I see it. Very strange. Don't have it. Have you tried to change the theme or do an factory reset?
That looks like a display model left with bootup screen on for several hours or perhaps a wallpaper which had the display on for several hours.
Looks like a replacement will be required.

I was just going to say something similar - looks like a burn-in. I thought modern LCDs didn't do that anymore ...
You should try to get it replaced, if it's under warranty.
And guess what its also appearing in cwm
I'll be lucky if i can get it replaced .... Oh well.

actually its not a display model.
this is very funny as there are hundreds of these units sold in iraq and a whole bunch come with the imprint.
i had no choice today but to repurchase (after i sold the last one) because this device simply has awesome hardware for the price.
there has to be a reason/thing causing this image.
its definitely not in the OS as it appears in CWM also.
any ideas?

Hey everyone,
I just noticed something weird on the screen of my xoom (with the screen off it's much more visible). I can see some strange "squares" filling the whole screen when looking at it from a low angle and I can't remember if it was there since I got th device... so I don't know wheter it's normal or not. Do you see such signs on your xoom too?? Or should I ask for a replacing unit? Mmm.
What I see looks slightly like this: h**p://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_170x135.214590012.jpg (sorry, can't post external links yet)
I hope someone can help me
Thanks!
Yuvi
I havnt seen your picture but does it look like its image, as in displayed on the pixels or physical. It could st be the mesh of te touch panel, for e.g. on my desire I can see a diamond shaped mesh in sun light. Can't see anything on my xoom screen though, but its got the crappy factory screen cover on still.
Macbots drool as I XOOM through the Galaxy to my hearts Desire on the back of a Droid.
Yeah it's there on mine too, I also noticed it when I first got it. I'm not 100% sure what it is, but I'm assuming it's related to the capacitive screen.
Its the touch screen digitizer.

It's normal that you should see a glint of it in light, don't worry about it, nothing wrong with it unless u can see it straight on in any light.

We have 4 Xoom's in our office and you can see it on all of them when the screen is off - and the light is on. But we are software developers, we live in the dark so it's hard to see most of the time.
There are many people who have perfect screens and no yellow band.
Those of you who don't have this problem could you upload pictures to this thread so we can see the differences?
There is a thread for those with yellow issues, but there isn't one where there are pictures of perfect screens.
Thanks!
Let's see how many people out there have perfect screens.

Screenshots won't capture the yellow screen on the bottom because it's from the internal memory, so it doesn't capture the screen defect from the outside. If you have a camera or another phone take a pic with that.

How is it hard to not post a picture? If you have the yellow banding you don't post an image, that's simple.

He's talking about the yellow band at the bottom of the screen, now the yellowish hue that the entire screen has (due to software setttings).

They probably don't have a perfect one it is probably a lot less noticeable. Or they don't want to admit or deal with CS to get a refund. People who do that allow ****ty companies to stay in business.

Here's some shots of my phone. I can maybe notice it if I look at it at a certain angle and stare at it for a while on a white screen, but its 99% unnoticeable to me. I only see it because I'm nitpicking. When my LCD monitor is displaying a completely black screen, I notice the edges are a little brighter due to backlight bleeding so I'm thinking it might be the same thing.

Well if that was stock then the ota should make the screen colder and you won't see it at all. That is if it looked that good originally.
Mine is pretty knarly and I don't think the ota will help so I'm hoping for a refund whenever they respond to my ticket.

When I looked at the photos and saw a bit of yellow, I was surprised since I didn't notice it with my own eyes. That's why I took pictures of the top to compare. The camera makes it look worse than it is because my eyes can barely see the difference unless I stare at it closeup for long time. If I hold the phone 2 or 3 feet away I can see the bottom edge is a tad warmer. 99% of the time I don't have pure white backgrounds so it doesn't bug me at all.
I dont have the yellow issue. This is white background on 100% brightness.
Hi everyone!
I went to a local store to see and do some testing on xperia Z3. As soon as I opened the camera i saw some letters and image of a woman burned in display and I was like wtf is this. Then I entered the display test to see if that image is really burned in display...and it turns out it is, and it is visible only in grey color... How is this possible? I thought that LCD display can't be burned...

Honestly, I've never before heard of LCD burn in. I mean, wtf??? :S
Its probably an image retention, it can be eliminated using a color test tool which flashes various colors, many are on app store.
This is not AMOLED so it should not be possible (I mean not permanent). I have seen similar effect on my old G2 when a replacement (repair shop)LCD went bad though. So do not worry, its probably just a bad unit.

Got my XZP a few days ago. unboxed today and powered on and while booting up with the white screen and logo I found some clusters of ultra white pixels on screen.. I have since returned the phone for replacement, but I do suggest you check yours.. I had a similar issue with my Z3.. Thought Sony overcame these issues of the past.. seems not

Got my replacement XZP on Friday last week. All good now. Except I have a touch screen lag when the phone gets warm Ah sony....
Have a Note 9 which I'm keeping, just got the Ultra and the display is a disappointment.
Side by side with the 9, colors are not as vibrant, contrast is so-so, sharpness is off. Fine details, icon edges, etc. are fuzzy.
Now, I'm anal about this kinda stuff. If I never saw the 9's screen, I'd never know and think it's fine, and to most, it would be. But this is me you're talkin' to. ?
I don't know whether to return it or pray for a Samsung fix. I'm not a gambling man. I've gone through every display setting and resolution there is, including dev options. I'm pretty experienced.
Maybe it's Nova launcher, but it's just not as nice as the 9's screen. Exact same home screen, icon theme, everything identical.
Your thoughts/opinions/gut feelings? Got till next week to return to Best Buy.
Thanks a lot,
Rich
You're 100% right, my N20U has a yellowish dirty white look to it when compared to my N10+
I doubt Samsung sees this as a defect until all of us report it as a defect so they can fix it with a software update.
Using vivid mode with green slider turned to lower setting helps but that's about it...

I posted in another thread that I got an app - Screen Balance - from the play store. With that I was able to get rid of more green as it has several adjustments for white balance. Use various adjustments judiciously. I like things cool. Seems *all* amoleds look green to me anyway.
Lest anyone thinks I'm spamming the app, since I mentioned it in another thread, I am not. Just a much happier user. ?
Doesn't solve the aforementioned problems though.
My gripe is temporary image retention. Using dark mode and gray screens, sometimes, the outline of the keyboard will remain on the screen for 5-10 seconds. I notice that if one uses the phone in light mode, it seems perfect, but once in dark mode, it has some minor flaws.
It's funny to see so many of these posts popping up. I made a post about this before as well that the screen has an overall yellowish greenish overtone to it. In fact, mine got worse. Now I have screen burn in. It's crazy since I don't have my phone at high brightness. It's somewhere in the middle. This is the first time I have to have a screen replaced. I miss my note 9 so much. If the note 9 had an ultra wide camera, I would so have kept it. This is likely the most problematic note I've owned. I had 3 note ultra in the past and they are all the same in terms of display. There's no escaping it. If you call the Samsung costumer service, they aren't allowed to admit issues with the device that Samsung hasn't cleared for them to admit, so they'll deny any screen issues at this time. I was going to trade this in for the Oneplus 8 pro, but they aren't taking Note 20 ultras as a trade in device, so may still sell or try to hold on till S21 ultra and pray by then Samsung corrects this new line of Amoled screens.
This is the screen burn in that I have unfortunately. Going to get the screen replaced, hopefully this weekend.

Then it's a mystery what that anomaly is. I am not the only one as a member in another forum posted similar. Image retention maybe? I don't know. But whatever it is, it's not going away and the Samsung phone techs agree I need to change the screen. Hopefully the new one doesn't do this.

Same image on the screen for extended periods can cause it too, so if you're always in WhatsApp chat or Facebook app and the same thing is always on the screen you'll be more likely to see it then too

Yeah i used to worry a lot about this as i know there are batches of screens that have this problem. Initially i thought the green yellow tint problem was also in some batches esp when Display mate gave this screen such high rating, which means they are all who have sold their souls for money and not honest, so thought mine was a bad batch but it seems everyone has this tint issue. Its sad that you have burn in but its more common than you think. Many people got it with the Samsung View case too.

Yeah, pretty unfortunate. I did see the issues with the Samsung cases causing the burn in as well. What's funny is that if you speak to a supervisor at the Samsung customer service number and tell them about the screen issues and you have someone else with a Samsung phone call them back hours or a day later and get the same supervisor, they'll tell you that they never had one complaint about the screen. Unless Samsung instructs them it's an issue they can fix, they will not admit it. Still hoping Samsung can correct the yellowish greenish overtone of the general display.
