[S4 Active] Underwater Pictures and Video People Have Taken - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

For those of you who are wondering what kind of underwater photos the S4 Active takes, I figured I'd create a thread for myself and others with this phone to post some photos. Also I took a video underwater as well.
And I posted this in the other "main" S4 Active Thread, but I don't suggest going below the 1 meter mark with your phone as there is some evidence of water getting inside the phone below that mark. I had water get behind the back cover of my device (but not inside the protective seal) and also my microphone for phone calls was waterlogged for quite a few hours after swimming even after many attempts to blow it out.

nice photos
too bad i can't go under water anymore--have enough fluid in my ears already lol

wouldn't you want to suck the water out instead of blowing it into the phone?

The problem I had was with the microphone, that hole is so tiny that neither blowing or sucking really did much to get out any water that may have been inside it.

did you not notice when the phone came out of the water the microphone didnt pick up what he said because it was wet... that kinda sucks i heard it takes a bit before that stuff works again after water gets in.

The microphone on top of the phone just needs to quickly be blown out and it works fine again. The one for phone calls for me doesn't dry out as fast.

Front Facing Camera

Everyone was complaining that the iphone has a purple hue when the camera is pointed at bright lights. Well I just found out that the front facing camera on the galaxy s3 has the same problem. Has anyone noticed this before? I know why it happens but this is the first time I noticed it and I couldn't find anyone talking about it. I'm just happy we don't have this problem on the back camera.
I've never seen it.

I tried recreating the issue. It's not nearly as strong as yours, but it's there. I would guess that most users would find that under the right lighting conditions. It's something I wouldn't have even noticed had you not mentioned it. I don't often sit in front of a light source when using the FFC though.

I'm thinking that there are two reasons why its so strong. One reason is I replaced the light bulbs a few days ago with "twice as bright" bulbs. The second possibility might be the fact I have other light sources in the room. Could have been a perfect storm of them mixed.
Something is seriously wrong with your camera, is it giving everyone a neck beard????

All cameras will do that to some extent, though I wasn't able to get my GS3 to recreate anything close to what is in your screenshot.
I tried to make it happen on the back camera but I got zero purple.
Never had that issue on mine

Will SIM card still work if it was dropped in water?

So I like a idiot was standing next to a pool and dropped my phone in when I pulled it out of my pocket (the phone is a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket) and needless to say, the phone is screwed. I was wondering if the SIM card is going to be dead, too? I'm going to order a Nexus 4 to replace the Skyrocket.
It definitely has a much better chance of surviving than a phone. I left a sim in my pocket once when I washed my pants and it was fine.
Also, if you want a cheap piece of crap with no support, by all means, buy the Chinese knockoff phone. If you want a premium phone with a vibrant development community and ROM updates straight from Google, stick with your Nexus 4 plan. Choice seems obvious to me

Thanks! And yeah I think I'll stick with the Nexus 4 and not the Chinese knockoff the other guy posted
I guess I have to get a new SIM anyways since the N4 takes a Micro and I think my Skyrocket used a normal sized one.
Mine did, in a similar setting. (the difference being I didn't drop it, someone else threw it into the pool.) admittedly it was a backup phone and got fried, but the sim was fine.
Just let it dry out completely at room temperature.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Guess it doesn't really matter tbh since the phone requires a micro SD and I have a normal sized one.
You can still cut your SIM and make it a micro SIM (the one the N4 needs)
There are some tutorials on youtube
2 of my friends cut it theirselves and it works fine

Well, in theory it shouldn't, because metallic contacts of the SIM should short circuit. But it often keeps working. I drop mine in a puddle and it had no problems.
I dropped mine in a glass of beer and when i got sober, it worked just fine
Just make sure it's completely dry before testing. And don't artificially dry with hair dryer, etc. As over heating might damage.

the all end be all water and dirt proof answer

i saw this video earlier. it is a real product you can buy. put out by rust-oleum. the video is pretty crazy. if this really works as it say it does i am getting it. for $20 completely seal your phone from water and dirt or anything else. it looks like it doesn't add any thickness. so i would assume it would work with any case or accessory. check it for yourself:good:

Although the video shows it working on electronics, they won't actively push it as a feature. Why? Because if you get it slightly wrong your phone will break, and that's a loooot of pressure on the company. If they say it does and it doesn't they hold liability

Possibly a dead blaze.... RIP (maybe)

Sad, sad day, folks
So no schiss, there I was, giving the kids a bath, when all of a sudden my blaze jumps out of my pocket and into the tub. As quickly as I could get over the shock of what happened, I removed the battery and threw the blaze in a bowl of rice, but I fear this may be the end of Betty and as much as I hate to say it, if it is dead, it's time for a Nexus. In a couple months, when I can afford a phone. We'll find out tomorrow whether Betty breathes. I have high hopes, as when I took the battery out, it wasn't wet underneath

My previous BlackBerry took a dive into our pool while I was emptying the skimmer and it took me a few moments before I could jump in after it. I unscrewed everything and took it apart, cleaned everything with distilled water, and placed the components into a bowl of white rice on on top of our cable box for a week. It still works today, although I only keep it around as a backup.
If you give you Blaze many days in a bowl of rice, and place the bowl on top of something that is perpetually warm, like a cable/dtv box or other heat-producing hardware (and give it a week. Seriously, give it 7 days to allow any remaining water to work its way out from underneath ball-grid arrays and the LCD) I'm sure it will come out the other end working fine.
