[Completed] Android update and all settings force closes, am i screwed? - XDA Assist

Ok so about a month ago I bought an Alcatel OT Fierce from a pawn shop because my old one was water damaged. Last night I decided to check for an update and I was surprised when I actually had an update available. After taking about 30 minutes to download my phone reboots, nothing really looked different so I tried to open settings to check the "about phone" tab and it force closed immediately, and wouldn't stop. I asked TMobile on the chat that what to do and they had me do a hard reset and and cache wipe (it was stock recovery), but when it was finished I couldn't get through the android setup because I have to set up a wifi network, which I can't because that force closes. I cannot use anything that has to do with android settings, so I can't turn on usb debugging, and Tmobile won't replace the damn thing because I didn't buy it from them. Is there anything I can do or am I just screwed?

[Q] "Camera Failed" Error. Please Help

Hello Everyone.. I have been getting an Error on my Infuse when I launch the Camera app. It says "Camera Failed" or it just freezes until it Force Closes. I have tried everything that I can think of.. I have tried
1) Going into Settings Menu of the Camera and Pressing Reset to default.
2) Going into Settings> Applications > Manage Applications > All> Camera > Force Stop/Clear Data/ Clear Cache
3) Updating the Camera Firmware by doing the Launcher trick ( Download Launcher Pro>Create Shortcut>Activities> Camera> Third Option "User" Phone Dump Write) and also via Keypad Dial hidden menu.
Either Option gets me stuck at 99% or 250/253 and will stay there over night.
4) Factory Reset both through menu settings and through Recovery.
5) Rooting and switching several Roms between Froyo and GB.
6) Reflashed through ODIN back to stock
7) Sent stock Infuse back to At&t AND Samsung to fix and both said it was out of Warranty due to corrosion in the charging port ( UGH?!) Ignoring the camera issue.
8) Even tried a Galaxy S II Camera APK
9) Alternate Cameras from market.....
So yea... Im fresh out of ideas Haha. If anyone see's anything I have missed please help. I am new to Samsung and have been using HTC. Any feedback is much appreciated, Please and THANK YOU!!!

LoL! Wtf, What kinda of corrosion are they talking about? Did the charging port area get wet? Or is the charging port just dirty with lint and **** that comes from your pocket?

They say its Moisture Damage / Wrong Charger Damage. I told them I just got it December and have only used the original charger that came in the box. Both Att and Samsung Admitted that there was obviously a problem and even got a rep who hinted that sometimes when there is any update to the phone either software from Att/ 2.2.1 /2.3/5 or what have you... sometimes the Camera Firmware does not get updated correctly. IM SPIRALING HERE!

Insist that they honor their warranty. The phone is barely 3 months old. Bug them again. When you get a survey, sent back a lousy one and tell them why.

Unfortunately , I have. I have gotten the same response. The fact that there is Corrosion and " Water Damage" on the phone. All the indicators are still white that I see unless they have some hidden ones. I sent to both Att Warranty center and Samsung Warranty. It was working fine until I had done a normal Factory Reset to it because I wanted to have a fresh start on the phone. I had not rooted , had not altered the phone in any way. I was running stock until I wanted to see if rooting and changing ROMS would fix it. Still nothing.
Anyone have any luck with this yet haha?

Yes, there are indicators that are inside the phone. You can see them in the XDA tv section when Adam Outler himself rips apart an SG2 to do the Unbrickable Mod. How you like them Apples? Good luck broski.

[Q] Keeping track of Boots / Restarts

Is there a way to keep track of how many times the phone restarts on it's own or when was the last time it booted?
My VZW S3 is randomly rebooting and I'm not looking at my phone 24/7 so I wanted to see if there was a way to log how many times it reboots or at least see the last time it booted up.
I am not rooted or anything, just stock out of the box VZW S3.

Check your battery stats, there will be a break in the graph when/where your phone rebooted.

It might be a little different on TouchWiz, but you can System Settings>About Phone>Status and at the bottom will be Up time - how long it's been since the phone booted.
I created an app with Tasker that will create a boot log. It will print the date and time of every boot to a file on your ext SD card. It is super simple, no UI, doesn't open anything, just creates the log. It does have a monitoring service running on the phone, uses about 12MB.If you want to try it let me know and I can get you a link for it.

This is the way I'd do it, so I second the suggestion to use Tasker for this type of automation on any rooted device.

[Q] WiFI broken post-reset

Hi all,
The Wifi on my AT&T HTC One X is no longer working and will display "Error" instead of Connected, Searching.., or anything else. This is what happened:
I tried to update my phone through a manual update via HTC's website from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. At the end of the process at the sending phase, I disconnected the phone as it was frozen. Maybe that's where this busted. I performed the same update on another computer where it appeared to work out, but I restarted my phone and judging from the home screen design was back to 4.1.1. (???). I performed hard resets via Settings with no luck.
Somewhere in there my WiFi broke. After consulting with HTC customer support, I was recommended a solution costing at minimum $150. I am hoping there is a better way to fix this and am hoping XDA could help me out. Thank you!

Fingerprint sensor completely stopped working on a stock ROM.

Hello everyone,
So I was an happy user of A9 for like 2 weeks until today. I was using fingerprint since the beginning with stock 6.0.1. Today, my sensor started to go mad, asking me to put PIN every time I wanted to unlock the phone. I already read that's some kind of trouble that came with 6.0.1 but the worst thing is that now I can't even get access to Fingerprint sensor settings :S All my saved prints have been deleted and whenever I go to Settings and try to go further (into Fingerprint Settings) - simply nothing happens... I can tap endlessly
I tried to use the "1st start configuration app" without success.. Already restored all settings but it also didn't help. I'll propably return the phone on waranty but I wanted to ask you guys first, in case there is any solution to bring Fingerprint back to work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I already did that. Now, I have to wait around one week and I'll see if they only re-installed OS. I'll post an update soon.

Good thing you claimed for warranty.
I had a problem with my battery after upgrading to 6.0.1, finally got a replacement piece as it wasn't even 10 days at that point of time.
I've received my phone back from the warranty. As I read from the warranty card, they replaced whole fingerprint and reinstalled OS. For now it works perfectly :good:
My HTC One a9 bought from ksa didn't support Indian language.
double letters can't show smoothly
I tried in Malayalam

[Completed] Nexus 5X reboot loop

I bought a Nexus 5X a month back. Within a week of purchase, my phone started restarting automatically. I tried factory reset and gave it to the service center, where they did something with the software and even then the problem persisted, few days from then I updated to Nougat and there was no issues for another 3 weeks. Now the problem has again come up, how to fix this issue? Some say its a software issue and some say its power button issue. Please guide!
