VoLTE Discussion - Which carriers work and which don't work - Nokia 9 PureView Guides, News, & Discussion

Since I've had a few people messaging me asking about VoLTE, I'll just post here. Please feel free to add whichever carrier(s) you may have tried VoLTE on.
T-Mobile does have VoLTE support with the Nokia 9 PureView.

Thanks for the T-Mobile VoLTE confirmation. Showing the settings window, and showing your in call status window while viewing the call connection icons with VoLTE On and Off was perfectly done! :good:

What at&t? Anyone tested?

No luck on Freedom in Canada.

Straight Talk (At&t sim) VOLTE working!

I was hoping the int'l variant would have VoLTE too, but oh well. At least the U.S. variant does! :good::victory:

Works fine on AT&T in the US

Has anyone had an issue with At&t VoLTE and 4G LTE not being displayed? I've had the phone since release and when I first put my sim card in and turned it on, I had VoLTE and 4G LTE. After At&t customer service updated my imei to the sim card, I lost both and my phone would only connect to 3G. I have gotten it to go back and going to the At&t store and them updating my imei with a LG phone and then doing a factory reset. I then lost it again because I had to do another factory reset to restore my phone apps and settings. Right now, my phone says 4G LTE but doesn't say VoLTE like it use to and I feel like my reception poor now. I have spoke to several At&t reps and they all are saying that its because the Nokia 9 isn't recognized in their system and automatically sets it to a 2G device.

If anyone cares, all 3 major carriers in Australia (or Sydney at least) support VoLTE. Tested on Vodafone, Telstra, and Optus.

No German provider would be supported

UK EE VoLTE and WiFi Calling works fine.

It's a shame that in Germany things get complicated when it comes to these "new technologies".
Funny fact,on my OnePlus 3 costar does at least work, but not on my Nokia 9
Gesendet von meinem Nokia 9 mit Tapatalk

Still no support in Germany for any Carrier for any Nokia Phone.
I guess I'm done with Nokia. The 9 is ok, but Camera, Finger Print and no VoLTE/WiFi Calling are not working properly.
I think the Pixel is the next Phone.

In Poland T-Mobile support VoLTE and VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) for Nokia 9. Orange and Vodafone (Plus) don't.

No 4g on MT7-TL10 european version

Hi All
I'm having trouble connecting to 4g (band 20) in the UK with my MT7-TL10 european, gold version.
Has anyone else had similar issues, can someone shed some light?
I've spoken to Tesco Mobile and they have confirmed my sim/tariff is setup for 4g. Also called Huawei, and they checked my model via IMEI no. and said it should have a 4g signal with the network I'm on. I tried it with an EE sim and received a 4g signal instantly.
Thanks

Mine is the MT7-TL10...

Yeah I tried an EE sim and 4g works, just doesn't seem to receive a 4g connection on o2 or Tesco Mobile, do you mind checking to see if either, o2 or Tesco works on yours?
Also can you tell me which firmware version your Mate 7 came installed with? Mine is B125 as shown in screenshot above.
Thanks

Well if you bump into anyone with an o2/vodafone sim, try the sim out to see if you get 4g. I'm sure you'd also like to know if your phone supports all the bands it's suppose to...
I'm curious as to whether it is just my Mate 7 or like this with all european MT7-TL10 phones. Where did you buy your phone, if you don't mind me asking?

even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G

I also am having problems with getting 4G LTE to work on T-Mobile. My sprint S6 edge+ is domestically unlocked for GSM. I'm able to get 3G to work while in GSM/UMTS mode, but will not work in "Automatic". Please help ;(

volte and T-Mobile?

anyone use this and have seen volte working? Made a few calls on mine today and the phone always drops down to 4g only.
I have put my sim card in my pixel xl and every call goes over lte.
I have also tried resetting network defaults and resetting apns and that didn't help. And all the data works perfectly fine on lte for me still though.
Any ideas?
I have the Verizon 8+ and I'm using a TMO sim as well. Mine drops to 4g too. I don't know why nor how to fix it, as all major carriers are "u" models.
*edit
I'm starting to think it's software specific because I don't have any option to video chat. It only comes up when I insert the Verizon sim in it.
Interesting. I have a button for video calling but it just fails. Does volte with if you put the Verizon sim card in?

Verizon card brings up video chat. With the TMO one in it disappears.
Side note...
I'm curious to know if i flash the TMO tar will it fix the volte and video chat issue
It doesn't surprise me that VoLTE won't work on a Verizon model, since it doesn't have the T-Mobile software. VoLTE works just fine on my T-Mobile branded S8.

I have the Verizon model and my VoLTE is working perfectly fine. Maybe if OP tries selecting HD Voice Only as opposed to HD Voice and Video Calling under Advanced Calling settings.
I have T-Mobile S8 and it does not have ant VoLTE settings. Also Video call S8->S7 does not work
Wonder if there is something goofy with the software going on.
Just downloaded the firmware from updato and looking to see if I can flash with odin.
It seems like the package is not a standard tar file I can flash all at once but seperate files like I saw with the s7.
There is also a userdata_tmb in there as well. Not sure exactly how to flash that though.
Is there any guides on exactly how to flash it yet that I might not be able to find?
Only seen basic ones that say about flashing a single file which don't really match up to what I see here.
Waiting now to see what the download from SamFirmware has as well. Need to wait about 4 hours so I will need to look at it tomorrow though.
Yeah I can't find a setting for calls with volte. I need to turn it off. Calls have always sucked for me with it on. People always tell me in breaking up whenever I have it on.
I am having the same exact issue and it's very frustrating.
In Poland it works great. VoLTE and VoWifi too but before it works I had to activate this option via sms on T-Mobile.
T-Mobile sim with T-Mobile S8+
Didn't touch any of the settings.

Dual 4G Dual VOLTE

Does oneplus 6 support Dual 4G standby and Dual VOLTE in India(i.e Two Jio sims simultaneously)?
According to my research, that would not be possible, as most smartphone dual SIM implementations are dual standby, whereas for this to work, you'd need dual active SIMs (with two separate radios), as two 4G-only (this is how JIO works, I understand) networks are unable to standby on only one radio. Unless something changed with Snapdragon 845 modem and this is now somehow technically possible, then please correct me.
What I would like to understand is, if dual VOLTE is suppososed to work on usual 3G/4G networks on the OnePlus 6.
Thank you.

Dual Volte is supported by the SD 845, but it isn't activated on the OP6 and there's no word on if it'll be activated later
It's the latest SD845 with LTE CAT 18 MODEM. So definitely it will support the Dual VOLTE

Thanks. Is this information public, otherwise how reliable is your source on this?
It seems I won't be able to test it myself yet, as even though for the first time ever my own carrier (Telia in Lithuania) is selling the device themselves, they don't support VoLTE on their network... Hoping OnePlus will sort it out and add via software update later.

Hardware support definitely available. Software support, well, remains to be seen i guess
Huawei phones already supports Dual 4G and VoLTE. It makes sense OnePlus will follow soon. Hopefully, will see the feature in OnePlus 6.
I guess it is available. Saw it in one of the review videos where the specifically mentioned that he is able to use both airtel 4g and Jio 4g at the same time.
So, I'm not that informed about the hardware and I don't even really know exactly, what you are talking about.
But to me it sounds like this post from the official AMA could be on that topic: (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...-wireless-ama-now.835469/page-9#post-18434071)
Maybe it can contribute to this discussion. If it isn't on topic, please let me know.

Hello, Audio quality via the earpiece is very crisp. Network reception is good as well, it could pick up the signal from an area which generally has poor network reception. Audio via speakerphone is adequate and you won't miss a call. About the camera, I find it better than S8 plus (I have that as well. ) I am not starting a debate but camera and audio are very subjective things and telling my opinion.
It supports Dual VOLTE!!!

I am also waiting for someone to test this. Regardless of the bands, Rogers do not always 'allow' 5G and VOLTE on their network for phones that are not officially recognized. I found this out with the Oppo FInd X5 Pro which cannot get 5G or VOLTE on Rogers. VOLTE is especially an issue as it means you cannot make phone calls if there is no 3G.
I am hoping the 12S Ultra does not have this issue and can get VOLTE.

I am hoping the 12S Ultra does not have this issue and can get VOLTE.

If you can't get VoLTE enabled by default, you can dial *#*#86583#*#* to force enable VoLTE.
Any Canadians receive their phones yet?
VoLTE working as pre activated. (Usa tmobile)
Good to knows - thanks! Would be great if someone on Rogers could also confirm.

Got mine but they sure do take their time. They are cheaper than most however. No duties.
Give a quick rundown when u got time. Does it get 5 G?
Only seen LTE+. However my area doesn't get 5G and I haven't had a chance to test it otherwise.
What carrier are you on please and do you see the VOLTE option in settings?
Rogers, but I have yet to test other options. I'm going to be unlocking bootloader and rooting.

I'm also on Rogers and have ordered the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 which has similar firmware. I'm curious whether VoLTE appears in the Settings/Mobile Network by virtue of your SIM, or whether you can enable it with the Xiaomi dialer code (disable carrier check). If not, I assume you can unlock, root with Magisk and use a VoLTE enabler module or edit your build.prop to get VoLTE. Not an issue for us yet as voice calls drop to Rogers 3G network, but when we follow suit with the Americans and shut down 3G we will need VoLTE to make voice calls over 4G (or one day 5g VoNR).
Finally got my phone. Can verify 5G works on Rogers. I'm in Winnipeg. Cheers
Canadian - bought phone from PDAPlaza - on Koodo
all is working well from a network perspective
any of y'all that have the phone, are keeping the china rom, and have any good tips on how to tune the phhone (debloating, app settings or anything else) please post for us!!
I'm still experiencing alot of little quirks here and there that I can't seem to figure out
I have an unexplained connectivity issue I can't quite put my finger on as the main quirk - like the network performance is generally good and speeds are fast but..there's these times when it seems to want to take a sec to properly connect to a server. Examples would be if I focus Discord it'll say "connecting..." for like 3-5 seconds before refreshing the content - it's a strangely long lag for something so minor. Another one is if I open my friends list in Pokemon go it's unusably slow (while it connects to the corresponding pogo server) for like...5-7 seconds then is perfectly fine. Those are just examples but there's others where it's fine once it establishes the connection but isn't in any hurry to establish it
I haven't noticed any connection issues. Most of the Chinese stuff can be installed. The only issue I have is WhatsApp isn't showing contact names. Just profile pic and phone numbers.
That's just permissions. Allow it to use contacts and you should be ok
Hi there,
May I know can We Unlock WiFi 6E(6GHz) by flashing to EU firmware?
Like the default China MIUI firmware won't support 6Ghz when it's not enabled in China, but I don't know if there's 6GHz RF and Antenna which could allow us to flash the phone to EU version, then able to connect my new router which supports WiFi 6E(6GHz).
