LTE band 4 working on Verizon? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Anyone with issues getting band 4? At home I always have it but am stuck on band 13. Any suggestions?
The app LTE discovery will let you know what band your on.

It's good to see someone has it on Verizon. Mine won't connect to the network at all.

Did you take your sim from an active phone on your Verizon account? Have hd voice added on as extra service?
Problem for me is HTC's site says it has band 4 which is xlte for Verizon. It won't recognize band 4.

Ok. On Verizon's site the added service is HD voice. Maybe you know someone with a phone that will be compatible and pop your sim in to get HD voice added on your account.

The Verizon associate popped it into his own phone and tried it, but the phone probably has to be actually added to the account I'm thinking cuz it didn't work.

Well, once your sim goes into a phone that phone will show up on your account. Then you need to go to my devices and then apps and services and add HD voice. You might need to upgrade your sim too.
I don't mind helping out but I'm trying to find out if anyone has been able to get band 4 on their U11. Each thing I've said you negate it like you know the answer. This thread was specifically made for my question.

Sorry it got off topic. I'll let you know when I can actually use it. Apparently 6P had it so I swapped with my mom's phone and was able to add hd to my line. If it works I'll let you know what band I'm getting.

Well that sucks. That means lower speeds, another crippling of a great phone.
Curious as to where you got the answer and if there is any reasoning behind it.

I bet Verizon says it is because the phone was not certified by them and as such they don't guarantee any features to work and blah blah blah when in reality it is probably their computers automatically unchecking a box on your customer record to guarantee the system will never let your device utilize the features

Come on brother, don't leave us in suspense, where did you get the info.
I've downloaded the LTE Discovery app onto my HTC 10 and I'm trying to use it to see if there is Band 4 around my area, before I try out the U11.

Post #99 in the Verizon thread.. He posted a bunch of info on communications with HTC, Verizon, and AT&T.

Really slow lte on mine too..looks like only band 13

Band 13 only here in Virginia.

Band 13 in Syracuse. Went back to my 10 and getting 4 consistently.

Stuck on band 13 here in Columbia, SC too. Band 4 works fine on my old One M8. HTC support has been extremely unhelpful. They keep pushing me off on Verizon. If this isn't sorted out before my return window is up this thing is going back.

"Thanks for the account verification. The HTC u11 is not capable with LTE Advanced https://t.co/JueO1hTCbK. Since this is a non-Verizon device, we can not guarantee that all features will work when comparing to a Verizon device. ^ZY
In order to use LTE Advanced, the device will need a carrier update. The HTC u11 may not be able to get the update since it is a non-Verizon device. Verizon LTE Advanced-capable devices already have the necessary hardware and software. LTE Advanced uses software to combine two or three channels – a combination of 700 MHz, AWS, and PCS spectrum to provide peak speeds. ^ZY"
Guys this is what i got after talking to VZW CS

Same here in Miami. Only Band 13, when my s8+ used Band 4 in the same areas.

Verizon HTC One M8 on T-Mobile

I have an account with T-Mobile, I have my parents there with the iPhones 5s, I just popped in my T-Mobile sim card into my Verizon HTC One M8 and I get LTE and everything! everything works fine! I don't know if this is suppose to happen, I'm actually shocked that Verizon didn't carrier lock this phone.
I am leaving T-Mobile little by little but if anyone is wondering if it works with other carriers, well add T-Mobile to the yes list.

I'm actually having this problem as well. I'm only getting HSPA when switching to GSM/UMTS because it's the only way I can send sms/mms without it giving me problems
I've tried playing around with the APN settings but I'm not sure if we are all using the same settings?

I don't see any issues with calls, mms, sms as long as we switch to GSM/UMTS but the only thing is that we lose LTE in exchange for sms/mms
When I leave the original network settings with Verizon APN I get LTE and I'm able to receive text messages. But I can't send!

Are you using default sms app or 3rd party app like handcent, gosms....
If that is the case I will be selling mine to pick up a T-Mobile version or Developer edition.
Don't want to switch back and forth to get messages.

Just found this video and ran through the comments. Someone addressed it and the person who made the video said they have everything working on T-Mobile including SMS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJwqFersSoo
The person that posted the video said sending SMS is not working for him either.
Ouch, I stand corrected at this point. When I tested it yesterday, it worked. I surfed, and got messages. HOWEVER, I did not respond to those messages lol. I was recording a new video...so with that being said, yes you are right at this point...it does not work. It works perfectly fine on my other Verizon phones that I use on T-Mobile.

I really hope there's a fix for this. Or I'll have to wait until TMo starts selling this phone.

I think once we have root there will be a fix for sending SMS on T-Mobile with LTE. Most likely a gremlin with the APN settings.

[Q] Tried to Setup Spark - Now No LTE At All

Got my new Play Store N5 this week and got it all setup rooted and ROM'd, but I realized yesterday that I wasn't setup correctly to use Sprint's tri-band LTE Spark. It had been connecting to LTE fine on one band, but I wanted to see if the extra two would help increase speeds and maybe some coverage, so I followed a guide I found on here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/sprint-tri-band-activation-help-t2515798
Now my phone won't connect to LTE at all. I've called Sprint and even stopped in at one of their repairs stores, but I can't stand being asked to restart my phone or hit update profile again after about 20 times already. One of the techs even said I need to get a new phone!
Can anyone help with this? Would reflashing the stock image help at all? Was the tech right, do I really need a new phone?

I've tried reverting them to no avail, plus they seem to change whenever I update my profile/PRL. But if you could post what you have them set to (especially if you are using Spark) that would be fantastic.

How does Sprint roll out updates for the N5? Is it just through profile updates? Buying from the Play Store, I will never receive an OTA from Sprint, right?

To be honest I'm not sure of the "how" of it. I just read an article, a little while back, saying they were going to do an update to activate spark on their devices.
Edit: And you shouldn't have an issue receiving it since you're connected to Sprint service.

Sprint submits the changes they want to Google and Google incorporates it into their Android updates. LG and Sprint had long ago fixed whatever their issue was with the Spark update rolled out for the LG G2 in late jan/early feb so it's mainly up to Google now to push the update.
As the Nexus 5 is not native to Sprint and is basically the phone for the entire North American region, Google will not push an update just for one specific carrier. Thus we Nexus 5 users on Sprint have waited over 5 months for the next Google Android update which will enable B26/ B41 (aka Spark).
p.s. Availability of band 25 PCS 1900 LTE tends to screw with non Spark updated phones.
I followed the steps in the post linked in the first reply (used Method 2, Method 1 kept failing fastboot halfway through) and reset my phone back to stock. But it still doesn't want to connect to Sprint's LTE. I even played around with the LTE radio settings again in the hope of enabling Spark and nada.
Would it have been possible to corrupt the phone software totally while doing this to begin with? Do I need to send it back? (and on that note, you have no idea how frustrating it is to explain to a Sprint rep on the phone that you bought the phone from Google online. Such a foreign concept to them!) Could the SIM card have gotten corrupted and I just need a new one of those?

Update: So after downloading the necessary files to my laptop at work, I followed the procedures to reflash to stock again this morning. It came up as failed activation at first, but after hitting update profile and rebooting the phone, I'm back on LTE again. And after checking Android Central this morning, it seems like I should just wait for Google to fix my Spark issues...
http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-nexus-5-update-pushing-out-added-spark
So tempted to roll back into the Sprint store that told me I needed a new phone and shove my LTE-enabled phone in their faces.

LTE not working

Hi,
I've the verizon m8 outside the Us. In my country the LTE network has started to work during the past week and its 1800 mhz/ channel 3.
My htc is s-off, root ofcourse, viper rom but I cant get any reception with LTE!
accordint to htc sites, the verison m8 is truely support 1800 mhz,
So how can I get lte on my phone?
And please don't blow my mind with "why did you bought verizon model if you're not using verizon", It doesn't matter now. I've already bought my m8 and it's from verizon, it was cheaper to buy.
Nobody knows?
Europe freinds?
I'm almost in the same boat as you, I'm using Verizon m8, rooted, soff, supercid and then I installed android revolution hd 8.1 international version. I got lte band 4 working ok as well as calls, sms, mms, e.t.c.
Sent from my C811 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've also tried to flash the WWE radio on my verizon m8 but after 1-2 minte the device got reboot again and again, so flashing radio didn't help.
Nobody has a solution? Verizon said the the m8 support 1800 mhz - band 3, so there must be a way to enable it.

Hey,
Just got back from Europe. I wasn't able to get LTE over there, only hsupa/hsdpa. I installed nv rom and was able to change the bands, and got my data working. Now that I'm back in the U.S. (as of 12 horus ago), I'm unable to get service, go figure. I was using the newest verizon radios and they worked fine.

Hi (shalom
I have went through many specs for our device, and

In the verizon M8.
It only appears on HTC site. So it seems the phone doesn't support this

Shalom Thanks for your help, this is also what I think, but i really want to believe that the offical HTC site post this information about band 3 for a reason and that is not just a mistake, ofr now it seems like it's a verison setting as of my opinion.

Shalom Thanks for your help, this is also what I think, but i really want to believe that the offical HTC site post this information about band 3 for a reason and that is not just a mistake, ofr now it seems like it's a verison setting as of my opinion.

Iv tried nv, it didn't give the option to change for the 1800 band only 1900, or 800. So it didn't work, not that I had much hope.
htc chat
hi
talked with htc chat today and got this reply:
Well, I just found that's some restriction about Verizon (It seems like), because the Phone is made to work on 1800 Hz. Also I'll recommend to you that contact Verizon Tech Support 866-221-4096 for further information –
im not a verizon cutomer.
dont think they will give me support.
is there here someone who is willing to call them?

I'm also not a customer of them but I've already spoke to them once (with different problem) and they were very nice. I don't have problem to call them (although it will take me some days to set up my google voice account again) but what should i say to them? They will probably sai that they don't know what I'm talking about, or that he verizon m8 is perfect and send down from god and the problem is my carrier
---Edit---
I'm talking with verizon right now, they've transferd me from verizon to htc and than back to verizon, that really don't know what i'm talking about. anyone have any suggestion how to talk with them? they can only blame my carrier
called verizon also

i also called verizon which didnt really understand what i want - they told me to talk with HTC which told me that the verizon modem supports 1800mhz also - its probaly verizon that blocks it.
im dying here - its driving me crazy
cant believe i bought an item and trusted the specs , someone should pay for this trouble we are all going through - unbelieveable!

The truth has been spoken. It feels like nobody knows what happening in there. If i could make verizon and htc talk to each other it would be the world longest phone call.
The only thing i got from verizon is this, which is not very helpful:

Yes, I've also done that. the phone got no signal and reboot itself after 2 minutes. flashing radios doesn't work with cdma phones. I've also tryed install gpe rom (i fought that maybe the sense 6.0 has problem) also didn't work
I guess that we are screwed at the moment, and i have the feeling that is not going to be easy to find a solution...
pity that the hardware is there waiting to be used!

[Q] Nexus 5 4G not working

Today I tried 4G on my Nexus 5 & Note 3. So I went somewhere that it has 4G/LTE coverage
The problem????
I am on COSMOTE GR (Greece) and tried with my Note 3 the 4G. The signal was excellent (WITH NOTE 3!!!)
On Nexus 5, with the same sim card, I couldn't receive 4G (I am on Stock Rom. Also tried with SlimKat 6.0)
Any help??

Then I don't know why it wouldn't work.. Try different radio, maybe it will help.. for me personally 4G never works reliably on my N5.

for me, lte always works reliably, i never ever see 3G or edge. speeds around 60mbps here.
in the phone settings, mobile networks, do you have lte as the preferred network?

try this..
dial *#*#4636#*#*
that will take you to hidden phone codes. chose phone info, then scroll down, youll find a type of connection that you are on, press that. choose lte only. this way it will avoid the other connections. if you do get an lte signal, change it to lte/gsm(or you wont get phone calls). if it doesnt connect to lte, then either the n5 doesnt support your carrier, or your provider
hasnt set up lte for your n5 account. your note 3, did you try the same sim card as you n5?

not your country, your provider. it could be that they space out their towers a bit further away than us providers. that would make it not as reliable.

then its not seeing the lte signal. the sim card that you had in the note 3, is that your n5 simcard? can you try the note 3 simcard in your n5? i have a feeling that it might be your providers fault, maybe they have you entered into the system wrong. that happens, and fairly often.

even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G
