Front Camera issues - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody
I upgradedmy Honor 6 + PE-TL 10 to Lollipop with the official ROM B324.
All seems to work well except the front camera. In the Camera App , if I switch from the rear to the front camera it hangs. In the mirror app nothing is shown. With the original release 4.4.2 all worked.
Any ideas or updates for the camera app?
Thank yoiu

install the google Camera and test it , if it works try a facotry reset and try with the stock camera

I tried. It seems to be dead. Really strange because I did the update on friday and until thursday all was ok!

Solutions given here:
Use your warranty.
Change the camera.
Take a component out that doesn't let the camera focus.
Is the lens dirty? It seems worse if it is dirty.

I also have the focus issue. No rom, modem, or software update fixes it. It seems to be a physical issue. I can gently tap the side of the phone while in the camera app and the camera starts auto-focusing correctly again (for a little while). I'm ordering a new camera to replace it soon.

Camera won't focus anymore after unlocked bootloader

Well, my z3 6653 camera won't focus anymore. I tried the drm restoration patch and actually works, restores everything except the tap to focus function.
Any advices or tutorials to fix the issue?
Thanks a lot.
Same here with d6653.
The front camera works fine though.
Haven't found a solution anywhere for it...
And seems like there isnt one.

Front facing camera isses - HTC Camera app

Hey everybody,
I'm having a weird issue with my U11 Life - the stock HTC Camera app doesn't save photos taken with front facing camera. It gets stuck in the Processing stage - with or without HDR Boost, 12 or 16 MPx resolution, same effect.
The selfie videos are just fine and other apps are working perfectly well, but I can only get 4MPx resolution for the photos .
Was wondering if anyone has a similar issue.
HTC U11 Life EU Android One, 64GB/4GB
HTC Camera app v. 9.30.1009003
Stock ROM, December 1 Security Update.
I have the same problem
HTC U11 Life (EU, German) 32GB/3GB
HTC Stock Camera App version: 9.30.1009003
Security Update: 1.December.2017
Stock Rom.
It is the same here with November security patch. I think it depends on the update of 30th December.
BTW. Wich Build number do you have after security update?

Same problem here. I installed the Google camera and that works well.
Update 5 jan 2018:
I contacted HTC Support and they suggested to restore the default settings in the camera app. I also cleared the memory of the app. All this worked for me.
In the meantime, the camera app also got a update so what brought the solution...?
Thanks a lot, everybody!
Contacted HTC about the issue, waiting for the answer. If they come up with something useful will post here. Using Open Camera for now, will give Google camera a try

Hi!
Could you please share if HTC provided any useful reply? I have a similar issue. The HTC support advised to clear cache and data, check in safe mode and finally reset factory data. None of that solved the problem. So now they ask to send the device to their service centre.
January 4, 2018 update for the HTC Camera app fixed the issue.

I got my phone in early March but wasn't alerted to any security updates. After reading this thread, I manually checked for an update and saw that there was one dated January 1st. This update solved the front-facing pic saving issue. I don't know what Android version I had before this update, but it now shows that it's 8.0.0.
I forgot about xda-developers forums and luckily, my friend reminded me of them so I joined today. I appreciate the help! :good:

Camera not working on redmi note 7s

My phone is not starting the rear camera, gives an error message saying that it has failed to connect to camera, did hardware check and it failed, what could the problem be?

Did you check if the camera works in CIT? If not check if your rear camera works there. To get into CIT mode you have to go into settings and click on about phone and click on Kernel version 4 times. This will put you into an app called FQC Test, scroll down and you will find back camera, test both Master and Vice camera. If the camera doesn't work there then it is most likely a hardware issue and you will have to send your phone back to Xiaomi. If the camera does work then it the Camera app that's glitching out and you just have to clear the cache and the data of the camera app. Tell me if this fixes your issue and makes your camera work without displaying error messages.

This isn't the forum for Redmi Note S but still...
This is probably a hardware issue but in the rare case that this has something to do with the software, try formatting the device and reinstalling MIUI. If that doesn't work try a different cam like Gcam. If that doesn't help try a custom ROM and if that also doesn't help I highly suggest you give the service centre a visit.

I have done the test and it failed on a few cameras, master back failed, vice back passed, front passed, twin back failed, so am guessing its a hardware problem

Oh yes, sure do report back..
It's not the same the SOC is different and if you tested it in CIT and it failed it's better to call the customer care and report your problem there.

There is a dedicated forum for your device, do check for further solutions there.
Also give a visit to the service centre, this is probably covered under warranty

Camera bug

Hi to everyone. I have a issue: when I switch to wide angle or front camera it takes 3 secons before switching, and in video mode when I switch to wide angle it freeze the app, and when I click the super stabilization icon it freeze also. After a reboot I don't have these issues, but after a while it come back.
Someone with the same bugs? I hope that can be all fix with a software update.
Cheers
Everything fine here. It takes about <1sec to change cameras. If I keep changing them very quickly after 5/6 times it freezes for a little bit
Could you try gcam: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1343/ and see if you have the same problem?

hi there, i have the same issue, i have also updated to the latest miui. reboot fixes it but it will come back
Hello. I have problems with the camera with both stability and autofocus. I reset the system 2 times and finally understood the problem. If 1080 60p video is selected, the camera works poorly in af and stability. The problem also does it with Gcam. 60p must be disabled. In both video and pro mode 60p must be disabled. restart the app.
I'm "glad" that I'm not the only one with this issues.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon, because it affects face unlock also :/

I have the exactly same problems that you have.
For 24hrs camera worked fine. Then suddenly all the bugs mentioned above returns. Now I tried to disable face unlock, maybe somehow it affects camera app. I'll update you.
Hi to all! I have an important update for the camera bug.
I tried to deactivate the face unlock and reboot, and now almost 1 week with no problems mentioned on my thread! So it's seems that face unlock is the problem. Try for yourself
Cheers

Nope. I sent an email directly to Poco, and they answered me in 24hrs. Then after I discovered this workaround, I told them and reply in 3 hrs. So I think it's better to send an email
Hi, I have had the same type of problem for a few days. the main lens autofocus bug, but the ultra wide angle works. I have tried your previous advice without success for the moment. I continue the research ...

Hello, I bought the X3 2 days ago and I'm too having the same issues with the camera app. How's your phone did it got fixed, by the way I'm using the indian variant which has extra battery and no NFC. The camera bugs are the same you have mentioned. It's scary that this issue still persists even after a month from the phone launch. Is there any way to fix it? Please tell so.

Yes, I have tried that fix by disabling face unlock. And after a day, i have not seen this bug. Disabling face unlock helps. But I would like to use face unlock at the same time. The question is why POCO still haven't sent update fixing this month old crucial issue??

I do not think that poco officials read this thread so maybe you sent them an e-mail and ask about this issue.
