So I can't get my custom boot animation to show. It's just a black screen when i reboot nothing more, I have done the 3rd line trick, I'm pretty sure my desc.txt is correct. I will upload my bootanimation.zip so people can hopefully correct me.
I have the Evo 3D running MIUI.
One more thing is when i copy over my bootanimation.zip to my phone no matter if its adb push or sdcard mount it never copys over the numbers in order. For instance i would copy over my bootanimation.zip and it would go in the order of 1,102,103,115 ect....
EDIT:I realized my files and my desc were not the same name so I changed that..Stupid mistake, I changed the compresion to store instead of normal, I made sure i had a third line using notepad++, and yet i still get a black screen...I think it might be because when i copy over my they don't stay in the order they were in origanlly. I will post a screen shot of this.

Lastly i added the newly updated bootanimation.zip that i tried fixing...
EDIT2:I finally got it to show up!! I think it may have been the pics per second were to fast. I had it at 13 originally and changed it to 5 that seemed to work as it shows now...The only problem im having is the files are still not in order as shown above.

make sure that when you compress the file to zip its set to "store" and the option is set to add and update files. Also make sure that you leave a blank line in the end of the desc.txt file.
(Note) if you have modified the files inside the archive then you have to compress the zip again with the same settings

Using the tools and info from pfcsabre and the below link I created some initial splash screen .nbh files. This replaces the very first picture you see when you turn on your phone and displays your radio version and such. If you want to make your own use this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436105
Since I spent a little bit of time making these files and other files I haven't uploaded yet, I figured I would share them. I will probably upload more later.
Instructions: - Make sure your phone is Hard-SPL
1. Download the RaphaelCustomRUU.zip and unzip it to the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file.
2. Download one of the Splash.zip files and unzip it to the same folder as the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file (Make sure there is only 1 .nbh file in the same folder as the .exe,,, if you download multiple splashes put them in a subfolder)
3. Connect your phone to your PC and Run the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file and follow the prompts. Its the exact same method as burning a ROM, but these files only replace the Splash screen and nothing else.
4. It will take about 20-30 seconds to burn and your phone will reboot displaying the pics in full 480*640 resolution.
5. These look incredible when you first boot up your phone.

I just overwrite the image to what the default boot screen was. (You can find out what the original filename was somewhere in Advanced Config)

This process changes the 1st boot screen, the one with the red letters in the lower right corner. It cannot be done within Windows by overwriting a file, it must be burnt in. When turning on your phone you can have up to 4 pictures, This boot screen process, follow by up to 2 splash screens (usually windows & operator splashes), then your wallpaper.
Hey everyone, I just finished my first releasable boot animation. As the title suggests, it is an animation of the American flag being raised over mt suribachi on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima during WWII. Not only is this a full animation of it being raised, but you also have the option to have a sound in the background. I will be including my sound version with a clip from the song "Killing in the Name Of" by RATM. There is also a non sound version for those of you that want a stealthy boot up, say if you were in school.
both zips are flashable through cwm recovery
How To install them :
1. copy/move the bootanimtionwithsound.zip/bootanimationnosound.zip file to your SDcard
2. Reboot into CLOCKWORKMod Recovery
3. goto " Install Zip from SDCard "
4. goto " Choose Zip from SDcard "
5. goto where you have the animation zip file
6. highlight the animation you want and press the camera key
7. Install the Animation.
8. Press Back key.
9. then " Reboot system now "
If you want sound, but dont want the RATM sound, find a .mp3 file, edit it down to about 10 seconds of your favorite part, save it as Android_Audio.mp3; then extract the contents of the bootanimationwithsound.zip to your desktop and navigate through the folders data and local and replace the mp3 with yours, and then do the same for the system then media folder. Then highlight the things you extracted and right click add to archive. rename to what you want and then select .zip, then change the compression method to STORE and click ok/done/ what ever it is. then you can move it to you sdcard and use the above steps to install it. Have Fun!

UPDATE: You just need to rename the ****PC36IMG.zip to just PC36IMG.zip and then push to the root of your sdcard and boot into Hboot and it will flash.

I figured I would start the thread with the splash screens I make and I would love to do any requests for people. Just post an image that you want me to create into a splash screen or tell me what you want and I'll see if I can do it. I'm not very good in paint.net or photoshop yet but I can try my best (or have my adobe certified brother do it for me lol)
Anyway, here is the link to the archive and the batch file inside flashes the image for you. If anyone who knows how wants to create a pc36img zip for it, you're welcome to and I'll add it to the main post.

HTC and CIQ Quietly watching you.
This is the second splash screen that I made and since I remember the CIQ issues everyone has, I figured I would take a shot at it.
Same thing as before, just use the batch script until I figure out how to make a PC36IMG.zip
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/CIQ&HTC.rar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iphone Joke
same rules as above for flashing. Just unzip folder and run the batch file.

update: here is the PC36IMG.zip file for it remove the Iphone from the name.

Warm Synergy
Alright, for the auto-flashing without manually going into bootloader, follow the same instructions as before
for flashing to via bootloader name "warmPC36IMG.zip" to PC36IMG.zip and boot into bootloader and it will automatically flash.
Download for normal zip to flash automatically: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/Warm Synergy.zip
Download for PC36IMG: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/warmPC36IMG.zip

Shooter Rom
Same way to install as above
Auto install link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/Shooter.zip
PC36IMG install: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/ShotPC36IMG.zip
Here is the Android Sauce one. Did not try to flash it myself, but should work fine. Obviously just rename to PC36IMG.zip and flash through bootloader.
Thanks for posting that, I'll try flashing it
No problem, let me know.
Worked fine and I just found out that I only had to change the name to Splash1.img
I am a noob at this stuff but I just used the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146515 so not sure if it's as easy as just renaming the image.
Awesome! I remember when i first tried doing this it almost bricked my phone hehe

Based on the guide that provided by Android Authority
Copy the corresponding bootanimation.zip to your devices SDCard. Using Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, place the new bootanimation.zip file in /system/media/. (You may want to backup your previous bootanimation.zip as well.)
You can also use "boot animation changer" it less of a hassle then go trough the exploren.
Just a tip, select the boot animation you want and youre golden. I am just lazy.
You can also just copy it to /data/local.
Android will use the /data/local boot animation before /system/media.
No need to backup the boot animation in /system/media.
If you want to go back to the original boot animation, just delete the one you copied to /data/local.
Problem half bootanimation
Hi
I'm sorry but I have a problem with this bootanimation.
I copy the bootanimation as bootanimation.zip into the folder /data/local/, when I restart my device, I have only the part0 of the bootanimation.
Do you know what's happens and if there is a solution?
Thanks
I find the solution, there are two ".db" files in the filder part0 and part1,
to do it working, you have to delete these files.
Bye
Also make sure you give the boot animation full permissions after you move it to /system/media or /data/local.
fantastic, I've previusly the 9th bootanimation but it was a little slow....this one goes faster (as the gif you posted) thank you very much
you can call me a fool in this case
but anyway please help..
so please, hear my whole story first, so that you can examine the solution quickly.
my phone is: samsung W gt-i8150, rom: Liquid Smooth 2.9. build 3
first story. i wanted to replace the phone.apk with the one cm 10.1 own. so i copy phone.apk from CM10.1 zip file (that i got from arco official site). i wanted to copy it to root/system/app with X-plore root manager. but i cannot copy it even with superuser previllage.
second story. with no desperate to try, i delete phone.apk from system/app. then error message shown "com.android. bla bla not working". i dont remember whole message. i press OK, but the message keep showing up. can not get rid of the message, i decided to turn off my phone by holding power key. and after reboot, phone dont show signal bar, and of course, i can not make a call eventhough phone app could be opened.
third story. i'd remembered from somewhere, that i can flash apk with zip. then i decided to experiment a bit. i dont read any tutorial how to make update.zip (that's my fatal mistake.. my bad). i make my 'own version' flashable zip. making the original LS zip as an example. i deleted everything, and leave some that i thought important as you can see below :

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The 'phone.apk' there, is the one i copied from cm 10.1 zip folder.
finally i install the zip via cwm recovery hope it'll work. i have seen your first paragraph LS instalation, but then it said "failed". and NOW, my phone ended with bootloop. it just stuck at samsung logo.
PLEASE,, how to fix this?? i dont want to re-install all over from the start... :crying:
