Hello Everyone.. I have been getting an Error on my Infuse when I launch the Camera app. It says "Camera Failed" or it just freezes until it Force Closes. I have tried everything that I can think of.. I have tried
1) Going into Settings Menu of the Camera and Pressing Reset to default.
2) Going into Settings> Applications > Manage Applications > All> Camera > Force Stop/Clear Data/ Clear Cache
3) Updating the Camera Firmware by doing the Launcher trick ( Download Launcher Pro>Create Shortcut>Activities> Camera> Third Option "User" Phone Dump Write) and also via Keypad Dial hidden menu.
Either Option gets me stuck at 99% or 250/253 and will stay there over night.
4) Factory Reset both through menu settings and through Recovery.
5) Rooting and switching several Roms between Froyo and GB.
6) Reflashed through ODIN back to stock
7) Sent stock Infuse back to At&t AND Samsung to fix and both said it was out of Warranty due to corrosion in the charging port ( UGH?!) Ignoring the camera issue.
8) Even tried a Galaxy S II Camera APK
9) Alternate Cameras from market.....
So yea... Im fresh out of ideas Haha. If anyone see's anything I have missed please help. I am new to Samsung and have been using HTC. Any feedback is much appreciated, Please and THANK YOU!!!

LoL! Wtf, What kinda of corrosion are they talking about? Did the charging port area get wet? Or is the charging port just dirty with lint and **** that comes from your pocket?

They say its Moisture Damage / Wrong Charger Damage. I told them I just got it December and have only used the original charger that came in the box. Both Att and Samsung Admitted that there was obviously a problem and even got a rep who hinted that sometimes when there is any update to the phone either software from Att/ 2.2.1 /2.3/5 or what have you... sometimes the Camera Firmware does not get updated correctly. IM SPIRALING HERE!

Insist that they honor their warranty. The phone is barely 3 months old. Bug them again. When you get a survey, sent back a lousy one and tell them why.

Unfortunately , I have. I have gotten the same response. The fact that there is Corrosion and " Water Damage" on the phone. All the indicators are still white that I see unless they have some hidden ones. I sent to both Att Warranty center and Samsung Warranty. It was working fine until I had done a normal Factory Reset to it because I wanted to have a fresh start on the phone. I had not rooted , had not altered the phone in any way. I was running stock until I wanted to see if rooting and changing ROMS would fix it. Still nothing.
Anyone have any luck with this yet haha?

Yes, there are indicators that are inside the phone. You can see them in the XDA tv section when Adam Outler himself rips apart an SG2 to do the Unbrickable Mod. How you like them Apples? Good luck broski.

OK so I tired hard reboot and the camera is still stuck on posterize mode. Now, I go to research getting AT&T to fix it and they won't because the outside of the phone has a ding from the first week I got it (before having a case) and they void your warranty exchange if there is any physical damage!
Any suggestions on fixing this one? How do I even find somewhere that could fix it?
I am not going to pay $500+ for a refurb phone that is only warranteed for 90days from AT&T when this one is barely that old and the camera doesn't work...grr.
That sounds more like software rather than hardware related, so...
I don't know if you've tried it, or if it'll work, but try going to manage applications in settings and clearing data for the camera app.
That's helped me with other apps that get stuck on stupid every so often.

Thanks, the clear data didn't work either.
I got a hold of HTC and it will be headed in to them in Texas to repair in the near future. Just have to find my spare phone (non smartphone how am I going to survive!) so I have something for the next 2 weeks.
My only other option is to try the AT&T repair center at my parents in FL when we visit this weekend (there are none in our state) but I would probably run into the same situation of having to leave it behind...

Have you tried a different camera app? I like MIUI camera if you're running an AOSP ROM (can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984279 and other places), but there are others available in Market (just search "Camera"), too, to at least be able to test
I guess I should have mentioned I tried that too!
I tried Camera360 Free and FXCamera from the market and it still came up screwy. Looks OK in Sepia, Grayscale, and Aqua, but not in anything else.
Magically fixed?!!
OK, so sitting a meeting I was playing with doing some of my settings since the factory reset. I deleted one App I had downloaded cause I didn't want it to re-install when returning from being repaired. Now my camera works correctly!
So, I guess the lesson is DO NOT INSTALL TAG READER for the Lowe's plant tags.
I guess I have to call and cancel the RMA until or if it happens again. Weird!

I can relate.
I downloaded "wave launcher," but never even once started it up.
Started noticing my keyboard lagging, and the space key would vibrate every few pushes. Thought it was something that went haywire with a rom I had flashed just prior.
Turns out it was "wave launcher." I thought you kinda had to run an app at least one initial time for it to install itself as a service. Evidently not.
Glad you got it fixed.

I updated my G2X when the Gingerbread version first came out. I just noticed that it still automatically rebooted itself twice last night while I was reading. The G2X was right nest to me and I heard the T-Mobile tone while it rebooted. Has anyone experienced this? I thought this update shall fix this bugging issue. I also notice the battery drains faster. Anyone knows how to root it after gingerbread update? Thanks.

Yup, go to the privacy menu and use the option.
The simple act of doing a reset does a lot for a smart phone.
I had an Iphone 3g where after 4.2.1 the solution to speed was to do 2 factory resets in a row.
Some people will return a laptop because they don't want to do a reboot.
------------After the reset, go to the marketplace and the first thing install the T-Mobile My Account app. The original version is problematic and can lead to buggieness

If you return a phone to Tmobile before doing a factory reset to see if it solves your problem then you simply don't value your time. A factory reset takes all but five minutes. If you call Tmobile you will have to wait for them to ship you a phone, and when it arrives it will be in "factory reset" condition anyway. If you go to a retailer and pick a replacement up, it too will be in the same condition. So if you are going to get a reset replacement, everyone would be wise to try a reset before rushing to Tmobile.
I had the same problems with GB after the update- I didnt do a factory reset though.
Moved to Eagles Blood and seems like a much more stable and cleaner rom- havent tested enough to see if it reboots or not though.
To root, flash clockwork mod recovery using nvflash and install a rooted rom. There's a rooted version of gb stock out there, or you could be adventurous and install one of the many custom ones we have.

Return your broken phone ASAP. Phones should not randomly turn off or reboot. It is broken. Do not try to fix a broken phone on your own. It will result in nothing but headaches. Take it back now!
Yeah my replacement phone still randomly dies, I'll come back in a few hours and have to do a battery pull. It doesn't reboot like the old one but it does die more.
Should I get the replacement replaced?

I ran Xboarders OTA GB with no tweaks since it came out. I then switched to EB 1.07 and had a ton of issues. I then returns to Xboarders OTA tweak and it was flawless. Now I am on to Weapon G2x.
Like I said, I really think a good scrub down and wipe, i.e. factory reset does wonders, at least folks should give it a try.
I absolutely agree that theres a good, actually great batch out there, I have NEVER had a single issue with my phone and its bone stock on 2.2.

Purchase at eBay does not affect 1-year warranty.
Recently have been using the CM10 Jellybean ROM until the ROM manager update ruined my music and galleries. In any case I found it a a little laggy and buggy for the time being. I decided to restore from CMW back to my previous rascream and after reboot, got the Google screen bootloop. I had the battery pull to stop it but after one battery pull, the Nexus S no longer turns on. Plugging into the charger, nothing shows up. I have tried to pull battery again and enter recovery mode but nothing's happening.
Have I properly borked it?
- battery was fully charged at the time
- using clockwordmod 5.0.1.4 (old)
- i9023
Can you still boot into fastboot? You should still be okay if you can at least get there.
These phones are very hard to brick. I'd there any lights at all?

thanks for the replies.
I can't get into anything on the phone. Pressing any combination of buttons doesn't light soft keys nor screen up. Also charging the phone for periods doesn't heat up the battery like some others have had.
I've put linux onto one of my old computer and tried the software AdamOutler mod to no avail. Both the Mode detector and Unbrickresurrector don't recognise my phone....
If you have the Problem with the gallery, you simply have to clear the Cache and Dalvik cache.....

Just an update on this. I returned my phone to warranty to be fixed. According to the repair notes, there seemed to be a problem with the board (not software related) thus was replaced. It also says in the warranty notes that the i9023 has quite a few of these board related problems.
Anyway, got Jellybean running OTA from Vodafone and it's working fine.
Hey Everyone,
Hopefully you have time and can answer this for me. About a month ago I downloaded the very first alpha rom of CM10 for the S3. Installation went fine and all but GPS was totally screwed up. Well a few roms later and updates to Google Maps its still not locking on to my position, even with WiFi on like someone suggested but wasn't needed before I began flashing so many roms lol. I've been using GPS toolbox and GPS status to get locks but it doesn't hold. It will stay locked then lose it a minute later where as when I didn't mess with roms and was on stock it would be fine and be able to see my phone from anywhere. Right now I'm looking at it as I type and it says GPS on in green on one of the apps and 8 in view and 7 in use but its still blinking constantly and the accuracy is at 500 feet sometimes more which is totally unacceptable. Used to be within 40 ft or less than that before something totally screwed with my GPS. I'm really desperate now Max because I use my GPS to get around town as I have a horrible memory but don't want to take it back to Verizon to get a new one and shell out more money. I've tried a lot of steps up to and including going back to complete stock on the phone to know avail, its still screwed. I've cleared the A-GPS cache and re downloaded it from these apps but its still not 100% perfect where I need it. Would you happen to know what to do to get this thing in working order so I can use it again and not have it lose lock while I'm on the road like its been doing? Maybe if you have an unaltered gps.conf file you could copy the stuff in that file for me and paste it on an email so I can recreate my own and see if it helps. Its under the system/etc/gps.conf if you need to know where it is. I really need help and you guys are the only people that actually knows these phones inside and out that could possibly help me on this. Like I've said, I've tried everything I can think of, using GPS tools on the market, going back to stock, jumping from 3 different roms and even deleting the Google maps and re downloading it and nothing helps, but hopefully you can. Thank you for taking the time to read this long email as I tried to give as much detail to my problem as needed to help you help me.

My GPS is fried
I have done alot of troubleshooting and I believe I screwed up my phone. I went from Synergy to CM10 and then to cleanrom. While on cleanrom I noticed my GPS wouldnt lock. So I flashed Synergy (Fully Wiping Of Course) and still no GPS. So I odined to stock and relocked bootloader. Still no luck. I ran GPS fix GPS Status GPS AIDS and GPS test and I am still screwed. My GPS still wont lock. It always says searching for GPS. I left the Navi on last night all night with a destination set hoping it would lock and say the magical words I want to here like "turn left" but instead I woke up to searching... been wiping data and cache 3 times daily tryna get this fixed.
I had gps issues no matter what rom or type of wipe i did. I notice it started after the synergy release where the gps settings were modified and no matter what it never worked again.I reverted the phone completely back to stock and the same thing. I called Verizon and they sent me a new phone, no issues anymore.

I know it wasn't directed towards me but I tried that number in the dialer and it did a different kind of factory reset than I've done myself, but the gps on my SGSIII is still screwed up. I've been sitting here for 10 mins waiting for it to find me and still nothing. I really don't want to have to send it back for another one, is there any other numbers I can do on the dialer to do something else? On Google Maps the icon to where Im supposed to be is grey and blinking so I don't think it sees the phone. I do rely on my gps for a lot so its bad that this isn't responding at all.

I didn't have to send it in and wait. I called them wednesday, it got here today (with their free shipping). Then you get 5 days to send in the original phone, they include a postage label and everything. No down time at all. Just make sure you completely set it back to stock before you send it.

Yeah its already back to stock, it seems faster after that reprovisioning but just wish the gps would work. Ill take it in my local Verzion store on monday to see what I can do about this. I just hope I don't get a SGSIII replacement that's already been tinkered with by someone else lol. I think my days of tinkering with phones myself are over since I don't want to go through this again
I also have the gps issues however I didnt restore back to stock.. anyway I bought my phone not directly from verizon I paid almost full retail price would they still take it for replacement or I have to go to samsung?
Samsung. And good luck with that. They are the worst. I had to get my nexus fixed and I sent it in 3 times for repair. They kept saying they fixed it and never did. after the third time i started screaming at them and they sent me a new one. hehehehe

I have the same problem. I was running Synergy at the time I noticed it. It's really difficult to get Maps to lock, and seems to only work after GPS Test or GPS Status first get a lock (which each take up to 30 seconds typically).
I went COMPLETE stock to try fix it; total wipe, locked bootloader, no root, pure vanilla. Still couldn't get lock with Maps.
I'm trying a custom gps config file now to see if that helps.
Really wish someone would figure out what caused this and how to fix/revert it.
The original galaxy s had the worst GPS ever (or later version would initially work but get worse over time), but a dev (jt1334) for the samsung fascinate fixed it after 8 months by changing something in the kernel.
Hopefully some devs familiar with his work could look at what he did and see if there is something similar that could be done on the gs3
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I am having an issue with my phone where the top left corner does not want to respond unless I restart the phone. This happens a completely random times and I am unable to pinpoint it. It all started the other day when the update came out. I have format my phone I have used Samsung smart switch to reinstall the OS and issue keeps coming back. I'm also having the same issue towards the bottom where are Google now application launcher is located. If you are using TouchWiz it is in the middle of the message app when I press the area it doesn't do anything unless I press to the right of it. I have turned on developer tools and selected show touches. I can see the touches and everything looks like it should work but the OS doesn't do anything. Once I reboot everything goes back to normal. When this happens I am unable to hit back on applications such as Gmail and I have to use a physical button to go back.
Phone is completely stock and had not been rooted.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks for your help
Admin can you please move to Q&A thread please. I realized I posted in the wrong spot.
This has also happened to me and I'm on a custom rom. Mind you, my screen was replaced not long ago because of stuck pixels, and I thought this could be problem with the new screen. Not sure what is happening, though.

I'm actually currently having this same exact problem. The thing that confused me was that it's the top left corner, no matter your screen orientation. Meaning it MUST be something OS related. But now I'm hearing Samsung Pay is the culprit? It's never caused this before until today...

I'm actually currently having this same exact problem. The thing that confused me was that it's the top left corner, no matter your screen orientation. Meaning it MUST be something OS related. But now I'm hearing Samsung Pay is the culprit? It's never caused this before until today...

Well, wasn't Samsung Pay. I had both disabled and the issue came up today. I tried to figure out which app it was but I couldn't figure it out. I went to my recent apps and forced closed each one but the left corner was still messed up. I couldn't get it back until I restarted.
Others are having the same issues on reddit.

When I force close them I also Uninstall the updates and clear the cache. That always seems to fix it for me.

I just uninstalled, clear cached, and and restarted. I'll see if it comes back. Thanks for your update.
Glad to know the problem is possibly a widespread one so Samsung has a better chance at fixing this.

Yeah hopefully. T-mobile said all updates come from Samsung so they can't do anything but exchange the phone. Someone on reddit said he exchanged his phone and the issue came back. Plus, they send you a refurbish sometimes.

It's an irritating problem, for sure, but not enough to go through all that. I'm just gonna wait it out for that Marshmallow update in January.
I'm having the same issue. I thought it was my phone and was about to contact tmobile about sending a replacement. Glad to know it's not just me. Looks like I'll just wait until the next update.
And I don't think it's Samsung Pay since I'm rooted and don't even have it installed

I had the same issue. I called tmobile and they were useless. Phone is stock and not rooted. Mine would happen and id reset the phone, it would be good for a few hours and then happened again. At first I thought it may be my case touching a part of the screen since the phone has such thin bezels. It wasn't the problem. I decided to do a factory reset and I've been good for 5 days now. I used Samsung pay before the reset and still use it now.

Prior to the factory reset, I also tried clearing catch and didn't work.

Yeah, they were useless for me too. I'm chatting with Samsung support via FB but they don't have any idea either. I've tried everything as well. I'm really out of options at this point. Sometimes when I clear everything from recent apps it starts working again but when I clear the same apps via force quit it doesn't work. I cant' figure out which app is causing it.
Samsung support is having me run my phone in safe mode for a few hours to see if the issues comes back. They're trying to see if it's a built in app or third party one.
