Swiping down the Status Bar/Tool Bar inconsistent? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Has anyone else had issues with swiping down the status bar/tool bar? Sometimes I swipe several times (and slowly) and it doesn't pull down. Touching the screen anywhere else is still responsive and the phone isn't hung up. It can take me 4-5 times to get it to come down sometimes and then sometimes the issue isn't present at all. Very confusing and annoying.
FYI I'm using a tempered glass screen protector - wondering if that is hindering responsiveness?

I've had this happen but usually works on my second swipe. I'm not using a screen protector.

So odd.. didn't have this issue on my s6 active, nor any previous android phone I've owned.

I've tried starting sliding from the Samsung logo at the top without anything happening at times. That has nothing to do with it.

It's the screen protector. Took mine off and it's night and day...

[Q] lock screen flaw

Don't know if its my lockscreen only but whenever I have the weather lockscreen and its in the triple digits (eg. 100 degrees and over) right after you the weather animation the temp won't display properly. If its 100 or over the 1 will be to close to the right edge and you won't be able to see it. Anyone else getting this.

are you in an area with 100+ weather? if not, of course yours is fine. this thread is stating that once it hits 100 it gets wonky
Man this six on htc part on how this could be overlooked, really hope this gets fixed soon. It no biggie but its just anoying that's it there.
Using the weather lock screen. Today I got the bug where the bottom half of the screen was black and the whole lock screen was shifted up. I think someone else posted about this in another thread, but after trying to switch between lock screens it looks like it's specific to the weather lock screen.
If it helps, it seemed to happen after I disconnected the phone from my car charger. When unplugging it, the screen was all screwed up. I just hit the power button and got out. Later when unlocking the phone it looked like the phone was trying to put the lock screen in landscape, but just freaked out and it never lined up again.
Reboot fixed the issue.

now that i been using the sensation for a few days now i notice overall sense is really buggy, not just with the lock screen. i had times where the screen wont respond to my touch, launcher force closing and even random reboots. i really hope htc ota a update soon to fix all these issues.
get your lock screen back
Battery pull will reset your lock screen to default, I did it with the phone on and screen in portrait mode, but it won't stop it from doing it again.
I discovered that should you activate pattern lock, the camera will show no functionalities such as taking picture or anything. It will gave you the viewfinder and nothing else.
This happens when you bring the camera icon into the ring while in locked screen.

Easy, the rest of the civilized world doesn't give a **** about the a temperature scale that's horribly broken and mostly made up. Why the US clings to archaic scales of measurement is baffling.

I'm not sure what causes it but a few people have this issue was another thread awhile back. only outcome was turn off screen and back on and it went away.
I do turn off the screen, but it comes right back after about 5 minutes.

i used to have this fairly often but it's been a while now. i would fix it by wiping down the screen really well, leading me to believe that it might have something to do with grease or something that gets on the screen. not positive tho..

Well, now that i have installed some mods and other stuff it seemed to have stopped. Don't know why the mods would affect it... I will wipe it down though just to be safe.
It's just the way it is - as it's winter now, and it's cold, it happens to me and my friend all the time, when we are using the phone outside. Screen off and on and it's working for another 30 seconds
yea when its cold outside mine does this as well +4C and lower. I took it apart and re seated the connectors it made little to no diff. when its warm i have no issues at all.
Could also be something on the screen itself - even a screen protector that gets damaged could cause an issue.
Also a case could cause the problem - I've had similar issues with my case/screen protector interacting with the screen.

The same thing is happening to me. I thought I was going nuts! But yes, when it's exposed to cold temperatures (35 degrees or so and lower), the screen can develop a mind of it's own. Kind of sucks in Wisconsin!

I have had this problem with the both the new Q LTE I received when the Q LTE launched, and also with the refurb unit I have received from Sprint.
Is there an explanation of the issue and a fix?
Should I swap it out at the Sprint store for another refurb?
Thanks.

Mate 9 Calibration

Has an had any issues with screen calibration? Sometimes when I click on the screen it presses to the left of it. When I'm in the recents screen for my apps, it sometimes swipes away instead of selecting it, and I'm unable to consistently unlock the phone while it is charging. (Works like once in every 5 times) however, I'm on sure if that one is related.
Anyone have any ideas?

Did you install a screen protector? Could be the reason for sensitivity issues. If not, I don't know. Maybe a factory reset Will help?

I removed the screen protector when I purchased it. I could do a factoru reset and see how it goes. Hopefully it's software related and not hardware related.
I do hope so as well then. I do have to say that the factory installed screen protector doesn't do this screen justice.

Mine had a lot of air bubbles in it so removed it right away.

Lol, no, this phone comes with a screen protector pre installed .
The touch sensitity is definitely off a little. I have to swipe the notification bar sometimes twice for it to come down. I also get some missed taps but it's infrequent enough that it isn't a problem for me. I heard they started fixing touch latency and optimization in 5.1. Don't know if we will ever see it.
If you are not using the stock charger weird things can happen.
Alrighty update: Factory settings still yields the same results. It's not frequent enough to make me go crazy, but it's still roughly the same. I guess my real pet peeve is when I need to go to the app manager to return to an open app and it just closes out. I've lost a lot of information that way like recipes when cooking and etc.
What I really don't understand is the fingerprint sensor not working while it's charging. It doesn't matter what charger I use. It just doesn't respond most of the time (Sometimes it unlocks like it's suppose to)
Im using Quick Charger from SS and I have this problem too. It's nice to know this is a common issue, not only me. I dont have any issues with fingerprint when charging, just notice when the battery between 5-60% it's insensitive for me (maybe quick charge is working strongly in this range), "insensitive" here means when you press and hold any things on the screen, it'll "tap" it and open it instead, all pressing or sliding or zooming actions are normal, just dragging has issue. When the battery is 70% and above, it becomes normal and no more insensitive touch. Just that so I think I can bear this thing.

Touch screen problem

Hi guys,
i'm having an issue with my HTC u11, basically when i'm using the phone randomly the swipe down screen (when you swipe the screen down from top to bottom to get the notifications) comes down.
For example if while i am writing a message then drop down screen will come down when i'm typing, i then have to swipe up and continue and again.
it happens more or less all the time and is quite annoying.
any ideas?
its okay, issue resolved. NOVA Setting had gesture switched on. Swipe down for notification menu, this was the issue. lol
PLease close the thread.
Thanks

Well i had the same issue. Was driving me mad! Thanks for the info.
I don't use nova and I have been experiencing this same problem so now what?
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah i though the Nova setting had solved it but it seems to be back again for me, although not as frequent.
I also experience the keyboard collapsing randomly too. Anyone get that?
Hi guys, thought nova got rid bit guess not. I still get the issue. Would this be a software issue or do I have a fault with my hardware?
Any tests I can do?
I reported my issues to HTC and they replied with the following :
To test the function of the touch screen please follow the below steps
1- Dial *#*#3424#*#* > the press accept.
2- From the options, mark Line drawing test > then press run.
3- Then start drawing on the screen to check if there are parts that do not respond
The screen does not have any dead or unresponsive spots tho and the test passes without any issues.
Does anyone experience the keyboard collapses also?
I might do a full reset soon to see if that helps any. If not i will be getting back in touch with HTC.
Did all this as well, and all the tests that I've ran pass just fine. I've also done a hard reset and it didn't make any difference. I do notice that after a soft reset that it takes a while for it to happen again. It's annoying as hell so I will be monitoring this thread. Whatever you find out from htc please update this thread so we can figure out what the hell is going on.

I also done the test and it was a pass.
I'm certain it's something to do with the software of htc. The UI has to have something wrong with it. Mind you it hasn't done it to me today yet and I'm nearly at the end of the day.
Has everyone got a case? Can't be case interference?

Exactly same issue here. Very very annoying. As a HTC fanboy I'm quite dissapointed. Phone less than 2 months old. I actually spoke to HTC today, they said they would have to book it in for a repair... Takes up-to 10 business days... I said this is not acceptable! Waiting for a email back.
I have emailed HTC back advising them that others are reporting the issue so unlikely that it's a single handset issue.
Awaiting their reply. No doubt it will be along the same lines that @dobknobby got and have to go through the 10 day repair process.
Will update when I get a reply.
I have had the same problem, and I have done the a lot of the same steps;
I tried several different screen protectors, thinking that was causing the issue. I have had no screen protector on for the last week, and yep it still happens.
Shut off edge sense, still happened.
Tested the touch screen, and everything passed.
Last night I noticed that it seemed to be related to the pressure I was putting on the screen, if I pressed down harder on the screen and slide my finger left or right or up the notification bar would come down. Did some more testing and for awhile I was able to reproduce it about 50% of the time. I rebooted the phone into safe mode (hold power button down and then press and hold the power off option for about 5 seconds it will ask if you want to reboot into safe mode). In Safe mode I could not reproduce it, Safe mode disables ALL third party apps.
WARNING: when I rebooted my phone to go back to "normal" all of my widgets and groupings were not on the screens, had to re add them.
After doing all this testing last night, I have not seen the notification come down, but like someone said it seems to get worse the longer the phone is running before reboot.
I was going to do a hard reset, today but that sounds like that may not help.
Not sure if this is software, but with the testing I did last night it seem to work fine in safe mode. However I have wondered if it is something with the screen, like is flexing enough for the sensors at the top to react to the pressure/flex.
Well keep testing and report back.
I'm also having some issues with the touch screen, but it mainly happens with the keyboard. I like to swipe to type, but lately I've noticed that it gets really jumpy, causing thing errors.
At first i thought it was touchpal so i installed Gboard. Problem still occurs.
I also removed my screen protector and tried did the touchscreen test.
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 PM ----------
I ran the line drawing test a bunch of times and yes, i now do see that mine fails to draw a continuous line on occasion. It only happens in the keyboard (squeezable?) area though.
I'm worried now that edge sense is damaging the touchscreen.
OK, i have ordered HTC u11 this morning from amazon, but i guess i will cancel my order. Had many problems with htc phones in the past. Saw many reviews and thought that this one is perfect with no flaws... Ahh..... Already ordered some accessories for my new device... It's really a shame to read this kind of threads. Hope you guys will find a solution and hope that this won't be a hardware issue.

Does your keyboard collapse when you are typing? That happens with me. Really frustrating when you are typing quite fast then the keyboard just disappears. Then you end up tapping a link or something that was behind the keyboard. You then need to go back to the page you were on and start typing all over again.
Are you running app killers? Stop boost+ auto. Apps updating from gplay can cause you to be kicked out of the keyboard, it can also pause/stop YouTube vids.
The edge sense system is 2 sensors stuck to the inside of the edge of the device, along the aluminium strips, they shouldn't interfere with the screen at any time.
Sweaty hands and greasy screen can cause the screen to misread your touches and gestures.
Running low on internal memory (sdcard) can cause all sorts of issues. Make sure you ALWAYS have a couple of Gb free.
Try to replicate the problem in test mode.

Same here, only I was told 7 to 15 business days. Offered to give c card to have a replacement shipped, but that is no longer an option with HTC.
So when I washed my M9, I was without a device for 2 days, but now that their phone is crap, it's going to be 3-4 weeks.

Realme 5 RMX1911 touch screen sometimes won't respond.

Hi! I would like to ask if this is considered normal for Realme 5 RMX1911 to randomly not respond to swipes or touches? That it needs a second touch or swipe in order for the screen to recognize your finger? I tried using the phone's built-in phone manage component check. as well as 3rd-party screen testing apps. Both don't show any issues. Single and multi-touch functions, no stuck or dead pixel detected.
I think the scratch guard on screen reduces the touch sensitivity.

My issue is somewhat similar to yours. This happens esp. when opening and using the phone after it has not been used for a while. Even when just scrolling thru the apps on the app drawer, there are times that the first swipe up/down won't respond. It requires you to do it the second time. Same thing goes for just clicking or opening an app, regardless if it's pre-installed or user-installed.

Perhaps, but reaching a Service Center is my last option, since I bought my phone online, and getting it repaired via SC would be highly inconvenient (the nearest in my area is 15 kilometers away). That is why I am asking.
Same issue
I also faced similar problems , slightly better after changing from à thick tempered glass to a thinner one. But as I plug in the earphones touch sensitivity goes berserk. Same situation is described by many on official realme forum. Solution, if found, kindly share.
Mine touch working fine...
Sometimes I face hang issue
I also have the same problem the screen some times needs two or more touches to respond, and if the 3.5 mm headphone is connected the touch gets mad it opens apps, videos or pictures during swiping.
Does it be a software problem?
