Possibly a dead blaze.... RIP (maybe) - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Sad, sad day, folks
So no schiss, there I was, giving the kids a bath, when all of a sudden my blaze jumps out of my pocket and into the tub. As quickly as I could get over the shock of what happened, I removed the battery and threw the blaze in a bowl of rice, but I fear this may be the end of Betty and as much as I hate to say it, if it is dead, it's time for a Nexus. In a couple months, when I can afford a phone. We'll find out tomorrow whether Betty breathes. I have high hopes, as when I took the battery out, it wasn't wet underneath

Its always good to have some Uncle Ben's around. . Good luck.....

is the fact that my children weren't electrocuted a good sign?
lol i kid. Luckily, I'm not dead in the water even if it is fried. I have my i777 with the plan that my job pays for.
I wonder if t-mo does call/sms forwarding...

My previous BlackBerry took a dive into our pool while I was emptying the skimmer and it took me a few moments before I could jump in after it. I unscrewed everything and took it apart, cleaned everything with distilled water, and placed the components into a bowl of white rice on on top of our cable box for a week. It still works today, although I only keep it around as a backup.
If you give you Blaze many days in a bowl of rice, and place the bowl on top of something that is perpetually warm, like a cable/dtv box or other heat-producing hardware (and give it a week. Seriously, give it 7 days to allow any remaining water to work its way out from underneath ball-grid arrays and the LCD) I'm sure it will come out the other end working fine.

Inspire off topic story

See I plan my eventful night, then I had to go with my backup plan. I drank to much and instead going with my gut feeling. I threw up red g2 all over carpet, and my phone got wet. I am hoping my inspire didn't get wet inside, I took battery, sim and memory card out. Any other suggestions, it is just sitting and drying. And does anyone know how to clean g2 red out of carpet.
Thanks for reading and any suggestions will help

You have some plain white uncooked rice? I hear it does wonders for drawing the moisture out. I would bury it in a bowl of rice and wait at LEAST 24 hours before turning it on, just to be sure.

I can second the rice "theory". I've used it a couple times. Actually had my phone submerged. Left in rice for 3 days, still worked. I might add that I was told instant rice and not regular, and its better to seal it in a zip lock bag. Either way, I used instant and it has always worked. Good Luck!
Lol at this
I was always curious about this method... what about the leftover pieces in your phone and the residue it would leave behind?

for me...i haven't used my infuse in one week, school took it away last Wednesday, my parents picked it up last Friday only to have them decide to keep it because i had a bad grade in Spanish class...im hoping to get it back this Friday but who knows
so for me a week, how about you guys whats the longest you've been away?
BTW it is torture!!!!

Lol... when I used to get my phone taken away in school I would quickly take out my sim card if I was getting caught so I could just switch phones when I got caught and be like "IDC haha I'll pick it up whenever" and use a different phone. Same with when my parents took my phone. Buuuuut back on topic the longest I've been without a phone is probably when I lived in Michigan and didn't get service pretty much anywhere. xP
Two weeks plus. I hate it, but its a brick that can not be helped. Im getting the jtag service on it soon to save it. Then itll be alive woolhoooo. I hate using my ipod......

Is Liquipel any good?

Is it worth getting? Has anyone experienced it? A wealthy friend of mine has decided to buy it for me, and if it works well, he's going to get it for his Skyrocket/S3. I'm the Guinea pig.
I also have spare batteries, should I send those in as well? Do I need to send my case in too?

sounds like an insurance scam to me. for the same $60, you can buy the VZW insurance at $5/month for 12 months.

But you can use it in WAAATER. I'm not expecting any magical underwater capabilities but if I can use it in the shower (more specifically I don't have to be worried about getting wet on the pool deck) that would be cool.

meh. maybe if the phone cost you several hundred dollars and you plan on keeping it for another 2 years..... but not worth protecting the Charge IMHO.
i've never really been that hard pressed to use my phone in the shower. what concerns me is that they do NOT recommend that you test it but dunking it in water.... understandable, but still.

probably not - as it requires me to send my phone in to a company I don't know. despite their "tracking" system. even if I was there, I'm still not a fan of putting a foreign substance on my phone that could cause it to malfunction. basically, I do not see the reward outweighing the risk in this matter.
Well I just bought it. Rather, my friend did. I'm shipping it out later today. Wish me luck.

Nice... is it basically like a razr now?
I "tested" by pouring a water bottle cap full into the battery compartment...continues to function normally so I guess it works. Too much of a pansy to test more than that though.
Weird thing is, it tripped the water detection paper when I checked it later, at the time that I did it, the label didn't turn pink.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
Pansy? Seems like you really want a new phone
Still Charged Up
IMO, I would use Liquipel as something of a prevention for one of those "oh ****" moments. I wouldn't go out of my way to test it out as I'm guessing that the extent of it's protection is mainly to keep water out long enough for you to retrieve your phone. For free, I would get it if I had another phone to use in the meantime, or if I could get it done locally. But, I probably wouldn't pay for it unless I was planning on keeping my phone for 2+ years.

Mine is too but I think im going to wait till winter to upgrade. Big mistake last year when I upgraded in august... missed bionic by 3 weeks and if i had waited i would have a razr/nexus/rezound. Charge->razr/nexus/rezound is a way bigger upgrade than razr/nexus/rezound->gs3 (summer) in my opinion. Same with like droid x/droid 2 /fascinate (or whatever was the best back then I dont really know) -> charge, tb, revolution. Just added 4g (similar internals though).
Yeah, I'll be looking at the expected phones when I get closer. Problem is, I probably won't be able to get a winter phone since I'll be in college.
I still think my Charge was the best choice at the time I had to upgrade. I didn't have any time to wait since they were ending unlimited data.

great GS III story

The rent a car I was driving caught on fire, I stopped the car and ran out. I went to make a call but... my phone was still in the car on the charger. The car was on fire for roughly 5-7 minutes before the firemen came and drenched the car in water. I had a black phone from the smoke and it was wet. When the guy handed it to me I touched the screen and it came on. I made calls and it worked fine.
Really crazy but the phone is working fine. GS III tough phone!
Oh yeah PS I am fine

I dropped mine in the sink with running water. Water went in but it still works just fine. I pulled the battery and dried it. I kept pulling the battery door every few hours to find more water drops. I also downloaded a movie on 4g to make it hot in a desperate attempt to evaporate any remaining water

Yea after seeing the updated photo there's no doubt that was caused by pressure. Sat on old phone before by accident and the screen did the EXACT same thing.
I wouldn't say this is a screen issue, just a damaged phone by accident :*(
