[Q] Note 4 Car Mount - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Hi Everyone,
For this Black Friday - Cyber Monday I am looking for a car mount for My Note 4. I have a Spigen slim armor on and my phone width is about 3.5 inches. Way to big for my old iottie. what do you guys use?
Right now I am looking at the Kenu airframe+ but I think the price is ridiculous.
Thank you

anyone use this and does it work?

I don't think hanging a heavy Note 4 off of your AC vent is a very good idea.

http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshi...8&qid=1417205916&sr=1-9&keywords=note+4+mount
What do you think of this?
What do you use?

Do NOT hang your Note 4 off your AC vent !! I broke part of my AC vent that way.
Buy the choetech t510 Qi wireless car charger from amazon. It fits all oversize cases+Note 4. Then use outdoor scotch permanent mounting tape and stick it to a flat area of your dashboard vertically. you get that from home depot or equivalent. its a grey tape with red peel off dual sided stickers.
Works perfectly.

I've been using the universal car dock from Samsung and it has been working great. I used a 50% off code and got it for 25 bucks so not bad.

Don't agree with you

I've been using Airframe Kenu Plus (search on google)
I've used it with my g2 and now with my note 4, and it's working great.

Due to the size of the Note 4, I would say a car mount would be difficult to use; the weight might break the vent; magnetic qi mounts-- how much support will the magnets offer? And for the regular suction mounts, I'm not sure how much weight they can take. I've been using a techmatte progrip car mount, and it worked very well for my iphone 5s when I had that, but now that i've switched to android (note 4), the phone doesnt even fit in the mount. I doubt the suction would be strong enough to support it anyway.

I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00408B7ZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
with this http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder...&qid=1417724512&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+note+4
Working pretty good so far.
I am using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Series Case. http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Note-C...178&sr=1-13&keywords=spigen+slim+armor+note+4

Best carmount i found by accident while shopping at my local electronics store was called Magic Mount, it has several different ways of mounting your phone. but its all by Magnets, 100% safe. They provide you with several options of a magnetic mount i chose the surface mount, and a very thin metal plate that can be applied by adhesive on to the phone or case. 2 metal plates were provided to me with the service, one for a phone and one for a tablet or which ever device i choose. ill tell you this thing can hold really well. its great because I would always put my phone on my seat or cup holder, but what if they are both taken up by someone or my cups, then back in the pocket it goes where i can't change my music. id highly recommended this to anyone. its fast, easy, and no stupid bulky cradles.

Being that the bracket mounts to your dash with a 3M adhesive pad my question is what does the dash look like after removal?

No need to mess around http://www.rammount.com done!

i have the iotti mount and it works fine

Best car mount holder?

hey guys what do you think is better a vent mount or a sticky one for the windshield?
i bought from eBay an air vent mount, didn't received it yet, anybody here got the chance to use it? is it any good?
plus, do you think mounting it on the vent and turning AC cooling on will damage the device? i think the opposite because it will cool the battery instead of baking in the sun with a windshield mount.
I have used two windscreen mounts.
Both was broken whilst I tried to adjust the angle of the phone after mounting it in the car.
they were both having a quality worser than a toy.
In a worst case scenario the phone might not get any or GPS signals.
I have used an airvent mount with a few of my other phones. One great advantage is the A/C keeps the phone cool when running the GPS.
you're absolutely right.
air vent mount is the best.
i bought one from eBay and very pleased with it!
very solid and the device gets a cool breeze

Air vent is the best

yeah it is.
2 weeks and holding very good.
Also vent mounting gets me close to where I can stick a short unobtrusive lead into the aux of my audio unit .
vent mounts are too dangerous, if you break the vent your looking at spending a lot to get it fixed on your car, i prefer the exomount which is universal and sticks/ sucks to anything. You can even mount your tablet!
Windscreen mount is what I have. Works perfect and I travel so I take it with me! for under 10.00 and for 2.40 more you get 3 years warranty on it?! thats madness.

I bought Herbert Richter vent mount and universal in car holder from holdersandmounts.co.uk great quality holder for £14. Very happy with it
Duncan
arkon car holder
try arkon slimgrip sm415
after doing a lot of research i found this one to be a good fit, you can access power button and volume button as well as rotate to different angles. Also comes with a handy plate to place on dash to attach to if you dont want to attach to windscreen (ie out of the way of view) It is universal so you can use it for other devices too!
If you're after windscreen suction mount, than Herbert Richter mounts are definitely worth every penny.
I had trouble finding a vent mount that fit my car as it had awkward vent shapes, I ended up going for a custom made Brodit Tilt Swivel holder that affixes to my dash, so now it sits in the perfect place and is adjustable, recommended.
It came in two parts, the custom made "arm" that fits to the dash, and the more generic holder that you fix to the arm.
Air vent is best.
And if it´s 35 degrees it´s cooling the device.
This might not be the best, but it's darn cheap and I've been happy with it for about 65 months! http://www.dealextreme.com/p/plasti...car-charger-for-htc-desire-hd-dc-12-24v-50845
The car charger sadly broke a while ago, but that is available without it also. I just ordered a universal usb charger and additional micro-usb cable to charge at car. Navigation consumes a f***-load of battery.
Definitely recommend Brodit mounts. Very solid and well made.

Ronseal!
well an extra request from my front.
Been checking but might have not checked enough.
Is there a holder, preferably HR, with a speaker inside?
Ive been using a CAPDASE Car Mount Holder and it seems to be pretty sturdy.
Would definately reccomend it.
I am also looking for a car mount. I will be going for air vent mount, due to temperatures and wont block the road. Can some one suggest good air vent mount ? I am also looking for car charger, which is best in terms of power delivery ? Is the HTC car charger CC C200 any good ? Or is there any special one for Desire HD from HTC ?

Brodit S3 Holder

Hi all,
Just wanted to upgrade that after spending a fair bit on an iPhone 5 brodit holder only to sell the phone for a GS3 and purchasing a GS3 holder (for skins), I really did not want to splash out more £££ for a S4 holder if and when it comes out from Brodit.
So today I tried the GS4 in the holder. Because of the small change in height between the two versions, the S4 fits perfectly in the S3 Brodit holder. I use the holder for skins which has no grip from the sides but instead a charger port at the bottom and a spring loaded clip at the top.
Charges fine so no issues there - also I >think< the ciggy plug is 2a anyway so it charges pretty quickly
Give me a shout if anyone has any questions about it.
Oh the plug is not made to tell the S4 it's in car-mode so all that is manual. I have an NFC tag at the back of the holder that used to switch the S3 into Driving Mode so I can do something similar for the S4 instead of spending money on another holder which would only potentially add the auto-dock functionality.

Hello,
Thank you for you feedback. Can you post pictures of your Brodit holder with the S4 ? Do you have a link for the Brodit holder ?
Thank you.
I was about to post to see if anyone had tried the S4 in various S3 holders. I have a brodit setup in my car now for my old Nexus S and I wanted to upgrade it for the S4. I emailed proclip and they said they are working on the S4, but don't have a release date. If the S3 works, I'll get that now. A bonus is that my wife has an S3 so she can use it too. One issue with the case friendly holder is that it's $110. That's a little steep. I didn't have a case on my Nexus S, so I was able to use the normal holder that does grip on the sides. The S3 and S4 are a little different in this regard, so not sure that the S3 normal holder for $60 would work.
The other (cheaper) option I've been looking at is to get the iBolt xProDock for $40 plus AMPS mounting plate ($7) to connect it to the brodit vehicle adapter. Seems like there would be an extra step involved with attaching the charging cable each time, but you wouldn't have to connect audio by aux/bluetooth like you do with the brodit/proclip holder. It's also $70 cheaper.
Has anyone else tried the S4 in S3 docks meant to be used without cases?
sorry for the delay
So the one I got was part number: 512409 and was purchased from Brodit but of their eBay UK site (I'm in the UK)
It's the one that allows skins though works fine with the s-view case as long as you fold the "lid" back behind the phone. I had the same with the S3 with a similar case. Also has the charger built into this one and charges quickly without any issues.
Here are a couple of pics

Actually looking at this pic, it looks like the screen protector is peeling at the top, it is not and the protector does not even cover that bit. I think it's a bit of fluff in the flap for the case that's been folded back so don't worry :- )

Passive holder is already out, and so I'm guessing active holder can't be that far behind.
Must have only just come out but remember the passive one you linked does not allow skins or any type of case on the phone so if you have one, you would have to remove it to then slide into the holder.
The GS3 one I posted above allows skins - as you can just about see, I have the s-view case on but you can have the clip on cases too

How do you mount your phone in your car? Post Please

Hi, I need a new firm car mount for my phone. And I found 2 kinds of mounts, do you have the similar item. If you do, would you please tell me which one is the best choice or post your mounts here? Thanks.

This is what I use in my car. its a Spiderpodium, and they are incredibly useful. I had one for my Galaxy S3, Then I got another for my work phone (a tiny nokia lumia 610) and now t holds my nexus 4. Its stable, quick to slot the phone in and out and it is truly universal.

And they are cheap! especially if you get the unbranded ones.
I use this Mountek bracket that inserts into the cd slot. Doesn't block view of windshield and is easily transportable to other cars.

Great, seems quite firm. Is a adjustable one? I mean the size.
I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-INFUS...S-V1B7BEGSTA/dp/B004WOBMIY/?tag=s601000020-20
Fits perfectly. There's a thread here too on how to mod it to charge faster (otherwise the battery drains a little during use.)

I use one similar to the last one you posted, 10$ from ebay, adjustable in almost every way. Put the mandatory NFC tag on it (also from ebay) to automagically start your car/navigation/whatever app when you dock it.
I use an iottie flex 2. It's illegal to have phones on windows so I attached it on the CD storage door on my car.
Brodit Proclip. I use a passive adjustable mount designed for the iPhone 3GS with case (sacrilege I know). Let's me use my N4 naked or with any case from bumper up with only minor adjustment required.

I second this. It is small and easy to use plus most importantly it sticks to everything without leaving any residue behind. I have a textured dash and this sticks just fine to it. Previously I had a Motorola mount with a smooth disk stuck to my dash so I could use the suction cup mount. What a PITA to remove the adhesive from the dash.

Thanks for you information.
I use a Samsung Infuse car mount, it fits perfectly. I originally bought it for my Galaxy S3 4G but after I gave that to the wife I tried my N4 in it and it was a perfect fit, better than the S3 fitted in there.

I use low profile dual lock, its like Velcro but stronger and more durable, I have one piece stuck on the tpu case my phone lives in and the other on my Brodit proclip. A roll of dual lock costs about £5.
It is less obvious that it's a phone mount, as it leaves no suction marks on the screen etc.
I got this one
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10833&cs_id=1083304&p_id=10257&seq=1&format=2
used sugru to mount it closer to me (I drive a truck and can't reach the windshield easily).
more expensive than most of the ones suggested, but this seems useful, since its magnetic...easy to attach/detach. the mount itself goes in the cd slot, so it's not in the way.

Nexus 5 wireless charging magnets...

Just wondering if anybody knows if there's a chance that the magnets in the wireless charging bit of the back panel of the Nexus 5 might just happen to also be able to grip to a non-charging pad.... to be more specific, something like the iMagnet magnetic dash/windshield device mount...
Where have you read there's magnets on the back of the phone? I don't believe there are magnets on the back of the phone..

like @cHarOn99 said, it has 4 magnets behind the back panel, in with the wireless charging plate. It's to help align the phone properly so a good connection (if you can call it that, really...) can be made with no effort.
Just not sure if they'd be strong enough to be able to be used with the magnets on the iMagnet car dock.
So I just got my phone and I've tried running metals on the back of my phone to no avail... No magnets?
The first picture of step 4 in ifixit's teardown appears to show four circular magnets on the back cover. Many blogs are reporting that there are magnets in the nexus to help line up the inductive coils for wireless charging.
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016
The discs could be steel and the magnets could be in the charger.

I can confirm, the magnets are in the charging plates not the N5
When bound to a magnetic charging plate then wouldn't this throw off values for the compass etc?

It's probable. I've seen people have issues with their N4 and a wireless charger in their car. They would have trouble using GPS.
I would love to see if it was possible to use the wireless charger connected to a vertical mount in my car. I hope the magnets are strong enough to keep it in the place. I am currently using the GripGO with my GN2 and it works well.

I am currently using a GS3 with the palm wireless charging guts glued into my phone's back cover. Obviously, I use a plam touchstone to charge it. I replaced the steel discs from the pixi cover with rare earth magnets in my setup. no problems with compass or nfc resulting.
Car setup. I have a touchstone in my car, and after a lot of experimentation, here are my best practices. It's important to note that magnetic power is great for directional pull to hold the phone to the charger, but the pull is uni-directional, not omni-directional, i.e. the phone will stick to the charger, but can easily slide off of it. The fix for this is friction. Covering the surface of the charger with something like this solves the issue. I found a stupid expensive "micro suction cup" sheet withe 1000's of micro suction cups per square inch on one side, and a very strong adhesive back on the other. it works great, but I don't know where to get it anymore. $40 for an 8x8 sheet. I suspect the grip go uses something similar. Good luck.

Car mount recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a decent car mount? My dash is textured, so the suction ones don't work, and I hate the ones that stick to the windshield.
Does your dash have enough of a flat spot for a weighted base? That's what I use in my car (a Honda Civic). The base stays put and then I can suction whatever mount I want to it.
It's a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, so the flat surfaces are lacking.

I see two options for you, then.
1) A mount that clips onto an air vent.
2) A mount that has a rigid/flexible arm that sticks out of the cigarette lighter.
A CD-slot mount would be perfect for that dash since there's no screen/buttons/etc above the CD. Amazon has quite a few to check out.
Try the brodit website
For me.. I would get some kind of wireless charging dock..one that's attractive (airdock, the Samsung one etc) and mold it in to the trim. That fo-brushed aluminum trim to the right of the push to start button would be my spot. Pop off that plastic, run the wires behind it and mold in the mounting bracket using advanced wood putty (its called wood putty but the epoxy kind is plastic, very hard and strong) sand and blend..paint to match..bam a seamless transition as if it was always ment to be there =) ..that's what my projects always turn in to lol
The magnet ones are good if you are using a case.

I've had the Brodit for many years now and its brilliant. I bought one for my S3 and I can adjust it for each subsequent phones. Available on Amazon also but you do need the clip for your car and the holder for the phone. Worth the money.
May be you will like this product,
you can search ebay item id:201268839849
just only $4.59
There are lots of options if regular suction cups don't work:
Brodit makes custom mounts for lots of car models. You then have to buy the matching holder for your phone.
There are CD-slot mounts if you have a slot load CD player but don't use it.
There are suction cup mounts which work on textured surfaces like the iOttie one I just linked.
There are mounts which anchor into the 12 V plug or into a cup holder.
You can get a plastic disc that has a foam adhesive sticker on one side and a flat smooth surface on the other as a base for a regular suction cup.
As someone else just mentioned there are friction mounts which put a heavy weight on the dash..but those scare me. The potential for a heavy object to become a projectile in an accident is enough to stop me from considering that.
You can also use a combination of these solutions if there is something compatible (17 mm ball joint, AMPS plate) between the car mount and the phone holder. Hope one of those options works for you. I've had a brodit base with a number of things attached to it for the past 6 years.
I use the kenu airframe

The iBolt xProDock is my favorite:

I second the Kenu Airframe but you'll probably want the Airframe+ for this phone.

Is this compatible with the s6? I have one of these that I bought alongside my htc m8 and am waiting to hear back from ibolt about if it's possible to swap out the charging arm with one for the s6, or if I need an entirely new dock.

Can anyone recommend a decent car mount? My dash is textured, so the suction ones don't work, and I hate the ones that stick to the windshield.

The last dash mount I bought for my car included a flat plastic disk that you secured with the 3M 2-sided sticky tape. You mount the suction cup mount to that, and it's rock-solid.

I'm not sure if the Dock'n'Play functionality works, I connect and stream over Bluetooth so I don't use that feature. I just think that the holder itself is solid and my S6 fits fine in a TPU case. This and the previous gen, smaller iBolt are the two most solid mounts I've ever used.
look no further than the celgo
