Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Last night I was using my phone happily as normal and as happens often when using a cooked ROM it hung on me. I was tired so I just hit the reset button, plugged it into the wall charger and went to sleep. This morning when I pick it up, it was quite warm to hold and wouldn't power on. If I plug it into power (both USB or wall charger) the orange light comes on for about 10 seconds and then turns off. I could get it into the boot loader screen (the four colour screen) and flash the ROM and radio no problems and without it turning off. but as soon as it restarts after installing the ROM or Radio, it shows the HTC splash screen for about 10 seconds and then turns off. I have tried doing the same with the battery taken out, but it does the same (turns off after 10 sec) and I tried (with the battery in) resetting it and then removing the power. When I do the last one, it powers off as soon as i take the cable out.
I can't think of anything else to try. It seems as soon as it starts to load the OS it powers off. Is it broken... like properly broken? did I do the wrong thing by leaving it plugged in while it restarted? Any one please help, I need my phone for work and I have no spare!
Thanks in advance,
J.
try installing official rom
tried 2 official ROMs and no luck. Same thing
looks like it is an HTC Touch Diamond2 for me then I hate money
are you flashing with sd card? if not try that method
the only way i can do that is by leaving it unplugged for 10-20 seconds then plugging it in to AC power. the orange light comes and I quickly hold camera and hit the reset button. It goes to the multi-coloured screen and flashes "no image file!" very fast, then goes to the serial mode. I am following the instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384084 I have formatted the SD card and tried 2 ROMs numerous times. Looks like it's dead
It is strange that it will only turn on when it has just been plugged into power and not at all when unplugged. When I leave it in the multi-coloured screen on the AC charger, it gets very warm very quickly... that can't be good.
Amyway I've ordered a Diamond 2 through work, so hopefully i can stick it in a draw and forget about it.
maybe try the wizard service tool. I have one with the same problem. It could be also the battery.

Today I noticed, while having my phone in a pocket, that it vibrates. Thought it was an sms or something but after I pulled it out, the screen was black. And kept on restarting itself in like 10 second intervals. Then the screen got stuck black with backlight on. Now I cannot power it on. It does it by itself randomly. No way to enter bootloader. After pressing hard buttons I randomly get a vibration feedback. Tried 2 different batteries. If I plug the charger in, no light comes up. After maybe 20 minutes on charger it gets warm (not where the battery is but above where the radio is).
Anyone ever seen this before? Any ideas would be more than greatly appreciated!!!!

Try this,
Turn off phone, push volume down and plug in the usb cable to your computer, don't turn it on, if the hardware is ok, tricolor should appear.

Thanx for the tip. My phone, however, resurrected by itself in the middle of night after it did hard reset by itself. So I used raphdiag and reloaded new rom. Hope to never see this again!
So today, as i was on my way to work I accidentally held down the lockscreen button and the power menu popped up (I was on Glorious Overdoes V2) in the middle of a text and i pressed reboot accidentally... My phone never rebooted... It was stuck on the black Sidekick 4G/T-Mobile screen and then it would go black, then once again that screen would pop up... I removed the battery and put it back in, and without me pressing any buttons the same screen came back up... I let it sit for a while and after 20minutes nothing changed except the phone got really hot. Luckily I had my OLD Nokia in my car and popped my SIM card in it so that i could continue having a phone. I let The Sidekick sit for 4hours and it was extremely hot and then eventually it just turned off completely (Im assuming the battery drained, it was at 90% 4 hours before.) I got home, plugged it in and it wouldn't even turn on the charging screen. Somebody told me that my Motherboard is fried but I don't know. I called T-mobile and they're going to send me a new phone since it's still in the 1-year warranty period.
Anyone know if they're going to be able to inspect my old device and find out if i rooted/flashed it? because i can't get into it or anything to ODIN
I feel like they will try putting a new battery in it, and if it still wont turn on you should be fine.
It got hot because the CPU was churning over something and couldn't enter a low power state. I bet you could coax the phone into download mode and reflash it.
what do you mean coax the phone into download mode? by using the button combo to get it into download mode when turning on? I've tried that and it doesn't work. I tried rebooting into recovery and that wont work either. Also, it wont charge the battery anymore...
I've always had a hard time getting into download mode, and my phone works fine. I just spent 5 minutes trying different combinations until I got it.
I've heard people say trackpad-power button, volume down-home-power button, volume up/down-put battery in-plug in USB, etc etc etc. But the only method that works for me is to put in the battery, plug in the USB, wait for the charging screen, then hold volume down-trackpad-power, releasing power as soon as the screen goes black
You say your phone is turning on as soon as the battery is inserted? What if you have it plugged into USB first?
I had the exact same problem, I sent it into samsung and they just replaced a part(never told me which one) and it was fixed. I did noticed that when the sccreen was poped open to show the keyboard, it would stop. But it's probably a loose cable like I've read before.

Worst case scenario if you can't figure it out here on XDA, you could always sell it on eBay for parts as defective.
T-Mobile Sensation 4G. rooted, ICS (not exactly sure which version, likely custom)
I had a cracked screen, replaced it, ran into laggy screen problem but seemed to manage it for past few weeks.
Last night, battery ran out of juice. When I realized that, the screen is black but the bottom buttons r all lighted up in white. couldn't turn it off with the power button so I took the battery out. since then, pressing the power button will give me a phone that vibrates ONCE every 5-6 seconds. Nothing can change that state except taking out the battery.
I got home. plugging the phone into a desk charger (anker dock) and it starts giving me red light for a couple of seconds then darkness for 20sec then red light for 2s then darkness. plugging to the PC does the same thing.
I happen to have an extra battery (this seems to be the original one from HTC but kinda old). With this battery in, phone will only give me the black screen and vibrates and it will heats up a little bit when cable is plugged in.
I also check the voltage of both battery. original one (old from htc) gives 4.4v and aftermarket one (bought on ebay) gives 3.9v.
Vol.down + power button doesn't do anything. Computer won't recognize phone
Can any one please give me a hint of what's going on?
I also have this issue. Running CM9 Nightly 8-16. My battery was charging slowly, then the next day it was dead even though it was on charge overnight. I swapped batteries with another sensation ( I have 3 on my account ) and all I get is what the OP said. HELP PLEASE
Lol been way too long that I posted this. I ended up contacting HTC and they verified that I was still under warranty and fixed it for me. They even switch out the replacement screen and put in the original from htc-tmobile.
I plugged my phone in last night and when I woke up today it was off. I pulled out the charging cord and held the power button with no effect. Thinking the cord may have slipped partly out and let the phone die, I plugged it back in and was greeted by the battery charging screen, showing full charge. I pressed the power button and the phone went black. On further investigation, it seems my press of the power button didn't have to do with it turning off, as whenever I plug it in it shows the full battery screen for a couple of seconds before turning off again. If I unplug it and plug it back in it just repeats this. I've reseated the battery, I've tried holding volume down and the power button, and nothing's changed the phone's behavior. The phone is completely stock, and never opened beyond the battery and card doors.
It's pretty old and I'm pretty sure I do have an upgrade available, so I'm not too upset if I have to buy a new phone, but I'd like to confirm that it is FUBAR before I go that far, and I'd like to be able to extract my data if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have access to another battery, you could try that, but since you're seeing the full battery symbol I'm guessing that that's not the issue. You can always recover your sdcard data by putting it in a card reader, but the phone's apps, app data, and settings may be more difficult.
Well, turns out the problem was much less serious than I thought: my charging cord has bitten the dust. I'm not sure why I've been seeing the full battery, but when I took it to the AT&T store, the person who helped me plugged it in and it started right up. I just need to get a cable that's not my years-old piece of crap that came with the phone.
Battery dead, not charging, stuck on "low battery screen", bootloops with forceboot
Hello people, this is my very first post on xda, even though I've been lurking around for about a year. The community has helped me a lot, I'd like to thank you all for that.
Back on topic though! My error seems to be very similar to the one here.
I was watching some YouTube, battery sitting on a respectable 85%, when it suddenly shut off. Not the usual "shutting down for low battery" kind of shutting down, it was istantaneous, more like the battery was unplugged from the phone. Which is clearly impossible. I tried to boot it using the power button to no avail. I connected it to the charger, and the "the battery is too low" screen popped up. I left it at that for about 45 minutes, then unplugged from the charger and tried to boot. No success. The battery didn't even charge; the charger should be is fully working.
So I tried leaving it plugged to the charger and force boot the phone via volume down and power button; it attempted to boot, but stopped midway through, bootlooping until I unplug it, at that point it shuts off again.
The loop goes like this: OnePlus white logo (normal when you boot), radioactive kernel loading, reboot and repeat. That happens, again, until I unplug it from the charger. Then it shuts off.
EDIT: If I try to get into bootloader instead (volume up + power), after about 8 seconds of me pressing the buttons the screen just shuts off and doesn't react to any more presses (even while plugged). If I unplug and replug it to the charger, I'm back to square one (low battery, please charge).
PC doesn't recognize it. It makes the "the battery is low" screen pop up, but nothing else.
Here's some phone information in case you need them.
Phone info:
Rom: NucleaRom 1.3 (+ Radioactive kernel which comes with it) got it from here
Xposed modules: Youtube Background Playback, AdAway
Root: Yes
Thanks in advance everyone.
I doubt it would be software related if it does it even when in bootloader. It could be the problem I had with my nexus 7 a few times. I needed to charge it like all day for it to even turn on. Either that or faulty phone/bad battery. I hope it's just dead

Hello there, thanks for taking the time to reply. Yesterday I worked all day to try and make sense of the problem. I could have just bought another phone but I'm fairly attached to this one so I went deep.
I was fairly sure (like you) that it couldn't be a software problem, so I looked at the logic board of the phone; turns out (correct my poor technical wording) the bracket (connector?) for the battery on the logic board was coming off from the motherboard itself (the battery was indeed attached to the bracket, the bracket was just coming off of the board). What I did was just reposition the bracket and pushed it down with a bit of force on the board, then replugged the battery in the newly restored battery plug, and tried my luck. It booted! Back at its original 75%-ish.
My only guess would be that due to a fall the bracket got misplaced, but stayed close enough for it to still make contact and never actually shut down, until yesterday. That was... Quite an interesting ride.
Thanks for replying, it was indeed a "faulty phone", but I just couldn't leave it at that without trying
I'm glad it worked out for ya
Not work at all ...
