even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

You can unlock it here I can tell you it works because i have unlocked my Sprint galaxy s6 edge and lte works no problem, you just have to make two apns for lte. it is 35$ to unlock.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G

I have an account with T-Mobile, I have my parents there with the iPhones 5s, I just popped in my T-Mobile sim card into my Verizon HTC One M8 and I get LTE and everything! everything works fine! I don't know if this is suppose to happen, I'm actually shocked that Verizon didn't carrier lock this phone.
I am leaving T-Mobile little by little but if anyone is wondering if it works with other carriers, well add T-Mobile to the yes list.

I don't see any issues with calls, mms, sms as long as we switch to GSM/UMTS but the only thing is that we lose LTE in exchange for sms/mms

Just found this video and ran through the comments. Someone addressed it and the person who made the video said they have everything working on T-Mobile including SMS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJwqFersSoo
The person that posted the video said sending SMS is not working for him either.
Ouch, I stand corrected at this point. When I tested it yesterday, it worked. I surfed, and got messages. HOWEVER, I did not respond to those messages lol. I was recording a new video...so with that being said, yes you are right at this point...it does not work. It works perfectly fine on my other Verizon phones that I use on T-Mobile.

I really hope there's a fix for this. Or I'll have to wait until TMo starts selling this phone.

I think once we have root there will be a fix for sending SMS on T-Mobile with LTE. Most likely a gremlin with the APN settings.
Today I tried 4G on my Nexus 5 & Note 3. So I went somewhere that it has 4G/LTE coverage
The problem????
I am on COSMOTE GR (Greece) and tried with my Note 3 the 4G. The signal was excellent (WITH NOTE 3!!!)
On Nexus 5, with the same sim card, I couldn't receive 4G (I am on Stock Rom. Also tried with SlimKat 6.0)
Any help??

Well, once your sim goes into a phone that phone will show up on your account. Then you need to go to my devices and then apps and services and add HD voice. You might need to upgrade your sim too.

I bet Verizon says it is because the phone was not certified by them and as such they don't guarantee any features to work and blah blah blah when in reality it is probably their computers automatically unchecking a box on your customer record to guarantee the system will never let your device utilize the features

Post #99 in the Verizon thread.. He posted a bunch of info on communications with HTC, Verizon, and AT&T.
Really slow lte on mine too..looks like only band 13
Band 13 only here in Virginia.
Band 13 in Syracuse. Went back to my 10 and getting 4 consistently.
Stuck on band 13 here in Columbia, SC too. Band 4 works fine on my old One M8. HTC support has been extremely unhelpful. They keep pushing me off on Verizon. If this isn't sorted out before my return window is up this thing is going back.
"Thanks for the account verification. The HTC u11 is not capable with LTE Advanced https://t.co/JueO1hTCbK. Since this is a non-Verizon device, we can not guarantee that all features will work when comparing to a Verizon device. ^ZY
In order to use LTE Advanced, the device will need a carrier update. The HTC u11 may not be able to get the update since it is a non-Verizon device. Verizon LTE Advanced-capable devices already have the necessary hardware and software. LTE Advanced uses software to combine two or three channels – a combination of 700 MHz, AWS, and PCS spectrum to provide peak speeds. ^ZY"

Same here in Miami. Only Band 13, when my s8+ used Band 4 in the same areas.

Since I've had a few people messaging me asking about VoLTE, I'll just post here. Please feel free to add whichever carrier(s) you may have tried VoLTE on.
T-Mobile does have VoLTE support with the Nokia 9 PureView.

Thanks for the T-Mobile VoLTE confirmation. Showing the settings window, and showing your in call status window while viewing the call connection icons with VoLTE On and Off was perfectly done! :good:
What at&t? Anyone tested?
No luck on Freedom in Canada.
Straight Talk (At&t sim) VOLTE working!

Ok thanks!
I was hoping the int'l variant would have VoLTE too, but oh well. At least the U.S. variant does! :good::victory:
Works fine on AT&T in the US
Has anyone had an issue with At&t VoLTE and 4G LTE not being displayed? I've had the phone since release and when I first put my sim card in and turned it on, I had VoLTE and 4G LTE. After At&t customer service updated my imei to the sim card, I lost both and my phone would only connect to 3G. I have gotten it to go back and going to the At&t store and them updating my imei with a LG phone and then doing a factory reset. I then lost it again because I had to do another factory reset to restore my phone apps and settings. Right now, my phone says 4G LTE but doesn't say VoLTE like it use to and I feel like my reception poor now. I have spoke to several At&t reps and they all are saying that its because the Nokia 9 isn't recognized in their system and automatically sets it to a 2G device.

At&t had to update my imei in their system because my voicemail wasn't working and they said I had an imei mismatch
If anyone cares, all 3 major carriers in Australia (or Sydney at least) support VoLTE. Tested on Vodafone, Telstra, and Optus.
No German provider would be supported
UK EE VoLTE and WiFi Calling works fine.
hi can someone upload the new modem.img V4.27C need to see if they have new volte carriers thanks

It's a shame that in Germany things get complicated when it comes to these "new technologies".
Funny fact,on my OnePlus 3 costar does at least work, but not on my Nokia 9
Gesendet von meinem Nokia 9 mit Tapatalk
Still no support in Germany for any Carrier for any Nokia Phone.
I guess I'm done with Nokia. The 9 is ok, but Camera, Finger Print and no VoLTE/WiFi Calling are not working properly.
I think the Pixel is the next Phone.

In Poland T-Mobile support VoLTE and VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) for Nokia 9. Orange and Vodafone (Plus) don't.
So per another thread there was a discussion re 5g
A user suggested that they were using a particular APN with the following changes:
It should say MVNO type, and MVNO value.
MVNO TYPE: GID
MVNO Value: 53FF
I can't seem to make any APN changes to my existing NXTGYNPHONE apn nor when I add a new one will it stick
Any one know a workaround??
I added an additional APN and it stuck. My phone is from AT&T.

This is the APN I brought up in the other post the OPnwas referring too. To be able to use this APN you have to be on Unlimited Starter, extra, or Elite plans for consumer. And you have to have have your 5G device IMEI updated in ATTs system(I am an employee and have been fixing issues from improper 5G setup)

Here you go.
Can you share the exact APN settings to use? The link for an image a few posts back is not working for me - I would like to add this APN and then if necessary, contact ATT support about provisioning .....
thanks
Thanks guys for bumping this forward. I live in an area where there's probably no 5G anyway but next week I will be in an area where I know there will be 5G

Weirdest thing. I make the new APN click save and it disappears ????

If I'm not provisioned properly would that be why when I try to add an APN it just disappears?
Ok I found out what makes it disappears
Any changes I try to make it as to the last two entries
Mobile Virtual Network ........
Causes the APN to disappear when I try to save it
I have noticed this behavior with past Android phones when attempting to add an APN that is restricted by the carrier (AT&T)
I.e. I am on a 2G phone attempting to add a 3G APN (wap.cingular to phone)
3G phone attempting to add a 4G APN (phone to nxtgenphone)
4G phone attempting to add a 5G APN (nxtgenphone to enhancedphone)
In all cases, behavior was as described. The system appeared to allow the APN but it would disappear upon entry. Note that if you alter the spelling in any way (try to add enhancedphon for example) the system will allow you.
Appears to be a feature check similar to Mobile Hotspot being disallowed without the proper feature codes in the system.
Update the plan to a 5G capable plan / update the IMEI to a 5G capable device and you'll get access to that APN.
Note that with the current iteration of 5G on AT&T (low band only), LTE-A is performing better in most cases...
So I'm starting to wonder, what was the point buying a 5G phone if we don't have the option to to change from Nextgen phone??

Wow...you were spot on. Called At&t and they did not setup device properly and I was on the wrong service plan

If you are on At&t you may have to call just as previous poster said. They didn't bother to provision correctly when I activated device nor was I on correct plan.

I totally regret having my phone provisioned for 5G...lol. calls are not clear at all..there is a slight crackle that wasn't there before.

Can you manually change back to the other APN and make it better?
Once I add the Nextgenphone Apn..like you said I can't change the last 2 options. If I try they do not stick. I can go back to that but have to keep GID and 53fff I think it is. Hopefully it was just the person I was talking to. Going to test more today

I called and had to get my account reprovisioned as well. Crazy that I had the S20 for months and my account was never properly 5g provisioned.
So far I noticed no difference in the call quality. I'll keep you updated.
Also attached are my APNs now without even rebooting.

Have you tried to download the "Samsung Band Selection" app from Google Play and set it to "LTE ALL"?
