Does glass back come with a plastic film on it? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just received a g920i. The phone was covered in one of those plastic covers that covers both the front and the back in a single piece of folded plastic. I removed that.
Does the glass back also have a separate plastic film attached to it? The back of my phone seems to have some defects in the back that almost appear to be little ripples/bubbles in a plastic film. Problem is, I don't think there is a plastic film on the back, so it appears it may just be a defect.
Any thoughts?

I also have a g920i. There was no separate plastic on the back when I opened the box.

Thanks for the info. My concern is not so much the bubbles/ripples themselves, but that they indicate a weakness or defect in the back that might make it easier to crack. I'll see if I can get a picture of it.

Moko Ultra Slim Case issue

Well I really liked this case, I've had it for about 2 months. Yesterday one of the two magnet strips in embedded in the plastic that hold the cover close came out of the plastic and stayed on the lid's metal clip. I figured, well I'll just super glue it in and it'll be fine. But this morning I took a really good look at the case and found two hairline cracks in the plastic, one around each of the magnet pockets. I pulled on the pocket without the magnet in it with my fingernail and it broke the plastic. Very brittle! So I'm still going to try and glue it back together but does anyone else see these hairline cracks in their case? I've never dropped my note with/without the case. The only thing I can think that could even contribute to it would be having it in my truck in the center console in the summer. Never exposed to long direct sunlight, certainly nothing that would cause the case to become brittle.
I have had that case since May. It is my favorite case.
I have had no problems with it, and none of the "magnet problems" that some speak of. That may be because the magnets are strong enough for the job but quite weak in some ways.
When using the case as a stand I find the magnet to case actually weak.
I thought the case was great, until I saw the effect it had on the digitizer. With Artflow, whenever I drew near the left edge, the SPen produced severe scribbles. I was not able to draw a single straight line. I'm worried if it would permanently damage my digitizer, as that is the most important part of this tablet. I'm now looking for a stand-case without a magnet.
I'm planning to sell this case for $10 including shipping. If anybody's interested please contact me.

One of THESE slim folio cases. I removed the magnet easily, and as it's hidden under the hand strap, you can't even tell.

My magnets came out too, both of them. I glued them back in, although I figured out that you need to let them sit up a bit so the cover stays closed I see the start of cracks where the magnets are, but no real cracks.
My magnets are fine, no screen issues to note.

Are the magnets really doing damage??? They have been using magnets in case for years...
I think that the magnet damage is a myth.

Yeah, I've used them for years without issue as well...the magnets do interfere with s-pen usage, not sure of long term effects to the screen (ie dead spots)tho.

Removing paint from metal sides

What are people's thoughts on removing the black/white paint on the metal sides so that the whole trim is silver/brushed aluminium? Good or bad idea?
What would be the best way to do it? Rubbing lightly with a scourer while holding a vacuum nozzle nearby to make sure fine particles don't get into the phone?
Some sort of solvent?
What sort of problems could occur?

Sorry to say but it sounds like a bad idea.. How do you know it's all brushed silver underneath? I guess, as long as you don't scratch it with too much force, you will be fine.. Not sure about the parts surrounding the antenna's though
First, the material is definitely not silver. Most likely aluminum unless samsung went with magnesium like moto did.
From careful inspection the shiny aluminum bezel is not a single piece along with the painted frame so I can't guarantee you that they are even the same material and appear the same once the paint is stripped off.
Finally, paint seems highly unlikely. Note 3 had painted plastic frames which deteriorated very quick. If it's using aluminum my best guess would be that it's been anodized.
Not an expert but to get rid of anodizing I believe you dunk the material in a pool of solvent which I definitely don't think you want to do with your phone.
I definitely wouldn't try to remove it by rubbing it, you would end up with uneven areas.

I probably should have said silver coloured not silver as I agree that the material is definitely not silver. I have noticed some people mentioning that their note 4/note edge had easily developed scratches on the coloured part of the frame. I was wondering if this meant the coating was not extremely hard to remove. If a very gentle abrasive pad was rubbed along the sides in a consistent lengthwise motion, do you think that it would scratch it enough to expose the metal underneath? I am not really considering this for myself as I am super careful with my phones (although I don't use a case) but if someone's sides got very scratched up then would this be an option to hide the scratches within many small scratches (brushed look)?
I agree that we can't really tell what is under the coating in terms of colour or joins etc.

Unless you have worked with aluminum before and have extensive experience in working with it. I doubt that even if you could rub it off you would never be able to do it evenly.
Basically you will do more damage than you would hide most likely
I can see it now people opening up phone body shops for custom paint jobs..and not just screen repairs. .lol

Its aluminium underneath the paint.
Its aluminium underneath the paint. Atleast for the white model. Just a thick coat of white paint over the aluminium. Saw a demo phone's paint chipped due to a dent so I know for sure.

Ya if this ever happens I'll just let it all chip haha I doubt I'd be ever be able to get a smooth finish once again.
I don't think it will ever chip off. The finish is very well done and nothing like the paint over plastic of previous galaxy phones.

Don't get me wrong but:
Well the s6 frame is metal if the bumper case is also metal so what do you expect?
Following the physical laws every little motion between them scratches them as both are hard enough to penetrate the other...
I would stay away from metal bumpers unless they have a soft inner coating :good:

I have the same issue you need a case where it has a lip that covers the entire edge of the phone so no little bits of muck can get between the case and the phone causing scratches. It seems to scratch way more easy then any other phone I have owned. I'm trying out a new case now to see if it stops doing it and I have ordered a new metal frame so will probably get the metal frame replaced at some point as it is really annoying me

Spigen Liquid Crystal S6 question

Hi, I have a question about Spigen Liquid Crystal case. I would like to know if the dotted pattern doesn't scratch or leave marks on the glass back panel after some time using it. Thank you
Any dirt between case and phone will eventually cause it to scratch, I had to threaten legal action to get my glass replaced due to the s-view case damaging the screen, buy a rear protector so you have something physically stuck to the back glass that cannot move and take the damage instead of the phone.

The dots will only be visible if you look at it from a certain angle. And no, the dots won't cause any damage/ visible marksto the phone's rear back.
GoNz0 and Rakcoon thank you for your help.
I have Spigen's transparent case on my phone.
It's been about 8 months.
The back of the case is horribly scratched up like hell.
The entire case itself has turned yellowish, which is normal for silicone and perfect for my golden S6.
The edges and sides of the case however turned reddish, you know like redhead women? Like that, however the colour change is not that prominent and it actually looks cool. It's visible only from certain angles though.
However, I use a blower to make sure to dust gets trapped in-between the back of my phone and the inside of the case, so I don't really have scratches on the back of my phone.
Protection wise? It's worth it, doesn't really add too much bulk, but it's good enough for protection from drops about 4 feet onto concrete floor. Get Nillkim's Amazing H+ tempered glass to protect the front, that's what I'm using on my S6.
Don't ask for photos of it, I'm too lazy to do that.
Hit the thanks button beneath this post if it was useful to you.

Note 7 edge to edge full adhesive screen protector

I have skimmed through the pages in the other tempered glass screen protector threads. I have yet to find a manufacturer who makes an edge to edge protector that adheres to the entire screen rather than just the top and bottom.
My issue is that with a water proof device, anytime it is exposed to water (every day for me as I place it on the shelf in the shower to listen to music), water becomes trapped underneath the tempered glass.
Anyone picked up a model that would remedy this?
no one currently makes one
Why did you feel the need to open a whole new thread for something that has been discussed at length in many other threads? no, there is no solution yet.
Doesn't the official Samsung one do this ?
The official Samsung one is plastic, not glass.
The official Samsung one is not tempered glass.
I strongly advice against getting curved tempered glass. Or any screen protector with curve protection.
I got my replacement Note 7 and I decided to just use a flat film protector and leave the sides exposed. So much easier to use this way.
which flat one did you get!

It feels like **** though. I had an IQ Liquid Shield on my old Note 7, and it felt nice in the hand. Barely a bump in feeling, some around the edges but not really noticeable. This current new Note 7 has factory screen protectors, both front and back. But they feel sharp and edgy, they don't cover the curves. I have actual sleeping nightmares about applying a brand new IQ Liquid Shield protector I already have, and it peeling horribly at corners. fEa.r me..?
Yeah. So I got my replacement n7 today. Picked up a Qmadix "first defense" screen protector. Guess what? It's edge to edge and the adhesive goes all the way around the screen. Just got out of the shower (phone got soaked), no water under the glass.
There is no reason to be rude.. Obviously, the other threads "discussed at length" on the subject failed to stumble upon this gem.
Thanks everyone. I'm only 5 hours in but I have no complaints. No halo, sits flush. Thicker than the Verizon branded one I had previously. Has kind of a unique cut out for the Samsung logo. I also purchased a camera, hearbeat sensor, and home button glass.. I'm set lol.
Edit: forgot to mention the Qmadix also comes in all three colors. I purchased black respectively.

Not make a new thread for the EXACT same thing. It's just annoying to have multiple threads for literally the exact same topic. Surely you get that.

i tried dozens of them looks just like that, most of them only have adhesive on the sides or the top+bottom. all returned.
i suspect this one will be the same, but its not available to purchase on Amazon yet. Guest i will try this too.
i will report see how it goes. but i have no hope at all.
case friendly and curved too on the design like that..?? dont know thats legit or not.
This will work 100%, even my case won't peel the screen cover.

you must get this specific version for the full cover. there's a lot of different variations. also let the film completely dry before you even attempt to wrap down the sides. you can use your palms, squeegee, and blow dryer. Remember the water spray is only for help with placement. When this film dries, its very stick and adhesive.
i just hate TPU material, its spongy, soft, leaves imprints and a weird texture. but it does full cover. tempered glass and PET film will never do that.

the sides of the case overlap the screen protector with zero lifting. it would obviously work the same way for any case, even those that cover the top and bottom

I have the same protector updated version on my note 7. Did the shrink wrap trick too when i applied it. Came out nice after 12hrs. Once I put my UAG case it started to lift edges. I had to use a credit card to slide case phone in without lifting edges. So I thought I was all good right. Nope a day later it started to lift on the top side and bottom side. I have to smooth it back to down continuously. So either you got lucky or you case does not life the edges.

maybe it was the way you put it on? as in one side you will comfortable be able to tuck it under but the other side kinda snapped on and slid/lifted the cover in order for the case to snap on?

Just installed this. I think i know why most companies only use glue on the top or bottom. The quality of the product is good. The packaging is great but i would rather get something a little more simple and maybe save on the cost.
I have yet to turn on my replacement N7 so i cant speak on clarity but the fit is decent. It even works with my Seidio Dilex case on even though its "full screen"
Here is my one problem so far (its only been an hour since install) there is a slight clicking sound when you press on some areas. The edges etc. This is the reason why i think most companies dont use glue on the sides. I think this is where the clicking sound is coming from. I think i installed it as best as i could but who knows. Maybe its my fault.
Im going to try to use it for a while to see how well it works and if i can stand the clicking sound. This is my 1st glass screen protector for the N7 and i dont think ill try more in the future. I just wanted to try one out.
