Caller ID Oddity? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

I haven't lived w/ a Samsung phone for any length of time since, IDK, the A900? So this is likely a super n00bish question:
When my wife calls me from the phone at her office, it shows as "restricted" on my Note 5. However, it does not show the number calling. Coming from a One M8, this is a change. The number always displayed on the M8 and even my Lumia 928 before that.
Is this a setting somewhere I'm not seeing and/or is there a way to enable display of the calling number?

You sure your wife is calling you from the same phone?

Yup! Same phone. She called me on my desk phone, and it shows the same number.

my phone wont call one PARTICULAR number

Hi. I have noticed a weird problem. I can call anyone and everyone can call me. But i have this particular number which my phone wont call. It starts ringing but after about half-second it cuts and tells me that the number is not available. But the number can call me. And i also noticed that when i have both these phones next to each other, the other one turns on its display as soon as my phone dials it, but wont connect, because my phone cuts it...
What kind of problem could that be? I tried removing the contact and adding it again, as well as rebooting my phone.
P.s.: the irony is that the particular number is my gf's lol

Maybe the person accidently barred your number from calling them?

Well too strange that it started happening after i changed my phones (very old nokia for this new moto g)
Yeah thanks, the operator told me that this is usually bcause of banning the number from the other phone..
And yes, somehow my number was on the black list of my gf's phone, though she's not much into setting anything in her phone, so we dont know how did i get there
Thanks everyone

No "numbersync" for Verizon s2

So when I spoke to Verizon prior to activating my s2, they said people I call an text will still see my main Verizon number. True if I'm connected via Bluetooth. But once I go remote, not the case. But it's odd. Texts for the most go through an show up as my original phone number, but if I make a call remotely, it only shows my watches phone number. Any ideas? Are people supposed to be seeing my main phone number or my watch number?

NumberSync S3 on AT&T

I'm unable to get it setup on my Note4. I get the incredibly useful message "Backend error" from the AT&T site after I enter the sync code on their site.
Is this a temporary issue you think, or is it just the usual incompetence of an inept software developer who can't be bothered to give meaningful results to help narrow down the cause of an error?
Is it working for everyone else?
Yep, getting the same error message. Hope this is temporary!
I was having a similar issue. On my Gear S3 when trying to get the sync code, it kept giving an error message. Finally after 9:30 central time I was able to generate the code and get it synced. I think the system was overloaded with all the at&t pre-orders being delivered yesterday.
Anyone have AT&T S3 but linking to S7E 935F International phone? Keep trying to set up Numbersync but it connects to my wife's 935A. It won't see my phone. I am running Hydra Rom but the watch is connected with Bluetooth no problem.
For numbersync to be setup, you have to have a username for myatt for that exact phone. Then it will allow you to setup numbersync if that phone is HD voice capable.
I set it up on my Axon 7 without any problems.
Just tried again, same error message

Me too.. Pretty infuriating. I don't know if it's temporary or something wrong with my setup/login/config/primary account/whatever because of an inept app developer on their end.

According to AT&T International S7E (Exynos) is not compatible with LTE Frontier watch on AT&T due to no HD voice? Can use Bluetooth, but not the Numbersync. I'm pretty PO'd right now as that was why I bought it.
Anybody getting this to work yet?
I have not been able to get it to work. I am using an unlocked tmobile note 4. When I called I was told it was because it was not an at&t phone. What if I change the build prop to 910A from 910T? Would that be enough for it to work? Dont want to try and mess things up.

Hi I'm new to this forum. Like OP, I also have a Note 4 ATT LTE and had the same Numbersync error. Here is how I resolved my issue after extensive research:
1) Make sure to enable HD Voice on your phone if supported (for Note 4: Settings->More networks->Mobile networks->Mobile data->check Enhanced LTE Services (mine was unchecked)
2) Before even attempting to sync via Numbersync, make sure that your cell phone number is set as primary in My ATT account. I didn't have a primary number set, so I tried making the Gear S3's number primary (when I was prompted to add one) and it didn't work properly. So I learned it's essential your PHONE (the one you intend to connect with S3) is set as primary, NOT another phone/tablet/wearable line in your account.
3) After all the initial errors and hassles thereafter, I just reset the S3 after following my above instructions and the sync was seamless and I was up and running.
Hope this helps...it certainly worked for me!
Is your phone stock? Rooted? Custom rom? AT&T branded phone?
Yes! That worked, thank you!

YW glad it helped! :good:
I too have a note 4 and had no problems setting mine up with the Frontier today. So far I am loving it. It was the only one that my local store had gotten in stock. Now just trying to find out how to get the second hand to start working in the deduct face with the red second hand.

The red pointer is for the chronograph function. It does not move unless you tap it to start the chrono. Bad design in my opinion.
Soo no one here might have an iPhone they were able to get numbersync to work on with the leaked iOS app?
Has anyone got Numbersync to work on International S7E 935F?
I have number sync working with my Nexus 6P, spent about an hour in the AT&T store working with the salesperson that sold me my Frontier. He was under the belief that it was tied to IMEI numbers so he supposedly cloned my wife's IMEI number to my 6P which didn't work. I told him that I read that HD Voice/VoLTE had to be enabled and because I had a Nexus 6P that was the problem. So he called support and asked them to enable HD Voice on my line. While he was doing that I was googling, found this thread: https://forums.att.com/t5/Device-Features/Nexus-6P-No-HD-Voice-and-Wifi-Calling/td-p/4346076 and followed this guide:
Navigate to Settings > More > Cellular Networks and enable the toggle switch for "Enhanced" 4G LTE Mode. However, if the toggle is missing then follow the steps provided below:
Launch the Dialer app on your phone, and dial*#*#4636#*#*.
Choose Phone information.
Enable or select VoLTE Provisioned Flag.
Restart the phone.
Go to Settings " More " Cellular networks and toggle the switch for Enhanced 4G LTE Mode, and the HD Voice calling feature should now be activated on your device running Android 5.1 and above.

I enabled the VoLTE option, restarted my phone and sure enough when I went back into the MyATT webpage I was now offered the ability to enter in a sync code and it worked. He was never able to get support to enable HD Voice on their end. Going back into the setting it shows that VoLTE isn't active, I have no HD Voice option or feature in the Enhanced 4G LTE options at all but my number is indeed synced. I left my phone at home, walked the dogs and made 2 phone calls and the number did go over as my cell number.
Now the other thing he mentioned that should work is to use an approved AT&T phone that has HD Voice capabilities enabled. Then if I were to put my SIM in that phone, wait for the MyATT webpage to update showing that this other phone was tied to my number, then perform the number sync at this point it should also work, once it's enabled it won't go away according to the ATT rep. I didn't need to do that so I can't confirm but it sounds reasonable.

T-Mobile Digits

Supposedly their one number solution works with any carrier.

Not sure how it works with any carrier when the sign up asks specifically for your Tmobile phone number? Lol I did however read about the beta sign up page leaking people's accounts by a glitch in the system. https://www.xda-developers.com/t-mobile_digits_security/

I went to the site and started to opt in for the beta. It presented me a 10 digit number that was not one of my several T-Mobile lines. I went no further.
About 10 minutes later I went back to the site. They have changed the sign up process. You now just sign up (no data exchange) and they will get back to you if you are selected.
Hope it works as I have 2 smartwatches and a phone line on T-Mobile, plus I have a work phone on Verizon. This could make it easier for me to use one number and not have to worry about setting up call forwarding on multiple devices.

According to Engadget, the app will work with the big 4 carriers. They're not sure about specifics yet.
Hmm well that might be cool then!
Just signed up on mine. My Pixel XL and Gear S3 now use/share the same number

I'm not certain that this is the cause, however, since activating Digits, my S3 doesn't seem to want to connect to the mobile device through the cellular network any more. I used to get all the notifications and now -- nothing. Anyone else experiencing this?
I can't seem to activate the "Remote connection" on the Gear App, so I'm not convinced that the problem is with Digits.
Any thoughts?

Quick update: Much as I hated to do it, a device reset on the S3 and a reinstall of the Gear app on the phone solved it. My guess is that the phone and the S3 device exchanged pertinent info from the esim card that changed when the phone number changed upon enrollment in Digits. Redoing the whole thing, I presume, forced this new information into the equation and solved it toute suite.
If anyone has any additional insight, I'm all ears, but I'm good to go now.

How the Gear S3 LTE actually works?

Im thinking of grabbing one of these up but have a couple of questions. Im on tmobile by the way
1. can you use one number because it can be a task giving out two numbers?
2. If you are using one number, if your phone is off will it show the watch number or the watch number?
3. If your phone is dead/off can you receive text/mms/calls if someone is calling your phone and if you reply will it show your phone number or watch number
wow..no input on this? I have googled but cant seem to get a concrete handle on it
I think it depends on the carrier. I'm on Verizon and the other day my phone died and calls rang through to my number on my phone on the watch. I haven't done a test yet to see if I call from the watch when the phone is off what happens. I'll see if I can do that for you and let you know.

i would def appreciate that...i think that is the biggest blind spot dealing with these lte watches how they work
So I did a test. With the phone in airplane mode and wifi on the watch turned off, I could make and receive calls on the watch as if it were my phone. Texts though came from the watch number.
In looking at the number share FAQ on Verizon, it states that to send texts you need to have the phone connected to a network. I know if my phone is on and I am connected via LTE on the watch texts show as if coming from the phone.
Not sure on other carriers how this works. Hope this helps.
My experience withGear S3 LTE and ATT
I have an Essential that I purchased at Best Buy and brought to ATT to sync with my stand alone Gear s3 LTE. My gear has it's own number, and I wanted it to sync with my phone as advertised, so I can have one number for both devices. The rep told me that it is not possible because I used an unlocked non-ATT phone. They claim that for it to work, the phone must have at t software on it. So now I have two phone numbers. Oddly enough, when I use the Bluetooth connection option, I get no notifications. When I use standalone, I actually receive notifications from my phone, but when I respond, it is from my watche's number. It's a mess. I still think it's possible, but finding a rep that can fix it is the difficult part. Every time I deal with at t, I get different answers from different reps about most everything.
