So, I just picked up my new S6. Still playing around.
I ordered a few cases on Amazon, so they should be here in a couple of days. I was looking at all the cases and didn't see one that had a metal back.
So, here are my case wants:
1. Keep it fairly slim
2. No holsters
3. Kick stand would be nice, but if it adds thickness, no thanks.
4. Must allow for wireless charging with case on.
5. Would love to be able to mount a metal plate on the back or maybe it already have a metal backing, but still allow for wireless charging. This is probably one of the most important for me. I am currently using an iOttie car mount and I love it for the fact that the magnet holds my phone (previous LG G2) so secure and it is so easy to take on and off.
These are the two mounts that I use:
http://www.amazon.com/Mount-iOttie-...418&sr=1-1&keywords=iottie+magnetic+car+mount
http://www.amazon.com/iMagnet-Cradl...im_cps_22?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ZBMZPMH36M6R4TF6518
I would mount the metal plate to the case you like and try its location first to ensure it is not blocking the wireless charging. I don't think the wireless charging will work if the metal plate is in the way.
I can confirm that the backplates that come with iOttie car mount block wireless charging. I just tried them today and figured it out. Don't use that mount if you intend to utilize wireless charging.
Mine is going back to Amazon
I have an iMagnet mount, and the metal plates absolutely block wireless charging. I experimented by just setting the plate on the charger and then setting my phone on it. There are also a lot of stories floating around of people using cases with any amount of metal having various issues.
For a slim case with a kickstand, I'd recommend the Spigen SlimArmor. My wife got it and really likes it.
ForgeI have also a Spigen case, my one is the Tough Armor, you can try with the hybrid or slim armor.
EDIT:
I forgot this link
http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/18...r-galaxy-s6-s6-edge-pre-order-on-kickstarter/
Whaaaa?? Does that really work?
The case is already metal, can't we just attach it to the magnetic holder?!?
Thanks for posting this question. I have a magnetic holder plate that inserts into the back of a case from okra. I love it. Just by chance I placed my phone without attaching the magnetic plate against the holder and it attached because the back of the S6 is metal. I was excited until my daughter mention that it may cause problems with the battery inside the phone or any other functions in the phone.
What are you thoughts on that guys?
Thanks,

If you don't use wireless charging, I couldn't see any reasonable issue with the magnetic plate/mount toward the battery. I have used the magnetic mount with my (former) iPhone 6, and I didn't see any issue with any functions of the phone at all. Someone may have better knowledge on this subject than my own amateur observations.
I noticed the same with my iMagnet mount. Unfortunately, the glass back of the phone was too slick and it would slide off. When I put a case on it, the grip of the case was enough to let the metal phone stick to the magnet, but after a few days, it started to slide, as well. If you can get a case with enough grippiness to it, it might stick to the magnet without a metal plate.
So, I know it didn't work with my LG2 no matter how I tried to position the metal plate. Inside or out of the case. It interferes with the wireless charging.
Now, with the S6, a little bigger back, using the Neo Hybrid case, putting the plate so that it just aligns with the line of the S in the Spigen logo. It works. It holds solid on both suction cup and vent mount. I put the suction cup mount on the glove compatment opened it and shook the hell out of it and it stayed in.
Next, I tried the charger at first it did the on and off charge loop, then I moved it a smidge lower and perfect, with the phone about dead center on the Samsung charge pad and it was charging away.
One note, after a few hours I took off my phone and felt the back. Warm like normal, but the metal plate was a bit warm. Not skin burning hot, but warm like I was sitting on it and let out a 10 minute fart, just without the smell.
So you're saying that the plate is nearly at the bottom of the phone?
Those who wanted to use wireless charging and having magnetic holder. IT CAN BE DONE!!!!
Dont even bother putting any metal strip on the phone. S6 itself can be put straight into the magnetic holder. It works because inside s6 contained copper wires which used for wireless charging.
Check out Airdock. It's a wireless charger and the dock is made of some sort of micro suction mat. It holds my old S4 (which has a smooth plastic back) firmly, so I would imagine it'll grip on to the S6's glass back even better. It also has built in magnets to add to the grip.

This might mean more if copper wasn't such a weakly magnetic metal. I think it has more to do with the metal body, though that's probably mostly aluminum, which is also only weakly magnetic. It's probably just the total combination of all the metal in the phone.

When I put mine on the magnetic car holder, it held pretty firmly. Going through couple of bump or sharp turn, the phone still doesn't move at all. My phone is with a transparent TPU case. I think a good quality magnetic car holder is the key. The magnet got to be strong enough and the front of the magnet need to have a rubbery surface to avoid sliding off.
My magnetic car holder is http://www.infiniappstands.com/products/the-silly-goose
Here is how I have the mount on the back of the phone.

It's secure enough where it won't fall out, but I'd get some foam and put it on the top arm so it can't rattle. That thick rubbery stuff with one glue side should work.

im hoping that snap holster will hold this as well, is yours the seidio one or just a sprint/generic one? Thanks again
I have that same battery and the sedio innocase with belt holster. If u leave the front half on the phone it fits snugly. Obviously the back won't fit anymore. But it is working out great. I am tryingto figure out a way to modify the back. Will let u know if I figure something out.

Ok. Finally modified my innocase. I cut it inhalf right below the flash hole on it then super glued it to the extended battery door. Now it fits even better in the holster. There is no movement at all.

well obviously im still waiting on the battery. Coming from hong kong. But my clip holster came in today and my god i am shocked at how sturdy this thing it. And from looking at it i think the extended battery will fit just fine in there. with no kind of movement in said clip

Could one of you brave souls take a picture of the phone in this holster but having it face forward instead of toward the case. I want to use it as a car mount with the krusell link above that I already have from other phones.

I have the Seidio holster + innocase combo and it will fit with the front facing out, but it's a tight fit. There is some resistance on the top clip when taking the phone out, but that's to be expected. I don't have my extended battery yet so I I'm not sure if it'll fit with the battery while facing screen out. Let me know if you still want pics of the innocase+ holster facing out.
Honestly though, why not just buy a cheap car mount? You can get a car mount for $10 or less online nowadays, wouldn't it be easier to just buy a separate mount?

I attempted to do it and no you can't. Due to the angle of the extended battery it won't slide in. I was hoping it would because I have a new holster on the way because my clip broke so i was going to then modify by broken clip and turn it into a car mount. I will keep you posted and post back in this forum if I get it figured out.

I used a small drill bit (can't remember the size) and drilled a few pilot holes. Then i used a lighter to warm up the case and warm up a pointed razor blade and very carefully slide the knife from hole to hole. Then i used sand paper (heavy grit) to grind down the ruff edges. I then used the lighter to burn off all the plastic shards sticking off the case.
Did you get it figured out?
No not yet. Been working a ton of hours at full time and part time job then spending rest of time with wife and 1 year old daughter

The Surface case for the Nexus 4 is another prime example of why many people, including myself, love Seidio's cases and holsters.
The Surface Case: Seidio uses a plastic that features a "soft touch" for the case. It's relatively heavy duty case and provides much needed protection for anyone who uses their phone and are unable to "baby it" 24/7. The case slips together seamlessly to provide that added protection. The inside/back portion of the case is felt lined as well to prevent damage or broken glass.
The case is available in Black, White, Garnet Red, Amethyst and Royal Blue.
The cutouts for the ports, buttons, sensors, microphones, etc are all cut perfectly and the case does not interfere with their operation. You cannot access the SIM card tray with the case in place (to my knowledge this is pretty much the same with every case on the market). The camera and flash all function properly and are not impeded. Also, it provides much appreciated lip to the front of the phone that keeps the screen safe when placing the phone face down on a table/desk.
The case allows the phone to feel much more comfortable (both physically and mentally) when using using a shoulder to hold the phone. The best part is that I don't feel like I have to baby the phone or worry about bumping into a table while the phone is in my pocket.
The kickstand... well, I honestly feel like kickstands are a bit gimmicky. That being said I appreciate that this one is metal (not a cheap plastic). It's also spring loaded and held in place by a small magnet. It only works in landscape and does not work in portrait. Ironically, I find myself using the kickstand more times than not!
The case functions fine with SGP screen protector but does not appear like it would play nicely with screen protectors that wrap around the side of the screen. Seidio also sells screen protectors that I'm sure would work fine with their case. I've put the case on/off 25+ times since receiving it and it is holding up fine and has not scratched the chrome trim on my N4
It's worth noting that I do NOT have access to a wireless charger and cannot confirm nor deny if wireless charging functions with this case.
The Holster: I chose to get the option with the holster. The holster is, by far, one of my favorite items from Seidio. When the Surface Case is on the phone, it can be used in combination with the holster to store the phone quickly and easily and SECURELY on your belt. The phone and case snap face-in to the holster to help keep the screen clear from danger. The actual belt clip is heavy duty and swivels and "snaps" into 7 different possible positions so you can keep the holster vertical or horizontal (at either direction). There is also a felt lining on the inside of the holster to help keep your screen scratch free (though while being carried in the holster, the screen doesn't touch anything).
The charging port, volume keys, headphone jack, power key... pretty much everything but the screen... is accessible while the phone is in the holster.
More photos can be found HERE!
Want one? Go get it HERE for $34.95. Want a holster too? Get it HERE for $54.95.
Feel free to let me know if more photos are wanted/needed or if there are any questions. I'll also be working on getting a review up for their Active Case soon for anyone who may be interested.
do you have a QI wireless charger to try if it charges the phone with this case on?
saw a user feedback on Amazon that it interfere the wireless charging.
I like the design of the case, but no wireless charging is a deal breaker.
EDIT: oppss... just saw your comment again, and you did mention you have no wireless charger.
Thanks so much for this review. What a smexy case! I've been thinking of going with a holster type case, but I think I'll hold off till my next phone buy.

Guess that means I don't have to spend money to find out!
I'm not having much luck trying to find a reasonably priced desktop stand for my N4. I have several cases that I use - none that are terribly huge...
UAG (Rust)
Spigen NeoHybrid
Spigen Slim Armor
Spigen Ultra Capsule
I tried this stand and the N4 with the UAG would not fit into the slot.
I tried this stand and the adjustments were not fine enough. One click out, the phone was top-heavy. Two clicks out, the stand legs were too far apart.
I'm interested in what others are using for a desktop stand for their N4.
Thanks!

I have 3 Motorola flip stand around the house and they work fine.
The Note 4 with cases fit perfect in the Elago P2 but the speaker is covered up on the back.
Thinking about drilling a hole for the speaker in the P2 stand.

My Elago P2 has a piece of rubber I glued on the back.
Without this rubber the P2 would accommodate even thicker cases on the Note 4. I've included a couple of pictures showing the UAG Maverick sitting on these stands also.
Here you go:
Nice, thanks.
On the Elago, is there enough room for a USB cable to plug in when the phone is in portrait?

Yes, but keep in mind that the rear speaker is blocked on the Elago P2.
Elago makes an M2 stand but it is just too small for the Note 4.
Made this on my own using cardboard, this is a larger version compared to my old one that i have been using for more than 5 years already.
Nice!
I ordered this one: http://www.tinydeal.com/-p-113818.html. It was shipped from China, so it took about 2 weeks to get here, but it's nice looking, very sturdy, and I have the USB cable plugged into the bottom in portrait (this works because of the slot going from the back and up through the bottom of the holder).
I use the Rabbit Stand:
http://smile.amazon.com/Rabbit-Portable-Iphone-Samsung-Smartphones/dp/B0051J1JZA/
And I have a Qi Charging Pad sitting upright on it in addition to my phone:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E9MUNWU
My Note 4 is in a Ringke Fusion, but it would easily hold a case twice that size in addition to the Qi charger if it needed to. It isn't remotely close to being top-heavy, either. It's very stable. The cable is currently plugged into the Qi charger, but the spacing would be the same to plug it directly into the phone.

I like how this stores flat. I also like that it's 1/3 the price of the Elago.
I'm curious if you have had any issues with the adhesive that holds the rubber strip on the back rest coming loose? This was mentioned in more than one review.

I haven't had any issues at all. Been used at my work desk for about a year and a half and I've collapsed it for travel maybe half a dozen times and it looks the same as the day I bought it. (Except for the self-adhesive velcro I added to hold the Qi charger in place.)

I bought the Motorola Universal Flip Stand, the Rabbit Mini Portable Stand, and the Elago P2 Stand.
My opinions of the stands I tried (all in potrait mode)...
Motorola
I liked the fit and finish of the Motorola but found it just too lightweight to support actually using the phone while on the stand.
It's not super-important but I would have at least liked the option to plug in a USB cable while in portrait mode but the stand just sat too low.
Rabbit Mini
The Rabbit Mini was a bit of a joke.
It was much smaller than I thought it would be.
It was all plastic and even lighter than the Motorola.
The phone had to be centered for the stand to even stay up.
Forget about actually using the phone while on this stand.
Elago
The Elago P2 was definitely my favorite.
It's solid, perfectly balanced, and the phone is completely usable while on this stand.
I ended up buying two - one for home and one for my desk at work.
It is pricey but well, you know...
Thanks for all of the responses and I hope my feedback helps someone else.

I put three small flat bumper pads on the stand where the back of the phone rests. This gives it enough of an angle that the speaker is slightly exposed. I can hear it no problem.
Hi Everyone,
For this Black Friday - Cyber Monday I am looking for a car mount for My Note 4. I have a Spigen slim armor on and my phone width is about 3.5 inches. Way to big for my old iottie. what do you guys use?
Right now I am looking at the Kenu airframe+ but I think the price is ridiculous.
Thank you

anyone use this and does it work?
I don't think hanging a heavy Note 4 off of your AC vent is a very good idea.
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshi...8&qid=1417205916&sr=1-9&keywords=note+4+mount
What do you think of this?
What do you use?
Do NOT hang your Note 4 off your AC vent !! I broke part of my AC vent that way.
Buy the choetech t510 Qi wireless car charger from amazon. It fits all oversize cases+Note 4. Then use outdoor scotch permanent mounting tape and stick it to a flat area of your dashboard vertically. you get that from home depot or equivalent. its a grey tape with red peel off dual sided stickers.
Works perfectly.
I've been using the universal car dock from Samsung and it has been working great. I used a 50% off code and got it for 25 bucks so not bad.
Don't agree with you

I've been using Airframe Kenu Plus (search on google)
I've used it with my g2 and now with my note 4, and it's working great.
Due to the size of the Note 4, I would say a car mount would be difficult to use; the weight might break the vent; magnetic qi mounts-- how much support will the magnets offer? And for the regular suction mounts, I'm not sure how much weight they can take. I've been using a techmatte progrip car mount, and it worked very well for my iphone 5s when I had that, but now that i've switched to android (note 4), the phone doesnt even fit in the mount. I doubt the suction would be strong enough to support it anyway.
I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00408B7ZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
with this http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder...&qid=1417724512&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+note+4
Working pretty good so far.
I am using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Series Case. http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Note-C...178&sr=1-13&keywords=spigen+slim+armor+note+4

Best carmount i found by accident while shopping at my local electronics store was called Magic Mount, it has several different ways of mounting your phone. but its all by Magnets, 100% safe. They provide you with several options of a magnetic mount i chose the surface mount, and a very thin metal plate that can be applied by adhesive on to the phone or case. 2 metal plates were provided to me with the service, one for a phone and one for a tablet or which ever device i choose. ill tell you this thing can hold really well. its great because I would always put my phone on my seat or cup holder, but what if they are both taken up by someone or my cups, then back in the pocket it goes where i can't change my music. id highly recommended this to anyone. its fast, easy, and no stupid bulky cradles.

I'm currently using a magnetic charging cable and it's great not having to ever open the usb flaps and use the usb socket each time I charge, but it's a drag having to keep my case open while it charges; plus, it can take up to a minute to attach the damn thing. I got a cheap case off eBay which is starting to break so I'm after a new one but it seems impossible to know which cases will fit in the dock.
If you have a dock and a case/cover, and assuming you recommended the case/cover, could you reply here stating the brand/model? Thanks!
Cruzerlite Bugdroid does not fit
I have the Cruzerlite Bugdroid TPU shell and can confirm this does not fit the stand with the standard adapters. I don't like the Book style cases and am not impressed by the Sony versions anyway. The gap in the dock is very thin so I'd be amazed if there are any cases that will fit with the standard adapters and protect the phone from drops. I should have checked this before buying the dock. I'm now looking to modify like another user on here with sticky backed foam.

I scooped this one off eBay:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/291245971777
Fits well and I like the way they did the cutouts because it seems to keep the power or camera buttons from getting pressed by mistake when the phone is in my pocket. The insert I used for the dock is stamped 34B and I think it's the insert for the Xperia Z3 Compact but it fits perfectly.
I have a Tudia case off Amazon, and the DK48 inserts are too thin . Looking to go the foam insert route, or dremel one of the inserts to open it up a tad. Thought about returning it and buying the Z2 dock (DK36). But it is more expensive (on Amazon at least), and I am not guaranteed it will work either.

I am using Chabel case from Korea and Case-Mate Sony Xperia Z3 Tough Case.
Both can dock charge
I use the Krusell FrostCover for Xperia Z3/Z3 Dual - works good for me and charging it on the dock is straightforward.

which Chabel case have you got mate?
CaseMate Toughcase w/metal buttons. Snug, handsome case, 2 part protection and fits the DK48. Not to shabby.

Ringke fusion does.
This Motomo case works perfectly with the Sony Z3 dock : http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=motomo+z3+case
The only thing is that you need to take out that plastic adapter since the case is too bulky. If you run it naked like in this picture with the plastic adapter off it works nicely and the phone doesn't feel loose at all while charging:

I use a Tudia case on mine:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TUDIA-Bumper-Protective-Compatible-Verizon/dp/B00OPW1SD2
It has a dock port cutout,
However i bought a replica of the sony charger, not the real deal and they gave me 3 adapters all the same size, So i had to do alittle DIY and sanded one of the adapters to fit my case, It works perfectly and with the Tudia case it's so much easier to slot the dock in
With using the Cruzerlite TPU cases, which charging dock will it fit it? I have the dock for the Z1 that I was using for the Z1s and the Z3 fit without the case (with putting a piece of folded up paper behind it to hold it in place) but now after putting the case on it won't fit. Which charging dock will hold the Z3 with the Cruzerlite TPU case on it?
The Casemate Barely There case fits the DK48 dock perfectly with one of the inserts. No mods required.

Yeah, I had been using the DK31 which fit it fine before the case... would the DK48 hold the Cruzerlite TPU case as well? I'm sticking to that case and am trying to confirm which dock will hold it.

It barely fits, and the phone sits at 90 degrees, not leaning back like it should do.
My dock is the DK48, btw.

Devilcase aluminum bumper works. Comes with it's own insert.
This one will fit the dock
