Is there a way to get the 3G Icon to replace the ev?

for sprint hero?

apparently its just a matter of changing a few .pngs in what we already have (no matter the build?) but im too scared to f*ck with it

just replace them in the apk with the ones you want (same name), then build a install zip, sign it, and push via adb or install via RA

hey NOJ what file would i play with to get the font to green with your theme love it BTW hope your having as good of a holliday as i am

how would i open and edit the files?

in alot of the roms I've used, there have been 3g variations in the files, just not in the right place or named correctly for CDMA. You can grab those if you want or create your own. Name them the same as the ones you want to replace. Open the apk with winzip or whatever app you use, find the files you want to replace, then drag the new ones into the apk.
If you get a prompt about encryption, choose other, then no encryption.
After that, build a folder structure just as if the app would be in the phone.
ex: system/framework/
- place the apk inside of the framework folder, and zip it.
- next you need to sign the zip, I'd use flipz's kitchen
- install via RA (place on sd card, reboot into recovery and install)

with your favorite graphic editor, their png files.
beyond that, you might want to make a request in the thread where you got the ROM.
what ROM and addons are you using anyway?

but, back to the long way. i found the right file, (using regaw mod, comes with the 3g icon) what do i change it to?

it's not a zip you flash. Download metamorph from the market, and install it from there.
and mountain... I just used the default 3g icons in framework-res.apk and placed them into com.htc.resources.apk with the metamorph

I installed MetaMorph, but at the beginning it says start basic checks to see if your phone can run, and it just hangs there and says its not responding, asks to wait or FC, please help

Need Froyo FM Radio .apk Please!!

Anyone have the stock froyo fm radio apk they can upload? I have fresh's rom and its removed. It seems fresh provided all the apks to re-install if needed, but that one wont install for some reason.

That might explain why this doesnt seem to install correctly either. Usually I would click on the apk via astro and click on file manager and install it manually. Via adb do I simply push it to the system/app folder or is there a specific install procedure?

You could just copy it into the \system\app folder using RootExplorer and set the proper permissions, reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik, reboot.

Ok, used root explorer, put in the system/app folder. Rebooting to recovery and clearing davlik is cake. Where do you set and what are the "proper permissions" ??

Um, try getting the virus roms removed apps. Maybe those work? I'm not sure if fm radio was removed from that rom

[Q] New boot animation?

flashed CM 7 yesterday, I was wanting to change to a custom boot animation, but my regular one is under system/media and I tried using root explorer to give full perms, but no matter what I can't seem to get it to work, any ideas?

You shouldn't have to mess with permissions. Just put your bootanimation.zip in /system/media just like the one that's already there and replace it.

Don't forget to rename it the same as the one you are replacing. you can just pu old in the name of the original and leave it there and when the phone boots it will recognize the new bootanimation.zip. Abd if it doesn't work for some reason you can change the name back and you should be back to normal.

Are you using root explorer? If you are when you have that file open at the top of the screen in a little box it says mount R/W tap that ,then try to paste the file in that folder.

Probably. I've never had to change the permissions myself. If you're using Root Explorer then mount r/w then long press on the file and choose Permissions. Change them to match below:

turns out the one I was trying to use wouldn't work, I just used another one instead, thanks for the help though!

I actually just literally changed my boot animation back to the BIOS one after upgrading to CM7.1
Hook the Shift up to your computer with USB Debugging on
Have the boot animation you want on the root of the SD card called bootanimation.zip
Open up CMD, cd to where you have adb set up
From there do this
adb devices
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media
To test it: adb shell bootanimation
Works for me everytime

Custom Boot Not Working (Black Screen)

So I can't get my custom boot animation to show. It's just a black screen when i reboot nothing more, I have done the 3rd line trick, I'm pretty sure my desc.txt is correct. I will upload my bootanimation.zip so people can hopefully correct me.
I have the Evo 3D running MIUI.
One more thing is when i copy over my bootanimation.zip to my phone no matter if its adb push or sdcard mount it never copys over the numbers in order. For instance i would copy over my bootanimation.zip and it would go in the order of 1,102,103,115 ect....
EDIT:I realized my files and my desc were not the same name so I changed that..Stupid mistake, I changed the compresion to store instead of normal, I made sure i had a third line using notepad++, and yet i still get a black screen...I think it might be because when i copy over my they don't stay in the order they were in origanlly. I will post a screen shot of this.

Lastly i added the newly updated bootanimation.zip that i tried fixing...
EDIT2:I finally got it to show up!! I think it may have been the pics per second were to fast. I had it at 13 originally and changed it to 5 that seemed to work as it shows now...The only problem im having is the files are still not in order as shown above.

make sure that when you compress the file to zip its set to "store" and the option is set to add and update files.Also make sure that you leave a blank line in the end of the desc.txt file.
(Note) if you have modified the files inside the archive then you have to compress the zip again with the same settings

[Q] Adding notification/ringtone sounds on Lollipop

In KitKat, non-stock sounds sitting in a folder on my sdcard were automatically pulled in and were available for use. On lollipop this doesn't seem to be the case - the only way I can get them to show up is to copy them to system/media/, change permissions to 644 and reboot. Root explorer won't even let me change permissions for sound files that are not in system/media.
Is this a new "feature" of lollipop? Or is there another way to get these non-stock sound files to show up as choices for selection? I'm rooted and running LiquidSmooth LP if that makes a difference.

Lollipop is the same as kitkat. Any file in a folder on sdcard called "ringtones" will show up in ringtone picker. Same for "alarms" and "notifications" folders

Can the file be in a subfolder called ringtones/notifications? If yes then I'm thinking it's an issue with the ROM I'm running...

I think that would confuse it.
You can have
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
I don't think
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/notifications
...would work

Sorry, I meant that to mean a subfolder called ringtones or a subfolder called notifications. I have it set up exactly as your first option - and it seems like it's pulling in 99% of them but leaving one or two out of the list for some reason. I added a ringtone yesterday to my /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones folder and it would not show up in the ringtones selection list until I copied it to system/media/ringtones, changed permissions to 644 and rebooted (maybe I didn't have to change perms and reboot but I seemed to remember that process from earlier). Very strange.

Try moving the file to the stock created folder then reboot.

Should work. Some of mine don't show correctly. Check the tags of the file too. A couple of mine show up as "the title" because the tags say that. No idea why.
