Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
I am going to say no. Unlocking is the least of your issues, as Sprint is a CDMA carrier and AT&T is a GSM carrier. I'm not even sure you'll even have a SIM card slot (needed for AT&T) other than for show.
At any rate, I am connecting this thread to the forum your device experts can be found:

Please note, in order to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

I have my sprint note 5 gsm unlocked and it works fine on ATT. Google Idoneapps
With the new version, I don't loose unlock with reset or flashing roms. But you can always rerun the app

I have no idea. I only ran an ATT sim to test. I unlocked it to use overseas during travel. I don't trust sprint's international unlock at all.

Can you share how you unlocked it to use overseas?

[Q] Is it a must I have a sim card?

I've seen a couple of threads but no one has given a answer! I have a brand new htc inspire 4g from att and no sim card, which I really don't need becuase I've got Tmobile. I want to try and root the phone so I can use Tmobile's sim card and unlock the GSM networks. Is it possible to root the phone without a sim card? And/or can I use my tmobile sim card to root the phone even if its saying network locked?
Although I haven't done it myself, I'm sure it's possible to root without using a sim card.

The short answer is no, you don't need a sim in to root and unlock. I did it recently
I rooted two inspires without simcards. Used Attn1's hack kit (whatever latest was at the time).

OK, I thought it was funny. I love that book. I get the same response though when someone asks a question and I answer it with 42.
And to the OP, yes you can root without a sim card.

Edit LTE bands?

I have Samsung Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925P (Sprint verizon) it's already unlocked for GSM.
Now, I want to use LTE - but the model isn't support Band 3 and 7. Can I make them available? How?
You need to root or get your msl code from sprint. From there you have a few more possibilities.
I am rooted + have msl code. guide me please.
Enter ##data# on your keypad. Hit edit and enter msl. There are menus for LTE.

This root method involves using an engineered boot image that doesn't trip Knox if you do it right, however the bootloader is locked so flashing custom ROMs is still not possible.

This is late, but John Legere was lying through his teeth - this was entirely a TMo decision. Got an international version (without snapdragon) which is working good. Will never by another device from TMo US.

No U.S. phones will be unlocked. When a phone is rooted, the government can't get metadata from your phone.... and they want to be able to spy into everything on your phone. The government loves Facebook, Dropbox, and any other collector of information, pics, and emails....

Update to 6.0 and keep unlock???

Have any of you with a Sprint Note 5 been able to update to Android 6.0 and keep your unlock? I got my phone unlocked today by onlineunlocks and im using it with cricket and dont want to update if im going to lose my unlock and possibly not be able to get it unlocked again.
Updating to 6.0 should have nothing to do with sim unlocking. Rooting yes. You should be fine.

I'm pretty sure you will lose lock because of the way it formats the phone partitions.
It really depends on how it was unlocked...... I'm unlocked and updated everything went well. I'm unlocked and on AT&T with LTE.

Google is selling the U1 version of the T-Mobile Note 20 line. Basically an unlocked phone.
Google Fi operates on T-Mobile/Sprint/US Cellular networks, and uses a TMB CSC code.
There is nothing unique about the phone hardware.
This device would have specific google fi software for access to fi carrier switching? (and if so, could be ported to any generic unlocked note device?)
The reason I'm asking is to be able to source a cheaper device outside of the Google store, or used.

You'll be fine.
Considering all T-Mobile features work on U1 devices, I'd assume you're on the right firmware for Fi.
As for the carrier codes, U1 would be XAA/XAA/XAA. When you insert a carrier activated sim card, the phone should automatically ask to be set to correct carrier configuration. In this case, you could end up with something different after installing the SIM, such as a T-Mobile CSC but I'd keep it as is and let the phone configure itself.
