I understand that Roto's Modem switcher allow calls on 2G and data on 3G on galaxy tab from T-Mobile. I have a galaxy tab from T-Mobile which i am using in Canada on Wind Mobile network which is AWS 1700/2100 similar to T-Mobile USA, however, Wind Mobile only have 3G network no 2G.
I am running 2.3.3 and T-Mobile Modem which allows me to connect to 3G for data and send and receive text, however, when i dial a number the calls ends itself. Any ideas, if i can use a modified modem bin to solve the issue.

I have my wifes Verizon S3 that I updated to jellybean to get global capabilities, then I rooted the phone and was able to set a custom APN.
Im in Costa Rica and using the phone for voice and data. I have both working, however I am not connecting to the 3G network here, only the 2G edge network with slow speeds. My RAZR MAXX is connecting to the 3G HSPDA network just fine and the speeds are actually quite impressive. The APN settings in my RAZR are identical to those in the S3.
Is there a setting somewhere or something that I can do to force the S3 to connect to 3G data and not 2G? Ive check every setting I can find and I see nothing.

Perhaps a custom ROM? Or is there an app that will let me manage the radios/frequencies?
The phone only has one 3G UMTS/HSPA/+ band, and that is 2100 MHz.
It's possible that the network you are using in Costa Rica doesn't support the above band, and your other phone has additional bands that the network does support!
hello everyone!
i bought a 2nd hand original t-mobile N900T, everything is fine but network, 2g/GSM isworking fine but when i try to switch it to WCDMA ONLY it won't register on the network, i resetted the device but no result, here in afghanistan gsm network is annoying, i have activated 3g data package, it never turns to H or H+ , its olways E,
please help me guys, what should i do, should change the network hardware or what?

i have LG G2 D801 but whenever i activate Mobile Data connection its still on Edge while 3G is available i can't use 3G what i can do pls help me its my request to all experts

With the D801 you can select the network mode under Settings -> Tethering & networks -> Mobile networks -> Network mode. There should be 4 options:
GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
GSM/WCDMA auto
WCDMA only
GSM only
If both GSM and WCDMA are avalable and you are in one of the auto modes and the phone uses GSM (maybe because the WCDMA signal is weak) you can select WCDMA only.

What frequencies does you carrier use for 3G? According to LG the D801 does 1, 2, 4 and 5, which according to Wikipedia are 2100, 1900, 1700 and 850MHz.

Another possibility is that your SIM card is only provisioned for 2G. I had that happen to me in the opposite way with H2O which only allowed access to the WCDMA network but not the GSM (before they added LTE). You may want to contact Mobilink and request a different SIM card.

It might be like ATT here in the states where you must notify the provider of the phone IMEI if you want 4g before they can provision it.
Looks like Mobilnk is uses 2100, so it should work.

Guys I need Help I have G2 D801 using Zong in Pakistan my sim is 4G capable and provisioned and they transmit on 2100hz so that's not a problem as well but still no signals in wcdma only mode I can't get anything above 2G so please find a solution for this I even installed Cm12 for it but still no use

4G/LTE Pakistani Band 3 1800 isnt present in D801.
So you can get 3G HSPA+ only on 2100MHz...
Check APN settings
Resolved for me
My LG G2 had same problem. Changing DNS or modifying APN not resolve it.
I found reason of problem. After several ROM update, my LG G2 IMEI may be damaged. If you see in Cellular Network → Network Operator, these’s only one record for each operator.
I did backup my imei 2 years ago, now I restore it using LG backup IMEI app. After restore my IMEI, i see two same row operator’name in Network Operator. I can connect 3G again after several months without 3G.
If you did not backup IMEI, you can folowing instructions in forums to restore IMEI. Please googling !
International Roaming: Can't connect to any mobile networks. LG G3 D850 in Korea & JP

I'm traveling in Korea and Japan with an unlocked AT&T LG G3 (D850) and I'm not able to get any phone or data service at all. My service provider is T-Mobile back in the USA and I've traveled with them before on my previous LG G2 with no problems.
Many network operators show up when I search, but they either have a lock icon next to them or it says "can't connect to this network right now". I've tried setting the mode to LTE, 3G, and 2G.
I've also tried entering the foreign network's APN settings and entering in T-Mobile's roaming APN as shown here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/help/international-roaming-g3-t2834451
I thought it might be a ROM issue (I was on CM 13), so I flashed the original 4.4.2 AT&T firmware .TOT.
I don't know what else to do :/ Hopefully someone can help?
