I would like to send an email to Alcatel with the various issues we have with the Idol 3. I would like the meail to be detailed and have all the info in said email. So below I have a list of the things I have seen personally and from some of the posts here.
Issues
- Tap to wake performance is bad
- Tap to wake works better when Gestures "Turn over to mute" and "Turn over to activate" are disabled and Func is disabled. Needs to be resolved.
- Cellular signal disappears periodically, possibly only when wifi is enabled.
- Performance is not ideal and phone lags when doing basic tasks.
- Gesture mode not working on installed stock keyboard
- No Idol 3 support page
If I missed something please reply to the post. Please do not post about missing features as I won't include features.
Thanks.
Well...if your sending one, what the heck, you can mention the source isn't available on sourceforge.
Also, while you're at it, please add:
This is an Amazing phone at a very amazing price.
- Display is very nice and bright. Something the Nexus 6 could not pull off.
- They kept modifications to OS to a minimum. Thank You!!
- Good T-Mobile support
- Unlocked bootloader
- Nice size at 5.5, nice slim design.
- Thank you for including decent headphones!
- $250 ... Less than half the price of the flagships.
I can't praise companies like this enough, who will pretty soon make people realize there is no need to spend 600+ for a phone. I have absolutely no complaints.

Nice thoughts however for many of us the bootloader was not unlocked by default...it was rather easy to unlock but mine was locked originally. They have however done a killer job for the price. I just have to hope T-mobile doesn't randomly start to block the idol 3 from my grandfathered tether plan like they did my nexus 5...currently works fine but they could change that tomorrow if they decided to....one reason I picked a phone I knew t-mobile would NOT be selling.
Must be nuce to have an unlocked bootloader. If you can inbox me a link, I'd appreciate it.
I will be exchanging my wife's phone since when connected to a Wi-Fi router, the cellular signal turns off and on randomly every 5 seconds of so.
Custom ring tones doesn't always work properly. Sometimes, my default ring tone would ring for calls from people whom I set custom ring tones for.

The stock radio and weather widgets are not working on third party launcher ( Well at least not working for me in Apex - If someone using Nova can try out and let me know .. ) - Not sure if this is by design. Other stock widgets - the clock for example - do work. I do believe those widgets are 'special' - so depending on that you may not may not want to add this 'defect' to your list.

It's normal for some stock widget to not work on 3rd party launchers. You will have to download a similar app/widget from the Paly store.

sure!! please dont forget about the 5.1 update! ^^ and if they can fix the radio firmware for better stability on cricket thanks
One thing I'd like is for the FUNC options not to require the PIN to be entered. In the same way that you can swipe instantly into Camera/Dialer without a PIN, users should also be able to double-tap into all FUNC options, especially since users can select what they want to display via FUNC.
Just a suggestion. Not a deal breaker by any means. I am very happy with my phone.

okay, here is the email I drafted. I hope you all approve. I will wait 1 day for comments then send it off tomorrow.
To whom it may concern,
Hello, my name is Shannon and I am part of a community of tech savvy people over in the XDA Developers forums. The purpose of this letter is to convey congratulations and thanks for such an interesting phone such as the Idol 3. However, at the same time we also wish to voice our concerns for a device that we enjoy so very much. Many members of the XDA forums have been greatly excited about the Idol 3 weeks before it was even released. Once we received our phones we dove in to discover the wonders of the brilliantly bright and sharp display, loud and clear sound from the dual stereo speakers, the superb battery life, the large 5.5” screen with a super thin design, a near stock Android OS and all the other great features, including it’s amazing price point.
As much as we enjoy the phone we do have some concerns that we would like to address and make you aware of. Listed below are the main areas of concern that need to be addressed as soon as possible due to bugs or are performance related.
- Some phones lose cellular signal when the Wi-Fi is on. In some cases the cellular signal is lost often and rapidly and in extreme situations every five seconds or so.
- Cellular signal fluctuates greatly going from below 25% to above 75% and back down again like a yoyo without being moved.
- LTE signal drops down to slower speeds even when cellular signal is excellent.
- Performance lags quite a bit in the UI. Simple things like changing home screens create a stutter. When closing recent apps the stutter is quite apparent, especially when using the close all apps button. Even when closing one app it shows there is a performance problem. These are not the only occurrences of general performance issues but they are the most noticeable as we use the home screens and recent apps screen a lot in day to day usage.
- Tap to Wake does not work well. Testing has shown that turning off the Gesture settings “Turn over to mute” and “Turn over to activate” helps the Tap to Wake performance but even then it still does not work every time.
- When playing music, songs will stop for a split second then continue. No other apps are open and this issue happens with multiple music apps and with local and streaming music.
As you can see it appears to come down to two main issues: the cellular radio and poor performance right out of the box. We realize some of the issues may be due to Android 5.0.2 and we are hoping to receive an Android 5.1 or 5.2 update very soon. What we would like is some kind of acknowledgement from Alcatel OneTouch that you’re working on the issues and when an update may be coming.
A few more small bugs have also been found but these are obviously not as important as the above issues. These items are:
- Gesture mode not working on stock Android keyboard.
- LED not working for missed calls and voice mails.
- Custom ringtones are not working.
Again we want to stress how much we love the Idol 3 and we praise Alcatel OneTouch for making such a fantastic phone for a low price. We invite you to join our community over at XDA Developer forums to give us any news on updates and join in on discussions in progress. The link is http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3 . One of the items of interest in the forums is the fact that many people would like to see the source code released for development purposes. Lastly, I want to point out I am not affiliated with XDA Developers in any way but only a member and a part of a tech savvy group of people who are also fans of your Idol 3.
Thank you,
Shannon Edds (AKA Shodan5150

@Shodan5150: I'd be thankful if you could modify your description of the cellular signal loss by adding in a few more details. I have the "extreme" intermittent cell signal issue (occurs every 5-20 seconds randomly), but unlike what others have reported, turning off Wi-Fi does not help the issue. Disabling LTE does prevent the signal loss, but that's obviously not a permanent workaround. I have tried a factory reset with no success. Thanks.

Sure, will do.
I would add that many people are ready to simply return their phones, and buy a competitors phone in loght of these discoverers issues, but if the issues can be resolved word of mouth can be a powerful thing.

You may have seen my whining posts about the things that soured my captivate experience, and a big one was for some absurd reason (probably to eat up more data minutes) they made it show ****ty looking videos in the youtube player unless you navigate through a bunch of menus to make them HQ. See that way, you use more data.
Anyway, at least one thing is better because I put a youtube player from the Evo on there and it is a little bit better. Still not perfect because the stupid thing still shows low quality at first, but at least in this youtube there is a single HQ button on the player by the fast forward one touch and you've got HQ.
So I'll take that tiny victory, however shallow, over AT&T and Samsungs herculean efforts to f- up the nice chips, speaker, and screen on this device. Note I didn't say hardware because I'm not a fan of the case overall.
the player defaults to lower quality if youre not connected to wifi so you use less data and it loads quicker. this would be useful to people who have the 200 mb data plan. IIRC it was the same when i had an iphone 3g a couple years ago.

"a bunch of menus"? You tap the menu button, hit more, then HQ. It takes less than a second. I usually have it hit before the low-quality version is even buffered. Three taps is more than one, but it's not like they were asking you to do analytic geometry. Maybe I don't care because my fingers are fast, or because I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
As for their herculean efforts, if you don't use the AT&T/Samsung stuff, you don't notice any of it once you've rooted and enabled sideloading. At least I don't.
Mine defaults to high quality. Whenever I hit menu -> more the option in there always says "watch in low quality". I've checked several times because I was thinking the video looked pretty bad, but then I realized it was already in high quality mode.
My old HTC phone used to pick the quality based on available bandwidth. This type of functionality doesn't seem like it should be beyond google and samsung with their latest and greatest phone lol. Google owns youtube for god's sake.
this sounds like a troll post...

What does sideloading do and how do I enable it. I too have an unlimited plan so I just want the best performance. I'm new to Android phones. I use to be a Nokia fan but got tired of waiting for the N8 or something nice from Nokia.
Not to Hi-jack this post but I'm open to any suggestions to make my Captivate a better user experience. So far I'm loving it !!

There are, very nearly literally, a million threads on sideloading here. It means the ability to load apps not found in the Market--a feature AT&T disabled by default, without the ability to switch it in settings. Search for it, and you'll find how to enable it. Once it's enabled, you have the only real handicap AT&T put on the phone out of the way.

I still notice the dialer. Isn't that still Samsung? It sucks compared to the Aria dialer.
You'd need to have actually used a sense device for a while to know what I mean, it's all about the cool predictive algorithm htc used, whereas the dialer on the captivate is no better than on my old Tilt (although a little faster, thank goodness, and I do appreciate the huge buttons)
Don't get me wrong, there are 5 good things about the captivate: The screen, the screen, the screen, the screen, and the speaker. And those 5 are enough to keep me interested.

Hello XDA denizens,
I would like to migrate from jailbroken iOS because I am sick of the cat & mouse game with Apple. I would like to know whether I can do the following specifically on the HOX without having to void my warranty:
Read (entire) emails without unlocking my phone, see my calendar appointments without unlocking my phone, and see a list of all missed calls and SMS without unlocking my phone. I have heard two names mentioned within this context: WidgetLocker and Executive Assistant. Can any of you tell me if these work on the HOX and whether they allow me to do the above.
Turn on my flashlight with any multitouch gesture that I wish. Multitask with any gesture that I wish (e.g. two-fingered swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up a list of running apps).
See a list of toggles in the drop-down notification screen that allow me to toggle wifi/autolock/cellular data/brightness without having to leave the app that I am currently running.
Final question: does rooting void the warranty on this phone?
Thank you!

1) There SHOULD be apps available for that. Maybe not though as being able to do all that without unlocking your phone is a security issue. There is a reason that info is hidden while the phone is locked.
2) Nope.
3) Only if you unlock your bootloader (most likely voiding warranty) and install a custom rom.
Rooting does not void warranty as it can be undone. Unlocking the bootloader however does.
That is too bad. I can do all those things on the iPhone without voiding the warranty (jailbreaking can be undone).
Thanks very much, though!

This puts toggles in the notifcation bar, and it doesnt require root, or boot loader unlock. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=en
and you use widget locker, then put a email widget on it.
Hey, that's great! Thanks for the link.
Does anyone know if the widget locker has a widget that lets me read the entire email (not just preview the first line)?
There's nothing in my emails that needs to be kept secret; hence I've always enjoyed the ability to read (NOT write, of course) emails without unlocking, since I get so many emails.

Widget locker allows you to place any widget on your lockscreen so all you have to do is find a widget from the play store that has this ability and place on your lockscreen

All of these things are fairly simple to do, for sure for the flashlight I would use go launcher or similar to input multi touch swipe or gesture or however you want it to trigger. You can do anything without unlocking by turning off lock with no lock of it annoys you, or put widgets on your lockscreen. Try different ones if you aren't satisfied with the function of the stock ones. Android will let you do anything its just a matter of figuring out how if it's difficult.

I couldn't find a widget that lets you read full emails without launching the gmail app, which would unlock the screen.
I do not want to unset the pin, since that's removing a whole other level of security.
All I want to do is read full emails without unlocking the screen. What I keep on hearing is that it should be doable, but no one can point to anything specific.
Also a noob coming from iOS. Now that the HOX price has dropped to $100, am thinking about this phone while comparing it to the GS3 and Atrx HD. What I don't like about Sense is the multi-tasking and it seems the hardware manufacturing is inconsistent too. I plan to get a phone direct from ATT since they are bending over backwards to price match. I can actually get 50% off the on contract price with no activation fee and a credit for the CA sales tax. So this means I can get a GS3 for $100 or either the HOX or AHD for $50. I don't want to waste an upgrade so I want to make the best choice.
Can anyone here give a non-biased opinion about which phone is the most solid performer with the least issues? I had actually written off the HOX due to the many issues I was seeing over in the AC forums, though the GS3 has plenty also. Thanks.
Hey greetings from SF. How are you getting that 50% off?
I've had the HOX and the sgs3. If you don't need an SD card slot, the HOX is a better choice. Especially at 99 bucks. For 50 bucks you're crazy not to get one. I had big problems with wifi on the sgs3 and I really missed the excellent display on the HOX.

I'll try to be non-biased. I'd say forget the AHD because the HOX and GSIII are better performers. Even though they all have the same processor it's reported the the Atrix runs slower than the other two.
I don't think the hardware is inconsistent with the HOX. I mean, we had some issues the first month or two, but all of that is out of the way for the most part.
The HOX will have a better screen and better build quality (This was biased) and the GSIII has that extra gig of ram and tons of dev support (we may have less, but we have amazing devs working on the HOX)
So... No one knows which widget or app I should use to read full emails on the lock screen?

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.koxx.pure_messenger&hl=en might fit your needs. It shows a couple lines of each email. But if you click on the email, it views the whole email right in widget, vs opening email app, like most widgets do. You could put that widget on widgetlocker and should do what you want.
EDIT: Just installed it, and put on widget locker, works great. Can read little bit of email (SMS, facebook etc to if wanted) then click on the message, and a mostly full screen pop up comes up, and lets you read whole message, but your still at lockscreen When you install the pure messenger widget app, there are multiple widgets to choice from, i recommend one of the "scrollable" ones. 4x2 fits nicely in middle of widget locker.

You'll get a kick out of this. I went into the AT&T store and played with the HOX for half an hour. But then it was like the ghost of Steve Jobs grabbed my collar and escorted me out of the store. I just couldn't make the switch. If you're interested in hearing my pros and cons:
Rest of family is on iOS with a high barrier to switching. The real killer app is iMessage; free text messages between iPhones with fallback to native SMS in case of data failure.
Launching Google+ caused the whole HOX to hang and I couldn't make Google+ load again until I rebooted the thing... does not bode well for stability.
(minor) Music skipping while taking photos.
Will likely waste a ton of time re-learning how to do everything and modding the device.
As far as my tweaking needs are concerned, I feel that Jailbroken iOS is on par with Android.
The reasons why I'll likely regret not switching:
Jailbreakability: more likely than not I'll be waiting 4+ months for the iPhone 5 jailbreak. These vulnerabilities are tough to find.
Google maps offline: this is an amazing feature and I just hope that the iOS 6 maps will have some kind of data-saving caching built in.
Transit directions: it looks like Apple is about to screw us over on this one. They are being replaced with "routing apps," whatever that is.
Overall this was a really tough choice and I totally see now why there are these flame wars going on online on the iOS vs. Android thing... you get your family set up with one or the other and then you're vested and there is an incredible inertia to stay on the platform you started with. The choice would be much simpler if it were just me.
Okay,
Some folks have had the phone for about 24hrs.
What things do you absolutely hate about the phone?
What is disappointing about it?
What will you mod on the phone?
And what about the phone would you like to walk up to the design team and give them a great big kick in the crotch about???
• Not a big enough bump technology wise from the Note 2
• Poor Radio's
• The speaker. Wish it had dual speakers
• The back cover not feel like leather
• Small notification light
• Knox security
• Gets hot when stressing the device
• Screen Gap
• Battery Drain
• Region Locking
• Only 4 columns on home screen
• Bezel size
• Bloat ware from carrier
• Headphone jack is said to be excellent
• Rooting to mod the battery indicator
• Long press the on the soft menu button will run S –Finder not Google Now
• * Lack of Custom roms
• * Lack of custom kernels
• * Locked bootloader
• * Ease of the ability to root
* Designates TBD
There are also quite a few complaints about the polycabonate build material of this phone.
Whether this is a reasonable complaint or not is up for debate. If you purchased this phone without reading about the plastic body or without demo-ing the phone beforehand. Then I think that responsibility resides with the consumer for not doing any research about this piece of technology.

The speaker. The speaker is much better than my old galaxy s3, but i'd really liked it if they had put in dual speakers. Luckily i don't use the speakers that often, but it still bothers me, although i knew it before buying the phone obviously.
I also really dislike the very small Notification light. The light in my S3 was much bigger.
What is disappointing about it?
I thought the back of the phone would feel like actual leather, but it doesn't. It's still better than my galaxy s3, but i much preferred the metal feel of my Desire HD.
I'm also disappointed that there doesn't seem to be any place to buy the samsung accessories in my country, they don't even have the phone added to the danish version of the samsung website, but i'll have to wait for it to be released, i just usually like to get the case with the phone.
What will you mod on the phone?
I'll root it when that becomes available, and install cyanogenmod(Or something in that category) when i get tired of touchwiz.
And what about the phone would you like to walk up to the design team and give them a great big kick in the crotch about???
The small notification light & the speakers. Possible adding a metal back, but not at the cost of a removable back.
What is the point of this thread in a newly released phone's forum? people just bought their phone and you are trying to get them to remember buyer's remorse. There really isn't any point in it

The point of this thread is to catalog any problems people are having with their phones, so others contemplating a purchase can have more information. Personally, I appreciate it.
I'm very much interested in this thread and it's a very good question.
There a ton of love for the N3, but I also want to know what people don't like. Starfigher's issues would not be my issues, but it's good to know what bothers people and see if it is a global issue or just someone's personal preferences.

Agreed. Good thread, I am also very interested in what people dislike about the Device.
We already have threads covering all this, visit them so owners don't have to type it down again.

I appreciate it to...what I really want to know is how the dev support is going to be for the exynos version...and how well it works especially the octa core system and it's switching ability
I also like this thread. Problems can be a separate issue than likes/dislikes. Although I won't get my phone for a few days, I appreciate the feedback others are giving, both positive and negative.
I just got my N9000 today.
What things do you absolutely hate about the phone?
Knowing that this phone might be hard to customize because of Knox.
What is disappointing about it?
Long press on the soft menu button will run S-Finder not Google Now like in my Note II.
S-View Cover Wireless not available yet!
What will you mod on the phone?
Root it and mod the battery indicator. Basically, I will mod the touch wiz to make it look like in my Note II
And what about the phone would you like to walk up to the design team and give them a great big kick in the crotch about???
Wish it has dual speaker on the bottom
The reason why I made the thread is to have a single thread where early adopter could voice their pleasure or displeasure with particular aspects of the phone. As a Hobbyist/Prosumer you have to remember not all consumers are as phone or forum savvy as many of "YOU" are, when it comes to searching or finding out things about any phone.
So the idea behind this was to give a rundown of what people disliked and from there if they so choose to research it even more, they would have a few search terms to use in order to the using the "SEARCH" feature on the forum much easier. I will periodically update my original post with bullet points as it warrants with new found dislikes etc..

I will visit them and update my original post with I can find or understand as a gripe that isn't telecom or user error related.

And there are many good reviews and information available so most buyers should know what they are buying and in most countries you can return the device. Pointless thread.

Nah. Wouldn't say so. Generally speaking, I trust members of xda more than random reviewers whose agenda I don't know.
Just as a starter: if I had known about this Knox - thingy, I might not have bought the N3. I read many reviews - but when I made the decision to buy the device, none of those were talking about Knox at all.
I hate the plastic build.
I dislike amoled.

Install Apex (or a similar launcher), which lets you customize what long-pressing the menu button does. For example, I have mine set to open up Contacts.
Love everything, but the speaker! Its crap!!!
I'm working on a volume boost though..just as I found for the Note 2. Phone is now rooted..so should be able to edit settings!

As more of us get our phones today's, ive noticed little things missing
I cant seem to find simple sharing (I looked in the gallery)
Where is the Samsung stock internet browser? (isn't it needed to use finger print to log in to sites)
I didn't see onedrive installed., don't we receive 100 gigs?
the touch buttons (cant be turned off or put on timer) -.-
What else you notice?
I too noticed the samsung browser missing. I even looked in the samsung store to see if we could download it , no dice.
Verizon has thoroughly gimped the Samsung Galaxy S6
Looking through one of the nicest devices I've ever owned, trying to find all of the features that I've been reading about everywhere on the internet, when the realization slowly dawns on me: Verizon has removed many of the features of Samsung's software suite that made it worth using in the first place. Gone is the Samsung Store. I can't actually find it anywhere, which is really rather odd (hopefully Samsung will sneak it in during the night when nobody is looking...) Gone also is the ability to link Samsung's native music player to a variety of cloud services, instead you are locked into Verizon's rather poor attempt at cloud storage (meaning no playing music straight off your Drive from within the stock Music app, and you can forget about playing from Onedrive through it too.) Speaking of Onedrive, it didn't come preinstalled. That was one giant read warning light, followed by confirmation buzzers when I installed it and then scoured through all of the settings looking for the button to press to get my free 100GB of online storage. It would appear that this option simply doesn't exist for us. Funny. I forgot to laugh. Another thing that I found to be fairly odd: battery life. It isn't terrible, not really, but the device ran warm and got absolutely terrible reception for a few hours after activation. I'm going to have to keep an eye on it after it's had its drink from the mains to make sure that it was merely a fluke.
Has anyone else noticed anything that Verizon appears to have nixed on their Galaxy S6 that I've missed?
they answered a lot of the reasons i would root and mainly i finally get to add more columns and rows THANK GOODNESS
but i can not seem to figure out how to switch back and forth to my Bluetooth stereo or headset when on a call there was a bluetooth button that appears to be gone and i have to hit speaker button to get off BT
samsung account
The Galaxy store will show up when you log into your Samsung account and install some updates. Still I've yet to find our 100 gb's of One Drive or the stock browser.
I'm most frustrated by Simple Sharing and capacitive settings missing. Most of the other stuff I don't really care about.
Hopefully we'll get root, and then be able to flash ROMs with these options baked in
Overall I'm very happy with my S6 though. These are mainly just minor grievances
I was going to get mine today because Verizon I 100$ less than the rest and then use it on t Mobile. Us it not worth it? Should I pay the extra 80 or so for a t Mobile or unlocked variant? Or are you guys alright with what you have?

I really don't understand the point of removing the stock browser. I understand verizon or any provider throwing on their services even if i have no use, but why and what gives them the right to change the fundamentals of a product.
I can't use google music right now because I have to many devices authorized but when i go to de-authorize it says I can't. A call to google and they have to have a specialist get back to me as they are not in there office now. I get not wanting more then a given number of devices authorization but what do they care what device i de-authorize. Make it so once de-authorized i can't authorize the same device without jumping through hoops. This is not how I pictured this all going down while I was waiting for this phone. Like the phone and how speedy it is, but these problems plus what seems like not to good of battery life are making me rethink.
Where is the task manager?
Is the favorites widget for contactz missing or am I missing it?

If someone made a lot if another variant like t Mobile or something we'll get all these features right? That's how it was on my Verizon g2. Cloudyfa was a dev who made a international variant rom for all devices so we had all the lg features. If this happens then the Verizon version Wil pretty much be the best since we can use it with relatively any carrier, and it's also 100$ cheaper than all other carriers when paid in full.

i did and it was right there the whole time but not as convenient as the old method before LP. when you are on the call look for the "More" button at the top right of the screen and its in there.
i blame it on the Underhills
If you download OneDrive from the play store, it will still give you the 100gb. Same thing happened to me on Verizon.
I saw the phone's announcement, and in my opinion they should never let Charlie Chang present a phones again.
It was one of the most awkward announcements I watched. He looked like he is going to explode, and every feature he presented it looked like he is praying to god that it will work.
but that's one thing.
during the presentation he tried to activate google assistant through the Edge Sense, and it didn't work, then he tried again and it failed again, then he made the most awkward "ooopss" he could make, while trying again couple of times until he continued presenting the google assistant without mentioning or talking about the incident (which is understandable but still troubling).
the weirdest thing is that I can't find any review or post that talks about it, I thought the press will destroy Htc for this screw up.
for me it's really troubling, this gimmick can be nice, but it's the first time we see something like this on any phone and I have doubts about its quality.
what do you think?
Meh, to say that I've never had stuff like that happen on any phone I've owned would be a huge understatement.
Had a unit in hand to test it one week ahead of the official announcement. On my test unit the Edge Sense worked really good, after getting accustomed after the first 30 Minutes and configuring it to my pressure sensitivity in settings.

Jeah some other people already tried Edge Sense and said something similar like @5m4r7ph0n36uru said. Its working okay or good - better then many expected. But for me its just a nice to have. Lets see how much they can improve this feature with future Software updates. Maybe its just a feature that ends up being a public prototype which would also be okay. If this feature is any good they will probably improve the hardware behind it in a future device.
I mean its the same with the fingerprint scanners, the first and even second version in the iPhone was quite bad in my opinion. The one in the 6s is good, but the ones before where too slow and the failure rate was too high (for me).

I wouldn't read too much into it - could be nerves, could be the phone wasn't set up properly for him, old software, etc.
Microsoft launched a version of windows (I think it might have been Win98) and during the launch they encountered the Blue Screen Of Death... it didn't seem to have much impact on their future!
I'm not too worried. If it doesn't work well I will just disable it. The phone is still nice.

They will update it. As HTC told in the same briefing, they are already planing to implement Double-Tab as a possibility to take further actions with Edge Sense, though they couldn't tell the date at this time but only that it is on the list. So I guess they are definitely planing to implement more gestures by such a step making short press, long press and double press available. With two different force settings, this would give us six gestures in total to configure for separate actions.
Something further is App based actions that'll be implemented to change the action resulting from a short press depending on the App you're using.

I hope so and i am sure they will but all I'm saying is that the hardware will be limited like i said with the fingerprint or another example the pressure sensitivity from the surface pen. In the first iterations it only had 256 different steps now they have around 2000. (not sure about the exact numbers here )
My hope is not too big about this squeeze feature in the first iteration but i am curious and will give it a try.

I thought the same Totally agreed with you... But I'm still buying the phone.. I hope after 1-2 updates it will work better.
I am lucky I wasn't in his shoes. Very awkward indeed. His hands were shaking.
I don't think it will damage sales. And in a live event anything can happen.
I don't think it even had to do with edge sense TBH... I think it had to do with the assistant apps themselves and probably the internet connection within the venue.
Mine works well do far. I just need to remember about it. I've left it starting the camera and it's good.
Honestly, I was hoping the edge sense would have worked just as the early videos showed of a couple walking the street and navigating the app drawer with the edge. Maybe version 2. But that was sick!

Can't say I've every been walking the street and needed to navigate the app draw. I have shortcuts for everything already. Actually only time I navigate the app draw is when I'm adding a shortcut lol. But I see what you saying. Maybe if they added volume up down or scrolling, but don't think that's how it works.
well... it would probably have worked better if she took them off..
