Hello i just picked up the G2X phone today and upon leaving the store the phone had begun to have data issues. Meaning it was not keeping its connection, which left me with no functionality to the internet.

No such issues or complaints on this. Were you on wifi in the store?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
No, wifi wasn't enabled in the store. As a matter of fact, i actually tried to use the wifi when 4G begun having data issues and was unable to find any networks.
Mine has randomly disconnected from 4G as well, although the status bar still shows it connected. If I restart the phone it comes back on.
I think it may have something to do with toggling on wifi, but it has also happened after just sitting idle for an extended period, and wont come back on.

Well, I think LG should of did a lot more QC before they even though about dropping this phone on the shelves. There is also a lot of little stuff that this phone is just not doing that my optimus T did flawlessly.
I'd have to agree. I'd recommend having your sim card replaced to see if that helps.

Had the same issue. Out was my sim card. I had been using my original card which wasn't compatible with the new technology. Once I put in the new card it was all good.

Interesting ill tell you how i was able to get the phone. I was actually on flex pay the TM rep ported my number to a new line on our family line. Before that happened i was using a different number that wasnt attached to the sim card i am using now and 4G internet was working correctly on that sim card. But, Now that you have stated your issue. i think im going back to the tmobile store and see if they can get a new sim card for me.
So I'm not the only one with the network issue. seems like as soon as I disconnect from wifi I lose network connectivity. I still see my signal but can't access the internet at all. Totally locks up until I reboot. Which is proving to be a pain in the butt.
I'm going to t-mobile today to get a new sim card to see if that changes anything, mine is currently from Oct 28th 2008. The day the G1 was first released. Can't even read the numbers anymore. But to my knowledge the cards haven't changed. Guess I'll see if this fixes the issue.

I get real sluggish results from my g2x, my nexus one ran fine...
I am going to try the sim card and see if that fixes it.

That is the way it is designed. When you have WiFi on, it disables your Cellular data to save power. Hence why the 4G icon disappears.
When you disable WiFi, it has to reenable the Cellular Data. So it takes a sec.
Now if it NEVER comes back then there is a problem. But don't expect it to be instantaneous.

When I have wifi on, the 4g icon still comes on and off constantly. When wifi is off, 4g icon still blinks on then off constantly. Still don't have any data. New sim card didn't help either. I go through a battery in about 4 hours because its constantly connecting and disconnecting to the network.
LG sucks.
I'm pretty much convinced this is related to Wifi calling. Try disabling that (this will also help your battery life something serious - take a look at devices logs when wifi calling is enabled.)

When I upgraded my G1 to my G2x, they said they had to give me a new SIM card because the old one won't do 4G. According to the sales person I spoke with, you will need a new SIM card.
Can you keep your old number with a new sim card? My sim card is the same one from my first phone, nokia 3390
I'm having the same problem.. I used a new sim card and I still can't get any 3G or 4g for that matter.. Any ideas or is my phone defective??

Hi since I can't find a forum for the One XL I assume it's shared within this one.
I just got my One XL yesterday and it's been having what seems to be a SIM card problem. The phone will be normal sometimes but will lose all mobile connectivity suddenly. Is this a known problem? The connectivity comes back on its on but it could be after a few minutes or few hours. Apart from returning the phone, is there anything I can do? Note that WiFi works perfectly.
Yes sir that would be a common issue among the hox .

When you say "XL," so you mean an imported XL from Asia? Rogers? AT&T? The AT&T's the one having some radio issues. I don't think the Rogers' is. And if you imported yours there could be a number of reasons you're having connectivity issues.
@barryH_GEG: I live in Hong Kong and the One XL has the right bands for 4G and HSPA+.
@tyshemi: is there a software fix to this or is returning it the only option?

Gentlemen,
What the h.. is with this phone? I got it as well last Friday and I have exactly the same problem - it loses all mobile connectivity and only emergency calls can be done .. for which a SIM card won't be needed. It doesn't look like a software pronlem to me, it looks more like a hardware problem! I've seen this behavior immediately after I received the phone and I immediately went with the phone in a Vodafone shop. The guy did not look surprise at all. He took out the micro SIM for couple of times and after wards it worked OK. I went home and after couple oh hours it happened again!!!
@ HTC developers:
Gentlemen, are you joking with this device? What's going on in the testing team?
Indeed it is a LTE phone - and it is known already that there are lots of problems with the 4G software, but the SIM card not to be seen by the mobile? How could this be possible???
Please do something about this!
I will send back this device immediately!
Cheers
I myself have exchanged my HOX for this issue twice now. AT&T knows about this issue and refers to it as a manufacturing defect with the SIM card reader while not in a LTE area.

In Australia, we have this issue on our 32GB One XL. Apparently it's a particular version of micro SIM. One specific version has this issue, the other doest.
I've seen it happen a couple of times on mine since I got it. If it happens again, I'm going to put some very thing pieces of paper under the sim card to make it marginally thicker and press firmer against the contacts when it's inserted.

Hi guys,
Just to give you an update about my HTC ONE XL. Unfortunately, I have only bad news about it !
I went yesterday to Vodafone shop and they changed the micro SIM card. They gave me a different one - also a brand new one, and I have the same problem, the phone loses the connection with the SIM card. Since yesterday it happened already twice! I've seen some discussions here about the WiFi. Just to mention that in my case the Wifi can be used, only the network is gone and stays gone until I restart the phone.
HTC ONE X also loses the connection with the SIM?
My micro SIM card does not have a 4G subscription anyway..
Cheers
Try putting tape on the plastic side of the microSIM to see if maybe you can get a more solid connection?
My One XL would keep loosing reception and saying "no sim" even though it was clearly working. I deactivated my SIM pin and it seems to have stopped dropping out and saying "no sim" Give it a try.
I have One XL and I have no sim issues, it could be the piece that you use. As for the signal drop, it does happen to me sometime, and I think it tries to connect at LTE then goes back 3G. Try to force 3G only then try.
Setting on network menu could help too. Try *#*#4636#*#*

Hi guys,
I sent back the phone last week and yesterday I got a new one with a "newer" IMEI. Since yesterday, the phone did not lose the connection with the SIM card.
I was told that, indeed, some of the first HTC ONE XL modeles released on the market had the problem described by us on this forum/topic. The nature of the problem, hardware or software is not known to me so far but I believe it's a bit of both..
Cheers
This happened to me and updating radios to 1.88 or higher fixed it. did not work well with 1.85 radio. Radios dont come with custom roms. They have to be installed separately or with a ruu. There is a radio thread in development. You must be rooted. Ive only had 1 person tell me they still had problems after updating.. if it doesnt fix it, get another phone. Its a legit reason. Main reason for a phone is to make calls. kinda hard to do that with no mobile connection. :crying:
Edit: here is the radio thread. 1.88 or higher. 1.88 is my favorite. The telus seems to be great also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012

I recall the comments above. The connection with the SIM card was also lost for the new HTC ONE XL phone, but this time after about 40 hours !

i have question though.. the guys who have sim problem does your network drop from 3-4 bars to 0?.. in mine i have noticed that it actually drops to 1 and then only goes to 0 bars for 2 sec.. then catches up... but if i keep it to gsm only mode.. i get full bars all the time... what do you guys think is the problem.. network or the phone has bad way to switch between the network types?
and jsut in general the network fluctuates a lot on this phone.
I have the F-02E. I set up the APN for T-mobile UK and things were fine until i switched wifi on and the signal disappeared. i restarted the phone disabling wifi before hand. it was working fine.....is there a way to sort this out.
Another problem is when i open whatsapp to verify my number, it failed the first time with sms due to signal disappearing, second time it asked to call, the second i click the call button signal disappears and i can't receive or make calls, i have tested this several times, waited an hour pressed the button waited 10 mins pressed the button, same thing happens.....Any ideas as to why?
Hey man,
Did you manage to sort this. I am sort off ordered this phone. Does this support 3g mobile data? I am in the UK. How is this phone for general use?

I know it's too late now to advise you. Are you enjoying the phone?
I bought mine mainly because of the camera and screen. I am not disappointed with the screen but cannot say the same about the camera. The camera software is a joke with very loud shutter sound that cannot be turned off.
One other thing that bothers me is the heat. When I am using Internet on 3g,it gets so hot and the phone keeps shutting down or else I shut data off or turn on wifi instead. And the battery life is very unimpressive.
I was using galaxy a3 4g, so I was able to see the difference. I respect Samsung more now.
The Fujitsu is a nice phone anyway except for these niggles.
Hi all,
I've had this great phone MT7-L09 (softare version L09V100R001C00B127) since last December. My problem is that every now and then the 4g cuts off for a period of ten seconds.
It does not matter how strong the signal is nor which or whatever app I'm using. It just loses network. First thing I did was to change the old sim card to a new one. Did not help.
I was in contact with the Huawei support and conclusion was to send phone to service. OK. It came back with the same problem altough they changed the circuit board...so obviously they though that this would solve the problem. I did not. After messing around with it, trying to find if someone else was suffering with the same problem, with no luck, I send it back to service. Now they said that there is nothing wrong with it, but the problem is still there.
I havent noticed anything cut offs using 3g. It's not a major thing but it would be nice to know if its a firmware or any other software related problem.
If I use Netflix or similar where the data keeps coming it works just fine or if I use the phone as Wi-Fi hotspot, no problems.
It just loses network connection using apps like play store, facebook, whatsapp, twitter, every browser ie. firefox, build in browser, chrome, to name a few.
Should I just keep using it as it is or keep sending it back to service until they fix this issue???
Thanks

Sorry...one stupid question: have you already tried keeping the phone completely stock (without any application and/or software or any kin dof personalisation) for a couple of week and see if the problem still exists?
It really seems to me a software problem. Very strange.
I had the same problem with my MT7-TL10 golden version. For a week or so, the network used to come and go. Then ultimately the sim was not recognized at all. I sent it to Huawei service center and they told me that the sim slot is broken and I had to pay for replacement of the board which I refused. I was sure that I didn't break it. Now I am using my phone with one sim only.

I'm not sure, but isn't the sim card slot located on the circuit board??? If it is, it cannot be the problem, but I must try the second slot anyhow.

Does not work, same problem after a numerous resettings. If I may add, I've have couple of other phones of which this problem does not occur.
In same place and conditions these phones work just fine not losing the data connection. Sure, if 4g is not available they use 3g, but never ever will the connection break off.

faulty 4G module tuner.. phone ... replacement needed...
change preferred network
Go to settings and -->mobile networks-->>preferred network and select "WCDMA only"..
It will fix your problem..
There is no such option in my phone settings, only the option to choose automatic 4g3g2g or automatic 3g2g or 2g, 3g only and 2g only. As previously stated no data loss nor connectivity issues using 3g. It's bit annoying sometimes when phone loses data connection altogether although signal is very strong. Just waiting lollipop upgrade if it'd solve the problem, I doubt it but...
network operator..
I think it's network problem..please contact your network operator..4g network have connection problem from some local area signal towers..so you just put other network company SIM card in your local area..(use 4g supported SIM only)
Thanks for your advice, but I don't think that it's SIM card problem because there is no problem what so ever using my other phone SGS5.

Thanks, I totally missed your comment...this is turning out to be quite a puzzle. I've noticed the less battery (<60%) I've have on the phone there seems to be nothing wrong with the 4g connection. ???
To answer to myself, I was too optimistic...nothing to do with battery. It's just so weird that phone works like a charm most of time and then suddenly not. I'm confused...
Now on the newest firmware lollipop 5.1 it fixed my lte problem
same issue
I bought mate 7 a couple of days ago and I keep losing the data connection. the network gets connected and lost again.
i did everything to fix it but no luck. changed sim, restored device, modified APN and no luck.
it keeps disconnecting seems that it is a problem with the phone itself as i have read the same issue on a couple of forums..
hope it is a software issue and get fixed soon as this is annoying.
In service they replaced my phone to a new one mostly because of this problem and I can say it did not help at all. Only upgrading to lollipop will fix the problem ( tested on beta) I'm on b145 now and it does that all the time. I guess it is carrier based problem not SIM nor hardware.
Oneplus network speed is like a flat boy trying to beat usainbolt.
I've tested my HTC One m7 vs Oneplus connection and M7 is REALY fast.
Oneplus is slow, even connected with H+ it takes time to load the page, tryied different sim , 1000 modems , nothing.
Also when you try to use it as hotspot it loses signal, no loading webpages!
When this will be fixed? I think it's a real problem for this phone. More than the touchscreen issue.
I just got 35/7Mbps on speed test on mine via tmobile US. Seems fine to me.

I know that speed it's ok , but if you use the phone after some minutes network starts dropping , and even if is connected to hspa webpages does not load, or they take to much time.
I've tryied 2 different operators (i'm from italy) and nothing changed.
I havent noticed any drops at all, but I'll keep a look out for it when I do more heavy browsing on it.
