The ota update notification appeared last week and it was downloaded and verified.
Decided to update, so fully charged, updated all my apps and back up photos, contacts etc. Also wiped the cache partition.
When I rebooted after wipeing cache the update notification appeared as usual and I selected restart and install. Counted down from 10-0, then got stuck on rebooting now... Phone still functioning as normal. So powered down and manually rebooted, ota notification not appearing anymore but the update still available via settings>system update and still hangs on rebooting now.
Any suggestion other than factory reset?
Everything is stock.

Doing a factory reset from Android probably won't change anything, it will just wipe your data. If you don't mind that, and just want to update, then flash the M factory image, there's no need to OTA.
If you want to keep data, then grab the OTA file (the DL link should be posted online already), and sideload it with adb/stock recovery.
Should work.

Hello. Last night I finally unlocked Infinity. Now, odd things are happening. Gmail quit sending, they just stay stuck in out box, stock browser keeps disappearing, I have to restore with TB, and, Wifi indicator stays grey now instead of blue. Several other odd glitches, too. I did factory reset, I tried re installing nandroid, and cold boot. Doesn't work. Any ideas?
Oh. I forgot strangest thing. An OTA downloaded last night before reset, and this morning it downloaded again. Keeps prompting me to update. Its the newest JB firmware. Didn't think I was supposed to get anymore.

Probably the best bet now is try to do a factory reset(do it twice) and manually reflash the full stock firmware.

How would I re flash full stock firmware? I was trying to flash clean ROM last night, but kept failing. I don't have the newest firmware, just the original JB update. Using TWRP
I probably start by downloading from Asus, what steps after that? Think I was screwing up last night.

========= Recover /Downgrade from Jelly Bean to ICS/Clean Factory Restore with custom recovery =========
1) Download the latest firmware from Asus site
2) Extract the .zip file somewere on your desktop
3)Rename the file to something like "recover.zip" uploade it to the root of your MicroSD card
4) Insert the MicroSD card in your tablet and use this button combination to Power ON and go to recovery -->
Start the tablet by pressing Volume Down and POWER togheter for 5 seconds ,a message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter the recovery, press Volume UP before the 5 seconds expire
5) From the recovery menu press Install and select the "recover.zip" file ...wait until the install process ends and then restart your device.
I'm trying to remove apps that's on this phone (GT-S7500) because some of the apps always force close and not working. Firstly, I tried uninstall the apps one by one, all went good until I rebooted the device, all of the apps are back again. Second, went to privacy>erase everything including SD card content, device rebooted and went straight to recovery. It was weird because normally it will reboot itself straight to home screen. So I select the option factory reset/wipe data, after that wipe cache partition and reboot. Device does not reboot but turned off completely (weird again) Turned it back on, and only saw that none of the apps were removed. Even the wallpaper are still the same. Next thing I do is manually boot into recovery menu and factory reset again, still the same thing, (device turned off without rebooting itself, turned it back on and everything was still the same) after few tries again, I finally decided to flash a stock rom with ODIN. Flashing was successful ODIN shows PASS, waiting device reboot but it shut off completely again. turned it back on, but nothing changes. wallpaper are still the same and every single downloaded apps were still there. Went to settings> about device only to found that it wasn't the same rom that I've flashed earlier using ODIN.(flashed 2-3 times again, results still the same) Very confused right now, suspected that the internal SD card was corrupted/damaged. Does anyone experiencing such thing on your galaxy ace plus? searched on xda forums and found that this issue was also happening on few other devices. This is not my phone, just helping a customer. Thank You.
After flashing stock rom
Go to recovery (stock of course)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Reboot

I can't do anything once it boots.
Factory reset lets me get through the setup process, but no home screen or anything..
reboot leads to "Unfortunately, com.keyguard has stopped" and keeps popping up. literally stuck.
Rooted 4.4 out of the blue this morning bootlooped when I turned my phone on this morning.
No xposed, ART enabled.
Again, factory reset from stock recovery gets me nowhere. Is there a way I can completely wipe whatever is causing this? Still no FXZ for 4.4 right?
Droid Maxx
Others have fixed issues by putting the 4.4 update zip on their sd card and running it again, repairing system files and keeping user data. Possible?

Here is the fxz: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u....4-SU2-3-15-release-keys-cid2-Verizon-US_.zip
Extract the files, put your phone in fastboot mode, run the flashall.bat

Factory data reset doesn't reload the OS as far as I know I have ran a FDR and not lost root. It deletes all user data like apps downloaded and pictures etc. So it won't fix an OS error only an FXZ does that. It basically strips all the stuff you downloaded to factory settings but doesn't reinstall the OS.
Did you have SS inistalled and not make a backup or did you not have SS installed. If you can get to SS you could load a backup if you had one.
Yeah ended up using that. Just happy to have a working device again despite no root anymore lol
Thanks a ton guys

Hi Community ,
Today one of my friends bought me the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 the 4.7 version Single SIM 8GB, Contract-free from Germany. During the first boot he was instructed to install the new firmware updates, everything went fine "I guess" until the phone restarted, he told me that the recovery mode screen appeared, but frankly i think that he got this screen by accident maybe he was pressing the power key and the volume up key while the phone was restarting who knows, anyways he selected Reboot system now from the menu, and when the phone starts up, no notifications were found and nothing says that the system was updated successfully.
So after all of this he checked the system firmware version, And it was 5.0.2-010 05,and a message saying new updates are available appeared. He proceeded the installation of this update, And everything went fine this time and he system is now 5.0.2-010 07.
So is it normal or the android system will be corrupted, The fact that i have the 5.0.2-010 07, does it mean that all the previous updates are applied correctly to the system ?
How can i please remove all the firmware updates and remove any changes so i can reinstall the system updates properly ?
P.S: I'm an android noob don't be harsh to me please
Hello and welcome to the comunity.
If everything works as it should be, that means the update was succesfull. Sometimes OTA updates are a small files about 50MB which only fixes some bugs, and thats why you dont need to see "android is upgrading" in the boot and also sometimes the OTA reboots the phone to recovery to be able to flash system files correctly.
So when you have 010.07 that means the update was successfull. If you maybe encounter some problems, just do factory reset the phone (you will lost all installed apps, sms, call log, but no photos and music).

Thanks a lot for the reply, So when the OTA reboot to recovery, choosing reboot system now from the recovery menu was the right choice ?
i think when the OTA has to reboot to recovery then there you should see some instalation progress which should end with automatic reboot. But anyway, when all works as it should dont bother with it.

I saw the installation progress only in the second update, in the first update the phone rebooted into recovery mode in which there is a static menu that i don't really remember the choices.
but yeah, anyways thanks
i am on custom rom, so i don't know how exactly the updates work. I am waiting to next update to android 6.0, but it will come not before march as i have i formations (more likely in summer )
Hi - My OnePlus One is the one I purchased from OnePlus One - with all the over the air upgrades.
The most recent was the April 2016 CM13 marshmallow upgrade - but this causes a permanent Google Play Services error - which freezes the screen (soft brick) - right after any reboot.
I'm considering doing a factory reset - (I understand that the process is to hold the volume button down while rebooting?) - but I wanted to check if there were other, better options for fixing this?
Thanks!
I am having the same issue..
after every boot up it gets stucked at lockscreen and doesnt allow me to do anything.... after 2-3 minutes gets automatically restarted..
Please Help
So, i own an OPO, stock, running COS 13 ( received update a few days ago). No ROOT, no Bootloader unlocked.
Today, early in the morning (My local time) I restarted my OPO because my Google Fit was not able to record my activity. After the reboot, i tried to unlock my phone, but it got STUCK. Freeze if you will.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Cache, it did not worked.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Data, it did not worked.
i do not the reason for wipping not working but i was scared. Because whenever a tried to boot into system, I was stuck at lockscreen
I tried to perform a wipe from adb, but adb shell was printing a "error closed". So i got scared .
I thought that i could fix my issue by performing a Wipe...
I Download the OPO toolkit. Put my device into fastboot, and unlocked my bootloader ( yes i void my warranty). After that, the toolkit installed the TWRP ( Custom Recovery ) with just one click.
Then i boot into recovery and perform a wipe. Phone was no longer stuck at lockscreen (actually i lost all data)
After that, my phone has been working great. (more than 12 hours from the issue)
Good luck mate.!
Hi all,
Having the same problem, I'm inquiring me about a way to fetch data from the devices. Is there any way to pull data from an encrypted device?
Also had the lockscreen error after the update.
I did:
Wipe Cache,Dalvik, System but not Data
Install Full Rom (COS 13)
Install SuperSU Beta
Reboot
wipe cache/dalvik/system, not data
Afterwards i could login but play services crashed every second. Then I allowed play services all rights again in privacy settings.
Rebooted and i could not get past lockscreen any more.
I restored my last backup, updated all apps, allowed all google apps without restrictions in privacy, cleared their caches.
Disabled lockscreen.
Restarted and updated as above but did not Install SuperSu beta directly.
System booted fine. Then I installed SuperSu beta again. Still no problems
Hope this helps or gives some hints on the cause.
