Anyone interested about this? I chose the mi4c simply for the snapdragon and i was very tempted by the fingerprint scanner.
Whats your opinion, would you chose this over the mi4c?
well, the cons compared to mi4c: 1. 5.0 lollipop vs 5.1 llp on mi4c 2. many people still prefer 5" devices and the mi4c is a lot smaller and lighter 3. mi4c supports proper fast charging with variable voltage 4. mi4c screen has superior contrast (1700:1 vs 950:1 on the redmi note 3 pro). pros compared to mi4c: 1. more screen real estate 2. better build quality, more of a looker, too 3. fingerprint sensor 4. better battery backup, although it should charge real slow 5. s650 is more or less on the same level of performance with the s808 (maybe a 5% difference in favor of the 650) 6. i still don't know about the camera, mi4c has a 1/3" 13mp, wide angle, f/2.0 sony imx258 sensor with phase detection af vs redmi note 3 pro with a 16mp f/2.0 pdaf, but we still don't know if it's a. a samsung isocell s5k2pxx 1/2.6" sensor (like the one on the s5) b. a sony imx234 1/2.6" (g4 etc) c. a sony imx298 1/2.8" (mate 8 etc) so it should perform either equally or better compared to mi4c 7. it's going to be cheaper than the mi4c !
i would buy the one with unlocked bootloader....
offtopic but may i ask why is there no thread section about redmi note 3 here in xda?

Seems like a nice phone, but the SoC is a littel outdated if you ask me, and the size of the phone is too big...
But for the price, it seems like a very good buy!

Outdated SoC? Snapdragon 650 isn't even in any phone you can buy right now (as far as I know) and yet it's outdated?

Sorry, I read it as SD 615.
It still is a good phone, even better now . No doubt. The screen is just too big for me.
I hate it. The SoC is better (BIG cluster uses A72 instead of A57), the GPU is better (proven by higher AnTuTu score), the rear camera resolution is bigger, the battery is bigger, the screen is bigger, full metal unibody, yet cheaper price. Damn you, xiaomi...

Chill down, bro. I own the Cubot X6 and the Galaxy S4.
For sure, in many parts the S4 is better. But the S4 has the higher prices and the higher specs. The processor is a better one, it has 1 gb of RAM more, it has a 1080P Display and not 720.
The X6 has slightly better battery life than the S4. The S4 has 400 mAh of battery more, but the X6 has just a 720p Display and it just uses the juice well. I can use the Phone 2 days without charging, The s4 max. 1.5.
The camera is way better on the S4. Boy, megapixel don't say much about the quality of a picture. The only reason why the manufactores always use cameras with more megapixels is, because it sounds like they are using a better Camera. A friend of mine has bought a great Canon Cammera. Around 400€. The Camera of the Nokia phone of a friend of mine has more megapixels. So the Nokia Cam is better? Oh god no, way behind.
That was just about the megapixels. The Cam of the X6 is well enough, if you sometimes take a shoot, but if you want a phone, that does high quality picutes, this is nothing for you.
So the X6 is not as good as the S4. Is it a bad phone? Hell no! I'm quite sure you can't get these specs cheeper. It's damn cheap for the specs, it's fast as hell and it's really really fun. If you don't want the best device aviable, the X6 is propably more than enough for you.

In addition , I can say that the(the price of the CUBOT X6)/ (its value ) ratio is much bigger than (the price of the S4) / (its value).
Hi,
I'm curretnly on the xcover 2 and I thinking to buy one of these devices (Xiaomi Mi4C, OnePlus X).
I create list of pros and cons for these two devices:
OnePlus X
Pros:
+Design and build quality
+oxygen OS with updates
+LTE support
+AMOLED display
+8 MP front camera
+Micro SD support
+Big Custom rom support coming
+Corning Gorilla Glass 3
Cons:
-SD 801 (but still good processor)(MSM8974PRO-AA)
-No ac and 5Ghz Wifi
-No NFC
-No IR blaster
-No USB Type-C
-Small battery
-No front buttons backlights
-Slippery
-SD card problem //fixed
MI 4C
Pros:
+Buttons backlights
+Type C
+SD 808
+IR blaster
+Wifi ac
+Big battery (but still battery life isn't that great)
+ Very good 13MP camera
Cons:
-No MicroSD (but 32GB must be enough)
-LTE Band 20 (800) missing
-bluish screen (7,844 K) (please, owners report) //PhoneArena
-Source is not published (if it will ever)
-Updates?
-"feel that the phone always takes a few milliseconds too long to respond to our touch." //PhoneArena //Fixed
-One Glass Solution (if it break you can make say goodbye to touchscreens)
What do you think?
Thanks!
If I'm right also oneplus x lacks in 800 Mhz LTE band
Inviato dal mio Mi-4c utilizzando Tapatalk
No. Oneplus x for eu include band 20. Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_x-7630.php
I was thinking of getting the opx for a family member but I think the mi4c is better due to what you mentioned, bigger battery, Wi-Fi ac, USB C, ir blaster which is a bonus and the soc. Camera is very good and fast. Maybe wait for opx review with camera samples.
Custom roms may be slow but there is a cm12.1 rom which is a daily driver except a few minor bugs.
Touch problem was only there on the first ROM. All roms after that had no problems with it. We get weekly updates aswell but probably won't get official marshmallow soon (custom rom, 99% sure though), so you're pretty much set on the software part. I'd say the screen is very good, it has high contrast rates and looks very bright. You can control the saturation etc. so blue (cold) and warm colors is probably what they are reporting.
The advantage to OPX I'd see is band 20, it looks a bit better (just my opinion, but build quality is solid on both), has AMOLED and it has MicroSD.
I already have mi 4c and its better than even one plus two
One plus x is average phone.
Sent from my Mi-4c using Tapatalk
I'm torn on this too, in fact I just got an invite for the X today.
For me it's 4G band 20 and micro SD card support vs better battery life (for me on CM12.1 at least) and faster WiFi speeds.
I might get an X anyway and use as my DD for a few weeks
OnePlus X. It's a lot easier to maintain / modify
I got my invite today so just sitting on the website waiting for the Buy Now button to appear.

Apparently xiaomi release source a few months later? When it does, it will be the better phone.
I'd wait for camera samples so that way youll have an all rounder phone

If you get Mi4c, there is no competition, Mi4c is superior in areas that really matters:
1. Performance: Snapdragon 801 vs 808.
- This is the heart of your phone, it determine the snappiness, performance and even power consumption of your phone.
- 808 has big.LITTLE. During idle, your SOC will use very little power because only the "little cores" are running. It safes battery. When you need performance, the A57 cores high performance will start.
- Snapdragon 808's Cortext A57 is one generation ahead of the 801's Krait 400.
- 808 is 64 bit. Simply recompiling an App with 64 bit gcc gain up to a few % performance. Free.
- Adreno 418 vs 330
- 20nm vs 28nm technology. Lower nm mean more efficient; lower power consumption and/or higher performance
- This alone should be reason enough to get Mi4c.. why still chose old SOC???
2. Battery
- 3080mAh vs 2525 mAh
- That's 21% more battery...
3. Display
- IPS vs AMOLED
- It's matter of personal preference, I take IPS any day. I love bright screen and ability to use comfortably even under the bright sun.
- Mi4c display is 1 of the best I have seen, really black and good contrast. Read more: http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_4c-review-1328p3.php
- Mi4c's front buttons backlights basically give you another 10% more screen space.
About ROM, mi4c has weekly update. Although the device has not launched outside of China yet, there are already 4 customs ROM available:
1. Unofficial EU MIUI
2. Unofficial CM12.1
3. Preview Android M (http://en.miui.com/thread-178779-1-1.html)
4. AOSP ROM (http://en.miui.com/thread-178354-1-1.html)
I have been using the phone for over a month now, really happy with it.

Agree. I pick Mi4C because once I spend money, I want to use hardware for as long as possible. Mi4C is more future ready with USB-C, WiFi-ac, 64bit compliance and cost. AMOLED is one thing that I'd miss but guess that's a minor negative.

No tweaks but aggressively toggling settings like aeroplane mode when on my train journey to/from work (no reception), only turning sync on when I connect to WiFi and then only connecting to WiFi occasionally to check emails. No bluetooth, location (yes, locking on is buggy for me but can get it eventually)
I love my Mi4C, the power, the battery life, the design and the display is awesome (and its not blueish) before I'd buy One Plus X, I would rather buy a Xiaomi Mi4
I just wish the Mi 4c had either 64GB or SD card support as well as band 20, I don't care about NFC. If it had those it'd be the perfect phone for me!
The Mi 4c is superior but if you really need band 20 e. g. you instead have to use 2G there's no way around the one plus x
either way both are solid phones
Mi4C is still not released worldwide, which means there will be issues if you want claim warranty. Oh and it's build is so plastic.

Thats the gamble. I have read one plus warranty/cs is not good and very hard to get hold of.
About the plastic, its not cheap like how samsung use to have, its better than the Nexus 5X, compared with bros phone. Think of it as premium plastic

I guess but at least OP have a global division where RMA and warranty issues get handled. Which is so much better than importing a phone yourself and then having to send it back to China if something goes wrong.
I know what you mean about he plastics, I've had 2 Xiaomi devices myself before. 1 of which was plastic, and it felt alright but if I have a choice I'd always avoid any type of plastic.
I was wondering right now after you have used mate 8 for quite some time Would you recommend others to do so?
:fingers-crossed:
Yes. I bought a nexus 6p rooted it and loved it but the moment I picked up the mate 8, I haven't taken the 6p out of its box. And the 6p is a great phone
Yes I would definitely suggest to get one?
Best android phone i ever had but best to try it before purchase to check if the size is Ok.
Aboslutely YES!
I got a 128Gb NXT-AL10.. Installed International firmware, TWRP and rooted.
TOP PHONE!
yep, i think i would have regretted getting the 6P (which i intended to buy at first) when the mate 8´s specs became public
awesome phone and not looking back!
only 3 things to consider:
-can you deal with the size? true, its got a nice screen-to-body ratio with tiny bezels, but its still a big phone!
- secondly, can you arrange yourself with EMUI? and if not, are you willing to tinker with the system to adjust it to your needs and wants?
- lastly, the GPU is "only" mainstream, so if u want highend graphics and are a mobile gamer, u might want to wait for upcoming SD or exynos devices...
on the other hand, if your focus is primarily on battery life, super smooth day to day operation, the fastest mobile cpu on the planet (indeed, even faster than upcoming SD820 and exynos8890!) a HUGE display with superthin bezels and super crisp, clear and vivid colors, then this is definitely for you!
Got a Mocha Gold 4/64gb version and I simply love the phone. Since I have been using Mi Note Pro before, I do not see whats wrong with Huawei's EMUI (albeit tons of complaints web-wide).
Not too sure about mainstream reviews, but mine came along with a rapid charger and flip case+generic screen protector. Some online reviews were *****ing about not having the rapid charger in the package.
On the other hand, for the un-initiated, the GPU on the mate 8 may look like crap vs the SD or Exynos. But after testing it on my Mi Note Pro (SD 810 SoC), I discovered the Mate 8 does not throttle (or a little) when compared to it, after prolonged game play.
My Mi Note Pro, starts to heats up really fast and you can tell the throttling a few minutes into GPU intensive games.
I am not sure about Exynos or the latest SD820 SoC devices, but based on Tom's hardwareRead the Article here
Quote:
"Looking at these results adds new context to HiSilicon's decision to use a quad-core GPU in the Kirin 950. By focusing on sustained performance rather than peak performance, a somewhat risky decision from a marketing standpoint, the Kirin 950 actually provides similar, if not better, performance after a few minutes of gameplay as compared to some other high-end SoCs, such as the Exynos 7420 or Snapdragon 810, at least when paired with a 1080p display like in the Mate 8."
In fact I am very pleased with its Antutu Benchmark results, boasting 97k by another member in another thread, with mine somewhere around 92k stock un-modded.
Cheerios!!
Does the Mate 8 have multi-user profiles by default? If not are you able to somehow activate them?
I wouldn't recommend because of the notifications bug. People who don't dive deep into settings will miss emails, messages, etc.
In this case, this is not a mate 8 bug but an android 6 bug.
See posts about nexus 6p and others
I would recommend it to most people. If having the best camera is important to you then I would pass. Everything else is great with the phone except the camera doesn't take sharp enough photos. They look sharp on the phone screen but transfer them anywhere else and you'll see how sharp they aren't compared to other phones.
That's an issue, that hopefully will soon be fixed!

Why you conisder a rooted phone is great .
I recently got my Nexus 6P (64GB) stolen and I'm thinking of getting the Mi4 since I'm on a tight budget. I'm also considering getting a Redmi 3S but it's a bit expensive compared to the Mi4 being an older device. I haven't used a custom rom ever since I used a Note 5, iPhone 6 Plus and Nexus 6P and I'm thinking of using a custom rom if I do get the Mi4. So do you guys think the Mi4 is still worth getting in 2017?
What i've heard, also camera in these new cheap ones is not as good as at launch with Sony sensor.
Snapdragon 801 seems plenty fast to me, I'm not trying to play VR games on my phone after all. Maybe some people are?

Can't find other one with Google, too much results. IIRC it was in en.miui.com.
As a mi4 user myself, I do not recommend it this day. This device is very good incase of build quality and battery life but it is outdated. You can at least go for Mi4c ( if I'm not mistaken, the one with sd 808 and 3 gigs of ram ) It will get Nougat too in summer maybe.
still works fine
it all depends on your usage of the phone. If you're looking into playing games then the SD801 might be not enough any more. If you need all LTE bands working, the MI4 wouldn't be the right thing.
cons:
-- gpu performance not up to par with current gpu's
-- different versions of the phone without LTE or only band 1,3
- only qualcomm quick charge 2.0
pro:
++ 5 inch JDI IPS screen is still top (1080p)
++ 13MP rear camera with sony sensor (IMX214 with f 1,8), not many top devices can beat that.
++ 8MP front camera with sony sensor (IMX219 with f 1,8), not many top devices can beat that.
++ build quality is top
+ 3080mAh battery is good enough
for me the best thing is the community support: you still get all sorts of custom roms including the latest nougat updates (check the MI3 forum, they are mostly working for the MI4 too).

it all depends on your usage of the phone.
++ build quality is top
+ 3080mAh battery is good enough
for me the best thing is the community support: you still get all sorts of custom roms including the latest nougat updates (check the MI3 forum, they are mostly working for the MI4 too).

Sorry for the super late reply, been busy with my studies. Anyway I got myself a Redmi 4A instead due to unexpected circumstances that killed my budget (lol). I don't really play games on my phone so I guess this would do for now. I'll save up and probably get something better by the end of this year or earlier next year. Though the Redmi 4A battery life is pretty good but I do miss the large screen, stereo speakers, and camera of the 6P *sobs*
Straight to the point, I'm looking to purchase one of the phones but I'm not sure which to get. I'm mostly looking into the selfie camera and XDA support so yeah not sure which one

I will go for Xiaomi mi 9. Wide angle camera, Dual SIM, Amoled, My mother toung, Call recorder and great price. Only missing 3.5 aux but I will survive. BB Oneplus....
My list:
Mi9: Most likely better AOSP support, cheaper
S10E: better screen, 3,5 jack, smaller size
I'm also thinking about buying either the Mi9 or S10E. At the moment, I'm slightly leaning towards the Mi9 because of the price and also because I don't really like Samsung's software.
That being said, Samsung has improved radically over the past years and Xiaomi is not exactly delivering mint Android either.
As for the size: Would love to buy the Mi9 SE but it looks like it's not going to be available in Europe and that it will also lack the necessary 4G bands to make it work properly.

Would definitely go for the Mi9. Depending on region Samsung has decided to use their Exynos variant in comparison to Snapdragon 855.
We all know the Exynos is faster than the Snapdragon 855 but with regards to power efficiency, we are still unsure. Last years Galaxy S9 Exynos variant suffered from severe battery issues which ultimately resulted in me returning my S9 within the cooling off period.
The Mi 9 is very attractive with its Snapdragon 855 and scores well on gsmarena battery test even beating the p20 pro (4000mah) which I currently own and would not sell apart from sh** selfie camera being worst ever. Ultimately Samsungs decision to only ship Exynos variant phones within the UK is a shocking one.
We should be given the choice
Mi9 I've just received mine.
I was going to get the S10+ but when I seen this and the price tag my mind was made.
Screen is great, cameras front and back are brilliant, it's so fast and smooth it's unreal. Fingerprint scanner is very good it's so quick and accurate nothing like OnePlus 6t that was dreadful for me.
Only think this device doesn't have for me is dual speakers, IP rating, SD slot.
Buy Mi9 Only if you dont mind the lack of OIS....camera at night is a joke.i sell mine for that after just 24 hours!!!

Agreed, camera so far one of the aspects I'm slightly less pleased with, especially coming from the Pixel 2 xl. However, a Mi 8 gcam port works already and so does night sight, which even though its not meant for this device works pretty well. So I'm definitely gonna be patient and follow its development as great things await us I believe! Would be great if we can use the telephoto and wide angle cameras with the gcam port!
I have installed gcam in mi9 with night mode... quality better BUT NOT with low light.you need a tripod ..theres not optical image stabilization (hardware)

I'm not so sure about "Exynos" is faster than 855, of course maybe Samsung phones with Exynos feel faster than Snapdragon?

This years exynos has also failed in terms of battery life.
The snapdragon 855 is way more efficient than the exynos

Exynos is only better in singlecore (multicore is faster in 855) but exynos does that at the expense of a lot of heat and battery. Also the GPU in 855 is like 2 generations better than exynos.
yes, my s9+ exynos still does beat the mi9 in single core. but the s9+ gets beaten in gpu tests even by my older mix 2 NON S (snapdragon 835!!.. not 845!!) 855 gpu is a beast. Exynos s10 gpu is just slighty better than s9 exynos because they did improve the power per core.. but removed like 40% of the cores... (g72mp18 vs g76mp12)
and that single core perf. is irrelevant.. My mix2 with a good rom is AT LEAST as fast as the s9+ in app opening, web surfing etc.. believe I tested.
