Today I tried 4G on my Nexus 5 & Note 3. So I went somewhere that it has 4G/LTE coverage
The problem????
I am on COSMOTE GR (Greece) and tried with my Note 3 the 4G. The signal was excellent (WITH NOTE 3!!!)
On Nexus 5, with the same sim card, I couldn't receive 4G (I am on Stock Rom. Also tried with SlimKat 6.0)
Any help??

for me, lte always works reliably, i never ever see 3G or edge. speeds around 60mbps here.
in the phone settings, mobile networks, do you have lte as the preferred network?

that will take you to hidden phone codes. chose phone info, then scroll down, youll find a type of connection that you are on, press that. choose lte only. this way it will avoid the other connections. if you do get an lte signal, change it to lte/gsm(or you wont get phone calls). if it doesnt connect to lte, then either the n5 doesnt support your carrier, or your provider
hasnt set up lte for your n5 account. your note 3, did you try the same sim card as you n5?

not your country, your provider. it could be that they space out their towers a bit further away than us providers. that would make it not as reliable.

Hi.
My nexus 5 is driving me crazy.
All of a sudden it stopped getting 3G or 4G LTEnetwork. It just stayed in 2G (EDGE).
I called the carrier support, they don't know what to do.
This sim works fine in other phones.
Other sims also do not get 3g or 4g network on this phone.
I switched my sim, enbled 4G service and nada.
It seems the phone can't see the 3g or 4g networks.
If i go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and force the network type to LTE and then search for mobile networks it doesn't find any.
Same for WDCMA only.
If i set it to LTE preferred, WCDMA preferred or LTE/GSM auto (PRL) it finds the network and it connects in 2G EDGE.
I've done a full reset, flashed stock, tried several radios, nothing.
Im in Portugal and my carrier is Optimus.
If i go to the "Select radio band" option in that menu it only shows "USA BAND".
Is it suposed to be like that?
Also, when i reboot my phone in the notification area i get a notification saying: "Restricted access changed". I never got that before when the 3g connection was working.

Change it back to "GSM/LTE". Then go to the APN settings and make sure that they're correct. That's the most common fix. I don't know what your carrier is, so I can't tell you the settings, but you can probably find them somewhere.
Worst case, flash the factory image and see if it still happens.

I want to know how good is your signal strength, with data turned on and off. My One has terrible signal strength in the GTA, where there are plenty of Bell Towers. I don't know if this is a hardware issue, or a software issue with CM11s 33r. I would like to know your experiences.
Don't know about the GTA but in Montreal, i get full signal bars and full LTE outside. Inside it can go down to one bar.
Hi,
I'm with Rogers in montreal and the 3G is very good, similar to my old nexus 3, but LTE is low in most places and easy lost inside of buildings. Also it doesn't switch fast when lost LTE. Since I don't use data very much, I leave it on 3G and I put the LTE togle in the status bar to swith it if Ineed fast data (and if I got a signal of course). Try to put it on 3G if your reception is very low. I check on the web ant this problem is common with all LTE phones because there are less towers with LTE than 3G.

Hi - Using Rogers in the North York area I am pleasantly surprised how well the OPO picks up signal. My older iPhone 5 had less reception, though it may have at times shown more signal bars. The OPO has been good signal wise in the GTA for me on Rogers.

strange, on average I get 1 bar inside, 2 bars outside.
There's actually a Canadian OnePlus One thread already, check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/canadian-oneplus-owners-t2885996
I live in the GTA and Markham, always full bars of LTE downtown, but occassionally 2 bars LTE. I always have H+ wherever I go, but when I take the GO Train, occasionally I would be on GPRS (2G). In the University I am stuck on H+ but sometimes 1-2 bars LTE.
I don't get bad signal at all. 33R modem.

Chinese OPO or International OPO?
I ask because of the preloaded modem built into the phone. If you came with Chinese OPO, just flash the latest modem on your phone using fastboot a few times to make sure you wipe off the original ColorOS modem.
Works on my friend's OPO too, and he's on Rogers. He's got great signal now.

Go into fastboot and flash the modems in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/ref-oneplus-one-modem-collection-t2858734
Try them out, look at the chart at the bottom to compare which ones you should try. Same colors mean you only need to try each color once. This does not go the same for 33R and CM11 M8. They have different CRC32's so treat them differently.

I don't think you should, modems aren't chips that easily go bad just like that.

Hi All
I'm having trouble connecting to 4g (band 20) in the UK with my MT7-TL10 european, gold version.
Has anyone else had similar issues, can someone shed some light?
I've spoken to Tesco Mobile and they have confirmed my sim/tariff is setup for 4g. Also called Huawei, and they checked my model via IMEI no. and said it should have a 4g signal with the network I'm on. I tried it with an EE sim and received a 4g signal instantly.
Thanks

Well if you bump into anyone with an o2/vodafone sim, try the sim out to see if you get 4g. I'm sure you'd also like to know if your phone supports all the bands it's suppose to...
I'm curious as to whether it is just my Mate 7 or like this with all european MT7-TL10 phones. Where did you buy your phone, if you don't mind me asking?

even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

thanks. i'll try that when I get a chance.
I was using these same APNs...
i'll probably have to try it where there's a stronger T-Mo signal. i'm usually on Edge at home with my other devices.

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G

I also am having problems with getting 4G LTE to work on T-Mobile. My sprint S6 edge+ is domestically unlocked for GSM. I'm able to get 3G to work while in GSM/UMTS mode, but will not work in "Automatic". Please help ;(
Anyone with issues getting band 4? At home I always have it but am stuck on band 13. Any suggestions?
The app LTE discovery will let you know what band your on.
It's good to see someone has it on Verizon. Mine won't connect to the network at all.

Did you take your sim from an active phone on your Verizon account? Have hd voice added on as extra service?
Problem for me is HTC's site says it has band 4 which is xlte for Verizon. It won't recognize band 4.

Ok. On Verizon's site the added service is HD voice. Maybe you know someone with a phone that will be compatible and pop your sim in to get HD voice added on your account.

The Verizon associate popped it into his own phone and tried it, but the phone probably has to be actually added to the account I'm thinking cuz it didn't work.

Well, once your sim goes into a phone that phone will show up on your account. Then you need to go to my devices and then apps and services and add HD voice. You might need to upgrade your sim too.
I don't mind helping out but I'm trying to find out if anyone has been able to get band 4 on their U11. Each thing I've said you negate it like you know the answer. This thread was specifically made for my question.

Sorry it got off topic. I'll let you know when I can actually use it. Apparently 6P had it so I swapped with my mom's phone and was able to add hd to my line. If it works I'll let you know what band I'm getting.

Well that sucks. That means lower speeds, another crippling of a great phone.
Curious as to where you got the answer and if there is any reasoning behind it.
Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
I bet Verizon says it is because the phone was not certified by them and as such they don't guarantee any features to work and blah blah blah when in reality it is probably their computers automatically unchecking a box on your customer record to guarantee the system will never let your device utilize the features

Come on brother, don't leave us in suspense, where did you get the info.
I've downloaded the LTE Discovery app onto my HTC 10 and I'm trying to use it to see if there is Band 4 around my area, before I try out the U11.

Post #99 in the Verizon thread.. He posted a bunch of info on communications with HTC, Verizon, and AT&T.
Really slow lte on mine too..looks like only band 13
Band 13 only here in Virginia.
Band 13 in Syracuse. Went back to my 10 and getting 4 consistently.
Stuck on band 13 here in Columbia, SC too. Band 4 works fine on my old One M8. HTC support has been extremely unhelpful. They keep pushing me off on Verizon. If this isn't sorted out before my return window is up this thing is going back.
"Thanks for the account verification. The HTC u11 is not capable with LTE Advanced https://t.co/JueO1hTCbK. Since this is a non-Verizon device, we can not guarantee that all features will work when comparing to a Verizon device. ^ZY
In order to use LTE Advanced, the device will need a carrier update. The HTC u11 may not be able to get the update since it is a non-Verizon device. Verizon LTE Advanced-capable devices already have the necessary hardware and software. LTE Advanced uses software to combine two or three channels – a combination of 700 MHz, AWS, and PCS spectrum to provide peak speeds. ^ZY"
Guys this is what i got after talking to VZW CS

Same here in Miami. Only Band 13, when my s8+ used Band 4 in the same areas.
