Update to 6.0 and keep unlock??? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Have any of you with a Sprint Note 5 been able to update to Android 6.0 and keep your unlock? I got my phone unlocked today by onlineunlocks and im using it with cricket and dont want to update if im going to lose my unlock and possibly not be able to get it unlocked again.

Updating to 6.0 should have nothing to do with sim unlocking. Rooting yes. You should be fine.

I'm pretty sure you will lose lock because of the way it formats the phone partitions.

It really depends on how it was unlocked...... I'm unlocked and updated everything went well. I'm unlocked and on AT&T with LTE.

How was your phone unlocked? And how did you get lte? Guessing you got your msl?

I got my phone unlocked from here: thewireless proffessional.com. Yes I have lte.

How about gsm unlock done for sprint note 5 using UICC method?
Will it remain unlocked?

Can you upload a screenshot of your APN settings so I can make sure I have mine right?

I have my sprint note 5 unlock and I just updated via odin to 6.0.1 and the unlock still remains just have to redo the APN. And is rooted to.

[Q] Problems Network Unlocking Samsung S4

Hi Guys,
I'm a new poster but long time reader.
I hope someone can assist; I have been trying for a good few hours to allow my S4 (GT-I9505) to accept any Sim card.
Currently, when it's turned on it will give the message:
SIM Unlock Network PIN
You get the following options:
<Unlock>
<Dismiss>
It's a UK Phone originally from the EE network.
The Phone used to have a stock EE Firmware version 4.4.2 (I9505XXUGNI2) I have since flashed this to the THREE network's 4.4.2 firmware (I9505XXUGNJ3) but unfortunately this didn't unlock it.
I have also tried a few Custom Roms and have rooted the device but don't really know where to go from here.
I have seen a few people mentioning that it can be done using *#0011# and a few other key codes but these don't work either.
When I try to get to the service menu (Hit Back then key input 1 then Back again) it does nothing.
Can anyone suggest what my next step would be? I'm more than happy to root or flash Roms or what ever it takes to get it unlocked.
I've searched the forums high and low but can't seem to find anything that relates to my situation.
Thanks,
S.
Uh, the EU legally forbid SIMlocks in 2003. There shouldn't be a SIMlock. That's very odd.
This really should be in the relevant thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683

Many thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure if it is a SIM lock. More like a network lock. When the phone is turned on with a Non-EE SIM inserted, this message comes up:

}
The post you linked me to doesnt seem to work - I have tried the menu options many times but I think the service menu's must have been removed from 4.4.2 or I am doing something wrong.
Is there a way to simply unlock the phone so it will accept a SIM card from any Network?
Thanks again,
S
Changing ROMs won't do anything. Carrier locking is contained in a different part of the phone's firmware.
Contact EE and tell them you need an unlock code.

Rec'd update to 5.0 on ATT Note 3 today

I just received an OTA update on my AT&T Note 3. I now have Android version 5.0, broadband version N900AUCUEOC1, kernel version 3.4.0-4335446. Surprised. I heard the Note 4 was getting 5.0 today, but I didn't expect it on my Note 3.
Any idea how to get the update if I'm not on my original carrier (AT&T) ? I am not sure they will push it over Cricket even though they own it!
Yeah baby

Don't ye worry, here are some XDA basics:
1. The big Android OEMs make several versions of their phones which have different bands and 3/4G frequencies. That is not the only difference. I have a Note 3 N9005, you have Note 3 N900A. They look the same, feel the same, made by the same OEM.
When you begin tinkering with their software, you should consider them as ABSOLUTELY different devices. Your variant is rooted in a different way from mine. Your phone supports different ROMs from mine.
That's why for Samsung phones (especially) there are 4 to 5 actual forums, one for the international version(s) of the phone, and one for each US carrier. And the Verizon and AT&T Samsung phones usually have locked bootloaders and are difficult to achieve even root access on them.
2. Read before you flash anything, read the WHOLE threads.
And when you think you're ready for action, read it all over again.
THEN consider doing stuff.

If you don't have ATT sim you just can get an update. You need to go to the general section there is a thread for phone update without sim.
Here is the OP instructions
"After much searching, I found the way to upgrade to Android 6.0 MM without a sim, the solution came from a group of reddit, a guy named rmrf.
Before you started this steps , its important that you have on 10o Version if you are on 10i or other , y recommend you flash 10o first ,Guide Here
1. Download the Android 6.0 MM OTA file, Thanks to Shinji257 or here(Mirror)
2.Unzip the file, and you get a dlpkgfile file rename it to 20N.up
3.Copy 20N.up file to /sdcard/SoftwareUpdate/ path on internal memory phone not external SD card (if folder doesn't exist, just create it)
4. Connected the phone with USB Debugging Activated , open a new CMD window and run
check if you device appear listed
Run this:
4.Run this command in adb shell:
Update should now start.
Do not forget to give thanks. :good:
"
Go to the thread to download the file.

If the zip file is on the sdcard it will automatically find/select it after local upgrade
If you have the t mobile variant you won't have this option.

Are u saying that the system can be updated only after i change the stock firmware to international? is there no other way? And is it even worth upgrading this time? Thanks in advance

You should probably reply to Post #5, as that person made the statement that the option wasn't available on the T-Mob version, as they might know more. I was just clarifying what he meant by "variant" as that term confused another user.
Is your phone rooted? That is the only reason I can see for wanting to use the local upgrade option.

Will rebranded tmobile oneplus 7 pro work on verizon?

If I rebrand a tmobile oneplus 7 pro will it work on verizon? The tmobile used oneplus 7 pros are usually cheaper so if I can I will probably buy one.

I'm using one on Verizon and it's pretty painless.
I followed these instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/how-to-convert-tmobile-op7-to-t3935947
I'm running TWRP and Magisk, using Oxygen Updater to download full OTAs and then flashing with the normal global version instructions and it works just fine.

To verify, you're using a GM1915 on Verizon without issue? If so that's awesome cause sooo many people say it should work, but I've have such a hard time finding anyone who's actually got it working lol
It looks like the OP7 Pro GM1915 I got is already unlocked?

If that's the case, I just need to flash the international firmware using the guide you linked and then I'm good to activate the phone on Verizon?
I know there are a couple things to make sure are enabled on my Verizon account (CDMA-less Device Provisioning and HD Calling), but as far as the OP7 Pro goes, that's all I'd need to do? Also I don't know if those 2 features automatically enable now or something since the thread I found about it was from a year ago and it was happening with the GM1917 Global/US version, so it was a Verizon issue I think.
Rebrand t-mobile oneplus 7 pro
Yes! I got a T-Mobile OP7 off FB Market place
It was already sim unlocked and I used for a few weeks then came across the post about the rebrand and tryed it. It worked great, just wish that I had did more research and rooted and TWRP when I did it.
