[MORPH] Clear SetCPU widget

here's a metamorph for a clear setcpu widget...you just need to move setcpu to /system/app however you know how...

extract the folder from the zip and put it in AndroidThemes, then apply.
clearsetcpu.zip is for anyone who downloaded setcpu through the market, its named differently through his post on these forums..

how about a morph for those other icons on ur home screen?

sorry the clearsetcpu doesnt work..
i bought my setcpu from the store so decided to try it
metamorph complains "the theme you selected is invalid because the theme control file could not be read and may be missing"
other themes i have applied fine..

download the clearsetcpu.zip and put the folder inside it in your androidthemes folder. ones setcpu.apk and ones com.mhuang.overclocking...
you have to have setcpu in /system/app too...it wont work if all you've done is downloaded setcpu..

what do you mean there is no folder inside it.. you put the .zip files in the androidthemes directory and metamorph finds theme and applies them..
there is no option to apply 2 files at once .. when i try to apply the .zip file i get the error above.
I also checked there is no setcpu.apk in /system/app
but i also double checked and i did download from market and it does show up in my marked list as installed.
and it does run.

The morph zip needs a small fix (remove extra level) to make it directly usable. Attached.

thanks ... so much for the statement about the 2nd hack working for anyone that downloaded through the market.
I use sufbs to remount system as read/write and copied from /data/apps to /system/apps and reistalled from there .. then the morph worked fine..
then removed the other copy in /data and remount fs read only..
also removed the stupid amazon mp3 download while i had system unlocked since it wouldnt let me delete it the normal way.

I am able to pull the com.mhuang.overclocking.apk but when i try to push it i get failed to copy read only file system. what am i doing wrong? the command im using is adb push c:\com.mhaung.overclocking.apk /system/app

[THEME] Cyanogen Themed Launcher2 from 5.0.6-N1!

This is the Launcher2 pulled from CM-5.0.6-N1. I have themed it (KANGING OTHERS WORK OF COURSE).
You will also get the black facebook widget!
This has the standard 4 or 5 drawer.
UPDATE.ZIP
apk until I get update.zip fixed
adb push launcher2.apk /system/app
if on cyanogen 5.0.6-N1 you should be fine!
If you get force closes do adb -r /data/data/com.android.launcher2

People are having some issues with roms other than 5.0.6test1. So to remedy that do:
adb pull /system/app/Launcher2.apk Launcher2.bak so you have a working backup in case and don't forget to clear launcher data before pushing or after if you are getting fc.

how about a morph or an update.zip style?

I will see what I can do when I get home tonight. I did this while at work so I just didn't have the time.

Can this be used on a CDMA Hero? If not is there any way you can port it over?

I am not 100% certain, can you run:
adb pull /system/app/Launcher2.apk ~/Desktop (if you are on linux) or the same command with c:\ if you are on Windows and then get me Launcher2.apk that it spits out. I am not familiar with what apps are on that device. If the Launcher2 is the same (I think it probably is assuming it is using Launcher2) then it can be used.

Sorry school started back yesterday and I am taking 20Hrs this quarter, so my time is very limited.
Until I get time you can do this:
Download, Rename, copy to SDcard.
Open andexplorer (I am sure you have it if you are using metamorph)
Navigate to the Launcher2.apk file
choose it
select package installer, and Voila!
Just as easy as an update.zip but no reboot!

same here using and explorer

pushing launcher force closes also

so if you use adb push and push the launcher to /system/app you get force close? that is weird because I pushed it myself this morning and it works fine. I see the explorer wont work I thought it would but I will try to get an update.zip made tonight. Sorry for the delay.

I push the launcher and had no problems works great. I'm om cyn 5.0.6 test 1

Problems Porting X10 ROM to G1

So the guys over in the X10 Forum got the system dump from the X10 posted

I'm working on porting bits of it to my G1 as a side project/learning experiment. I'm using Cyanogen's latest release as a base and I got some various parts moved over, but I'm getting the error "E:Can't find update script" when flashing, even though I have the script at META-INF\com\google\android\update-script. It's unmodified from Cyan's base.
Is there something I need to add to the update-script to include the parts from the X10 system dump I added?

is your meta-inf folder intact? there should be other files in there besides the com folder.

Yup, heres the structure:
META-INF
-com
--google
---android
----update-script
-CERT.RSA
-CERT.SF
-MANIFEST.MF

i had some errors like this... try changing the name of your update.zip

I managed to port it over, but it was just a themed 1.6, couldn't get any of the X10 apps to work (do you have to do something differently with the .odex files?) It booted fine though.
I can send you my update-script if that will help at all?

Thanks for the reply, the original file name was x10-test-1-signed.zip, I changed it to test.signed.zip and it did the same thing. I also tried update.zip with the same result.

Hey Meltus, that would be helpful, then i can compare the 2 and see what im missing.

also: if you leave the odex files out, the system will create them automatically, that might help?

I thought it was in the build prop? I didnt see it in there though. not in the one i have anyway.

actually, i bet if you changed this line in the build prop:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
to
ro.sf.lcd_density=160
it would probably help

Not sure why it's not finding the file. Try redoing the folder layout.

I tried rebuilding, no go. would you mind sending me what you have? maybe we can get that working?

Well, my update.zip doesn't do anything atm. (gonna deodex all the files first and see if that works) but it flashes. It only works if you fastboot all the .img's first and then flash the update.zip though.

I often found that you don't ZIP the main folder you keep your data, system and other folders in, but the ones inside it. You select all of them, ZIP and name it "update". Then sign. Try using this method.

What are you using the zip the archive? Try using 7-zip? Sounds like Android doesn't know how to unzip your zip file.

How to change the default call picture?

Could someone help me with this? Is it a regular PNG, is it a apk, or what? I have no idea at all of where to find it...
The picture I'm talking about is the Android that is on the screen when you make calls to numbers that don't have a contact photo.
Any and all help is, of course appreciated.

I think it's in framework-res.apk
Check /system/framework/framework-res.apk, unzip it and look inside, it should be somewhere there.

Hey thank you. I found it, and I've edited, zipped up, and signed the apk file, but, for some reason, it won't let me install it.
Is there anyone who can take a look over this and see what I did wrong?
I'm using HTC Sync to push the file through to install it, but it's not letting me do it on the phone end.

Try this:

adb shell rm /system/app/Phone.apk
adb push *your apk's name* /system/app/Phone.apk

I don't know about doing it as an installable apk file. I take a flashable .zip, open it (not extract... just double click into it) browse to the apk, drag and drop the new .png, and close it back up. Then I just flash the zip using Rom Manager.

Push the original apk back to your phone and reboot
take a copy of the original and then try inserting the .png into the "phone.apk" without extracting or changing it... and repush it to your phone

That works, but I know how I screwed it up thinking back... I forgot that it was a system apk (total brain fart) and unsigned and resigned the apk and all of that.

Riptide9, I love you work. I put your anti-apple blue dude in the phone apk, four in contacts, and three in framework before I flash cm. You should theme aosp roms.

Figured I'd post this guide in case anyone else wanted to do the same,
Instructions:
1 nandoid backup
2 download the attached .rar file
3 adb devices
4 adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
(make a backup copy of this file)
5 open the apk file with winrar
6 insert the .png files that are in the attached rar file into the framework-res.apk's \res\drawable-hdpi folder
7 adb remount
8 adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
9 adb reboot

Update i saw the" blacky emotes" and i would say yes you can if you had all the icons the right sizes
I decided to try other icons and i found out that....
- nandroid backup is a must just in case you mess anything up!
- If it is not the right size 24 x 24 px it will show a blank space instead of an icon.
-While doing this process you will see a FC error but that's ok just adb reboot
POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR FC ERRORS!
- If you do not adb pull before you abd push.
- Receiving a text while trying this out.
Not 100% sure because both of these things happend within the same try!
-I noticed that i actually put >PNG instead of .png and that may have been the problem.
NOW IT"S WORKING WILL UPDATE WITH A IMAGE!
SINCE I AM ACTUALLY DOING A LOT FOR THIS AND WILL TRY TO DO MORE I WILL CREATE MY OWN POST!

Google contacts? Make sure that your google account is still there...if it isnt re-add/sign back into google account.

Hm. I can use any pixel size. HTC Evo 4G seems to support most (I'm on 40x40 now). Using kawaii kitty faces from MSN :3

Anyway of doing this with APK Manager? Or NinjaMorph?

well....use root explorer, navigate to system/app and extract the framework, replace the emoticons, and copy-paste the mms app back where it came from

Just wanted to add my testimony.
This works, but it will remove all your accounts from the Accounts section, thus removing you contacts, and resetting your wallpaper, and probably other personal settings.
However, setting them back was easy, and re-adding the account was also easy. Got all my contacts back and so on.
