my phone wont call one PARTICULAR number - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have noticed a weird problem. I can call anyone and everyone can call me. But i have this particular number which my phone wont call. It starts ringing but after about half-second it cuts and tells me that the number is not available. But the number can call me. And i also noticed that when i have both these phones next to each other, the other one turns on its display as soon as my phone dials it, but wont connect, because my phone cuts it...
What kind of problem could that be? I tried removing the contact and adding it again, as well as rebooting my phone.
P.s.: the irony is that the particular number is my gf's lol

Maybe the person accidently barred your number from calling them?

Well too strange that it started happening after i changed my phones (very old nokia for this new moto g)

Yeah thanks, the operator told me that this is usually bcause of banning the number from the other phone..
And yes, somehow my number was on the black list of my gf's phone, though she's not much into setting anything in her phone, so we dont know how did i get there
Thanks everyone

Weird problem with my Infuse

so here is the problem I am having with my phone(almost once a day)
I have unlocked it and I have been using for T-mobile
It shows carrier name and also signal strength but when i call any number it would ring but a person on other end would never receive it...same thing happens if someone else calls me they would call me and it would go to my voice mail and i would never receive their call...the only way to find out is when i txt some one it will give me an error saying failure some thing then i would know that the phone is having unusual problem again once i restart the phone it would work just fine then after few hours it will do that all over again..so far this is what I have tried in order to fix it....
odin to stock
tried different roms (froyo, gingerbread)
so here is my take it's not a rom problem..then what is it?
any help would be appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read my problem...
Have u called tmobile and gotten them to text u their settings? I was not getting mms and they sent me a text that i had to install then everything workef
but if it was a setting problem y would it work all this time? like I mentioned earlier that if I restart the phone or tun on/off airplan mode...it solves my problem for few hours...
if you have tried different roms that kind of rules that out which points back to possible network issues, and or hardware issue. how long has the issues been occuring for, and in multiple locations (outside of say a 5 mile radius) or just just one specifci area/location?
edit: maybe you have a different phone you can put your simcard into for a day or two and see if the issue continues?
well I bought this off of ebay and seller didn't mention anything regarding this issue but I think that person was having same issues. It's not a sim card b/c I have tried my sim card in other phones and it works even in iphone 4 originally i was using Iphone 4 I had to turn my sim to mini sim but to make it regular sim I just use the left over piece and it works in other phones w/o a problem. Like u mentioned I have been thinking it's a hardware issue...oh well i m getting rid of this phone pretty quick...thanks to both of u to take the time and answer me...

[q] att htc vivid issue

Hi I am using the ATT HTC VIVID
I bought this phone last Nov 11, and I stated noticing my phone was not receiving any calls if I stay at home(jersey city). If anyone calls to my number it will not connect at the same time it will not sent to voicemail also. It will say "call couldn't be completed".
After 2 months fight with ATT, they tried
1. they did a factory reset on my phone - it didn't help
2. changed the sim card - it didn't help
3. finally they replaced a another HTC vivid
even that didn't help
finally they said there was issue in near to my home and they fixed it.
now i a started receiving calls but now the issue i am having is, if I call to my number it will not connect first time it will go to voicemail, and second time if i try then it will ring. (First time also my phone is idle) This is happening randomly and ATT is not helping on this situation. As per them I am not able to replicate when they were testing on my phone.
Because of this issue I am missing calls which is making me really frustrated. After three week of research I found this is happening in not only near to my home its happening at my work place (NYC) and if I go around also its happening.
Can someone please give some advice to fix the issue that would be really great
Sounds like an issue that IMEI is conflicting :'(
Low end cheap bro.....
First of all, thanks for the response
But I am not getting the answer clearly
Can you please explain more and what should I do
Do I need to contact ATT or something

Manually change the MIN number

Alright guys i did search on here, and google before posting this thread and haven't really found an answer. Anyways my dads S3 has been acting weird lately, he lost his IMEI and we restored that and everything was fine, well a few days ago he had to travel and put the phone into airplane mode on the plane, got off the plane and it was stuck in roaming. At that time he couldnt receive text messages, but now he can't send texts, receive them, make or receive calls, etc. Well come to find out his MIN (Mobile identification number) somehow got changed to a phone number that hes never used or recognized. The S3 was bought brand new from verizon, and wasn't having any issues until recently.
So my question is i know in years past verizon phones had service menus that allowed you to manually change that number, but i'm not sure if the S3 has that capability or not. The other question is if it doesn't is there anyway to get it to change back automatically? He'll be home in a few hours and were gonna reset to stock and restore IMEI and reprovision again just incase that fixes it. But i wanted to ask now, so if that doesn't work, we'd have a solution.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
The MIN is not supposed to match the MTN(phone number) . They are always different.

I don't mean to argue but not 2 hours ago I borrowed a friends samsung galaxy phone to see what settings I needed to tweek on my fascinate. We are both on Straight Talk and her min was exactly the same as her phone number. Her phone works fine (data, mms and voice), mine just sends and receives text and the min is completely different from my MTN.
I am going to change it and see what happens, I will keep yall posted.
I have never had a matching MIN in my life. Most carriers use a different MIN then your number to help deter cloning.

I wouldn't if I were you. Mine is different, Walmart Straight Talk is not Verizon
my min is the exact same as my phone number
...been that way from day 1!
Mine are different, been that way since day one. Same with my previous phone too.

On Verizon my MIN same as phone number also.
Edit: from what I have been able to find it will be different if you ported your number to Verizon and will work fine. If not ported it usually someone else's old inactive number and can lose data. If you have data and call number you may get someone you don't know or will get other carrier you ported from. Can't find anything on how to change. May have to contact carrier if restore doesn't fix it.

Ghost called me?

Today I received an incoming call from a known number (my friend) and when I accepted the call (slide to the right) the timer started counting and I was hearing the sound that you hear when you dial somebody. Because, it was, in fact actually dialing that number. My friend didn't pick up her phone (busy or something) so I got the message "please leave a voicemail..."
And that happened about 4 more times, one of those time she picked up the phone and asked why I called her. I said I didn't call her. I received an incoming call from her. And after that until now I keep receiving a notification saying "new voicemail" and there are new voicemail. And these voicemail are the sound mentioned above (the sound you hear when you dial somebody).
So what happened? How can an incoming call when accepted call back? And who made the calls? It appeared that my friend had access to her phone, not like it was stolen or something.
It can possibly be the network provider (yours or your friend's carrier) acting up. That issue doesn't sound like its the actual phone. Have both you and your friend call both of your carriers and ask them to reset the network. Explain the situation to them. Maybe they were doing some testing/maintenance and it interfered with the service.

NEVER call police!!! :good:
Valentines day is close and that friend:cyclops: maybe....cupid did it?
Google's algorithms have determined that you two really need to talk.
I followed dicecuber's advice and called 911. I was told that this was done by the NSA.
Just kidding
Now things seem to be peaceful. No more calls from my known-but-unknown friend. I now have 6 voicemail like that though. Wasted about 30 minutes to listen to those voicemail, and I'm using T-Mobile $30 100-minute plan.
I thought of the possibility of an app on my phone doing this and am considering doing a factory reset, but I'm not sure if it's even possible for an app to do that. Not to mention I believe I don't have any malicious apps on my device.
- If I do a firmware restore would I need to calibrate the battery?
- Do you add an "s" after "voicemail" to make it plural?
For those that are wondering, this is absolutely not a trolling post nor a joke.

Caller ID Oddity?

I haven't lived w/ a Samsung phone for any length of time since, IDK, the A900? So this is likely a super n00bish question:
When my wife calls me from the phone at her office, it shows as "restricted" on my Note 5. However, it does not show the number calling. Coming from a One M8, this is a change. The number always displayed on the M8 and even my Lumia 928 before that.
Is this a setting somewhere I'm not seeing and/or is there a way to enable display of the calling number?

You sure your wife is calling you from the same phone?
Yup! Same phone. She called me on my desk phone, and it shows the same number.
