Just got electrocuted by charger I think - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went to unplug my fast charger from my phone and I felt a pin prick feeling on my index finger. I then looked at where the wire connects to the plastic part you plug into your phone and there's some brass wires popping out then I obviously touched. Is that a life threatening shock?

Well if you're typing this then no lol. Although a 9v battery can actually kill you it needs to be delivered directly to the heart and for more than a split second; if that happens it can cause arrhythmia. A small little shock on your finger isnt gonna be enough to do damage. Now it you were holding a wire with both hands and got shocked that could be more serious as it provides a direct route for current to travel through the body and to your heart

Throw that cable away in looks so messed up lol

That's what I was worried about. It affecting my heart. One thing though is I believe my phone was 100 percent charged so does that mean there was no current?
Sent from my SM-G920V using XDA Free mobile app

Honestly if you're worried that much you should just go see your primary care physician because people here aren't going to be able to give you good medical advice on a forum. If the phone was 100% then the current was probably dialed back as it's just keeping the phone charger up to where it is
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app

This should be in the XDA health and well being thread. If your phone was rooted at the time of the shock I think you'll be OK. Just to be on the safe side I'd update your kernel 3 times a week for the next 4 weeks.

Maybe a different usb cable???
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
If your positive its not the battery, then it's either the cable or the contacts. Try another cable first though. If it still doesnt work you have the option of going to ebay and buying a new charge port and installing yourself or calling lg if its been less then a year and they should replace it for you.

Will SIM card still work if it was dropped in water?

So I like a idiot was standing next to a pool and dropped my phone in when I pulled it out of my pocket (the phone is a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket) and needless to say, the phone is screwed. I was wondering if the SIM card is going to be dead, too? I'm going to order a Nexus 4 to replace the Skyrocket.
It definitely has a much better chance of surviving than a phone. I left a sim in my pocket once when I washed my pants and it was fine.
Also, if you want a cheap piece of crap with no support, by all means, buy the Chinese knockoff phone. If you want a premium phone with a vibrant development community and ROM updates straight from Google, stick with your Nexus 4 plan. Choice seems obvious to me

Thanks! And yeah I think I'll stick with the Nexus 4 and not the Chinese knockoff the other guy posted
I guess I have to get a new SIM anyways since the N4 takes a Micro and I think my Skyrocket used a normal sized one.
Mine did, in a similar setting. (the difference being I didn't drop it, someone else threw it into the pool.) admittedly it was a backup phone and got fried, but the sim was fine.
Just let it dry out completely at room temperature.

To be honest though, your phone might be fine as well, check some guides on salvaging a dunked phone...

Thanks for the replies guys.
Guess it doesn't really matter tbh since the phone requires a micro SD and I have a normal sized one.
You can still cut your SIM and make it a micro SIM (the one the N4 needs)
There are some tutorials on youtube
2 of my friends cut it theirselves and it works fine

Well, in theory it shouldn't, because metallic contacts of the SIM should short circuit. But it often keeps working. I drop mine in a puddle and it had no problems.
I dropped mine in a glass of beer and when i got sober, it worked just fine
Just make sure it's completely dry before testing. And don't artificially dry with hair dryer, etc. As over heating might damage.

Useless posts would not be necessary if you didn't need a certain number of posts to post in a specific forum.

If you put it in your device and you get service then yes. If you do this and get no service than no.

[S4 Active] Underwater Pictures and Video People Have Taken

For those of you who are wondering what kind of underwater photos the S4 Active takes, I figured I'd create a thread for myself and others with this phone to post some photos. Also I took a video underwater as well.
And I posted this in the other "main" S4 Active Thread, but I don't suggest going below the 1 meter mark with your phone as there is some evidence of water getting inside the phone below that mark. I had water get behind the back cover of my device (but not inside the protective seal) and also my microphone for phone calls was waterlogged for quite a few hours after swimming even after many attempts to blow it out.
nice photos
too bad i can't go under water anymore--have enough fluid in my ears already lol

wouldn't you want to suck the water out instead of blowing it into the phone?

The problem I had was with the microphone, that hole is so tiny that neither blowing or sucking really did much to get out any water that may have been inside it.

did you not notice when the phone came out of the water the microphone didnt pick up what he said because it was wet... that kinda sucks i heard it takes a bit before that stuff works again after water gets in.

The microphone on top of the phone just needs to quickly be blown out and it works fine again. The one for phone calls for me doesn't dry out as fast.

Warranty Exchange

Okay now my issue is that my G3 got affected by the wireless charging issue, AT&T agreed to replace my phone and are sending me a replacement, now my question is what does AT&T considers physical damage? I ask this because my phone has the infamous ir blaster hairline crack and the lower mic crack and i am worried that this will void my warranty if they claim it as "physical damage"
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
I doubt they'll ever even notice it. I'm a little nervous to turn mine in on the Next program but again, I don't think they look that closely. Mine is cracked around the mic.

Well i received the new phone and still haven't sent the other one back since i need to return it to stock and since they don't send you a battery with the "new" phone the i have to wait until i charge mine after my day ends to do that which i always just fall asleep jajajaja and what i did since mine is white i tried to get some nail polish or whiteout in the crack just a little bit so the crack doesn't look that noticeable and it works you just have to be patient lol

Don't do anything to it if you do they will notice that you tried to cover it up. I sent back my lgog with a hairline crack in the corner of the screen. What I did was take the box for the rma and before u put the phone in it crush the box where the defect is then put phone in bring to post office and if the say anything blame it on the post office

Sprint Galaxy S5 Hot/Burnt/Dead

Got my daughter an S5 and she had been playing a game and then downloaded Skype and the phone for super hot and shut down. Now the power button Doesnt move and it's burned inside the back cover. It wasn't even plugged in is what gets me..
This happen to anyone else? I will be going to Sprint today to see our options, not sure how it could be blamed on us but you never know..
