[Review][+Pics]Seidio Surface Case (w/ Holster) - Nexus 4 Accessories

Seidio SURFACE with Metal Kickstand
Pictures are worth a thousand words but there are also times when pictures just can't explain what you are trying to say... so, here's to both!

The Surface case for the Nexus 4 is another prime example of why many people, including myself, love Seidio's cases and holsters.
The Surface Case: Seidio uses a plastic that features a "soft touch" for the case. It's relatively heavy duty case and provides much needed protection for anyone who uses their phone and are unable to "baby it" 24/7. The case slips together seamlessly to provide that added protection. The inside/back portion of the case is felt lined as well to prevent damage or broken glass.
The case is available in Black, White, Garnet Red, Amethyst and Royal Blue.
The cutouts for the ports, buttons, sensors, microphones, etc are all cut perfectly and the case does not interfere with their operation. You cannot access the SIM card tray with the case in place (to my knowledge this is pretty much the same with every case on the market). The camera and flash all function properly and are not impeded. Also, it provides much appreciated lip to the front of the phone that keeps the screen safe when placing the phone face down on a table/desk.
The case allows the phone to feel much more comfortable (both physically and mentally) when using using a shoulder to hold the phone. The best part is that I don't feel like I have to baby the phone or worry about bumping into a table while the phone is in my pocket.
The kickstand... well, I honestly feel like kickstands are a bit gimmicky. That being said I appreciate that this one is metal (not a cheap plastic). It's also spring loaded and held in place by a small magnet. It only works in landscape and does not work in portrait. Ironically, I find myself using the kickstand more times than not!
The case functions fine with SGP screen protector but does not appear like it would play nicely with screen protectors that wrap around the side of the screen. Seidio also sells screen protectors that I'm sure would work fine with their case. I've put the case on/off 25+ times since receiving it and it is holding up fine and has not scratched the chrome trim on my N4
It's worth noting that I do NOT have access to a wireless charger and cannot confirm nor deny if wireless charging functions with this case.
The Holster: I chose to get the option with the holster. The holster is, by far, one of my favorite items from Seidio. When the Surface Case is on the phone, it can be used in combination with the holster to store the phone quickly and easily and SECURELY on your belt. The phone and case snap face-in to the holster to help keep the screen clear from danger. The actual belt clip is heavy duty and swivels and "snaps" into 7 different possible positions so you can keep the holster vertical or horizontal (at either direction). There is also a felt lining on the inside of the holster to help keep your screen scratch free (though while being carried in the holster, the screen doesn't touch anything).
The charging port, volume keys, headphone jack, power key... pretty much everything but the screen... is accessible while the phone is in the holster.
More photos can be found HERE!
Want one? Go get it HERE for $34.95. Want a holster too? Get it HERE for $54.95.
Feel free to let me know if more photos are wanted/needed or if there are any questions. I'll also be working on getting a review up for their Active Case soon for anyone who may be interested.

do you have a QI wireless charger to try if it charges the phone with this case on?
saw a user feedback on Amazon that it interfere the wireless charging.
I like the design of the case, but no wireless charging is a deal breaker.
EDIT: oppss... just saw your comment again, and you did mention you have no wireless charger.

Thanks so much for this review. What a smexy case! I've been thinking of going with a holster type case, but I think I'll hold off till my next phone buy.
RE: the wireless thing, I am not sure if they just now literally added this to their product page, but when I checked just now it says in bold letters:
The SURFACE™ with Metal Kickstand is not compatible with wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 neoprene cases

Hello 8.9 users . I know a lot of people prefer leather cases or smart covers, but what i am looking for is a good soft neoprene case that will protect my tab against eventual drops or scratches, when i'm carrying it around. I don't like the ones where you have to stretch them to get the tab inside, and i much prefer the ones with a zip on the side.
I was thinking of getting something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Slim-Ne...ltDomain_0&hash=item337143b173#ht_1152wt_1396 but it ships from USA and i don't like the shipping costs and delivery time. The other thing, it lists as a case for tab 10.1 too, that means the 8.9 will probably "swim" in it a little bit. Can anyone confirm this?
Has anyone found something similar to this one (or better), that is preferably shipping from Europe? Please do share what kind of neoprene case did you get for your 8.9.
Can't be that no one likes neoprene?
Yah...most cases are leather or pleather. =) Here are a couple links that might help.

iLuv ISS2102 Case for web Tablet:
http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-Padded-Neoprene-8-9-Inch-Samsung/dp/B005JK62T4
I am planning on getting the Belkin Leather case. They make a neoprene one though too. I don't think you will have too many options other than maybe making one for a DIY project. In the long run though it maybe cheaper just to the pay the shipping and get what you want. Time is money!

What is the shipping like for you over seas?
I just picked up this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/29064036495...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_5130wt_952
It fits perfect. The Model is the A7s. Ignore the models specifically labeled "8.9", they're too big. The A7s fits perfect with no stretching. It's not neoprene, but a kind of pleather. However, it has a memory foam layer that makes it very cushy. It zips all the way open on three sides. I also got this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-for-Ga...Accessories&hash=item45ffdeff77#ht_2358wt_814 which also fits perfectly. When the plastic cover is on, it still fits great in the memory foam case.

Looks good. Can you post pictures when you get everything all set up?
Here's an ebay post with a different colored plastic cover, but is the same thing. More pictures. www.ebay.com/itm/Galaxy-Tab-8-9-P73...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3a702df2dd. As far as the case, it looks pretty much identical to the pictures in the listing. The fit is exact for The 8.9. There is no extra space, either height or width.
I might be a lil late here, but I just recieved the following case, and love it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006WBVU50/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/192-3119395-3706453
most of the cases i picked up were for all galaxy devices so my tablet has a lot of free space to bounced around.
Just wanna let you guys know that i recently got the iLuv sleeve for my 8.9. If you want neoprene and whole lot of protection and soft materials, stop looking, because this is the best one. It fits perfectly, no bouncing around. Payed 24 euros for it, but it's worth it.
Has little triangles on both sides, that add to overall rigidity and extra protection if it accidentally drops, since they soak up the impact. It also has a pocket on the outside, where you can put your smartphone or other accessories. All in all, it's a very nice and high quality sleeve, i'm very happy with it. Here are some photos:

[Review] KLD "Smart" Cover white (cream) & 360 Degrees Rotating Case

Before you go and buy the White KLD "Smart wake Cover on ebay you may want to read this.
Hi guys
So i bought the KLD and waited almost a month for this to be delivered.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLD-Smart-W...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item19dbff2bbc
Ill be honest its not the worst case in the world but far from how nice it seems in the pictures. The build quality is "ok", it seems to offer decent protection and it has access to everything including the SD card and SIM. The stand seems to work ok too
Now for the bad.
Its CLEARLY not white. Check the pics I have put up next to my white phone case and the white N5100 Its more of a cream or beige . Also it doesnt have Smart auto wake like advertised. Not too worried about this as i know magnets are supposed to be bad for your device or something. The coating that is holding the flap on thats been applied to the plastic back cover has not been put on well. Looks quite cheap and old. The case comes really close to the S Pen so me with very short finger nails, its really hard to access it and trying to press the volume and power button is a real mission. The flap covering the screen moves around a bit too I wouldnt recommend this case to anyone really. I wont be using it for long, waiting for Samsung to get the original book cases in. I would give this case a 3 out of 10

The 360 Rotating Case with auto sleep is much the same as this from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Degree...9&sr=8-7&keywords=galaxy+note+8+case+rotating
The case isnt too bad, you have better access to your S Pen however u dont have access to your SD and SIM slot. The front flap is quite thick so its adds a bit of bulk to the device and a bit of weight too. Its really easy to rotate the device when its in the case so when u are using it in landscape mode it can move around really easy. It seems to add quite a bit of protection to the device and the auto sleep wake feature works even if you close it when your device is upside down. The viewing mode in portrait is a lot more slanted than in landscape and is not as stable but its seems to hold it ok. You can also use the strap used to keep the flap closed as a hand strap. I would give this case a 6 out of ten.
Shout if you want any more pics or info.
I have the samsung book cover and I hate it. Its cheaply made and I dont like the positions it allows me to hold the device in. Also, it takes a minimalist approach and basically just clips on the corners of the device. For $50 I expected more.
I recently ordered this off amazon and like it much better. Many more colors to choose from and the pen is easily accessible. It may only cost and $8 and some change but its worth atleast double that. I also got a screen protector from moko with good quality as well.

Does the samsung book cover have magnets that keep the flap closed if held upside down?
No, and that is just another reason to hate it. It does have the sleep! Wake function but because its not secured by anything while you carry it or heck when the wind blows to hard the lid can move which wakes the device. The one I listed above has a magnet built into the plastic lip and a small metal piece on the cover that secures it in place. It is secure and doesnt come in contact with the screen so it wont damage it.

RooCASE Origami review

The good fellows at rooCASE have sent me their Origami case for the Nexus 9 to review. After a few weeks and of testing, here is the my review.
http://www.amazon.com/roocase-Googl...id=1437516245&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+9+origami
Pro’s:
First up… it has to be the right price or it won’t’ work for me. MSRP on the case is $49.99, but it sells for $19.98 on Amazon. And it is quite the case, albeit not perfect, for $20.
This thing looks awesome and feels awesome (I’ll revisit feeling in a little bit). The hard shell back is a polycarbonate and is really, really solid. It looks to be a quarter inch thick in some places and thicker on the corners for when you drop it. I do like how the N9 is “pinched” into the case as it will allow for the glass screen covers and you don’t have to worry about the case grabbing on to it. I’m not a big fan of NFC, but for those of you who are… no worries, the thick case still allows for NFC transfers.

}
The cover is made out of polyurethane. The inside cover is like a non-slip surface so when you have the N9 standing, it won’t slide around. The multiple ways you can fold the cover (hence the name Origami) give you plenty of options for your seating position. This is a great option for those who are “road warriors”. After that, the usual stuff you get with most cases is provided such as wake/sleep, and hey… it protects the screen when closed (another topic I will revisit below)
However, looks and feel only get you so far. This case held up to being thrown in a backpack to go to work and to some soccer games just fine. However, I don’t see it as ideal for those rugged people. If you are one of those people who are consistently biking, camping, mountain climbing, sky-diving, and/or warrior against fire-breathing dragons… you may want to check out that Orb System Versa Tough case by rooCASE.
Con’s:
So let’s get back to those things I said I would revisit. First off, I stand by my words that it looks and feel awesome. However, the case does absorb oils from your hands. It takes a little bit to wipe it clean… but keep this in mind. Next thing, and probably the biggest thing is the cover itself. The non-slip surface of the inside cover also sticks to debris. So the chances of scratching the screen is there (but the case does allow for glass screen protectors). The magnets that hold the cover to the case barely, and I mean barely keep the cover closed. As you can see in the photos, the cover opens up in the middle when it is upside-down. So I highly suggest keeping this case to the office/school/home use. Do not use this case for outdoor use (beach, camping, fire-breathing dragons, etc). You will more than likely get debris inside the case and scratch the screen. The last con that I have (and is probably the reason for the loose cover) is that it is not flush to the side of the N9 when closed (see picture of overlap). This is due to how the cover attaches itself to the case.
End Result:
Is the case worth it? I can say yes, as long as you know that the limitations are there. This case looks awesome in the business environment, sleek enough for school, and the cut outs for ports are perfect. I would love to see a better connection of the cover to the overall case to eliminate the flap that hangs over and I would love to see a bit stronger magnets used. The case weighing 0.4lbs adds a small amount of weight… however maybe the guys at rooCASE can develop a skeletonize version of the case can save weight and cost (I can dream, right?).
Either way, it is a great option and worth the $20.

Anyone have issues with the magnetic sleep/wake being activated when the cover is folded behind the device? My tablet will go to sleep if the cover is pressed against the top backside of the device. Think holding the device with your left hand in landscape orientation. For now I have resolved the issue with a small piece of material along the top edge of the device between it and the hard plastic shell. It pushes the top of the device out just enough to prevent the device going to sleep.

[MOD][How2] Ultra rugged Poetic Revolution for the Nexus 6P Case

Hello,
having won such a nice case from this XDA Nexus 6P contest, I decided to have a closer look at it The Poetic Revolution for the Nexus 6P is indeed a tough case and quite a beast in comparison to some slim TPU cases. This case however seems to be very strong and to offer enough protection to your device. If you´re one of the guys who care more about "practical" values of their devices and want them to survive for a couple of years, this case might be suitable for you. It´s also great for guys who work in a tough environment
Now some of you guys might not like the screen protector. I never liked this kind of stuff and also removed it from my old Otterbox Defender case for a Samsung Galaxy S3.
This MOD will be easy to perform at nearly no expense since the materials needed are very cheap
Material needed:
- soft material pads
- rubbing alcohol
- cue tips for ears or toilet paper
I´ve removed the screen protector by gently pressing against it from the corners and also managed to get rid of most of the glue this way. If however there is too much of it left, you might need some sort of rubbing alcohol and cue tips for ears or even toilet paper to remove the rest I guess you get the idea

Now this frame looks pretty clean, eh ?
Now I tested the case with the phone inserted and realized that there was a visible gap between the screen and the frame. It´s ok this way since you´re missing the screen protector. I didn´t want to live with this gap and had to figure something out. I used some soft adhesive pads which I attached on the inner part of the remaining case.
This is how your new back can look like
Here you can see all parts again
The result:
From a technical point of view, the drop protection is improved a lot too since the shock can be dampened through the pads too.
Now here´s the deal, the gap between the frame and the display is gone but instead you will have a slightly visible gap on the back between the camera and fingerprint sensor.
The camera is not affected by it, same goes for the fingerprint sensor.
The extra gap on the back will be barely visible and in fact also improve the cooling of the phone. The soft material will make sure that your Nexus 6P adapts 100% to the mechanical construction of the case now. In theory this is great because the risk of bending your device is lowered a lot by keeping the phone 100% snug in the case, instead of letting it wobble around.
Now you might wonder if you can still use the USB port and the headphone jack without any problems ?
Yes, regular USB Type C cables can still be inserted without any troubles but you need to have a closer look now Most 3,5mm headphone plugs might work too, only very large plugs might cause problems.
Feel free to tell me your experiences if you also modified your Poetic Nexus 6P Revolution case This MOD might work in a similar way for other phones and cases too.
I just wanted to add some extra footage and descriptions
In comparison to my Spigen Rugged Armor case, the Poetic Revolution case is tougher.
This is how the new USB Type C port looks now, it is slightly raised because of the soft pads below the phone. A regular USB Type C cable still fits but you need to be more careful this time.
The headphone jack might be tricky now with big 3.5mm plugs. You might need a extender if you want to use some higher grade headphones which often use a bulkier plug.
Just in case you´re not sure if even regular headphones will still work, you can use some sanding paper or a sharp knife to cut some parts away.
This will save you a few mm too
Now let´s have a closer look at how the phone is inserted now in the hard plastic frame.
The critical part above the power and volume buttons is 100% covered now by the frame. Once you use the now modified case, chances are next to zero that the Aluminum body will bend in this area....or in any other area because of the tight fit between the screen and the back and now from all sides too.
I´m confident that this case will not damage the phone now

Pierre Cardin Leather Case Review!

So I recently decided that even though my S7 is my daily driver, I wanted a nice leather case for my Note 4. I've actually looked for leather cases for the Note 4 since I got it back in October of 2014, but I could never find anything good. Recently though, I've found the Pierre Cardin leather case, and I really like it a lot!
They say it's genuine leather; it feels really good in the hand. It's not too slippery, and it's not to stiff. Protection wise, it's nothing special because it's one of those cases you just slip the phone into that doesn't have top/bottom protection. For me, though, I'm really careful with my phones so I don't need/want a lot of bulk. This case is thick enough and covers the corners enough that I'm sure if it dropped, it would still be ok. All access to the ports/s-pen work fine.

The stitching on the back looks cool; it's a very bright brown almost white stitching that runs up and down the back, and around the camera. The brand name Pierre Cardin is punched into the back at the bottom, along with a logo.
There is a nice small lip that runs around the bezel so that you can easily put the phone face down without having to worry.
The cutouts on the side for power and volume are shaped well and easily accessible.
All in all, this is a really cool case. It feels nice, it fits the phone nice, and I think it's gonna be the case I'm going to keep on the note for a while! Mine is the brown color, which as you can see in pics isn't as super bright as the pics on amazon. The red is also REALLY nice; I actually got the red for my mom's Note 5 which I'll be doing a review soon for as well...but I think I might end up doing the red for my GS7!

Looks nice but I prefer to have a case that offers better protection than that.
I'm using this case for about 6 months now. While it's a great case and adds to the look, it is sensitive to heat - the edges where the leather meets the satin-like insides tend to come off if your phone heats up (optimizing 350 apps after flashing Xposed or playing a demanding game...). The colour of the leather also tends to get darker, though it doesn't look bad at all even when it gets dark.
The case is essentially a plastic inner with leather-like outer and satin-like soft inner material, so it won't stand much of a fall - I managed to drop the phone once, and the bottom right corner of the case is now broken.
Also, the heart rate sensor seems to have a problem with this case, the readings or erratic with it on (or I have too big a finger than what this case expects!).
All of that said, I'll definitely recommend this case - I got it from Amazon.in for about $13.50 (~INR 900), but considering that it looks like it won't last a year for me, I'd pick it for ~INR 500 if it comes on an offer/ discount.

interesting! i shall keep note of all of these issues you had. i just did the heart rate scanner and it worked fine, so on mine, it doesn't get in the way.
