Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Last night I was using my phone happily as normal and as happens often when using a cooked ROM it hung on me. I was tired so I just hit the reset button, plugged it into the wall charger and went to sleep. This morning when I pick it up, it was quite warm to hold and wouldn't power on. If I plug it into power (both USB or wall charger) the orange light comes on for about 10 seconds and then turns off. I could get it into the boot loader screen (the four colour screen) and flash the ROM and radio no problems and without it turning off. but as soon as it restarts after installing the ROM or Radio, it shows the HTC splash screen for about 10 seconds and then turns off. I have tried doing the same with the battery taken out, but it does the same (turns off after 10 sec) and I tried (with the battery in) resetting it and then removing the power. When I do the last one, it powers off as soon as i take the cable out.
I can't think of anything else to try. It seems as soon as it starts to load the OS it powers off. Is it broken... like properly broken? did I do the wrong thing by leaving it plugged in while it restarted? Any one please help, I need my phone for work and I have no spare!
Thanks in advance,
J.
try installing official rom
tried 2 official ROMs and no luck. Same thing
looks like it is an HTC Touch Diamond2 for me then I hate money
are you flashing with sd card? if not try that method
the only way i can do that is by leaving it unplugged for 10-20 seconds then plugging it in to AC power. the orange light comes and I quickly hold camera and hit the reset button. It goes to the multi-coloured screen and flashes "no image file!" very fast, then goes to the serial mode. I am following the instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384084 I have formatted the SD card and tried 2 ROMs numerous times. Looks like it's dead
It is strange that it will only turn on when it has just been plugged into power and not at all when unplugged. When I leave it in the multi-coloured screen on the AC charger, it gets very warm very quickly... that can't be good.
Amyway I've ordered a Diamond 2 through work, so hopefully i can stick it in a draw and forget about it.
maybe try the wizard service tool. I have one with the same problem. It could be also the battery.
It's a long history.
One day, my Moto G stop charging. He charge until 1%, then turn itself on, and when it was on, it wasn't charging. I thought that was a OS/software problem, but nothing was sloving. I send to warranty and there they send me back saying that a piece was oxidated and was my fault, so they can't help me. When the cellphone arrive back, it was charging normaly. I really doesn't understand. But my PC wasn't showing the smartphone when plugged in the USB port. I started to use AirDroid.
I have a little struggle to update to Android 4.4.2 but I did it. The smartphone was really weird, but I let it go. Now I have the most annoying problem. It keep turning off by itself. I don't know if is software/OS, hardware, some app, something I'm doing wrong, but it's driving me crazy.
Please guys, help =[
P.S.: Sorry my bad english.
I had same issue where it turned off on its own and wouldn't charge. I plug cable to wall charger and held power button for 1 minute nothing happened so I kept pressing power button repeatedly until it vibrated and started charging.

So, it's charging normally now, but it keeps turning off itself. Another annoying problems is that it turn itself on when I connect it in the USB port on my PC, but not when I plug on wall charger.
Sorry for the double post, but I'm don't know what to do anymore! Please, someone help me! Any ideas!
Try this
Plug it in
Hold power button for 2-3 mins
Leave it charging for an hour then unplug
Hold power button for 30 seconds it should vibrate and boot

I guess you missing the point: I CAN charge and I CAN turn it on. The problem is that the cellphone keeps turning itself off at random. Random time, in random activites.

Hi are you able to connect the phone to a PC? If so I would transfer important data and then do a factory reset to see if that solves your issue sounds more like a software problem to me.
Already did a Factory Reset (the one in Configuration, the one the Fastboot just normally boot the device) and the problem persist.
So no one can help me? =[

does the phone fades purple then goes crazy then shuts down for a while then turns back on?
It did it when I did something different, trying to turning on or recovery, I don't really remember. I remember that I freaked out, because the screen was black, without changing, than I did a reset (Power + Volume Up) and then it reseted.
You already try charging with wall charger? Maybe your PC don't have enough power to recharge this phone
I was able to charge the phone, Anyway, the device stopped to turning off alone. By itself. I didn't do anything different.
I'm so confused.
Something is shorting out inside, probably due to the said oxidation, which will most likely result in such behavior.
If you know how to do it, just open the phone, take the pcb out and clean it well with a dry contract cleaner and a hard toothbrush to remove any oxidation and possible residue.
Later I was thinking that could be it. So if anything goes wrong, I'll do it or ask to someone with a little more experience to do for me.
Thanks.

Some Moto G's do turn themselves ON when you plug in a charger, I have 2 and both do it - you connect the phone when it is turned OFF and then it turns itself on! Sometimes if I plug in the charger and turn OFF the phone quickly it stays off.
It's a bug / feature / quirk but it's unfortunately normal so you can discount that as being a problem related to your other problem.

I'm having this exact problem too. The phone is less than a month old. Twice this week its happened. Phone was close to fully charged on going to bed, I still checked some emails while it was plugged in.. the charging symbol was also on, so I know it was charging ok when I put it down... then in the morning, wake up, phone is off, but the battery display is showing 100% (The big one shown on screen when it is turned off)
Potentially if I was only using my phone as an alarm, I'd have not woken up. I always use a backup, but now this Moto G worries me!
Seems a few people are having this issue!
So this morning i unplugged my phone, fully charged, and used a flashlight app. Then all of the sudden my phone just went black and i have not been able to get it to do anything for over an hour and a half now. No matter what i do it will not turn on. Ive tried to power button/rockers combo to get it to turn on, nothing, Ive tried the little button in the sd card compartment, nothing.... Anyone else have this issue? I cannot find anything on the Z3 for this, only stuff for the older models... Thanks.
Hold volume up and power button until the phone vibrates. Then connect a USB cable to your computer while holding volume down on the phone. If the phone is recognised by the pc you should be able to flash your phone using flash tool and hopefully that will get you back up and running. That's the only solution I can think of. Maybe some other members might be able to help if this don't work.

I can't help then mate other than suggesting taking it back to where you got it from or sending it to Sony. Hopefully somebody else can help you out to save you the hassle

Hello, my girlfriend have the same problem in his Xperia Z3. When she works his phone lying on the desk. She want call to me and the power/lock button don't work. She call to me from other mobile phone and she describe problem. After 10 seconds search in google I find a way to restart phone. She pressed little yellow switch under nano Sim/micro SD plug. Phone power down and never give up. Power button is dead, combinations : vol+ and power , vol- and power, vol+ and vol- and power also didn't work. When I plug the USB cable the charging will start normally. In screen I have a big battery icon with animation.
Maybe someone have similar problem with Z3 and know a solution??
Well if its the button, tap to wake could solve the problem till you decide to get it repaired.
It could also be a battery issue. Try charging for a few hours on a charger and then try turning on after connecting to a PC with phone drivers by holding the power button for like 10secs. That is the method used for HTC phones with similar issues.
The HTC One X had battery issues for some where it would not turn on until it was connected to thr charger for a few hours. I had, had the same issue you mentioned and tried the method mentioned above but never turned on. Repair shop tested the battery and eventually had to replace a bad mothetboard.
That is not normal and even if you could get it back from that sort of failure, you don't want this device unless it is fixed or replaced.

Still nothing. Power/unlock button is dead. Today I go to sell point (T-mobile Poland ) and leave for warranty repair. I used Xperia Z3 for 2 weeks
If you are within 14 days TMO should give you a brand new device.
I'm having the same problem too. I tried to use the flashlight app for the first time and it just completely bricked my Z3.

Just happened to me today- Xperia Z3 Compact
So last night, i left my phone to charge after reaching 5%. When I woke up, my phone won't start and it won't charge either. The LED indicator was not lighting when it is plugged.
I tried every trick:
1. Pressed down the power button in different lengths.
2. No. 1 but with the volume down key
3. Pressed down the yellow button on the sim card tray
4. Tested 5 different charger heads and different wires
5. Tried connecting to 2 different laptops to see if my phone will be recognized
I work close by a Sony Center so I was planning on passing by after work. I was already having a really bad day and my phone is not under warranty. Throughout the morning, I'd randomly check the power button if it will finally work. FORTUNATELY, during lunch, the LED indicator finally lit up! The batt was drained so I had to charge it and wait a few minutes before turning it on. Finally it's on. I don't know what the eff happened or if it is really resolved.
I'd still want to know what the hell is wrong with Xperia Z phones??
Mines 'died' twice, both times the only way I could get it to turn back on was to connect to magnetic charger dock/cable
this is really works on me.. !!! try this one.....

just do the no .3 ... and it works to me... thank u for posting this .. it helps me a lot.......
It's called the 'sudden death' bug and a small number of sony xperia phones die from it., including the Z3. It is more common in the Z3 Compact (I suffered from it and had to get it replaced). Just google sony Z3 sudden death.
Did the OP use a quick charger on his Z3? The reason I ask is that the repairer I sent my Z3C to originally said the motherboard was gone and needed to be replaced, possibly cased by current. I used to use a quick charger on my Z3C and wonder if it caused it as the phone worked perfectly for 6 weeks before dying.
There are several so called fixes and workarounds that work for some people, not all. Only a motherboard replacement fixes it properly.
Fix for Z3 not powering up / no charge LED
My Z3 would not power up and no charge LED when cable plugged in. Finally found this solution on Sonymobile support website which fixed my phone!
To force the device to restart
Detach the SIM card slot cover.
Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold down the small OFF button (generally indicated by the text "OFF") until the device has emitted three vibrations, and then release the OFF button. The device turns off automatically.
Charge the device until a charging icon appears on the screen.
Turn on your Xperia™ device.
If a forced restart procedure as described above doesn't succeed in turning on your device, you should try another kind of forced restart - the 2-minute restart procedure.
To force a 2-minute restart
Detach the SIM card slot cover.
Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold down the small OFF button (generally indicated by the text "OFF") for 120 seconds (ignoring any vibrations), and then release the OFF button.
Charge the device until a charging icon appears on the screen.
Turn on your Xperia™ device.
I had to hold the 'off' button for about 60 seconds before the phone vibrated and sprung into life - phew!
I bought mine with the broken screen so I don't know for sure what happened. Bid won for $37
The led light came on when plugged in, but no vibrations. The computer recognized it and installed as the D6633. Properties show the battery had charged to 29%, 60%, 99%.
But clicking into it just shows a blank page. No folders, drive volumes, or anything.
However if it is not hooked up to a charger or computer then as well as no vibration there is no lights either. Does get a little warm though.
Bought the new display and powerflex. Still wont turn on, no vibrations, and only shows led when plugged in.
Tried the volume up, down, power, all three, reset button in sim tray.
PC Companion can't work with it. It almost worked once but said if there was a google account and I did not have the info I would be facing the whole account lock fiasco....No thank you. Can't even get it to recognize it for that option properly anymore anyway.
Could easily connect it into fastboot mode, but getting it into flash mode took much much much more effort. But eventually I did and flashed an image with flash tool. Went fine. Flashed everything......NO CHANGE......
I'm guessing at this point maybe the board was more damaged than seems....Though it's weird how the computer recognizes it and can flash everything.
Or there is a damaged power IC, transistor, capacitor, or something.
I really hope Sony took care of this in the Z5 and it is no longer an issue in future devices. It was said in a few comments above that only a few people are affected....Yet there are endless searches and pages with a dramatic number of users facing it.

Does your pc detect anything when you plug usb cable ?
Yes, it detects, but then disconnects, can it be a problem in the battery?
Chances are you have received a refurbished device or defective battery.
Try and find another Mi4 user for trial of the battery or let's see you need to contact the vendor soon.

Charge via wall adapter. Leave it for some time.
PS: When your battery reaches 9-10%, it is advisable to charge it back to 100%.
Hi,
Im having the same problem, Red LED when charging, nothing else on screen, cannot switch on, its not even detected when connected to pc.

I just got this issue 10min ago. Havn't depleted the battery on the phone for a very long time, my guess is that it hasn't calibrated the battery in a while or something like that. Will keep it in the fast charger during the night and then i'll reply here.
EDIT: Normally the red LED is constantly on when the battery is low and it's in the charger, now it's flashing which makes it look a bit more scary.
EDIT2: Works fine now after a night of charging
Charger could be not pushing enough voltage to charge battery. Try another one to see if it remedies the issue.
I do have the same problem with my Mi4. I wanted to start the update in the Updater app (to Android 6 version of Xiaomi.eu) and suddenly it turned off (at 100% battery). When I connect my phone with my computer it is recognized and all the partitions are mounted. And with all I mean all. There are about 7 partitions mounted (Linux and Windows) and they keep being mounted until I disconnect the phone. I let my Mi4 on the wall charger for 24 hours (2A Samsung one which charges all my other devices without any problems) but I still have the blinking red light after connecting it to the charger. Any other things I can do to get it running again?
EDIT: I can't see the phone in fastboot or adb and when I keep the power button pressed for about 10s it seems to disconnect and instantly reconnect the phone.

I solved this problem on my own. Even though the phone doesn't show up on the fastboot devices list you can use the Mi Flash Tool to flash the fastboot update (http://xiaomiadvices.com/miui-7-flash-fastboot-rom-on-xiaomi-phones-using-mi-flash-tool/). The drivers installed with the Mi Flash Tool for the Windows 10 Mobile Release (http://en.miui.com/thread-189369-1-1.html) recognize all the partitions as one device and show it with a cryptical name in the flash list.
Hi ! I fully charged the phone and after it shuted down. It doesn't starts. PC doesn't see it. When I'm plugin the wire just half way into the phone the red light stays on for a few seconds and than nothing at all. Can anyone help me?
Push power+vol up for quite enough lets say 20 sec
same problem here i kept charging for whole night but phone not getting on.. only red LED comes when kept for charging and not detected in PC also. Can any 1 help on this
I had the same problem ( strangely,it occured after a whole night charging, f... knows what happened)
Tried to change charger. No luck. The phone won't even boot by pushing Vol down+ Power
Solution: I simply connected the phone to a portable external charger, and tadaaaa !!! it was brought back to life !
Hope this helps
Hello guys,
Here is the problem in a nutshell. Rogers Nexus 5, unmodified. Stock ROM. Working 100% normal until yesterday. No kind of water or physical damage at all. Just died. Does not power on. Nothing shows on display. Does not charge. Totally unresponsive.
The only response I get is that when plugged into the wall charge and power button is held long, it vibrates every 7 seconds. If unplugged, no vibration whatsoever. Also when plugged into the PC, it is detected by Windows but only as portable media player which is completely empty when double clicked.
Do I simply need a new battery? I am baffled. Please help!
When you connect the phone to a wall charger, does the led blink red or us there nothing?
Absolutely nothing happens. No LED light, no Google logo on display, nothing.
It may be a dead or defective battery. Only way to really trouble shoot would be to replace the battery to see if that solves the problem.
Taking the phone apart is quite easy.
I replaced the battery but still nothing. It only vibrates when power button is pressed long.
No other response, LED or display whatsoever.
The phone was never modified or damaged in anyway. Please help!
To help diagnose the problem, having another Nexus 5 would help a great deal. If you swap your motherboard into a working phone and things work as normal after the swap, you know it is not the motherboard that is bad.
