inexplicable and random network losses - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Moto G XT1039 (Peregrine) was running perfectly on CM 12.1 since July 2015. But two weeks ago it lost network access. This happened without any update or change on the phone. I tried the basic settings : reboot, toggle airplane mode, re-insert sim card... without any success.
Then I followed this thread to take it back to stock : still no network. After that I installed CM13 with this thread : network is back !
But after two days it lost network again. This time I swapped my sim card with another one : ok, problem solved.
For a few days only ! I then fastboot flashed this radio firmware : great, network is back !
And gone again... And now after flashing stock again, CM13 again, radio firmware again, it doesn't connect at all. Except from that everything works, including bluetooth, wifi and gps. The sim card is new and working in other phones. The exact error is : "Error while searching for networks" when I go to Settings | Mobile networks | Network operators.
I'm completely lost and I can't figure what is the root cause of all this. What do you suggest ? Is there a low level log file somewhere on the phone, in which I could find an error like "unable to start radio because XXX" ?
Thanks !

I installed CM13 once again using TWRP. And it's been running fine for the last 3 weeks ! I will never understand what the problem was...
It only loose network for a few seconds from time to time, but this may be normal.

The same problem occured again.
But now I'm sure it's related to the phone and hundreds of people have the same problem. There is a 96 pages topic on official motorola / lenovo support forum about it.
I can't link it here but it's the first result if you type "Post KitKat upgrade BUGs (Loss of signal etc)" in google.

Help ! Persistent call connect problem & incomplete file copy/move issue in XT1033
I am facing network issues on my dual sim moto g (xt1033) almost since I bought i.e even when my device was on jellybean & now when I am on KitKat.
The issues I face are:
i. People are unable to reach my number/contact me almost 90-95% of the time. They tell me u were unreachable.
ii. Sometimes when they call, my phone rings for 3-4 times(only hearable to me) but the caller didn't hear any sound of the call getting placed/connected and phone ringing.
iii. while browsing data(both 2g/3g), network frequently drops. it doesn't show that it dropped. I get to know when the respective app shows that you have an internet connection failure (for e.g facebook)
Things I have tried to resolve but failed:
i. Flashed revolution g v3 brazilian stock rom and reflashed indian radio/baseband to overwrite it. got both sims working but "call connect" issue did not go.
ii.Swapped sims on both the slots. I use a BSNL 3g sim & an airtel 2g one. I noticed after swapping/may be restarting calls getting connected a bit sooner/proper than they did before. but a day after again same issue & it just doesn't seem to go.
Can anybody please tell what can be done to resolve this? Is this a hardware/software issue ? I get it irrespective of data switched on/off.
If everything fails I have no option but to convert my asian dual sim moto g into a european single sim xt 1032 as explained here http://forum.technofaq.org/discussion/53/moto-g-xt1033-turn-your-xt1033-dual-sim-into-an-xt1032-single-sim/p1 Since it's system version is 174.44.9, I believe it contains the network fix.
My current device stats:
Bootloader unlocked, rooted, stock indian firmware with philz cwm recovery
system version : 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Build number : KXB20.25-1.31
Use 2 sims with both active
Update: Jun 1 2014
Have relocked the bootloader & downgraded to jellybean, still face the network issue
Facing a copy/move issue these days
After selecting all the files in the phone explorer (mtp mode) & trying to copy them to my win8.1 notebook the process automatically terminates/window vanishes midway. There's no error/warning thrown but all files do not get copied. I have tried to do the same thing but failed everytime. I tried to copy 6GB of files/folders. Everytime only 4GB gets copied & remaining(some folders with data) left out. why is this happening ? is this because they are being copied in mtp mode ?

Try cm11. It supports dual sim and dual standby. Your problem may be solved. I am on cm11 and it works fine with my Indian moto g

Since you've already unlocked the bootloader, try CM11 or any other ROMS. Let me know how it works out. I'm facing the same issue but don't want to unlock bootloader as I might not be able to return it.

@rajibie & @major9 Thank You for taking the time to reply. The first thing I did after unlocking the bootloader & rooting was install CM snapshot m5 . But unfortunately I wasn't able to hear the person on the other end clear enough. sound was too low. Therefore I returned to stock rom.

Motorola post on Facebook:
Dear # MotoG customers, we’ve uncovered an activation
problem with some #MotoG devices sold in India as they
have been shipped with IMEI numbers that are not yet
registered with carriers. If you have recently purchased a
Moto G and have network connectivity problems this may
apply to you. This is due to a programming error from our
end and we owe you a big apology!
We are working around the clock to resolve this. If you are
impacted, we've sent you an email via Flipkart to explain
everything and what we're doing to make it right.

Motorola is saying your device may be affected if the IMEI number starts with 3533, and that if that is the case they will credit Rs 1200 to your Flipkart wallet. Please see this post for the full email: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53070397&postcount=11

Moto G X1039 stuck in radio off

So... without too much boring stuff:
MOTO G X1039 - SW state : Lollipop 5.1 via OTA update - not locked on any carrier or bought with any plan
SIM card dies (no signal) - test the simcard on another phone to confirm and it did die.
After going and swapping the sim with a new one still no signal ; test the new sim in another phone - working.
Looking into settings i see it fails instantly when i try to manually select a carrier.
Things i have tried so far:
-fiddling with network type (lte,2g,3g) and rebooting
-factory recovery (lollipop)
-unlock bootloader
-restore to Kitkat 4.4.4
-removing the battery
-different sims from operators
what i did find is some very puzzling info from factory mode and phone status
Sorry but im not allowed to post links so if you want to help pls add dot before org and check in browser
without sim:
postimgorg/image/komcalo5d/
after sim insert
postimgorg/image/qrzqi6nel/
postimgorg/image/5ejutqxwn/
postimgorg/image/dzd6kx82v/
postimgorg/image/dd6kmcvoz/
So as you can see - the SIM slot is working and detecting the smi but the radio seems to be stuck in OFF state - pushing the turn on button does nothing.
i have searched far and long and found no "identical" problems or other info beside the idea that thers a radio-off function (S-radio ? ) in bootloader or something ?
Anyone got any clue whats going on with this damn moto or what else to try ?
Thank you.
bump this post since I've got exact same problem. and seem no solid solution found.
Anyone get to the bottom of this as I have two with this problem after trying to install stock ROM's back onto them?

Did you tried clean flash COS12.1 or Color OS.
This usually happens due to incompatible Modem with the firmware, bootloader combination.
I also experienced similar issue sometime back using Sultan's build, which is my primary OS right now.
check this post out and the thread.

Well I did the full stock rom to cos 11 updating it until the final incremental cos 13 but no success , never tried color Os I will look! any Rom in specific ?!
Try flashing latest CyanogenOS using fastboot:
https://cyngn.com/support
And if needed modems separately.
All the best!!
I had the same issue a few months ago with CM13 builds. My TWRP recovery was the problem. Try updaing it to the newest version.
dl.twrp.me/bacon/
i had a similar problem after OTA update to CM13.1. So upset I just waited a few days to calm down then went on here and found how someone said sim issues sometimes just need a new sim card. so i went down to my carrier metropcs and they put in a sim adapter for one thing my sim was nano and needed to be made to fit opo micro slot. then they did a refresh and it was good as if it never happened. cost me 15 bucks but worth it compared to what i thought i was up against.

Weird Connection Issue - Two AT&T Connections

I'm having a super weird issue with my OPO. No matter what I do (install different OS, flash new modem, complete wipe including formatting drives to a different format type) I keep getting two AT&T connections on my phone. *Can't post image due to post restrictions*
I am using a WIND sim from Canada with roaming in the US. I used to be able to connect to my choice of either AT&T or Tmobile. Now when I try and connect to one of those carriers, it flashes registered on network but then does not change what network it is registered on. I've tried disconnecting from the network and then trying to connect. Nothing! The only network it will let me connect to is that weird extra AT&T network, and all call through it have no caller ID, just says call from AT&T.
Any ideas of what this could be would really help me out. I'm all out of ideas
Update - After uninstalling and re-installing everything I could think of, I am now running on CM11. If I update through OTA to CM13 the problem returns.
Update 2 - In case anyone else encounters this issue, after a whole lot of work, including softbricking my phone, I managed to get it working. You must install TWRP Materialized and install the 44S baseband. No other recovery will work, must be Materialized. After I installed the 44S baseband I updated to Omnirom 6.0 and everything is working great!

Lost 4G(LTE) connectivity after latest official update

Hello guys,
I am losing my mind here so I kindly ask for help. I aint no expert in flashing roms or anything, I have a stock Redmi 6 and yesterday I got a pop up about updating my phone. I selected yes and my nightmare begins.
Since then, I cant get the phone to connect via mobile network. I cant get any connectivity of any type using mobile data.
The phone is a Redmi 6, android version is 8.1.0 O11019 and rom is MIUI Global 10.2 Stable 10.2.3.0 (OCGMIXM).
Please help the noob get his phone back, I am about to throw it away
There is an update miui_HM6Global_V10.2.4.0.OCGMIXM_f662ddbe15_8.1.zip
http://ru.miui.com/thread-24171-1-1.html
thanks for your reply, updating to 10.2.4.0.OCGMIXM didnt resolve the issue.
Still no 4G.
Any other ideas? Please I am desperate
Head to" about phone" (in settings ) tap " internal storage " multiple times to enter phone info
Then head over to change network settings to LTE only or enable one with LTE as a possible option if you've disabled it by mistake
Also check which slot your sim is in ...
May not work if sim is in secondary slot and 4g is disabled for it
Let me know if it worked !
Cheers !
Thank you for your reply my friend.
I have tried all these things, they were the obvious ones, so I went with them first. Nothing works, phone is unable to connect to 4G. I have flashed multiple times in case it was a bad flash, I even downgraded to a Developers Rom, but nothing works.
Funniest thing of all, I contacted Xiaomi UK customer services today, and after trying various *# codes, and the guy asking me to turn the phone off and then on again, he ended up saying that I need to wait for the next update.
It is insane
