanding. Let's say the charger has two ports: A and B. They are saying that if they plug the phone into port A with nothing in port B, they get rapid charging. If they plug it into port B with nothing in port A, they do NOT get rapid charging.

I do get that some people are SAYING they are getting the Rapid Charging banner from one port or the other, but not both. Got it. That is a test of what the phone is doing and not what the charger is capable of outputting. At 75% charged, I plugged my phone into a 2A charger and it read -384mA current flow. A minute or so later it said +1256mA. This is showing both the lag in the updates to the app and that the power control chip is managing the power flow.
Put a known resistive load on the charger and measure the current with a multi-meter. It should be the same for both ports, assuming the other port is empty.
I am waiting on delivery of some non-Google 5V/3A chargers (car and wall), when I finally get to test them, I will report back.

I can confirm this as well on mine. With the same phone plugged into Port A it rapid charges, but when moved from Port A to Port B it does not.
At least we are finding out it's not either port... It's obvious that 22.5W isn't enough to fast charge two low battery nexus 5x or 6p at the same time... google even said that. It just sounds like you can't use either port for the fastest charging. GTK though. Since there aren't any other type C chargers available right now I don't regret buying the 22.5W dual port... just a little upset it's really only on one of the two you can get the real type C rapidly charging.

Well the fast charging is 15W so what did you expect when you saw the rating of 22.5W? One port is for slow charging no matter what and the other fast charges. The inside port is the slow charging on based on testing mine and the outside one fast charges.
ofc... but...

Mine too... I think many of us would have thought that either port should be capable of 15W fast charging our new nexus's... I'm not sure if this was some oversight or what because nothing on the website or on the charger seems to indicate one charge port is different than the other... that was my main point.

Why? It is unclear if the original poster desired a captive Type C, Type C to Type C, or Type A to Type C charger. All 3 would work.
The problem with this charger is that 18W is for Quick Charge which is 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A. This charger most likely won't ever output more than 2.4A at 5V. Not that that is hateful, just not 3A.

Do you specifically want a charger with a Type C port in it? Or would a 5V/3A Type A to Type C or Captive Type C charger be OK?
I think you are going to find that we are really early in the Type C adoption and there just aren't many small/handheld devices using Type C yet, so there aren't many accessories. The other is issue is 5V/3A is unlikely to be exceptionally prevalent even when Type C ramps up, but I could be wrong. I just think most vendors will use some form of voltage hopping quick charging technology, especially since QC 3.0 is built into the Qualcom SOCs where the Snapdragon 810 and below that use QC 2.0 require an additional chip. Not sure what the Lumia 950XL or Sony X5 (?) is using.

BZZZT. Try again, neither of those chargers are the right setup. The first one will only do 2.1A not 3A. The second does not have a Type C port it has a Type A and comes with a Type A>C cable which means you'll get about 1.5A maximum from it on a 5X or 6P.
To get 3 amp charging you need two things. A. The charger port MUST be a Type-C port. B. The charger must be rated for [email protected]
Google is best answer... for now.
None of the currently available chargers on the market can provide the 3W and intelligence needed to quick charge usb type c I've found so far. My solution, though not the cheapest, was to order the two port 22.5W google usb type c charger. It came quickly and it works great I can confirm. If you read the spec on type c charging it not only can do 3A @ 5V but also other amounts at different voltages I think... even 12V in some cases. I'm not sure if the 6P will use all of the options but USB type C is whole new animal when it comes to charging fast.

Agreed, that's the one I bought and received a few weeks ago.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm looking for Type-C to Type-C at 3amp/5v, which I believe is the fastest?
I have heard Anker will be releasing their Type-C range within the next week on Amazon, so hopefully soon we should have some more accessories soon!
At the moment I have resorted to using my RAVPower portable charger with Type-C connection for when I don't have my mains charger on me. Although this is quite a nuisance...
Yeah, I haven't seen any other 5V 3A Type C ones, but honestly I haven't looked much. I picked up the dual 22W one from google for work, figured it came with a cable long enough for my use at my desk I'd just go that route for now. Hopefully we do start getting more soon, as I need a folding one for travel. My current one is Type A, and I have a few A to C cables at the house so at least I have something I can charge with.

My experience with the N6p on the stock charger is that while it will briefly bounce up to 2.8, it doesn't ramp up smoothly. It pretty much does a roller coaster like you described almost the whole time probably averaging around 1 to 1.5 amps. I also tried with my anker 2.4 amp and it didn't seem to be that much less. Very disappointing actually.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3237848
I used a 5V/3A charger with captive microusb (for raspberrypi). With a micro to c adapter, it charged my 6P at ~2.7A (less than 40% battery). The charger and adapter were less than $15 total.
I've also used a multi-port charger with a quality A-C cable and get ~2.4A charging.
I've got the Cheeotech one somewhere. I was one of the few they picked last year to test it out with the N6. That Amazon page is just their QC2.0 charger with a USB C to A cable. I will try to find mine and see how it charges.

The battery and temperature control is the limitation of the charging speed, google could use a 5v 2a charger to get this job done, 5v 3a is actually not quicker for Nexus 5p, google is making jokes with us.
I just stumbled upon this when looking for a new car charger that would keep USB C for my 6P, and the new Nexus in case it also doesn't support QC, but wanted QC support as well for USB A since I just bought an expensive Anker Power line+ USB A to C cable (they don't offer C to C). But, I wanted 2 USB A ports, not just 1.
Lo and behold, the only car charger of its kind! This puppy has 2x USB A QC 3.0 ports & 1x USB C with QC 3.0 as well.
I will have it Saturday and test it out for both my Note7 and 6P. Their other products have pretty good reviews. I guess the customer service may suck if the product fails according to some reviews, but it seems like a low failure rate, and with Prime I'm not too worried.

Your 6P don't need Quick Charge you know ?
A 5v/3a charger with USB-C will do the trick.

Also worth noting QC on a type C port is in direct violation of the USB Type C standard. Would not be "Benson-approved"

5V/3A is the USB C standard, so any C charger should work. But the new Nexuses could use QC - my Tronsmart car charger has had USB C with QC and works fine with my 6P and any QC device I tried. But more importantly, I have a 6P and so does my girlfriend, but I also have a Note7, so the flexibility is nice.

Benson approved really doesn't matter for this. LG, HTC, Samsung, and Qualcomm all support/back using QC over USB C with properly made cables and chargers. Just because it doesn't adhere to the standard doesn't automatically mean anything is wrong with it. USB C power delivery calls for what, 20V at 5A or something like that? It can obviously handle the load.

I just don't trust it that's all. there are too many manufacturers making type c chargers with Vbus hot and bridged CC - which is dangerous for devices/chargers. IMO if they are willing to break one spec, they are likely willing to break multiple.

Sure, for about 15 minutes. Thought I posted back here but apparently not.
It's trash. Yes, it has all the mentioned ports and it works perfectly with each device briefly. Problem is, it becomes thermally overloaded and the charge speeds drop DRAMATICALLY. USB C charging, even at 5V/3A, was by far the worst. Charging a USB C device by itself would rapid charge for about 30-45 minutes before slowing way down. QuickCharge generally worked okay for a little bit longer. If you had 2 devices charging at the same time, you'd be lucky to keep them going for 20 minutes. Also, it constantly drew power (a significant amount) from my car's power port because it was ALWAYS very warm to the touch which made the overheating problem happen even faster if I didn't unplug it in-between uses.

Good to know. I've been having a frustrating hunt for a fast charging car charger.
I took this Aukey charger with me on a one-month, 3,000 mile road trip and it worked perfectly the whole time, just used the C-C cable that comes with the 6p charger. Can't recommend it enough.

USB Type C Car Charger, BlitzWolf 27W 5V/3A USB-C 3.3 Feet Cable Extension and 2.4A USB $10
I bought this one price was right and it charges almost as quickly as oem. The only con is the cable is built in.
You can look at the brand anker ?
I use this one. It charges just as fast as the OEM wall charger. Plus it has a standard Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 if you have another device.

I would wait to see if Benson reviews it, awful lot of stuff out there that operates out of spec.
I agree. Unless you absolutely need one right now, I'd wait until they review more stuff or just pony up $40 for the Belkin... WAY too much variation in how these manufacturers are producing USB-C chargers.

I agree. I was totally in the dark until I started following Benson and Nathan. Especially with Aukey, I don't think I'll risk it. Plus it's only a 15w.

The quoted charger is actually over 18W, so it will charge the Pixel at full speed. I'd like to buy one because it's the only option, but... my 15W standard type C charger will hold me over for now.

Yea it's USB A to USB C, IV had other USB C to USB C and there is no difference in charging speed for one, for two this is a good inexpensive option that comes with a USB A to USB C cable
I bought this charger along with a Black Squid Type-C to Type-C cable and it shows "charging rapidly" for me.

It is half the price but it doesn't include a USB c cable. The Belkin does. Just something to keep in mind.

I bought this charger and it's working great. Using the USB a-c cable that was bundled with the Pixel.
My last car charger was a very similar, low profile Aukey one with QC 2.0 and I never had any issues with it either.
This is the one I use. Fast charges both my Nexus 6p and Pixel XL. I think it was mentioned by Benson to be good also.

The Pixel does not support Quick Charge. Don't know what you will get from USB-A to USB-C.
Good setup is 5V/3A = 15W from a good USB-C charger and cable.
Best setup is 9V/2A = 18W from a good USB-C PD charger and cable

All I'm saying is these chargers are 24w / 3A , and when I plug in my pixel it tells me rapidly charging. I can get a full charge in the same amount of time as my charger I received with my pixel phone, or the Belkin USB type c charger I have , just trying to save you guys some money. As for reliability I had a 6p when they first came out and the battery and phone are still good in that an I have always used that charger. Hope this helps!

Although the Snapdragon 821 is capable of Quick Charge 3.0 for the Pixel, it looks like Google has elected to use the USB-C Power Delivery standard. I just looked up a bunch of very confusing technical stuff, but the big advantage of PD is use of the data connection within USB-C while charging. ( like from a computer ). I don't think there is very much difference in the rate of charging with PD vs Quick Charge. Rest assured, the Pixels will charge VERY quickly.
I'm on my way to work but this should sum it up, all sd821 are quick charge 3.0 capable, like I said this charger is 24w/3a an you won't be using the USB PD features while charging in your car anyway.

That's a standard 5v 2.4A charger according to it's specs, at max you'll get 12w decent charge albeit not "max" but who cares, since the Pixel doesn't support qc. Using it with the stock pixel a to c cable should be safe, I wouldn't use an untested cable tho and risk frying the Pixel.
The blitzwolf usb-c +a car charger, non qc, is only $5 delivered on Banggoods on sale, comes usb-c cabled and has usb a slot. I use it and get a good safe charge from it.
The visnic has been tested to work well, only $10 but you need a cable too.
I've read countless comments here about how dash charging requires a compatible charger and cable. However. I recently made an unexpected discovery that certain cables sold on Amazon support dash charging with the Oppo branded VOOC chargers (but apparently not the OnePlus branded charger). I discovered this by accident when I plugged this cable into my Oppo charger:
Cable Matters USB-C Cable (USB A to USB C Cable/USB C to USB Cable) in Black 6.6 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S8GU544/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dkTJBbN069J3Z
Using this cable I get the beep, the blue light and the dash charging icon, and my OP6 does in fact charge at the faster rate. Wondering if it was a fluke, I bought a second cable and got the same results. This is great since these cables are 6 feet long, thin and flexible, and appear to be well made.
Now here's where it gets really weird: both cables only dash charge when plugged into the Oppo branded wall charger. When connected to the OnePlus charger they only charge at the normal rate. The Oppo charger looks exactly the same only with different branding. I do not know why these cables seem to work with one but not the other. I cant think of why they would support dash charging at all except that maybe they're made for the Chinese domestic market.

Is it safe for your cellphone?
From what I understand, OP has a way of knowing if one of their cables is connected. If using a generic cable, it will default to slow charging.
Seeing that OP fast charging is based off of OPPO fast charging, it should be fine.
I would assume the OPPO brick doesn't care who's cable you're using as long as it can support the higher charging rate
Ordered both, the USB/C cable was just delivered, 3ft is long enough. Found it on Amazon for $5 and the OPPO charger on eBay for $10, that's about a 1/2 price of Oem from OP site.($8 and $20 respectively) It's always good to have a spare 'just in case'.
Interesting find.

I have read people recommending to get Oppo VOOC charger brick, as it supports Dash Charge.
Oppo and OnePlus are same companies.
Yes, its recommended to just buy oppo charger / cables. Both are the same and support dash (same name with vooc) . It's alot cheaper too.

Sometimes its the only option.
I am in Australia and the only charger with Australian pins is available through Oppo.
OnePlus does not manufacture AU chargers currently.
I have the official oneplus dash charger and the dash charging is activated with all the cables I have (an old huawei cable, and 2 generic ones) , but it took 3 to 4 seconds for the phone to activate dash charging while it is almost instantaneous with the official cable.
act OPPO and ONEPLUS is made in China and same parent company...instead of dash charges, OPPO call it VOOC
What about OPPO rapid (aka dash) car chargers for OnePlus?
If you can wait for shipping from China:
$8 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-O...pter-Cable-For-OnePlus-6-5T-5-3T/223031157260
$13 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-O...e-C-Cable-For-Oneplus-3T-5-5T-6/263870632520?

Has anyone found a 10ft cable that is compatible with warp charging?
BlitzWolf BW-P12 supports dash 20 on my op6t in case anyone needs a powerbank with Warp charge. they do not advertise it anywhere, it just works. Also the advertised low power charge does not work.
