Got my daughter an S5 and she had been playing a game and then downloaded Skype and the phone for super hot and shut down. Now the power button Doesnt move and it's burned inside the back cover. It wasn't even plugged in is what gets me..
This happen to anyone else? I will be going to Sprint today to see our options, not sure how it could be blamed on us but you never know..

Damn! I wouldn't settle for anything less than a brand new phone. That is really dangerous and they should kiss your ass! Lol. I haven't seen an s5 do that, but other phones have.
Dam! That's crazy. Demand a new one!

So I'm guessing pops accidentally sat on it after leaving it in his back pocket.

When I saw that I asked him right away if he dropped it or if his pockets were tight. He responded no to both. I've never seen him drop it, in fact the phone is still flawless. Nevertheless, the ended up shipping out a new phone. AT&T has really good CS. I'll let you know when the phone gets here. Oh yea, almost forgot, his screen is turning yellow now too.

Hey guys. Heres another update of the screen. When he woke up this morning he went to check his phone and found this. It got even worse. Whatever. We should be seeing a new one in 4 to 6 business days. Just a lil update.

Wow that's ****ty. Glad they are replacing it. I would of made a huge stink if they tried saying that was due to wear and tear.

Yea after seeing the updated photo there's no doubt that was caused by pressure. Sat on old phone before by accident and the screen did the EXACT same thing.
I wouldn't say this is a screen issue, just a damaged phone by accident :*(
Hopefully cs doesnt consider that physical damage and charge full retail price after they get it..

Has anyone done this for a warranty replacement and got away with it?
I am having hardware issues and cannot get back to stock.

I'd suggest hard bricking it first. When the s3 first came out I flashed an incorrect zip file and almost instantly found myself with a totally lifeless phone. I took it in to Verizon and convinced the guy there that it just stopped working and I played dumb about why. He tried to charge it for a while and see if that helped and of course nothing happened, so then he pronounced it dead and ordered a replacement phone totally under warranty. Good luck, lol

Interesting world where people openly discuss committing Felony Fraud and Conspiricy to Commit Felony Fraud but discussing pirating a $.99 piece of software isn't allowed. LOL :silly:
I am getting an Alltel S III tomorrow that will work on the Verizon network, and I actually have 2 questions. I have a broken verizon s3 that I used a while back until I broke it, that's rooted, unlocked, and with a custom ROM. Can I pull the motherboard out of that phone and put it in the new one? And what root method would I follow to root the alltel version? Is it the same as Verizon? I'm hoping I can just swap mother boards and go. Thanks guys!

If you swap the mainboard, then your Alltel S3 will be the broken one.
I got the Alltel s3 today, and I pulled off the back cover and saw that there was no sim slot. So I did the motherboard switch, and activated my sim card(I'm coming from the moto droid mini which takes a nano sim) and bam came up with signal and everything. Everything functions as it should.

I still don't buy it. You took a mainboard from a bricked S3 and put that into your new Alltel S3 and everything works??
The OP mentioned that he broke the fone.. Not meaning he brick the fone. Prove us right or wrong on wat happened
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Didn't happen until there are pictures.
One more question why buy an alltell S3 instead of a vzw S3. If he still gonna use it on vzw network.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
I'm going to guess he got it for a great price.
Noooo lol I didn't brick my old s3, all I did was broke the glass and lcd display. Upon getting the alltel s3(on 4.3) I noticed it did not have a sim slot, so I went ahead with the motherboard swap. After installing my motherboard from my broken s3, I used had to use the MB cover from my old one because it had a cut out for the sim slot. Then I powered it on and presto. I basically just did a conplete screen replacement. Whenever you break a screen and have to have it replaced, they just pull your motherboard and put it basically into a new phone and it won't matter the branding. You'll have the Verizon guts on the inside. I'm sorry about the confusion guys, I should have explained a little better.

Ok.. So is the atel s3 cheaper then the vzw s3

OK, that makes sense since you only broke the digitizer...usually people just get another screen and pop it on. Everything would stay original, but got to give you credit for replacing the mainboard. You do have some skill there!

Lol nevertheless. You get the point lol. And yeah I watched a couple videos, then when I actually went in and did it myself I was like omg this was too easy. I could do this all day long. So I may have found a way to make some money on the side lol.

You inspired me to open up my gs3 take the motherboard out and rip off my power button. You are right that was way to easy and now I can reboot! The bad part is I need to be plugged in to turn it on by entering download mode then decline instead of accept. I might solder a new switch some day but this is good enough for now. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do that!
My old job i work at a manufactured company for hospital devices we would build n repair. I can open those up and work on them. But when it comes to my fone. Im breaking sweat
Sent from my unknown using Tapatalk
The Galaxy S III is the only phone I have done this on, so keep this in mind. But yes it was super easy. It was a lot less stressful than rooting and unlocking a device for the first time. ThePagel, I still have the motherboard for the Alltel S III, do you think you could use the power button from that? If so you're welcome to it!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okay guys I'm sorry but I had to do this. I went back in and pulled the motherboard again, took the black power button and volume rocker covers from my black S III and replaced the silver ones with the black. It looks pretty freaking awesome. Just thought I'd share. Lol

My phone gets pretty darn hot while charging off the official charger
does anybody else's do the same?
Any solutions?
I thought mine was gonna burst into flames this morning lol. Charged over night, picked it up this morning and it was almost too hot to pick up. Battery is at 103 degrees right now.

Warm, maybe. Hot, no. Still very early under manufacturers warranty so should be easily replaced. Did this with my wife's and rather than mess with it, sprint just replaced the phone with NIB.

Running at 82 degrees currently. Will have to keep an eye on this.

Okay now my issue is that my G3 got affected by the wireless charging issue, AT&T agreed to replace my phone and are sending me a replacement, now my question is what does AT&T considers physical damage? I ask this because my phone has the infamous ir blaster hairline crack and the lower mic crack and i am worried that this will void my warranty if they claim it as "physical damage"
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
I doubt they'll ever even notice it. I'm a little nervous to turn mine in on the Next program but again, I don't think they look that closely. Mine is cracked around the mic.

Well i received the new phone and still haven't sent the other one back since i need to return it to stock and since they don't send you a battery with the "new" phone the i have to wait until i charge mine after my day ends to do that which i always just fall asleep jajajaja and what i did since mine is white i tried to get some nail polish or whiteout in the crack just a little bit so the crack doesn't look that noticeable and it works you just have to be patient lol

Don't do anything to it if you do they will notice that you tried to cover it up. I sent back my lgog with a hairline crack in the corner of the screen. What I did was take the box for the rma and before u put the phone in it crush the box where the defect is then put phone in bring to post office and if the say anything blame it on the post office
