I have multiple s6 and s6 edges and the original wall worts and cables...I've tried charging this device with literally every combo possible, and confirming with another s6 edge that those combos work, and nothing. This is a no go in both regular and safe mode.
I can charge it via USB on my PC and MBP in both regualr and safe modes though.
It is full stock never rooted. I have tried clearing system cache, uninstalling third party apps, turning on and off USB debug...and it only work as described. All apps are updated (now uninstalled)
Anyone have any other thoughts or ideas? Obviously a hard reset is an idea, but trying to avoid that for now. I'm hoping that I someone has an idea before I do that, since that's my last ditch effort.
It's a Sprint branded original launch date purchased device. And again, this started immediately after updating to 6.0.1 earlier today.
Thanks in advance!!

Seems a grounding/pin issue on the USB port. Maybe cleaning the contacts with isopropanol can help.
Hard reset and if that doesn't help you've got to get it back to the store.

I recently got a microusb to usb female cable and was playing around with it on my s3. I wanted to see if the s3 could power a laptop cooling fan (Im a curious guy) and plugged in the usb cooling pad. The pad worked to my surprise but it suddenly shut off. I look at the s3 and the s3 is off too. I try turning it back on but that didnt work. I try taking the battery out and then turning it on but that didnt work. I plugged it into a charger and tried turning it on but that didnt work either. I even tried booting it into download mode and that didnt work. I have tried almost every troubleshooting method including trying a different battery and that did not work either. My phone is rotoed with CM10 on it and I need to send it back to verizon once I get my replacement. Is there a way to reset the internal sd card even when the phone wont turn on? Will verizon even find out if the phone is rooted if it wont turn on? Has anyone ever sent in a rooted phone to verizon once they got a replacement and been ok? Your help, thoughts, and any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. (As calm as I may sound i am freaking the crap out right now).
My first tip is to stop posting the same question. It's been answered in your previous threads. Just like droidstyle said they won't know if it's rooted unless you tell them. As far add testing the internal memory, there is no way since it won't turn on.

Hey there,
I'm wondering if there may be a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and I wanted to get some opinions before I try one last thing and fully reset it.
I've had the phone since April last year and for some reason the battery life has never really been good anyway. This isn't the main reason I am posting though as only recently I noticed a different issue when I tried to transfer some files onto the phone.
I was trying to use the cable that comes with the phone to charge it, and I've done so before when I've transferred files before from my Macbook. However, that time before I also found it very difficult to detect the phone and kept having to unplug it and plug it back in before it would see it. I was using the software Android File Transfer. Last night I could literally not get it to see my phone whatsoever... I plugged it into the computer and it would charge but it literally could not detect a connected device.
So here's where it gets frustrating as I spent the next two hours trying to fix this issue. I tried searching for a solution online which is why I'm now here after everything as all that I tried didn't work. I tried switching to SmartSwitch (and uninstalled AFT first), but that program also didn't detect my phone. Then I tried Airdroid, which worked only when I used the file upload under the browser but refused to connect to the phone when I clicked it on My Devices.
I even tried the method of *#0808# but it was actually already set to the correct settings so now I'm completely at a loss as to what it could be.
I've previously also had issues where I've plugged in the phone and it hasn't started fast charging and I haven't realised for an hour that it's only been cable charging and had to plug it back in for it to recognise it... is this likely a problem with the phone or cable?
I mean, aside from the also frustrating battery issues which have been worsening as time goes by (currently phone is on 79% having only used 39m screen time), I'm not sure whether it's time to give the phone a reset before actually taking it in to the store or whether it's likely an issue with the connector port at the bottom too which means it's probably not worth the hassle of resetting?
I won't go too much into the battery issues here, but I've been trying to use Greenify, App Optimisation, literally EVERYTHING I can think of, and I still don't get any more than 4 hrs and a half screen time.
My phone is not rooted. (though I'm wondering whether rooting it may help me). Thanks and I hope you have some advice that may resolve my issues!
I have the same issue.. muy phone won't charge unless otra on the wireless charging port
I have the SAME issue. I really don't know how to fix it!
Hmmmm sounds like your charging port is starting to go either that or maybe you could try flashing some new software through Odin and hope that's it's a software issue and as for the battery of course rooting does help bc it lets you get rid of the bloatware on the phone either that or try package disabler pro.
Hi
I am in need of help. I am still using a Samsung Galaxy SIII. I discovered yesterday it was stuck on the Samsung screen. I researched and did all I could find. Soft restart, factory reset ect. I turn it on and still goes through the start up then is stuck on the Samsung. The light indicator is flashing blue if that helps. I hook it up to my computer and it does not recognize it. I hook my wife's up and it instantly sees it. It is model SGH-I747M. I know I need a new one but finances just are not there. Any help to get it back working wold be greatly appreciated.

How long did you let it boot after factory resetting it? Sometimes it can take 10-20 for it to finish booting.
What is the model number of your S3?

I let it sit for probably a good hour. The model is SGH-I747M. I am in Canada. I have read to use the original cable but that is long gone.
Thanks for replying

You can use any cable that supports charging and data transfer. Some cords will only transfer photos and such like the cord from a digital camera. Depends on whether it's a 4 pin or 5 pin cable. If the cord shows connection on Odin then you're good.
Find your newest stock firmware for your model number/region/carrier and flash it via Odin.

Hey guys!
I've recently been handed down a S6 and it worked perfectly until suddenly it would not charge anymore. Figured out that I could charge my phone through either my PS4 or through the Computer (Although it keeps disconnecting and connecting the USB again), and I can live with that, but a week ago my phone then started doing something that could literally make me throw it out my window in my second floor apartment...
Gear VR install wizard pops up every 5 seconds, during phone calls, while watching videos, during basically everything and it's super hard to even use the phone when you have to back out of the install wizard every time...
Now, I scoured through Google to find out what I could do but since it's most likely the USB port that got defect somehow, I'm pretty much ****ed when it comes to that -_-
So I then started thinking that if I install a custom ROM or at least get my phone rooted, I might be able to get rid of this Gear VR ****, but since my computer does not recognize the phone anymore, I cannot use odin nor ADB (I wish stock roms had the wifi ADB feature)
So my question is; Is there a way to root my phone through stock recovery or any other means that don't require a USB connection?
Thanks in advance.
As an added bonus, my phone has now started to completely turn off randomly sometimes, which is kinda annoying because while reading something on chrome, it just turns off >.>
I'm really hoping someone has a way to help me :/

In the s6, you can disable any apps without root using a paid app called Package Disabler Pro available on Play Store or warez. Use that! That's what most people who are not rooted do to freeze bloatwares & it works perfectly!

As far as i know, USB connection is necessary. try replacing the micro usb socket, you can find it on eBay.
Hi,
As the title says I think it might have broken fast wireless charging. I actually had the phone running stock on the wireless charger and all was fine. It had charged from 14% to around 65% when I saw that there was a system update. It was only small so I figured it was the monthly security update. After installing it I can no longer use fast wireless charging. I put the phone on the charger and first i get the charging message, then the fast charging message and immediately after I get "wireless charging paused". I tried my wife's S7 and that fast charges fine. After looking it up on various sites I tried all the tricks. Changing the cord, changing the charger, trying different outlets, safe mode, factory rest, everything. Nothing works. I can use it for regular charging if I change the cord or charger brick, but that defeats the purpose of having fast charging. Has anyone else experienced this with the latest update? And does anyone have any tips or fixes for it? Samsung and Sprint are clueless. The only answer I get it basically bring it in for repair and pay us to fix it.
Thanks.
I don't know about Fast Wireless, I just have the regular wireless charger but wired fast charging is working on stock and even very modified software. Just do a Factory Reset and see if that fixes it.
Thanks for the reply.
Wired seems to be working as normal. I tried a factoy reset and still the same. I looked in Samsung's official forums and it looks like on the S8 sometime before Christmas a security update did the same thing to some phones. It's a pity we can't uninstall the security patch and see if that would have fixed it.

It is and old phone...you can go back with Odin but that will trigger the KNOX...
I think it was broken before that! I was having this issue well before and they offered to replace my charger then wanted me to send the phone in to get replaced (im rooted so its not going back) it charges on a non fast charger fine
Security Patch Rest
You have to do a complete factory reset. Install N920PVPU3DQC5 firmware through odin. Thats the first n920p 7.0 firmware.
It will update the firmware about 7times to the current firmware.
you can stop the updating at anytime between updates.
you have to use the N920PVPU3DQC5_Recovery.zip from android filehost.
